Need help with loading!!! - Epic 4G General

Okay, it sems to only happen if I have a custom ROM installed. See I switch roms quite often cuz I like so many of them, but here lately, I've been having this problem when I sart from my home screen, go to menu> settings>applications> manage applications, and there my list of installed apps, we'll, if I choose one of them, it takes you to another scren where you can uninstall if you want. Now, if I hit the "back" soft key from there, it backs up 1 screen, but it has a "loading" pop-up that never stops. It just keeps loading until I hit the "back" key again and it takes me to where I can choose "manage apps". Any help would be great...

automatically cloasing apps when exiting (like treo's palm)

Is there an app that can close selected apps when they are not being used, one thing I don't like is apps running in the background the having to go to the app just to close it with magic button or the right hard key.
on the treo apps close as soon as they are not on the screen.
thank you

whats wrong with magic button? it closes apps rarather minimise when you press top right button and you can close all runnings apps with ease. what else do you want it do do?
that said, i am actually looking for an alternative myself. although i love it, i do find that it tends to crash out pretty often. i am constantly restarting it. anyone else finding this?
i find that magic button will work fine until... you show the phone screen. it can't seem to close it correctly. it flicks it on an off several times and generally goes bonkers.
For a very minimal look, try VJOkButt.

HTC Home Problem

HTC Home Problem
In my start menu, my Programs button opens up the program list just fine... But in my program launcher, I have one button dedicated to open up the programs list... but just recently that button just became dead. How can I fix it?
Sorry, edit is acting weird.
By dead button, I mean dead link, nothing opens up.
That's actually happened to me a few times. Only thing I found to fix it was uninstall and then reinstall HTC Home.
Thanks, I'll try that out.
With sooo many visitors here, i thought i would get a reply sooner.

All messages> Back switches apps instead

I noticed a bug that allows you to switch to running apps that were left behind with the home button.
Prerequisites: HTC Messages widget on one of the main screens.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an application (like 'people') and exit out with the home button, not the back button.
2. Repeat step one if you want to add other apps.
3. Go to the HTC messages widget and tap it to open a message.
4. Select menu option "All messages".
5. Press the 'back' button. This will switch to another app instead of close the messages.
6. Repeat step 5 to close the app and move to the next one.
Further notes:
Some apps will continue to show up even if you press 'back' on them to exit out.
For example, "People", "System settings" and browser never closes. Camera app does close, but you have to leave it by pressing 'home'.
Works on generic 1.5.

I didn't know that - it is not mentioned in the manual. Thanks for that useful tip. Looks like a useful shortcut back to where you were before.
But how do you close a programme rather than let it waste memory and battery in the background?

If android needs ram it will close apps as needed but you can always download a task manager from the marketplace, there are some good free ones, i suggest advanced task manager its what i use
It would be good to be able to actually get them to exit properly.
Especially so when you have 4 or 5 "All messages" apps that won't go.
The only use this bug has is to take you to apps that are actually running as opposed to your history.
It also takes you to screens that a task switcher can't do for you, like the last screen you see from your last phone call and the call history.

I don't see this as being a bug. The ability to be able to short cut to the 6 (I notice it is limited to 6) previously used apps by a long press on the home button is obviously something the designers have deliberately included. And to me it is a useful additional feature (now I have found it!).
It seems to be history rather than running apps you are looking at - I closed several of my running apps using Astro and yet they still subsequently appeared in the list.

I'm guessing he means that before he installed CM6, when he pressed the back button mid game it would take him to the homescreen, however it now takes him to the application he was using before starting up the game (Again this is a guess). Isn't this normal behaviour or have I become too accustomed to custom ROMs?
For example, you start the email app, download a document which then opens in whatever office suite. Once you press back enough times to exit the app you return to your emails. Doesn't stock froyo work like this

This is my understanding as well (of both the OP's verbal diarrhea and of how Android works).
I think its the other way around...
Since installing CM, his back button seems to be returning him to the home screen (the one with the clock, as he puts it), instead of just backing up a screen...

yes danger-rat explain me very good!
if i'm enter to astro from the main screen of application's and doing back it's brong me to the homescreen!not to the main screen of the application's
Yeah, I though that was the problem, but I'm not sure I can help. As far as I know, the back button cannot be configured.
Since the back button now acts like the home button, you could try configure the home button to act like the back button? Lol...
The best suggestion I have would be to wipe and reinstall CM6. This isn't normal behaviour, so you've possibly got something corrupt...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
yeah...but these is after the new instalation of the new cm6...actually it's from the cm5.0.8
Still, it's not behaving like it should. A wipe and reinstall may help...

that's the only option?because every time that i changed my rom i did wipe already
What rom exactly are you running? CM 6 Stable or one of the nightly builds? I know that there is an option in the newer nightlies that a longpress on the back button with kill the app.
"Common: Kill foreground app by long-pressing back - Evan Charlton"
Link to changelog: http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/froyo/CHANGELOG.mkdn
i'r running CM 6 Stable the latest one
so my only option is just to install again the cm6(after wipe)?

Batch delete Google apps in play store

Love that we can remove old apps from the library, but can we batch delete. I going one by one will take fooorreevveerr
Long press on one app (not the delete button on the right) to highlight it blue
Then just start clicking away on as many as you want before hitting delete on the top right of the screen
Try to stay under 40 in a batch... it wasn't working right for me with huge quantities
Perfect

When I long press the app it just opens the app to install as soon as I let off. I even tried long pressing for 30 seconds with no luck. I tried roling back market by installing the 3.10.9 market apk, but when I open market I still have version 3.10.10 and the same problem. Any ideas?

Since the recent play store update, batch remove had been replaced by BATCH INSTALL, now you have to delete the apps from the list one by one again. Well done google dev! I want to kill the one who come up with this [email protected] idea now.
