Yes the bcm4329.ko file is broken, the only way is to flash a new bcm4329.ko back to system/lib/modules..
You will need to root and install root explorer from the market which is £2.50 I think..
This will fix your wifi....have you been messing with flashing kernels for this to give an error??
no this is what i do not understand on my HD2 i expect some stuff not to work as i change things that offten. but i have not done a thing with is phone is that the only way to pay out

There is another way where you don't have to pay yes...
You need to know what you are doing though so I wouldn't recommend it .you will need..
Root
S OFF
Android ASK
Fastboot.exe
You can brick your phone if you do things wrong...the first method I gave you is very safe.

OK...download the 0.07 file from here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835616
Dont worry about all the overclocking stuff....we just need the module..
Extract the zip file to your pc...
Ignore the zimage (thats not needed in your case)
Its the bcm4329.ko file that your after..
Let me know when this is done on the thread..
i have the extracted files

Ok..If this is a problem with the wifi module then this will work, if not you problem lies else where..
You only need the bcm4329.ko file (you dont need the zimage, thats an oc kernel)
So put the bcm4329.ko onto your sdcard via usb on pc (dont put it in a folder, put it straight in the sdcard)
Open root explorer and scoll down to sdcard folder and tap it
H ightlight and long press on the bcm4329.ko. file to bring options menu up and press "move"
Use back button on the phone to go out of folders, go to the main folders(where you found the sdcard folder)
scoll to bottom to "system" folder press it
scroll down a little bit to find "lib" folder press it
scroll to the bottom to find "modules" folder press it
Now top right corner or screen press mount to put root explore
into read write (R/W) now press paste, it sould say do you want to replace
bcm4329.ko file press yes
now long press on bcm4329.ko to bring options menu, press permissions
tick all the boxes and press ok
Exit root explorer and reboot the phone.
You now have a new working wifi module...
Im pretty sure that should of now fixed your problem....go into settings....wireless & network and turn on wifi --hopefully the error will be gone ...
Please let me know !!
i have done all what you have said and tryed a second time still not working any other ideas

Yes it was the right file...strange things are happening with your DHD..
EDIT - I even killed my Wifi by deleting the file...got the error...replaced with bcm4329.ko using root explorer and its now fine again..
ALSO You would have none if it was the right file as it would have been the same as the broken one when you pressed paste...it should of asked you if you wanted to replace it because it already exists...in system/lib/modules
Ok you need to do S 0FF and then install clockwork mod then you can flash a custom rom..
Ignore some of the steps in this link....you just want to do s 0ff..
you need the DHD.ZIP file and the terminal from the market..
heres the link..

Im sorry if this is the wrong section for this, I figured this would be the best spot.
The reason im posting this is because a lot of people were asking how to use the EVO keyboard (with arrows) on NON-Evo sense builds. First off, as far as I have tried, the build does have to be a sense build. I have tested this on just about every sense build for the HD2.
I've attached the renamed apk that ive been using. Hopefully it will work since I sent it straight from my phone. If you use it, skip #1.
1.) Rename the HTC_IME.apk to newHTC_IME.apk
2.)Go into the folder where the newHTC_IME.apk is (if you download it from your phone then it will be in the "download" folder) and using "Root Explorer" or another root file explorer long press the apk and select copy.
3.)Go to your system>>app folder and paste the newHTC_IME.apk. Since its not the same name as the original it will not ask you if you want to over ride the original. But it will still be there if you choose you do not want the EVO keyboard later on.
4.) You WILL have to reboot for the changes to take affect, if you do not you will not have a keyboard till you do reboot.
I hope I didnt make this complicated lol, and yes i know....some of you know how to do this. I did it for the ones who did not.
Works perfectly with desire sense mdeejay build. Thanks.

the method you're doing won't work.. follow the OP's instruction on how to do it, or install droid explorer and then copy/paste the newHTC_IME.apk file to system/app folder.
BE VERY WARY ABOUT THIS!!!
I'm going to have to start from scratch as doing this has lost my keyboard, permanently.
I keep getting a "Sorry" message saying that "The application Touch Input has stopped unexpectedly" and my keyboard is unavailable.
This is after installing this new keyboard, as well as after restoring the original one. It's basically just screwed my keyboard so I'm going to have to rebuild my instance of Android from scratch.

My friends, i'm not able to write the file newHTC_IME.apk into /system/app/.
I've installed "Root Explorer" and I also cannot, it tells me that there's no space to copy the file... even i use mount r/w
i'v also tried to access superuser but i dont know how it works... superuser2.3.6 app screen shows me there's no apps, log shows me there's no log, and i don't know how can i give root privilegies to "root explorer"
thnx!
SOLVED: I was able doing the same, deleting HTC_IME.pak and copying newHTC_IME.pak. Thnx!!!

I'm running EB01 2.6 sc. Have been trying to add shut down animation but my phone won't let me modify system folder. I've flashed back to stock and used a different method for root access and tried several different file managers. Whenever I try to make a change, it tells me the folder was created successfully or the move was successful but no changes actually happen. Does anyone have any ideas?

