I have better GPS connection after JPJPG(OFFICIAL through kies)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

For Market: In phone dialer enter *#272*IMEI# . This wilk give u option to change from XSS to XSG, xsg has market enabled, by doing so you phone will reset, IMEI is number for you mobile handset, XSG is universal
OR
use attached market apk for XSS mobile, use Clockwork mode to "install from zip file" if you dont have Clock work mode, rename the zip to "update" and apply in Recovery

Battery is not draining that quickly but wifi sucks
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

JPJPG is available through Kies aswell, If you are on JPJPA, flash back to JPJG8 and connect your mobile to Kies, It will offer you JPG upgrade, Before flashing back you need to backup your data/ sms/call logs etc and then flash back

Quick questions guys:
Just got 2.2 through Kies. I now need to re-download my apps, over 90% of them are not showing through the market, not even through search. Im guessing I have to change again to XSG like I did when I had 2.1, then root again as well to enable Market Enabler and access paid apps like I used to (which I did with Ryanza)
1. Old XSG access code (HHMM) gets rejected, new code IMEI gets rejected,is there a way to enable this without flashing etc (i'm a very low-tech person)
2. How do I root this phone, Ryanza's, the only step by step guide I got for this was based on downloading odin with root kernel for JPH, as you know we are running on jpjpg.
3. Are you guys experiencing lags? I'm not so far.
Would really appreciate your help, with easy shortcuts. Never used odin ..etc...but was willing to give it a try until i noticed the different kernel code.
Thanks!

I Upgraded to Froyo Through Kies. The build number is JPJPG.
The App Drawer has major lag when changing pages. It was much faster with the stock Eclair rom. GPS is still the same, it was not fixed at all. I have not noticed any improvement in Battery life either.
2. How do I root this phone, Ryanza's, the only step by step guide I got for this was based on downloading odin with root kernel for JPH, as you know we are running on jpjpg.

Thanks! Was able to root my phone. But still can't use Market Enabler, it require SU APP + busybox. Any idea what are these and easy was to install?

Hi:
I updated my european SGS through kies last week, but i cant become root now...
Its posible for now become root and how?
Thanks in advance

I also got the update through Kies last friday, nov 19th. My phone had the 3 button recovery issue, I found a fix here on xda (will get the link later, its bookmarked on another pc)
I also installed voodoo lagfix PRE6, and the phone is working like a charm, highest Quadrant score 1510. After installing voodoo lagfix, rooting is so easy. Just install superuser from the market, and bingo.
So I can confirm that JPJPG works fine with:
- Voodoo lagfix project-voodoo.org
- Flashing the boot loader to fix the 3 button recovery issue
- rooting
Need to ask a question, can anyone please backup the stock ROM and upload it somewhere? in case I ever need to go back to stock, I stupidly forgot to take a backup

To backup stock rom, you need Rom manager premium, It will install clockwork mode recovery, let me know If you have issues with that. Rom manager premium is paid but crack is available at blackdroid.net
Lgfix: I am using Universal lagfix (last option**No-RFS Overkill JFS: turns on all options: everything is jfs+ext2 and /data/data is bound to /dbdata**), it gives me a quardant score of 2100+
You get ULF from clockwork mode (install Rom Manager*free version* from market and open the app and the 1st option installs CWM) for details see this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734166&highlight=clockwork+mode

Hi,
I have used CF root using Odin, its takes 3-7 seconds
Download the this file "CF-Root-JPJPA-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1.zip" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
and open Odin 1.3, its better to keep odin and above zip file in one folder, lets say in C:\.......
Unzip this zip in the same folder
Once Odin is open, click PDA to browse (downloaded Unzip file)(CF-Root-JPJPA-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1) and Now shutdown you mobile (wait till its really off), press Volume down + power+Home simultaneously and bring your mobile in recovery mode, connect it to your computer, you will see 1st box on Odin will change its colour and it will comm 7 or 11
press start, it will reboot your mobile and you are rooted, let me know if you have any issues
For Market , download zip from post 6 and install via Clockwork mode

Hi
what is your firmware name, is it JPO/ JPA or JPJPG? (to check, in dialer type *#1234#) and is your 3 Button combination enabled??? if its not, enable it 1st from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810686
if you have enabled 3 button combo use the method described in previous posts

