[SOLVED] Help with .log - Notifications Crash - Epic 4G General

Hey guys,
I've had a notification issue on both 2.1 and 2.2.
The Issue, specifically: I go into Handcent SMS, select an SMS thread, go to change a person's notification tone, Open up System Notifications list-- when I select a notification tone, tone does not play, handcent crashes.
After that point, even if I go into change the default android sounds (in android settings), anytime that system ringtone/notification dialog window comes up, and I select a tone, it crashes (sometimes crashes phone with a chain of FCs).
Any time I wipe and reflash, it works fine for a short period of time (days).
Thinking it might be corrupted audio files, I've tried dropping a .nomedia file on my sdcard/media/ folder to isolate the /system rings, but no conclusive differences.
Another thing I noticed in the logs was references to DRM. I HAVE removed the 2 DRM apks from 2.2, if relevant (and had the 3 removed in 2.1)
It happened last night again, and I captured a log. I can identify where in the log it happens, but don't have much experience in debugging. The log is capturing exactly the process I explained in the beginning (repeated a few times). Can anyone help me get to the bottom of this? (or know any resources to troubleshoot with these logs?) I'm not looking to solve this--- more looking to understand it
Seemingly relevant portion of the log attached.
Here's a snippet too:

Was my post too long? Someone's gotta know bump

..........

Ok.. I figured it out (this is the lonliest thread on the interweb)..
So, the issue was with the 2 drm apks that i have removed every time I've flashed a rom. I puled copies of them out of the latest quantum 1.2 rom and pushed them to my system/app/ , fixed permissions, restarted, and now, I can freely change my notification and ringtones without my device locking up or crashing. Joy.
What id like to know is, does the drm check all media files? Or is there drm inside the ogg, mp3 or wma tone or tones that I currently have? Or, is there something else I can get rid of that makes running the drm a requirement?
Since I reloaded the drm apks, everything sees to work fine, even if I kill the drm process, but that leads me to believe its still running somewhere. If anyone knows anything about this.. I'll start doing my research too.

Hey, I have the same problem. Can you explain in further detail how you solved it. Where can I get the .apk that you said you placed into /system/app/ ? I am running this on a Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I am writing an app, and all that I want to do is play some video files. The app works on every other android device that I have used, except this one. Any help is appreciated.
Neil

Pretty sure Deca is talking about drmprovider.apk. and drmUa.apk. They're like the main Drm apks on our epics if not the only.

Netflix .apk for android

Here is the Netflix .apk from the LG Revolution system dump.
Git it installed on my Nexus S and my Xoom
You can log in and view movie that are available for ondemand viewing and movie que.
Only problem is it won't play the movie..
Maybe one of the Super Devs on here can fix that..
Get this error on my Nexus S Rooted with CM7 - "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit netflix.com. (1005)"
On my stock Xoom - When clicking on the video it trys to load than just reverts back to the Netflix home screen
I keep getting problem parsing package ...

There's the issue, it has to do with the drm, or lack thereof on our devices.
Guess they weren't lying when they said it would only be specific devices with drm built into the chipsets.

maybe someone can edit the apk and disable the check?

Maybe, but it looks like it may require it to play, if there were a way to pull the drm files themselves and stash it on the sd card or in /system and then we may be able to get it working by editing the apk to reroute the check wherever the drm would now be stored instead.

If it can be done, I'm sure it will be done here first!!
I'm excited, but prepared for disappointment :/
fwiw, been looking at this for a while.. the call to drm.play is made from libnetflixmp_jni.so that is packaged in the apk so modding the apk isn't likely to get very far.
bummer

c'mon a nexus S cant play it? that phone is insane
http://gadgetian.com/5277/lg-revolution-4g-lte-full-specs/ i dont see anything xtra special except 3d graphics accelerator and 16gb onboard memory compared to say the nexus s or even the hd2 processor is only a 1ghz qualacom
Actually neither a nexus s or a xoom will ever be able to play it in its current state. It all has to do with the processor, you're gonna need a qualcomm chipset, it calls for codecs in the qualcomm snapdragon chipset, and the nexus s runs off of samsungs hummingbird while the xoom utilizes the tegra 2

Yes, a few days ago it was randomly working on a bunch of devices, two of the ones you named made by htc using qualcomm chips, I've yet to hear of a nexus s getting lucky with it. Try pulling a log while running it, it calls for components listed as omx.qcom.****** key point is that it's calling for qualcomm components, which the nexus s does not have.
Now, should I have said that it will never run on a nexus s, who knows, anythings possible on this site, but as it stands now, the nexus s doesn't have those components.