It worked!!! Thanks a ton.......such a weird problem...why would only that particular file manager work???
Then again........maybe it's not entirely fixed. I'm now allowed to add system folders. I wasn't before. But I don't see a "move" option anywhere, to move shutdown.ogg (or whatever I'm trying to move) I only see Copy and Cut. When I choose one of those, it says "Prepare to Copy" (or Cut), but never actually does so.
Just rename the original to shutdown.ogg.old or oldshutdown.ogg . I remember that it says preparing to copy and it actually will copy the file/folder so all you have to do is navigate to the right folder and hit the clipboard icon to paste.

I have tried to edit the boot animation using UOT kitchen on the LeeDrOiD rom since version 2.2 but have had no success!
i believe it is stored in system/customize/resources. i pick this option in UOT and the boot animation doesn't change.. i pick the option "Sense ROM" in UOT and still no change... any ideas?
It might be write-protected. If you can, get root explorer, and get a custom animation zip file.
Make sure its called bootanimation.zip
Copy to SD.
Using root explorer, navigate to system/customize/resources, mount as writeable, (little touchbox near the top). You should see a file called bootanimation.zip in there- that is the one in use.
Now go back, find where you saved your custom bootanimation.zip, copy and replace the other file. If you want, rename the original to bootanimation(1).zip and place your custom zip in next to it (in case it doesnt work and you want to revert to previous animation.)
Exit, Reboot, and should be done =)
Hope this helps.
Yeah that method definitely works as I've got a custom bootanimation on LeeDrOiD 3.0.2
Also, while you're there, you can delete (or rename) android_audio.mp3 if you want to get rid of the sound on startup.

When I rooted I S-OFF'ed straight away, so to be honest I don't know. As far as I'm aware, no, you need S-Off for the SPlash screen, not the Boot animation. Don't quote me on this though

Think so yeah.
I thought S-OFF was needed to make changes to the system folder while the phone was switched on (in it's normal mode...) ?
Maybe I misread somewhere
Like I said, I'm not too sure, I guess there's no harm trying it with S-ON?
@UKseagull, if you want to get S-OFF on the desire, try Unrevoked-Forever, if that doesn't work (like for me) I found an alternative.
Get AlphaRev, Click Here and download the .iso file.
However, I had a little problem burning the image as it wouldn't boot, so I used virtualBox to run it and gain S-OFF that way.

Confirming, to edit system folder you need to be s-off. Any problems with adobe flash, as it's in system, you need to be s-off. Struggled to make changes till s-offed today.
I'm gonna give it a try now..
I'm S-ON so if that doesn't work, would using adb work?
Edit: Just realised there's a second page LOL. I don't particularly wanna S-OFF, should I try adb?

I believe if you use ADB you can put the bootanimation.zip into /system/customize/resource folder.
If you haven't flashed the ROM yet you can just delete the original bootanimation.zip from the ROM zip folder and replace it with whichever one you want..

Hey guys,
I overwrote my build.prop file last week with one supplied by a dev in a thread in order to fix a WiFi calling problem in their ROM. I'm back to CM7 but my WiFi calling is not working here now. It appears as if restores don't restore the build.prop file? Anyway, if someone could supply their build.prop file (if you're running a CM7 build flawlessly, even better!) I'd be greatly appreciative.
or you can simply take it out of the rom that you downloaded, jus open the zip and go to system and it should be at the bottom

If you use FX File Explorer and the root add on it will set the permissions for you on your apps. Other files like initd files and such need the permissions manually elevated but for apps like these it's automatic. Don't forget to reboot after copying the files over.

so i think i figured out part of the problem. I didnt use the stock rom to pull them from, it was the syndicate rom ( i apparently dont know how to read when i click things). I have the G900VVRU1ANHA_G900VVZW1ANHA_VZW.zip which contains a .tar.md5 inside. Without flashing this, using odin, to my S5 how can i access the system files to pull the apk and odex? i tried one of the guides in a thread to open the tar.md5 as a .img.ext4 and then mounting the image using DiskInternals Linux Reader but it could not get the file to open after mounting it. Now im REALLY lost as to what i should do, and im just fingers crossed that replacing those 2 files is going to enable my NFC again. (im assuming so since its all that i touched, but my knowledge in this department is limited)
thanks again for all the help, i usually just search for days for answers but with this im coming up blank!
Okay, so i downloaded the /apps/ zip from this thread and copied them from my pc to my phone. Using ES File Explorer i moved them to the /system/app/ folder. They originally had rwx rwx r permissions after the move, i changed that to rw r r and rebooted. Post reboot, attempted to enable nfc through the quick menu to no avail, going into the setting and turning it on the slider turns to green but the NFC icon does not show in the notification panel, I cant scan any NFC tags, and after exiting settings and going back into them the NFC setting has reset itself to off every time. I am now at a complete loss of what to try next.
just a ps: when running syndicate rom in slot 1 (safestrap) i was able to get NFC turned on and working just fine.