Which root you used, normally all the roots available in these forums install Su and Busybox, check in your apps if you see Busybox
if its not installed re-root the mobile using CF-root, its safe, and method is in above posts or check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108

[HOW TO] Galaxy S I9000 ROMs (Eclair & Froyo) on Captivate - Updated

The stock I9000 fixes many issues the Captivate ROM such as 'stalling' and has none of the AT&T installed bloatware. It's very fast by comparison, and everything is working great except for the FM Radio app and the Wireless tethering app. The stock I9000 firmware also allows sideloading applications so there is no need to edit the settings.db. Some people have reported issues with bluetooth and voice call quality. I haven't personally experienced any problems but be aware that some minor issues have been reported.
If you have problems getting into Download Mode try this method:
1. Take out your sim card, sd card, battery and open Odin3.
2. Put the battery in.
3. Plug in USB. (the phone will power on to that screen)
4. Hold down both Volume keys, and then push power. Hold it and dont let go.
5. Wait for it to go black.
6. When it goes black the 2nd time release power and keep holding the Vol Down and Vol Up.
You will need to be running the stock Captivate ROM. If you need to return to stock or fail to flash a ROM use the one-click application:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Eclair I9000 ROM
You'll need the following:
Odin, the zipped I9000 firmware and the 512 pit file from here: http://samfirmware.webs.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
Stock Captivate kernel from here: http://koush.tandtgaming.com//test/kernel-captivate-stock.tar.md5
New Method (Requires adb)
1) Remove SIM and MicroSD
2) Open Odin, load the I9000 PDA file (CODE_I9000xxxxx.tar.md5).
3) Check auto reboot and leave repartition unchecked.
4) Boot the phone into download mode (adb reboot download).
5) Flash.
6) Once the flash is complete the phone will be stuck in recovery.
7) Reopen Odin and load the stock Captivate kernel (kernel-captivate-stock.tar.md5.tar) in the PDA box and the 512 pit file.
8) From recovery boot the phone in download mode (adb reboot download).
9) Ensure auto reboot is checked and repartition is not checked.
10) Flash with Odin, the phone will boot.
11) Shut the phone down, replace SIM and microSD and reboot phone.
Older Method
1) Remove SIM and MicroSD
2) Open Odin, load the I9000 PDA file (CODE_I9000xxxxx.tar.md5) and the I9000 CSC file (CSC_I9000xxxxx.tar.md5).
3) Uncheck auto reboot and leave repartition unchecked.
4) Boot the phone into download mode (adb reboot download or boot phone while holding Volume Down + Power Be sure to HOLD Volume Down before holding Power) .
5) Flash.
6) Once the flash is complete (Odin will say RESET!) remove the battery, disconnect the USB cable and close Odin.
7) Reopen Odin and load the stock Captivate kernel (kernel-captivate-stock.tar.md5.tar) in the PDA box and the 512 pit file.
8) Ensure auto reboot IS checked and repartition is NOT checked.
9) Boot the phone into download mode (Volume Down + Power) then plug in the USB cable. If you don't put the phone in download mode before it boots you'll have to start from step 2.
10) Flash with Odin, the phone will boot.
11) Shut the phone down, replace SIM and microSD and reboot phone.
If you want root access use this (I9000) update.zip: http://www.multiupload.com/JHIFK9K80P
If you need a custom recovery use ROM Manager in the Market to install Clockwork MOD for I9000.
Froyo I9000 ROM (Early Release)
Please note that as there is no Froyo Captivate kernel the stock I9000 Froyo kernel will have to be used. Expect the following bugs:
Home Button functions as Back button.
Screen is rotated 90°. (Not a huge issue as there is a Notification button to disable rotate.)
Speaker/Headphone logic seems reversed, will only play audio through speaker when headphones are plugged in.
Proximity Sensor is not functioning.
You'll need the following:
Odin, zipped XXJP3 I9000 firmware and the 512 pit file from here: http://samfirmware.webs.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
1) Remove SIM and MicroSD
2) Open Odin, load the Froyo PDA file (I9000XXJP3-REV03-PDA-mid-CL470734.tar) and the Froyo CSC file (GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJP3.tar).
3) Leave auto reboot checked and repartition unchecked.
4) Boot the phone into download mode (adb reboot download or boot phone while holding Volume Down + Power Be sure to HOLD Volume Down before holding Power) .
5) Flash.
That's it, you can't flash the Captivate kernel since all available kernels are Eclair.
Please post or message me with any issues you have.
I'll be updating the post with advantages/disadvantages and bugs for both ROMs so please post your experiences.
Have a link to the I9000 files and a walkthrough for this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Grab the I9000 firmware and 512 pit from here:
http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/
and the Captivate kernel from here:
http://koush.tandtgaming.com//test/kernel-captivate-stock.tar.md5
Use Odin to flash the I9000 PDA and CSC. After that completes use Odin to flash the Captivate stock kernel. If you want root you'll need to use the I9000 root update.zip. Once the Market is working you can install the Clockwork Recovery for the I9000.

