Sorry that there are some people like that here.
But you just have to edit the images inside the Framework-Res.apk to your likings

That WAS constructive, if less than polite. So I apologize for my rudeness.
I'm really unhappy about all the carriers touting their 4G networks when (at the time) there wasn't even a 4G standard.
Now there is a 4G standard but it hasn't been deployed anywhere.
If you want your phone lying to you, that's your business. I just happen to have a loathing for marketing jerks who thrive off of confusing issues rather than clarifying them. I also feel that it is our responsibility as members of our respective communities to clear up deliberate foisted misconceptions among those less technically literate when possible.

Knew a guy who put a V8 emblem on his 4-banger Mustang. To each his own...

hey this might not be the place for this but i checked my cousins mytouch 4g and it shows hsdpa i checked my vibrant and it shows hsdpa i live in nyc what exactly does this mean if anything?

Go check out the G1 forums. This past April Fools they made a bunch of ROM releases where they replaced the "E" icon with a "4g" icon.
Many lulz were had.

yeah they made such a big thing about, till they realized it was fake, infact many were saying even their speeds improved lol

Regardless of whether it's entirely honest, it would still be nice to have a different icon when you're on hspa+

Look, Bub. Who cares if you've been here longer than I have? Clearly it doesn't make you smarter. You tried calling me out for suggesting you search, then I posted the other thread that you claimed didn't exist. You make me laugh. Now drop it... your question has been answered. I'll get out of your thread now.
Children! Children! Please! Yes we know he should have search. He said he did and found nothing. He could have just as easily said that he did not try and it would have made no difference.
@uansari1 Calm the **** down, theres more people to blame for being guilty of this than just him. And there are bigger things to be *****in' about than just this. RELAX
@pr0cl1v1ty Yes the sim will work just fine, just take it out of your g1 and place in Nexus One. You dont even have to alert tmobile, it will work as soon as it is placed inside.
@Paul22000 Was that really neccesary? Dont forget that plain text cannot correctly display voice. And an ignorant newbie randomly searching the forums could come into this thread and be misinformed by your statement.
I'm on the no contract 500 min/unlim text/unlim data for $60 before my work discount annnd new to Tmo. No complaints so far
Also... Enough with the search comments... it gets rather childish.

[Q] Root Block: Intentional or Bug?

Cyanogen is saying its a bug. Tmo is saying its a feature. which one is correct?
If it is indeed a bug how would tmo go about fixing our phones? mass recall? sweep under the rug?
If its a feature, is it a precursor to what future phones will be?
Either outcome isnt very good for the consumer and may lead to lots of lost customers for tmo. Specially after tmo releasing a statement that its a feature of the phone.
I love this phone, the very first smartphone i ever had, and was really looking forward to hacking around with it but its hard to justify such a device that locks you out of such features. I hope cyanogen and all the other great devs work out a solution to this problem. I dont want to send it back.
looked for similar threads and couldnt find any.

People are being jerks for sure, but OP, you should search better cuz your question has been answered in several threads. The short of it is NO. It is not a bug in the sense you are thinking. It is an intentional bug which tricks linux (android os) into thinking writes to the system files during root are being made when in actuality, the writes are only being written to cache. Once the cache is cleared during reboot the root access is erased because it wasn't actually written to the system in the first place. It's not a bug that needs to be fixed. It's a bug that was placed there to fool the system and make permanent root more...challenging.

There is a very informational Wiki out. Check it out. It will get you up to date with all the work that has been done towards root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
The important part of the question.. for me.. is whether the Z has the same bugFeature.
I see one random user saying that they flashed a G2 rom on a Desire Z and nothing more. Have I missed something? Kinda hard to say yay or nay based solely on that.
"Intentional Bug" ????
If it's intentional, it's NOT a bug.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Thank you XfooYen for the info. I did a quick search before I posted(the posting page even searches similar post before you publish them) and found nothing similar. I will make sure to search more thoroughly next time.
I am familiar with the current situation with root, I just though that if a well known developer like cyanogen thinks that its a bug that maybe the readers of xda might want to discuss his possible ratonale for such a statement, then again that may not have been what he was trying to say and got it misrepresented by the media. Instead I saw nothing but irrelevent and pointless posts. For a second I thought this was gizmodo or engadget.
Thank you again. Its good to know that xda has readers who actually know what they are talking about and not just the average troll.

Senior Status?

I always wondered how you got senior status. I am older than dirt so I knew it wasn't age. I have been a member since March 2006 so it is not how long you have been a member. I am smart, good looking, and modest but no one could know that.
Then I hit 100 posts and I became a senior member but I did not get any bonus gift or anything like that. Old age is not for sissy's and life is tough.
Edit: Now it shows "OP". Maybe that means "Old Person".

Hi neo...
There's one simple reason why there's no Overcome development directly on the CDMA-based Tabs, and you've hit it right on the nail: AB86 doesn't have a CDMA unit to work, and no one on the team has one either.
However, if I'm not mistaken, and there is someone whose trying to work it out for CDMA Tabs. Not sure if it's Gingerbread-based though, as the kernel currently available is for GSM-based Tabs only.

I think we need AB86's view on this. I know he helped someone port an older [Froyo] version of Overcome to CDMA although I am not absolutely certain how functional it actually is on CDMA.
AB86 will definitely have glanced at the idea though so he will be the best one to give us an idea of what's possible and what's not
MK is right on. AB86 did help a CDMA tabber port some overcome goody to CDMA tab and this is farthest that tabber got: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058086
@ the OP,
Can I suggest that you change the title of the thread to something a little more descriptive of the topic.
Its just that sometimes these kind of threads can turn into "If you want it, do it yourself" / "stop harrasing the dev's" type flame fests....
And from just glancing at the thread title it looks as if you have some kind of problem with the Overcome devs.
I appreciate that your only asking for info and not making demands, just want to make sure that someone doesnt see the title and decide to start rage posting without even reading.
I would be more than willing to work on a CDMA tab, given I had one That's the biggest set back really. I did help the other member try and get Overcome running on it, but its extremely difficult and slow to develop on a device I don't physically have in hand.

[Q] C6602 vs C6603

Hello all,
Deciding to choose between the C6602 or C6603. I am in the US and it would be on Tmobile. Do both support HSPA+? I've also read that the ZL baseband can be flashed for LTE support in CA, has anyone tested in the US for AT&T or Tmobile? From what I understand, the ZL baseband supports those bands.
I would like to be able to choose between LTE and HSPA+
What is the best choice for my situation. These bands confuse me so I apologize, I did my research and this is my last resort to get a clear answer.
Cheers.

....who care? you think i care if my account got blocked? i'll just make another one, ban my IP? i'll just refresh it big deal... its not like i'm getting paid for typing on forum genius.
OP - You should have searched & posted in the correct section. I'm not going to lecture you on this, we all have better things to do with our time.
The Rest - Seriously? What is your problem? Why can't you all just get on? If you have nothing constructive to say, don't post. This is the internet, if you're getting mad at someone you don't even know posting in the wrong place you take things way too seriously.
@G1_enthusiast - You think that XDA being a developers forum we don't have ways to know about duplicate accounts? Did you know that most browsers can be queried for a unique installation ID? IP's are an ancient and ineffective way to track users.
