Trying to provide Teamovercome with a CMDA Tab - Galaxy Tab General

Dear Teamovercome,
What does us CMDA'ers got to do to get shown some love? Do we need to get you you a CMDA Gtab? I am just curious...I know that deep down you would love to spread your overcome love to us guys/gals that are left out in the cold...lol. Seriously...this may have been asked of you before, but if there is anything that I can do to get the ball rolling...Let me know
-Thanks \oo/

Hi neo...
There's one simple reason why there's no Overcome development directly on the CDMA-based Tabs, and you've hit it right on the nail: AB86 doesn't have a CDMA unit to work, and no one on the team has one either.
However, if I'm not mistaken, and there is someone whose trying to work it out for CDMA Tabs. Not sure if it's Gingerbread-based though, as the kernel currently available is for GSM-based Tabs only.

Well if that it all the teams needs, I need to call out the CMDA community and get some tablets donated, even though that is easier said than done :0. Well when there is a will there is a way.

That's what it may come to, but would rather hear feed back from the devs first . Then I can go from there

I think we need AB86's view on this. I know he helped someone port an older [Froyo] version of Overcome to CDMA although I am not absolutely certain how functional it actually is on CDMA.
AB86 will definitely have glanced at the idea though so he will be the best one to give us an idea of what's possible and what's not

MK is right on. AB86 did help a CDMA tabber port some overcome goody to CDMA tab and this is farthest that tabber got: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058086

@ the OP,
Can I suggest that you change the title of the thread to something a little more descriptive of the topic.
Its just that sometimes these kind of threads can turn into "If you want it, do it yourself" / "stop harrasing the dev's" type flame fests....
And from just glancing at the thread title it looks as if you have some kind of problem with the Overcome devs.
I appreciate that your only asking for info and not making demands, just want to make sure that someone doesnt see the title and decide to start rage posting without even reading.

I would be more than willing to work on a CDMA tab, given I had one That's the biggest set back really. I did help the other member try and get Overcome running on it, but its extremely difficult and slow to develop on a device I don't physically have in hand.

[REQUEST] Froyo ROM with Sense?

I know it's possible now since there are Desire and Incredible ROMs running Sense on Froyo, so I'd be very happy if a developer could figure out how to port one of those to the Eris. Obviously they're different screen resolutions (and the Desire is GSM instead of CDMA), but it must be possible. Thank you in advance!

Hah, for what? It's your 2nd post and your already trolling? The man is asking something pretty simple, if someone would be willing to do a port on an EXISTING rom or if anyone is currently working on one...no need to report.
Been around long enough to know no one likes it when people post these types of things. You think some dev hasn't already thought of this? You think his question is going to motivate them? It just clogs up the page.

If a dev has thought about it or has been messing with it, nobody knows about it yet(for the eris at least). Maybe someone who has worked on that type of thing (porting) or others might be interested.

Anyway, here's the link to 2.2 sense for the Incredible if anyone was interested in checking it out for a possible port.

lol...somehow I doubt a joining date of "July 2010" with 3 posts constitutes being "around long enough."
I don't know about everyone else, but I have no problem when someone posts a very benign request. There's nothing wrong with what thenestor did. He made a legit post throwing an idea out there with the hope that the devs would comment on the possibility of doing it.
What I do have a problem with is a new punk user coming in and throwing weight around that he doesn't have. The only problem with this thread is that you posted on it.

umm... that's a LEAKED rom... I believe theres a difference between LEAKED & ROOTED roms..
Once you go onto a leaked rom, you lose root privileges..which is NOT what you want...
Then again, he might just mean that its leaked to everyone else, thereby not really a leak..

please explain? im running a cyanogen Tazz froyo rom and i still have root privileges? is it gonna change if you port it from another devices?
From what I gathered, it's a leaked OTA ROM that has been modified with the superuser apk and such. So it should still allow for root access.

Depends slightly on what's being requested really. Requesting someone make a Sense 2.2 ROM is different from requesting that someone make a Sense 2.2 ROM with X Y and Z added and A B and C removed.
He's not requesting a customized ROM, just asking if someone was doing a Sense 2.2 ROM.