I've been running the latest I9000 firmware (XWJM2) on my Captivate by flashing the I9000 PDA and CSC, then the Captivate kernel. It's very fast, everything is working great except all my market downloads fail and Google Talk doesn't open.
Any ideas? I don't want to have to go back to the slow, bloated stock Captivate ROM.

You tried Market Enabler yet? Pretty sure the .apk is linked on XDA somewhere.
Oh, and are you SIM locked still?
What is you re market doing exactly? Don't care much fort the google talk. How about hardware function? Have you apply the mimocan kernel? Sorry about all the questions.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
How about wireless tethering and FM Radio? Do these work with the euro firmware ?
Reaver117,
Awesome Layout
thanks
@sl8125
All the hardware seems to function fine, I haven't applied the stall fix kernel because it's based off the I9000 source and the phone seems fast enough without it. As for the market, all market downloads fail with 'download was unsuccessful'.
@clubtech
The FM Radio app opens and seems to function, but if you try to scan it states 'Unable to turn radio on'. I haven't been able to test wireless tethering because I can't use my data plan until it's unlocked.
@larry996
I can make a detailed walkthrough but without a functioning market the phone is not very useful.
Is it really necessary to re-flash the captivate kernel? What happens if you don't?
Did flashing the PDA and CSC change the kernel?
Did you backup first then restore? If so which program did you use?
I have been following 2 threads over in the i9000 forum but was waiting for someone to try it on the captivate first. I noticed that some of them had to wait 12hrs or more for paid apps in the market to show up for them. Your market download error may be similar?
Did you record your APN information and add it back after flashing? I have seen that some people over in the i9000 forums had MMS and messaging issues.
If market start to work properly and there are more feedback I may give it a try.
Right now I am on stock:
PDA: I897UCJF6
PHONE: I897UCJF6
CSC: I897ATTJF6
To those wanting a guide. There is a PDF in the link that was posted.
h t t p: / / samsung-firmware.webs. com/Flash%20guide%20english.pdf
I hope you don't mind the all the questions, but when you post info like this its bound to happen.
If you don't flash the Captivate kernel then the volume buttons are reversed and the display is rotated 90°. I used the clockworkmod recovery to perform a nandroid backup. Flashing the PDA file replaces all system files including the kernel. I'm not having a problem with protected apps, nothing successfully downloads from the market. APN Backup will let you backup your APN info.

Had that with my stock rom happening where I get "unsuccessful download". After reading some forums someone suggested to clear the cache on the download manager and that did the trick for me.
Settings - Manage Apps (filter all) - Download Manager - clear cache.
Hope this helps.

REAVER117 please let us know if this sort your issue.
Solved it. When you apply the I9000 PDA and CSC files DO NOT check Re-Partition.
I'll post a step-by-step later tonight if anybody wants it. Running the I9000 firmware cuts out all the AT&T bloatware and adds some useful apps AT&T cut. Not to mention its MUCH faster and lets you sideload apps by default.

[TUT] T-Mobile UK Upgrading/root/lag fix and De-branding.

