No offense intended, but if a phone is anyones best choice of their life, then I pity them...
I love the G2, but not as much as my wife or dog.
what's the P/N? it's on the bottom of box or under the battery.
is hinge loose?
Anyone else feel Rom development is coming slow after root was achieved, custom time now are either a nearly stock desire sense Rom or cm's vanilla ROM, I haven't flashed a new Rom in a week

Ditto, I remember seeing you in the vibrant section. I just got my g2 2 days ago, sold my vibrant yesterday.
No complaints at all so far and I think this is a killer phone. Much happier now.

Just wanted to know what the REAL reason is for the Vibrants Lag is? software or hardware. running test like CPU Benchmark,Quadrant Standard or Linpack. Seems to run a lot slower then almost all phones. like the G2 or the Mytouch 4G. Just to name a few. Thought The Cortex-A8 Hummingbird CPU was going to make the Vibrant super fast but that does not seem to be the case! I love my Vibrant and games run awesome on it for the most part but it sure lags up a lot! Rooted stock ROM with the T959UVJI6 Update. and using Launcher Pro Plus. Still love my Vibrant but would like to know why so slow on test and why so much Lag?
And I know there is a Lag fix but seem to be issues with that too. Thanks a million
You're comparing Eclair to Froyo and, in the G2's case, vanilla Android. Try running one of the Froyo builds and see if you have any lag. I'm running the Obsidian Froyo based on the T-Mo leak and have run Eugene's and both run with zero lag.
he's just a troll. everyone who used both knows full well that the Vibrant is way faster.
Not a freaking troll! Lol just wanted to know. Thats all no bigs. I love my Vibrant and not dissing it at all.was just asking a question since this the Vibrant Forum and all!

Yes, you're trolling, but I can't resist myself.
I had a G2. Traded it in for a Vibrant.
Enjoy your dust-collecting screen, crappy hinge, inability to flash roms, INCREDIBLY bad camera, and random hard resets.
Also, the G2 keyboard is a sad shadow of the Cliq keyboard.
pierre and darkside is probably the same kid lol. G2 sucks balls. My friend has it and it is freakin slow. The whole os lags lol. It gets what, 33 FPS on Nenamark? we get over 55 lol
Oh yeah, and good luck sending any text messages that have "stop" in them on your g2.

Hey guys! Don't know how many of you were watching, but the nexus one got its gingerbread update! Why does this matter? Well, the nexus one would have to be the first phone to receive the update and now that it has the floodgates are open! This is particularly good news for us g2 oowners, as we are running stock android and are one of the next in line for the update. Wooo!
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
We already have a very stable version running on our phones so realistically its not that great news, its good but nothing to be shouting about haha sooorrry.
Indeed, but for those without stock this is good news and those with it can expect performance increases in custom ROMs when it comes out from the drivers it will provide. Kinda win win.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I really wish it was that simple but its not the case. Just because it "looks" like stock doesn't mean that there's tons of different from AOSP. Plus, the nexii phones don't need their updates to be carrier approved unlike the G2. IMO we won't get official gingerbread until mid-summer. Totally sucks but realistically it's what we'll have to put up with. I'd love an updated .35/.37 kernel from HTC though. CM7 is so amazing though that I wouldn't even worry about it.

Lol... true but we can't assume that everyone can root their device and know how to root their phone. So it will be good news for those who want the gingerbread update for the g2 but as for me I don't really care since I can use cyan7 running gingerbread already...

Apparently samsung has "confirmed" Gingerbread for the galaxy s phones in march. (Check the galaxy s I9000 forums) By that logic, we should be getting it before then, unless tmobile botches their "pure android" marketing component for the G2.

Dear Mr Root.
Please hear our prayers to root our Gingerbread devices!! Everyone knows that stock rom's are just plain old boring, and no fun at all. We need something to play with and break We wake up each morning, just hoping for that 'miracle' on XDA.

Really....another thread about getting ROOT. This does not help and only clogs up the board with uselessness. There is a sticky at the top of the General section or posts just like this called: Off Topic Lounge.

No, it is for general information about the evo, not to start a thread about praying for root. What does this post provide? Nothing.

My phone kicked the bucket so I had to call in insurance and I was forced to use gingerbread with the new bootloader and I came from cm7 running a tiamat sbc kernal, and its not stock sense that pisses me off (however I do prefer asop) but its the stock kernal the battery life is a joke I have the 3500 extended battery and I still need a bigger battery

I dont feel sorry for the people who lost root by foolishly installing the OTA update. But I do pitty those who got a new EVO, refurb replacement, or switched carriers! That would blow. I'm surprised Unrevoked hasnt updated yet or something. No Root from the community after this long!?
Look you guys none of you know how to even start with rooting the htc Evo so don't go all like I can't believe there's no root yet.

i got my phone brand new lil over a month ago, everyone said itd come with gingerbread on it.. after i bought it of course i find out its unrootable.. but surprise surprise it had 2.2 on it outta the box.. phew!
I am done waiting, I returned my phone for my MoPho (Mototola Photon 4G), and have rooted it WebTopless, (without a dock). Also, I hate the fact that the phone has such little internal storage, and I do miss Sense, but I have a Sense Launcher. I have a Front Facing Camera, and a kickstand.
I have an Otterbox Defender Case/Holster and now I have to mod it and add dust filters for the two microphones...

I have a little dilemma. I have had this my touch 4g for a while now and love it. I am currently rooted running ics on my phone. The fact that I am a flashaholic and it seems lately new things are coming out for this phone every week or so, makes it even better.
My girlfriend just got added to my plan so we ordered a HTC amaze 4g because it was free. And after looking at the amaze section it doesn't seem likes there's much going on.from what I read they are stuck on drivers. Yet the amaze it set to get the official ics update.
All that being said my girlfriend had a flip phone so anything is an upgrade for her. Which phone should I take and which one should I give to her.

I keep hearing that they have s-off on the Amaze, but it hasn't been released yet...but that's just what I read on here. I don't know it to be a fact. But I would probably take the Amaze if it were free, because I have found out recently that I don't prefer ICS. Not that I'm knocking mt4g, its still my favorite, but I feel like the Amaze will explode in development soon...

I thought the same thing but then I saw that there isn't even çm7 for the amaze which kind of made me worry about development. Thanks for your reply though

Ive heard that the Amaze is a great phone, but time is ticking and the development window is getting smaller by the day. Without development going on currently, people will probably move to a new device sooner.
Just my two cents.
If you want a device for development, go for some thing else like sensation or upcoming one s. If you want a great device that works, go for the amaze.
I got the amaze for my girl and Im switching to it too.
Honestly, if you want great developer support and lots of ROM options, you should go with a Nexus. Be it a nexus S or the galaxy nexus. They tend to have the liveliest dev groups. however, if you are into sense ui, it might not be the best choice.
Forget everything. Go for the amaze. They have s-off.
Amaze is a beautiful powerhouse