This is worse then my high school, honestly guys. If you have a problem with a question you can either:
A) Skip over it and let it float to the bottom
B) Say do it yourself
C) Try and say something worthwhile

thank you sir but we really should watch the name calling
and another note if you read any post ive made they are all geared towards A:learning B:helping others learn C:to have a good time
youl see i never created a thread . . . . EVER because i - A either use google myself B ask a developer in his thread or C-DEAL WITH IT UNTIL ITS FIXED OR RELEASED.
i enjoy learning and helping others learn but there becomes a point when people are asking to be spoon fed and i disagree with that strongly. If you feel that you need a place to be spoon fed. . . . Phandroid.com or androidforums.com seem to be very open minded towards that and helping code thief's prosper. i have no issues with either of said forums however "me personally" i chose XDA because its a reputable place to LEARN,
I appoligize to the XDA members who have to read this knowing D*** well this isn't necessary. Please read and obey the posting rules. Im not even a mod or any kind of status around here. If i were things would be a lot tighter around here.TRUST AND BELIEVE THAT.

[THINK TANK]backlight notifications on bottom buttons from i9000... port possible!?!?

backlight buttons used for notifications on the i9000
i remember seeing this before in the theme and apps section and it got ruled out for the vibrant because of kernel issues i think it was... but they figured it out for the i9000, so i hope we can see this on our phone... soon.
btw... please dont flame and tell me this is in the wrong thread, because it will get more views here... and its in this section of the i9000 thread.

well the source is there from the i9000 build, sounds like you need to get to work to fit your needs.
oh and it's in the development section in the i9000 section because there is DEVELOPMENT done, unless you plan on doing something this should go in the Q&A section.

Do your part by not being one of the members that purposely posts things in the wrong section. If the moderators did not feel the need for separate sections we would have one general forum.
And the reason the Q&A section doesn't get "much" attention is because people like you refuse to post there.. why would someone looks there if you continue to post here?

Really? Isn't the whole point behind a Think Tank to get people in here and try and get development done? Hmm seems to fit this thread perfectly. So what exactly is the problem now?
Edit: That configurable backlight timeout thread has nothing to do with this topic, It's a separate topic that in no way involves using the backlights as notifications. The other thread isn't a Think Tank so go flame in that one if your that hell bent on being useless to getting this to work on our phones.

Let me tell you something, kaschenberg. attn1 is the guy who set us on the road to CM6 for the Aria. If you have a problem with anything he says, go and flash back to the way your phone was when you bought it. Seriously. GO. RIGHT NOW. YOU ARE GONNA SHUT UP OR YOU ARE NOT GONNA USE CM6 OR LIBERATEDARIA OR *ANYTHING* ELSE ATTN1 HAS WORKED ON, GOT IT, YOU UNGRATEFUL ****?!?!
Now that that's done, more constructively: Keep in mind that your priorities are nowhere near the priorities of the community at large. While you may consider that feature "useful crap", most of us don't agree (if I were you, I'd spend some time in #liberatedAria on irc.freenode.org to figure out what our priorities are). Also, keep in mind that we're not the ones who decide which features go in to CM6. That's cyanogen's job. If you want to have control over the featureset, spend some quality time downloading AOSP and learning to work with Android. You can do whatever you want there, but don't expect us to play along.
Another thing, don't triple post in various forums and pick the right forums to post in, anyway. You haven't been doing a good job of that.
Also, attn1 may be coming off as an ass to you, but look at it from our perspective (everyone reading this on XDA right now and laughing at what an ass YOU are). You come in with a crazy feature request that is in no way representative of what WE (the community at large) want, and you immediately expect us to go with it and support you all the way. That's not how this works. Download Android's source, write some code, and show us that you know what you're talking about. Then, MAYBE, we'll listen.
Either way, I recommend you stop posting about the Aria on XDA for now and reconsider what you're doing. If you need help figuring that out, we're always around at #liberatedAria.

I have wanted this option for the last 25 minutes. I will admit, for about 90% of the day, I was undecided, but I finally came around and hope that your ROM will include all the cool features that I could imagine and MORE.
<@attn1> he's thinking Samsung's implementation of wifi direct....
<@attn1> with is a little diff - adds some new features.
<@attn1> but good luck - that's not going to be open source.
<@attn1> unless someone writes it for cm6, it won't be coming to the aria.
<@attn1> also, its not just mounting the sdcard on the pc, he wants to mount it reliably for booting.
<@attn1> like run a linux instance for his pc off the phones sdcard
<@dku> not possible.
<@dku> the SD's boot sector needs to be exposed
<@dku> which android's mounting doesn't do
<@dku> it exposes specific partitions
<@dku> which is not enough
<@attn1> MAYBE with custom recovery designed to do that
<@attn1> android is not in the picture
<@shad0wf0x> yea, need to mount the sdcard, not partition 1
Come join us in #liberatedaria
This may be a noob question, but I can't find info anywhere. Will wifi direct let me intall apks on my comp and boot them on my phone over wifi? If we can use an SD as external storage and can access phone files over wifi, then why can't we combine the two? This would be greater than apps2sd for sure. Can't wait for your ROM.

