Take it to a tmo store. They'll replace it for you. Just make sure its stock first.

Hey,
I rooted my rogers htc magic but something seems to have gone astray because now even when I use my original nandroid 2.2 backup My phone won't recognize any SIM card, or when I factory reset it. Any Ideas??
Have you tried entering in APN settings again?

Hey guys i need help.
i have android 2.2.1 installed on my hd2. it worked perfectly fine with my old simple mobile sim card. now when i changed to another sim card of another company, it doesn't work. it prompts for a sim network unlock pin!!!
wat should i do to unlock the pin????
p.s the new sim is fine and works perfectly with all other phones
You need to phone your old service provider and they will give you the unlock code so you can use different sim cards on your phone .

and dont keep trying till you get an unlock code! you only get so many attempts at entering a pin before the phone locks up for good.
Dear experts,
I just bought the Mytouch 4G off Ebay for my wife's birthday (unlocked so no contract). I have rooted an LG Optimus T before so I thought I could do the same to this phone. My only problem is that I did not have a sim card in hand so I rooted and upgraded the Royal Ginger Rom without the sim card. Now my phone is working perfectly but there is an error of "no sim card, emergency calls only," even after I insert a sim card that works with another phone. I am running out of ideas, the only thing to try is to somehow load the factory default which I did not back up. At the moment with gfree, s=off, please help :-(...
Here is stock nandroid-

Restore and see if this works. Also I believe you have to activate your sim to register with tmo.
Thanks, did the back up method and everything is finally working again!!!
Your gift is half cool without virtuous unity ROM since phone is working try it.
I've got an unlocked Australian (Telstra) Samsung Galaxy S i9000T that I've been using on the Optus network (with Amaysim).
I've run numerous stock and custom ROMs and recently backed up the /efs folder (using: "tar -czf /sdcard/Download/blah.tar.gz efs") after some scares with boot loops while trying to load a new Devil kernel with my TeamNYX RC5 Android 4.0.4 ICS ROM.
With these custom ROMs the phone identifies itself as an i9000 (instead of i9000T that it showed with the Telstra FROYO.JP8 ROM).
The other day the airplane mode became unavailable and I lost the mobile network.
I've tried going back to the original ROM (got it with Check Fus) and done factory resets etc but I still get emergency calls only.
I've tried swapping sims and my sim works in the other phone but no sim will work in my phone.
I've also reloaded my efs folder but nothing has helped.
I've check the "Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association" web site to see if my IMEI is barred/blocked and it's not.
Does anyone have an idea on how to work out whats going on and what can be done to investigate/fix the problem ?
This forum always had a search function. Web, tapalk or xda app has it.

problem would be due to branded phone, meaning you need a telstra ROM, for it to connect to telstra network.. try this https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=da77fff5eaaed269&id=DA77FFF5EAAED269!296 and its not easy to get one
xsenman,
I'm currently back on the stock Telstra branded ROM (obtained with CheckFus) but with the same problem.
Also, I'm not trying to connect to the Telstra network. I just trying to use Amaysim (via Optus) that has always worked before.
I'm guessing it's one of three problems:
- Corrupted EFS (but my IMEI is correct)
- A block that the Australian data base doesn't know about
- An actual hardware problem
I've tried a lot of things including have the phone re-create /efs and then I put the imei folder back.
I'm wondering how to track down the cause. I.e. is there a way to examine logs of why not able to get on the network?

O-T,
I've read that thread. That was how I backed up my /efs before this problem.
I was never able to get the /dev/block/st13 though and just have the efs folder.

If your IMEI, is correct, it is not an EFS problem, but has to do with network settings, try menu> settings> wireless & Networks>mobile settings,
If your SIM is from telstra, than don't use optus or other networks
you can try the ROM and CSC file form link i posted earlier

xsenman,
My sim is from Amaysim and worked before with the stock Telstra ROM that I've gone back to now. I've not tried your ROM as it looks like to be the stock one I'm using.
I can't access the "mobile networks" settings as the phone doesn't think I've got a sim installed at all.
It looks like a hardware problem.
Could this be a boot loader / radio mismatch ?
Also, is there any reason to not always use the latest version of Odin I have ?

Also could happen, IF SIM card is inserted the wrong way, cleaning the SIM contacts , using any Odin will do or try using another SIM card

You're right.
Problem solved. Amazingly the I9000 doesn't stop you from putting the SIM card in the wrong way round.
Thanks for your help.
Hey Guys,
I have a question i keep getting this error on my phone
Code:
sim card not recognized ,please insert sim card
while the sim card is inside just received it from the US/Verizon about to use it for IAM GSM Morocco , i know verizon use CDMA and also know that the phone is unlocked but i can't seem to get my sim cards recognized i tried 2 micro sim from IAM, and the option to check GSM instead of global or CMDA i cant i get blocked by the same error i rebooted the phone no changes
Ok when I got my Droid M I got the exact same message. I assume you're on the stock rom. Even though I got this message, I still managed to get access to my local Network because the Droid M does not disable GSM if youre outside the U.S.A.
You're in Morocco so you shouldn't have any problems getting GSM network to work. Try another sim. The message you are getting is easily disabled using Titanium Backup. I'll post it up once I find it, I haven't had to do it for a long time.

I did try another sim card that works in another phone i get the same error i cant even select GSM in the setting its always in Global