[REQUEST]WIUI v4

I would totally love to see this awesome rom ported to our bravos!! If any devs are interested please make this happen that would be so legit... thanks guys
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire with CM9 using XDA
As would I. I'll mess with it a bit today and see what happens. I may be able to make a Quarx 05\26 + Wiui v4 hybrid rom. I just haven't had very good luck with v4 porting at all. Most v4 ports I've attempted either freeze at bootlogo or bootloop.
My patchrom v4 based on Quarx 05\12 actually booted into the system, but errors from systemui, the home launcher, telephony, and others make it completely unusable. It took about 10~20 minutes just to get through the gapps setup wizard. I'm gonna try patchrom again with a slightly modified Quarx 05\26 cm9 (just bootmenu fixes).
I've been waiting on for a Spanish Translation so I could finish up Pikachu before starting anything else; but I start to get that itch if I'm not tweakin something.
Stuck on boot. Errors with netd. Here's the logcat if someone knows where to go from here. I know that the insmod errors are, but unsure of netd.

While I haven't tried it, it may be possible to replace /system/app/* and /system/framework/framework-res.apk from Wiui 2.5.27 GB version and replace them in the Pikachu Port. Then add in /system/framework/* from Wiui if that doesn't work, followed by /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so from Wiui.
You'll also have to add in the init scripts and build.prop mods (all at the bottom) from Wiui as well.
If /system/framework/* has to be replaced, then the Volume Step and Pdroid mods won't work since they require modifying a few framework jars.
Replacing /system/app/* and /system/framewokr/framework-res.apk from Miui.es with aleeyt's 2.4.40 is all I did to port Miui.es over to the Bravo.
I'll give that a shot tomorrow and I think (hope actually) that it'll work. A Wiui\Pikachu Hybird would be neat; although I'd really like a v4 rom.
As far as the netd problem is concerned, apparently its an incompatible lib that's the problem. libandroid_runtime.so was the recommended fix, but neither Wiui's nor Quarx's would work and each had the netd error (Quarx's also had libc.so errors and others as well).
Perhaps using Quarx CM9 2012\05\12 would work better since Wiui ICS is based on an earlier Quarx CM9 rom. The latest Quarx Defy CM9 is 03\08, but it could be and probably is built from Defy+ 05\11 (the roms build date according to build.prop).
Late (sort of) and work tomorrow. Later all.
@short_sam -- Check your PM's and let me know how it runs for you.
Here skeevy I actually got this version to boot and its rather stable just no camera due to it being for defy

Downloading now, Chinese registration was a MF. Looks more uptodate than Wiui, at least the base rom does.

i think the problem is most likely due to >> userial_open: wrong numbers of open fd in vendor lib [2]!
what exactly is "fd"?

Nexus 4 stuck in boot animation

I had a nexus4 that had a broken screen - I sent it off to have it fixed and when it came back it was stuck in the boot animation.
I thought they must have messed something up, so I cleared everything and reflashed the latest factory image with fastboot. Still stuck. Then I went back through the factory images, none worked until I got to the very first one: occam-jdq39 - 4.2.2. That booted fine and works fine. Then I tried doing the OTA update from 4.2.2 to 4.3 and it got stuck again! So back to fastboot, installed 4.2.2, ok again.
I also installed TWRP, did advance wipe, tried installing cyanogen, also gets stuck in the boot animation.
I have tried all this several times, tried leaving it booting for hours (it gets quite hot). I did manage to get a boot log using adb once of the hung boot of the OTA 4.3 update. It seemed to be in a loop, there are some errors in the log, eg:
D/ (19277): csd_client_init

Any ideas of what else I can try? I've not got much hope here as there have been a few similar threads with no solutions!
No ideas?