[rant] Thhis community is seriously lacking.

There is NO organization here. No moderation. The bible isn't kept up to date, the different variations of the Tab are thrown all into one pot. The Dev forum is a HUGE mess. And there's no easy way to find the stock roms.
This seriously has to change. I see this as a huge mark on the community I consider myself a member of. Have you guys seen any of the other forums? Very nice. Especially the Vibrant forums where I come from. Why can't we have that kind of organization? It's seriously needed. Mods, where the hell are you guys? Why are you not doing your jobs and keeping this place cleaned up?
Noobs! Stop asking questions and search. I'm sick of seeing question threads posted in the development forum. I dunno about you, but I see a Q&A forum. USE IT.
Devs, maybe you guys can collaborate and make a super ROM that would be awesome and actually have everything working.
And would it kill someone to make an AT&T and T-Mobile ROM without the voice calls?
/rant
Its threads like these that make it **** house.
Could a Mod hit the delete button on this waste of time thread please..?
Good to see you're helping clear this 'mess' up.

yeah Devs, if you don't sort it out im telling Samsung your not doing their job's properly.
pffff I don't know why I pay you people...
These forums seem fine to me.

If you can do better, go do it. Otherwise go be a douche somewhere else.
This place is a mess but it is a world apart from the vibrant thread. They may be organized but they will disembowel you for asking a noob question. They are 6 months ahead of us in development and experience. Their phone is distributed in mostly English speaking countries, many of our members struggle to understand our posts. Why don't you go away. You have caused more flaming in one thread than I have seen in months! Good job.

If it is that much of an issue, why don't you do it yourself?

I love that in one sentence, you request a super ROM that would "actually have everything working"... yet in your very next sentence you are requesting a ROM that specifically strips a function out.
huh?

Development thread and Q&A/General threads always end up the same... you know.. because people in dev section just noob it.
So...
Let's give some estimates?
I say I ll have ICS running in no more than 34 hours.

If wiping it doesn't work, paint it blue(Will match the ICS theme too) and throw it in the sea. It's effective. You'll never have problems with that phone again.

It's a good thing that noobull****(You know, noobs' bull**** ) tend to be seperated from development thread. They just tend to though. When the day comes that XDA forums will be divided in noob and developer forums and noobs stick to their rightful place, then XDA will be a better place.Ahh Utopia...
To avoid misunderstandings:
I don't call anyone who isn't a developer a noob.If I did,I'd be calling 90% of XDA's users, including me and people much better than me,noobs.Noobs are those typical idiots with that strange sense of entitlement to other, more skilled people's work, while they don't contribute to anything.Although I'm pretty sure most of you know what I mean...

You either speek Greek for some reason,or we Greeks are much more common than I thought.
Anyway, yes,we've all acted noobish at times, but there are two types of noobs as I have said elsewhere:
i)The "I want to learn" noob, who is the good noob and the one to be deprived of his noobishness quickly and once and for all.
ii)The "I'm an ass and think I deserve it all" noob, who is that typical idiot that asks the same question that was answered two posts above his.Number (ii) is the plague of every tech forum, not only XDA.
Being a noob isn't bad by itself. The problem is which noob type you choose to be.

I choose number 1..That is the kinda noob i consider myself to be..There are still things i am learning...Do not thing it would be to the level of dev or themer but i feel pretty good so far in what i have learned in the short space i have been using android.
Rant... ish.
I don't think it's just forums where you find this issue. The world seems to be full of people these days who seem to think that the entire planet owes them something although they have probably not done a days honest work in their entire pathetic existence.
Rather off-topic wouldn't you say

Always happy to see that there is "just-one-more" of us.
Anyway,I don't have the XDA bug at such a degree,but I do have some bad ORD(Obsessive Rom-flashing Disorder).Blood examination didn't show anything.I'll try acupuncture.
