Looks interesting.. If it is the real deal, the yeah..
But the build date is kinda old like someone else said..
That is so Cool. I wonder if any devs will be able to open up the file and see what mysteries are held inside. 50/50 chance that it could be Gingerbread? You guys think so.
DLing now, will see what can be put apart
Can I flash it with ODIN?
sounds interesting. hoping some developers can dig into it and figure out what it is
interesting, maybe ill try pulling it apart and see what i find

Maybe I'm just an ass, but I find it funny that all those guys that were bragging about getting a 2.1 leak before us will now not be able to root if they already installed the 2.1 leak. hehehehe

Well there is no way I'll do the official 2.1 update. Our devs will have something much better the day after it comes out anyways.
What do you think? I havent tried anything but fresh 2.0b/2.0b2 and I'm extremely satisfied. Don't know if I should try something else
Best ROM is simply a matter opinion. There is no "Best ROM" for everyone.
Sense is nice & all but I much prefer AOSP ROMs, due to there shear better performance & battery life.
I think I shouldn't have eaten that Taco Bell about 30 minutes ago....
many choices
Well to tell you the truth its all up to you which you consider the best rom, i still use pancake ive tried different ones but i chose that one, i highly recommend you try others just remember to read and follow directions properly.
Im thinking about messing with it tonight... but I'm on my apple comp and I cant figure out for the hell of me how to open the phone up through an apple
EDIT: Nvm just got it, my comp was acting retarded and I wish I woulda ate taco bell

Topic basically says it all at this point. International i9000 2.2 Froyo source code is now available at http://opensource.samsung.com/ .
tarball of this build is being tossed around on the i9000 forums for the curious...
Downloading source incredibly slowly atm...
awesome,
so what do we have to do to get it?
since its a update zip we can just put it on out sd card and do a recovery?
a little confused lol

Don't the carriers now each need to "customize" it to their own networks?

You are correct. Also, the kernel needs to be adjusted for each version of the phone.

Newb here as well.
Carriers aside, what does this source mean for developers like bionix, cyanogen, etc.
I've been reading that developers have been waiting on the source, is this what they are talking about?
There's a blue and red arrow icon in notifications, when I pull it down it says "Device Management - connecting to DM Server". Could this be Froyo?? Yeah, right, but what is it then?

crap...I am on JFD. It's been stuck on the "connecting to DM server" forever, though.
Here's what you do, put it back in the box and send it back and get a different phone... =P
But no, you are probably getting JI6. I suggest that you Odin to one of the new leaked ROMS and use that. JI6 was a mess IMO, huge battery hog.
otherwise, Enjoy your new toy

lol, but I like my new toy...LOTS. Got a 32gb sd card on the way for a total of 45gb of usable storage. That is tops, no? Still have my G2 for backup.
How long is this JI6 update supposed to take? That "connecting to DM server" icon has been there for an hour. Should it have connected by now?

Why would you post this AS its updating, rather than wait until its done before starting this thread???
Over the air is a crappy way to get anything is becoming my understanding. If it was me I'd Odin JI6 onto it if you want to stay stock. Otherwise I'd put on a custom ROM of your choosing.
If you need help with Odin etc. look at the Vibrant Bible - it will answer MANY questions for you. Good luck and welcome to the club

***Edit This was a custom rom that must have been installed on the phone, sorry for the title***
I had an Epic that was purchased back in August that I traded for an EVO in December. After a month with the EVO, I couldn't take the on screen keyboard anymore so I traded my EVO for an Epic that was a week old.
It hasn't been rooted or messed with and when I looked at the system info it said it was running 2.2.1 Froyo DK28
Did Samsung start shipping new phones with 2.2.1??
I know 2.2.1 isn't official yet but I have been out of the Epic loop for a month so I wanted to see if this was a fluke or what.
Either you think you're being funny or you've got someone else's flashed phone. It's running DK28, which isn't a release build.
That isn't the official froyo build. It looks like that's a phone that was exchanged for a di18 phone back in december. Or maybe its a refurb that wasn't flashed back to di18.

Honestly I don't think I am being funny, It was a valid question since the phone isn't rooted I wasn't sure.
Is the leaked DK28 flashable without rooting through Odin? If so that would make sense, I just wasn't sure and that's why I asked.

Sorry, but we've had more than our fair share of Froyo pranks on here and I'm sure you've heard the story about the boy who cried wolf.
In any case, the unmodded DK28 is unrooted, so it's quite possible for this to happen. If Sprint gave you this phone, they're not doing a very good job of resetting it back to factory defaults.
That's for sure. I got mad as soon. As I read the ops thread but I guess he really didnt know.

I would update the OP if possible to change title to *used phone* or something... Alot of people have their panties in a bind about Froyo on the Epic.