I take no credit for any of this work. I have added it all to one post to help make life a little easier for those who are wanting help in getting rid of any need of waiting for T-Mobile to release any firmware again. Credits will be added to all post at the bottom of the respective page. This TUT will also work with other networks.
If you have 3 Button Download mode you can jump to page 2.
Post 1: 3 Button Download Mode.
Post 2: Upgrade to Froyo.
Post 3: Rooting and lag fix.
Post 4: De-Branding.
3 Button Download.
I have run out of time to add this today i will finish off tomorrow. For now follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821698
Upgrade to Froyo.
PRELIMINARY NOTE:
[WARNING!] Do Not flash Any ROM (firmware) until you can get the 3 buttons DOWNLOAD MODE working, even with this Kies trick.
If you want to test the 3 buttons download mode then notice that you can switch back to normal mode by pulling the battery out and then back in. At the next boot the phone will be back in normal mode.
LAGFIX USERS:
[WARNING!] Remember to disable lagfix before to update.
This will avoid filesystem errors that may occurs at the boot of the new flashed firmware.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Download latest Kies Registry Patcher, tool is attachment. Note: It require Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or later version.
2) Update Kies to 1.5.3.10103.102.
3) Launch Kies Registry Patcher; If you patched the dll in the past with an older version of the patcher then be sure to launch new release as administrator since it have to revert the dll to the original version as the patch isn't needed anymore (Right click on application > Run as Administrator).
4) Launch Kies and connect your phone; Wait for Kies to recognize it properly.
5) You have 2 possibilities now:
5a) Drop down the combo-box "Spoof Product Code as" and select the wanted one. It should automatically fill the "Spoof Software Revision as" textbox with the needed data necessary to find your update.
This feature was added in order to give all the opportunity to use the needed product code. (Special thanks to MCOGW that shared with me his database of product codes/sw revisions).
The label above will be completed with the country related to the chosen product code.
5b) From patcher select:
File > Load Backup
Open the backup that you want to use (e.g. kies-backup-XEU.xml if you want to spoof your phone as XEU, or if your phone is XEU yet and you want to flash it again).
6) From patcher answer "YES" in order to apply the registry update.
7) From Kies you can now update as normal.
Remeber that this patch will remain ACTIVE until you set "Enable Spoof" field to False!
It's not a problem but ater you update the phone it's suggested to put that value to false so the patch become inactive.

De-branding.
To truly de-brand you need to get rid of the branded product code and have the correct CSC. Follow the steps below.
[WARNING] Make a full backup of your \efs folder just in case you go wrong or any errors occur.
You will need to be rooted and have the root explorer app installed from the market.
Copy your \efs folder to your pc and open nv_data.bin with note pad, Search for TMU and replace with XEU. If you can not find TMU try KOR. Save the file and and copy it back to your \efs folder on your handset. Delete the nv-data.md5 file off the handset and reboot. repeat steps with the nv_data.bak file.
Once completed change your CSC to XEU by typing *#272*(yourimei)# and click on XEU.
Now when Samsung release a new update you will get it straight away.
Sorry if I have missed any people in the credits. Please post with name and post number if poeple need to be added.

I'm rather new to all this and before I attempt to update my T-Mobile Galaxy S using the described 5(a) option, I would appreciate some advice, please.
I understand the instructions right up to the end of para 5(a) but at this point there is no "yes" button to click. However, there is a "Read Registry" button. Presumably I click this and will then be asked the click a "Yes" button to proceed with the update.
What then happens? What should I expect to see on the PC and on my phone?
Some step-by-step instructions would be much appreciated to boost my confidence!
P.S. I've already checked that I have the three-button system restore active on my phone.
Ain't done no root because I wil be ****ed if it bricks and I don't know no way of rooting without restore mode.

I've been running 2.2 on my T-Mobile UK Galaxy S for some time, but have never used or even installed Kies. I just installed the relevant USB drivers, then flashed a ROM I've downloaded from mirrors linked here with Odin3 (I've always had download mode working properly). Currently I'm using JPO with SpeedMod Kernel K10H, which provides root.
Hi i upgraded via the kies registry way all works well apart from i cant find where to switch between 2g and 3g. It was in mobile networks on 2.1 but its not there now also having issues using myplayer and beebplayer once again they worked in 2.1 but not on froyo atm. other then that alss good

It's very hard to totally brick your phone with ODIN, but there can be complications.
Before you do anything, make sure you have working 3br and download mode. If you don't have it, I don't recommened using Kies or ODIN.

