Htc Magic no longer recognizes Sim cards - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey,
I rooted my rogers htc magic but something seems to have gone astray because now even when I use my original nandroid 2.2 backup My phone won't recognize any SIM card, or when I factory reset it. Any Ideas??

Have you tried entering in APN settings again?

Network issues

I am not really sure what happened. I have JF1.51 installed on my g1 and haven't had any issues at all with it. Today for some reason my phone stopped recognizing the t-mobile network. I tried multiple sim cards and haven't had any luck. My wife has a completely stock g1 and her phone works fine even with my sim card in it. I have tried going into call settings and it just says network error. I know that the phone is still under warranty, but I can't downgrade back to rc29 because I won't be able to re download the updates since I can't log into my gmail account. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do? I really can't afford a new phone. I could just install one of the roms that doesn't have any theme modifications, but not sure if they would noticed I have an updated spl and radio and apps2sd. Please give me some ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated.

changed Sim card and broke apps

Hi, using a custom ion rom on my vodafone magic (unlocked).
Recently ported my number to t-mobile uk and today put the sim in.
All my apps broke and lost settings.
I did a wipe hard reset and I am still missing the gmail app (shows a box and says app is not installed).
Anyone else experience this?
Factory wipe.
If you've done this procedure already.
Might I suggest possibly ROOTING your phone for the sake of being able to install a custom ROM...not to mention being able to have that GMail application pushed to your phone from that packaged update.
Just a suggestion.
As for the SIM card switch being the potential cause of that issue. That is highly unlikely that it would REMOVE or corrupt the application. However, your SIM card is linked to the service, the service links the data, and the data is used by Google to forward their servers to a mobile device. It could be a number of things really.
I would try and wipe, reboot, and then go from there.
Hi, the phone was already rooted.
Anyway, I decided I needed something working so flashed a Hero ported rom, and lo and behold it is pretty slow.
Guess I'll be looking for some ion/magic roms.

data/cellular connection gone after flashing donut???

ok so heres the issue,,,some one the command where not working on my stock donut running on my mytouch 3g (original) i thought this maybe be why my "checkin" request always errored out so i decided to reflash/reinstall donut. the file i used was from the google server but didnt not install. it gave me a few error about the bootloader and aborted. ever since this was done i cannot get a signal. my tmo card gives shows 3g but doesnt not connect to data and my at&t sim doesnt show a signal period (both apn's are entered and are correct)
any idea on how to fix this? or how to correctly flash the official donut file?
Update: the phone did a wipe so im back at the login menu for the google acct so now i cant even access the sd card and i dont have a reader. is there another way to get to the card and add/remove files with usb to phone?

Please help with Birthday Present

Dear experts,
I just bought the Mytouch 4G off Ebay for my wife's birthday (unlocked so no contract). I have rooted an LG Optimus T before so I thought I could do the same to this phone. My only problem is that I did not have a sim card in hand so I rooted and upgraded the Royal Ginger Rom without the sim card. Now my phone is working perfectly but there is an error of "no sim card, emergency calls only," even after I insert a sim card that works with another phone. I am running out of ideas, the only thing to try is to somehow load the factory default which I did not back up. At the moment with gfree, s=off, please help :-(...
Here is stock nandroid-

Restore and see if this works. Also I believe you have to activate your sim to register with tmo.
Thanks, did the back up method and everything is finally working again!!!
Your gift is half cool without virtuous unity ROM since phone is working try it.

I got to say, your panic is not going to help. First I want you to take a deep breath, and relax. Now, in order for us to help you. We need to have more information. More specifically, the following: Do you have roo. boot loader unlocked? What carrier are you using? What ROM and kernel you're using? Is your sim good? Are you using a micro sim? What radioband you're using? Is your sim card adapter slot damaged? Is your imei bad? Now you need to put this in a detailed explanation with what you have done with your device up until the point in where your phone stopped working.
stock room, one week old device, no root or nothing similar, the phone doesn't show imei number just blank window (*#06#)

If it's stock and all you did was do an OTA upgrade to 4.2.2 have you tried talking to your carrier? Being only a week old I would use their assistance to your advantage especially if you did not unlock/root the device. (not sure how you came across the sim card, if it was sold with the phone like it was with mine at T-Mobile, or if you just got the phone and then used a sim from the carrier).
but t mobile will send nexus to repair's for a month so do not want to be w/o my phone for so long.I'd like to solve it home...
