Sprint HotSpot app - Epic 4G General

What is the name of the app or where do I go to delete it? I can't find it anywhere. I'm using 2.2.

I think this only applies to us bloody Yanks...

Interesting, so USA stock ROM has "Portable WiFi Hotspot" missing?? Never knew that.
Even if USA stock ROM and non-rooted you could still google for the tethering app .apk file and install using app installer/ES File Manager/Astro File Manager.
Well sideloading is so easy so i dont see why there kickin up a fuss

Actually it is there, it just won't turn on. Says SIM not provisioned for Tethering.
Unless you change APN's or run a custom ROM.

Can the Sprint GS3 tether to the nexus 7 using the wifi tether app?

Currently i can do this using my epic touch using the yellow wifi tether app. I am about to upgrade to the gs3 on sprint and currently fox fi tether is not working on it. Thanks
Yes u should be available to do it if u have data plan
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Sprint took fox fi off the playstore. But if you go to the app in the playstore the dev gives you a link on how to install it anyway from their website.

ROM that allows free wifi hotspot on T-Mobile?

I was using AOKP 4.2 and it worked for a bit but since the 4.2.1 ROMs have launched i get a T-Mobile redirect when trying to use the hotspot feature.

A way to get around that is to use Firefox as your PC internet.
Phones don't apply tho, there UA strings show as mobile.

Piggybackign onto this thread...
I definitely would like to be able to get access to all the AT&T hotspots that come in carrier-ridden phones. I use AT&T's service so hopefully it wouldn't be a hard thing to do? I'm assuming it's not possible.

Download pdanet, WiFi tether app, or any tethering app on the play store.
Sent from a galaxy far far away.
Sorry to piggy back onto this topic but is it possible on AT&T if I download a tethering app such as the ones mentioned above that I could tether my nexus 10 free of charge? (As in them not cancelling my unlimited and putting me on a more expensive limited tethering plan).

Although I haven't tried it on my N4 yet. Wifi tether worked beautifully on my CDMA sprint HTC Evo 4g with a custom rom (mikg)...

[Q] Tether check?

So, my AT&T G2 is now rooted, but there appears to be a tether check in place. When I try to tether using either Estrong File explorer or Elixer 2, nothing happens.
Has anyone figured out what value we need to hex edit on this phone? Is it the same as the Optimus G Pro?
Please post back if you figure this out, I'm on vacation now but I need to teather daily once I get back.
Im assuming that nobody have come up with a solution to the ATT model..I havent found one yet
Have you tried the EasyTether app?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Enable tethering on LG G3 D850

Got this from the G2 thread so I take no credit. Just tried it out and it works 100% thought I'd share.
What you'll need:
Root
Root explorer (or something similar)
SQLite editor
1. Activate the hot spot initially in the user interface settings, once it rejects to turn on the hotspot.
2. In root explorer goto data>data>com.android.provider.settings>system>databases>settings.db>systen
3. Press search button then type tether
4. Tap on tether_entitlement_check_state goto the value and edit to 0. Save then reboot phone.
All done. Below is the original G2 thread so make sure to give thanks over there.

It also depends if sprint uses the hot spot provision apk (or whatever they might call it). If they do you can use xposed and x tether to get around it by freezing the provision apk with titanium back up and installing xposed frame work that the x tether module. Below is how they did it for the Galaxy S5.

It all depends on how they tether. If they use an app to verify tether then no but if it's a simple number value ran against their systems like how AT&T is then yes. If you have tibu I'd do a search in there for the word tether and see if they use an app to verify you

Hmm. There's an app called "com.lge.mobilehotspot.ui 1.0" so I'm guessing that's the verification app you spoke of.

No I don't believe that's it. I think thats part of your interface to turn hot spot on and off. Its an apk that you're looking for. They're usually have the name hotspot or tether in them.
I believe I saw a thread that was for Verizon models that tells you steps on how to do this hack

Well other than that app, there's nothing else that shows up in Titanium with the words tether or hotspot.