Flashing with odin will not allow u to update with kies when the next release is issued as your product will stay the same and your software versions will be wrong so you will need to use odin again. Plus if odin is used wrong it can brick you phone

Nope, if you flash a full ROM via ODIN, including the CSC, it'll work fine. It'll even work on kies (although i don't know why anyone would want to do that )
Kies can also brick your phone >_>;

Updating to 2.3.4 firmware - if you don't want to root

HI
This is Just for People who want to flash 2.3.4 firmware or any other firmware but don't want to root their phones like me.
Again All Posts are within XDA and Due Thanks to the OP's and DEVS
I'll Try to be as informative and clear as possible ( Its more for the newbies )
First off all it has been stated this 2.3.4 is leaked and not official
So lets Begin
1. Install latest Kies of samsung > connect your phone and make sure all drivers are Installed and your phones is recognised in Kies > Backup if you wanna
2. Close Kies ( make sure its not running in the system tray) > Install ODIN
Get Odin v1.85 from here: http://www.multiupload.com/1RTGSE061G
Just extract Odin folder and keep the odin3.ini file in it.
How to USE ODIN in SECOND POST
3. Download your 2.3.4 Firmware ( or any other firmware you wish to flash)
a) Download Link Stock XXKG1 : http://www.multiupload.com/2EMBQMYF4V (via ficeto) or If you can find other links
and Extract It > you should have four files:
b) CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship (goes into PDA section)
GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1 (Goes into CSC section)
MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110 (Goes into Phone section)
u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit (not required)
4. Open ODIN and put the files in the respective TABS > Do not change (tick or untick any other boxes) read the second post by intratech
5. Put phone in Download Mode
a) DOWNLOAD MODE - Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button
b) Volume Up to get into Download Mode
c) Connect phone and wait till First Box in ODIN turns Green
d) Click Start and wait till phone flashes and Reboots automatically ( can take up to 15 mins)
e) Once phone reboots you are Done you can close ODIN

Flashing Firmware with Odin
1. Just download the firmware version you want from above and extract the .tar file in the archive and save it somewhere
2. Reboot your phone to download mode.
To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin
4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar file that you extracted in step 1
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Anyone ask about .pit file is a moron
Should look like this screenshot
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5705/odinm.jpg
If the package has 3 files it should look like this:
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/8290/odinxm.jpg
Regardless of firmware version it's still the same methodology
6. Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:COM section to turn yellow
7. Click start to flash
8. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device, it will reboot when it finishes.
It will not wipe your phone if you flash as recommended
Will I loose all my data and programs?
let me be the first to thank you
i am coming from iphone4 so all these terms and apps are new to me, and while i can use the search function a lot of times it takes several pages of read-thru to piece together what you have put in 1 concise post
btw i love the SG2 and android platform, steve jobs can toss my salad
If you flash any 2.3.3 you don't seem to loose any data... but yeah updating to 2.3.4 you do loose data and programs.
I didn't have many programs, but market restored most of them from me, and good to backup first.
Also kies gives me that I can't update firmware maybe cause its the latest one and it don't recognise the firmware.
Please be aware this is a leaked version, so if you want you could wait for the official one, I so far had no problems whatsoever
Just one noob question, SII being my first android phone, i assume that in order not to lose warranty you still have to use USB jig to reset rom counter if something bad happens, right ?

Sorry I have no clue about that But I guess you could always flash the carrier branded firmware from INTRATECH's posts.. links in my first post as well.
I guess it only applies if you root your phone (I could be wrong).

If you are using stock kernel there is no counting in custom binary,so no problem with your warranty. You can check your counter if you go to download mode.By the way usb jig is always usefull.

Is it possible to use another CSC from older stock releases together with this? ie, flashing this, and then after that flashing the multi CSC "MultiCSC OXXKF1" for instance? The reason im asking is that ppl have reported this rom to not include the nordic keyboard's for swype etc, and thats sort of a gamebreaker for me.

tanx so much!!!..i`m downloading...keep it up bro
There is one thing I don't understand how to do. Before I flash my firmware with the new 2.3.4 version, I would like to take a copy of my existing firmware from my phone first and save it to my PC. So that I have the option of putting my phone back to how it was if for some reason I want to revert my phone. I understand that I would need to buy a jig to reset the update counter.
So is it possible to save my existing firmware to my PC first?
I did try looking at the download page but there were so many different countries and carrier versions that I found it confusing. I am stock KF3 uk unbranded O2 still running 2.3.3
Thanks
Thank you tfn. Great instructions, I am loving the new update.

