Hey ppl!
Does one know if ROM's are interchangeable between Scandinavian, Germany and other (normal) Desire Z's?
And if they are, how does the keyboard work, like the one where ROM was taken or like it should?
(Keen on changing G2 rom to my Z)

I did not find a thread yet that talks about the compatibility of the HTC Magic with the Dream.
Please can users of the HTC Magic post their experience and tips with the necessary links where this has been gained from the Dream forum
Compatibility should be near 100%. The only programs that won't be compatible are the ones requiring a physical keyboard. Aside from those, the devices are virtually identical anyways, so a magic running android 1.5 will run all the same programs as a dream running android 1.5.
I was wondering this too. I am waiting for this phone to land in the U.S., but am reading as much as I can about it. My only question is, the ability to download different keyboards. Currently I am looking for a T9 dialer keyboard app. The only I have found is this one:

Anyone else know any good keyboard apps like this one?

Click to collapse
Ar eyou sure they were rom specific features.
They sound more like downloads from the market. ie better keyboard skinned to white etc
not sure but it is possible
I am pretty sure.
I think it was a ported version of 32a (HTC)
The background color of the icons was Orange when clicked
The phone icon and the contacts icon were Orange, multitouch, and so on.

double post, my fault.....posted from magic ....
Never seen anything like that I have tried many roms but doesnt ring any bells with me sorry
oh, and the dialer....it has that white dialer....the one that you can press for example 326 and it searches Dan
Found something close to the one i am talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532902
sound like the one i'm currently using.
i used nk02 multilanguage beta3 from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524229
i find it to be slower than the default vodafone rom, but i like the dialer, the camera and the fact that i can use it with exchange without a third party app.
EDIT: if i could figure out how to get the features i like from my current rom into the default vodafone rom, i'd probably do that.
Extract update.zip to a folder, then delete and add what you require.when your done rezip jthe files and use testsign.jar to resign the update.zip.there are walkthroughs in android development section
Hi
I have a rooted HTC Hero (from Telus, Canada)
I installed Villainrom 10.3.2, but I don't like Sense that much, so I tought of changing to a vanilla ROM. Especially, I would like to have the application "contact" instead of "people" and the vanilla google phone. I don't care that much about facebook integration and I don't tweet. I simply want something fast and usable.
I can't figure what the main differences between ezHero and VanillaEclair are? Which one is more popular? I saw there is also SuperHero which is supposed to be a mix of sense and vanilla.
Any recommendation?
I also have telus hero,i use ezhero, I've gone though them all, love vanilla roms this is the best I've come across... If you don't like android keyboard, swype and htc_ime keyboards can be found with a quick google search
Sent from my EzHero using XDA App
thanks
I tried it and it works well so far.
Only downside, when I select the French Canada locale, the keyboard is in AZERTY mode (as most French speakers use, but we in Canada use QWERTY).
But I don't know any ROM which has it fine, except the original canadian ROMs.
I found a workarround: install the anykeyboard app.
Next thing I would like to know, is there a way, when changing of ROM, to do not loose all my settings and installed apps?
I heard that ez hero is fabulous!
what is the most vanilla ROM? I prefer adding apps myself, most ROMS here seems to be really customized and it seems to add bugs.
Hi Guys What HTC Phone Should I Choose That Have Android, I'm Choose HTC Wildfire, Is It Better? As I'm Buying A New Phone
That will depend on what are your personal needs, if you are coming for Universal you´ll fin out that it´s not easy to migrate to a non hardware keyboard (at least that was my experience) I 1st migrated to Rhodium and then to Leo but to be honest I still miss a hardware keyboard...
I´m quite happy with my Leo (besides kb) as i can have the best of both OS´s: WM and Android
Moderators are pleased to move this topic if I posted it to wrong forum, sorry.
I was shocked when tried white-energy's Feather Desire HD Build with the 100% translated Serbian language. Tried some more ( Bulgarian, German ) and found them perfect too. While waiting for white-energy to support ext4 data partition on SD card I decided to try andrewf403's AF403 DesireHD rom. I've installed Gingerbread keyboard ( search Marketplace for "Keyboard from Android 2.3" ) there and got the same results as with Feather Desire HD Build. Now, the catch is ( thanks to xMareXx ) not to manualy choose your language ( you'll lose your location in Clock widget and get some more force-close issues this way ) but go thru Setup process again setting your language there. The keyboard itself isn't required and you may continue using default HTC or any other keyboard. Serbian keyboard from Gingerbread is Cirilic only so I'm using HTC's wich have very well supported Serbian latin characters. I didn't try this in other roms, but I'm sure it will work on Desire Z based roms too. If somebody try on Desire or Evo rom, please tell me the result.
i am using projections desire based NAND ROM.
sorry, i can't give any feedback for multilingual improvements that result due to installing the gingerbread keyboard as you have suggested. this is mainly because i am not a multilingual user so i don't know what to look for, neither will i understand any language i switch to for testing
but i just wanted to say thanks for the information about an EASY way to install a keyboard! sometimes, i don't think about the simpler ways! the installation experience this time was magnitudes better and easier than the last time i changed a keyboard (added droid x keyboard to phiremod's skinny evo some months ago).