Using it. Same as updates as LA4 if nothing more. Only problem is the torch widget. It doesnt work like the one on LA4 where it has 3 different brightness of the light.... All 3 tier of the brightness is the same on mine. But that could be cause by the speedmod kernel i am using

the "new text memo" and "new drawing memo" buttons of S Memo look different now. anybody knows what's changed?
On my Austrian Note (ATO), it has very old software (XXKKA from November). And both OTA and Kies updates says no updates available.
What do I do? Reset and change sales country code to German for example, which is known to be getting updates (in that case what number is best for latest updates)?
Or should I forget about official update process and download and install it manually? (in this case where is good source to download it? Also is it Odin software that I will need to update?)
Thank you.

Kies always has problem. it's like a girl on he rperiod, u never know when th eupdates gonna pop. just go to the dev section there should be a sticky on official roms and instruction to flash it. Recomend mobile odin. Never have to worry about root again and it doesnt jack up you binary counter. Do pay attention if the rom is wipe or none wipe tho, just in case u want to sav your data.

I'm unable to update to LA2 from KK1 via OTA. Tried several times with or without ext SD card, rooted/unrooted through CWM, energy saving mode on or off etc. everytime fails at 10%.
My Note is rooted using Zergrush exploit explained at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
All root apps work so I got the right KK1 Kernel.
Anyone else having this issue? I understand using Kies will break my root so what other method can I use to update to HK's LA2 without loosing root?
For what it's worth... my Note being on KK1 is really fast ... if it ain't broke... what benefits would I have running at LA2?
Any ideas?
upgrade with kies, then root it again.
other method will wipe every apps and data. such ad odin.

From my experience it is just boot into recovery mode (samsung), then select root.zip from sdcard. More or less the same method. CWM kind of out dated.
I did this kind of root for Samsung ACE, galaxy tab etc, surely can do so for note. Maybe needing old keneral as intermid steps. Like S2 etc.
No worrys 無問提*^_^*

For the Hong Kong People, the only way to upgrade and keep root, is to use Mobile Odin. Explained in the sticky in the Dev Section.
If you need to download the firmware, there is a hotfile link in the sticky, or alternately google Checkfus, and download version 2.1 for PC. Run it, select android, select GT-N7000, and then Hong Kong, and download. (Or any other if you want them)
Move it to your device and flash via mobile odin.
exactly! did just that... installed / bought Odin Mobile Pro, downloaded the latest ROM and flashed. Got LA2 now and still have root
you can now use the black wallpaper as lockscreen without the banding.
I was on XXLA4, I then flash to ZSLA2 using mobile odin. While Applying multi-csc it said couldn't access /system/*/XEU/* folder.
It then went into manual mode and I chose reboot. Everything looks fine except when I check the version using *#1234#, the CSC is unknown.
Flashed back to XXLA4 and got the same error. Again everything seems fine, phone came back up but *#1234# list CSC as unknown. Anyone seen this before?
Thanks

Yes, Iv'e had this when coming from another CSC.
Usually once I flash back to stock TGY firmware, I boot into android, then set up skipping the google services, and reboot into recovery and it corrects itself. I.e. This with stock firmware / kernel.
The last time i did this, flashed an update using mobile odin, and the csc files refused to apply, so I extracted the CSC zip and flashed manually in recovery. All was well then, and I could choose TGY again.

Yep. Same issue here. Updated via mobile Odin pro and CSC is unknown.
Can you provide a link where to download /get the CSC zip for TGY?

I extracted it. Will post here, as it needed to be changed to ext4 format etc.. Blah blah blah. Give me 5 mins .
EDIT: 5 minutes up, here it is. Just flash in recovery, then your CSC should be fine. May need to change it, and remember when you do, it WILL WIPE YOUR DATA!
THIS IS THE TGY CSC FILE FROM LA2 ROM.
I just realize that we may not need to worry about the CSC not showing under *#1234# as apparently it is still there...
Have a look at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124900
There is a short code *#272*IMEI# to check your sales code, in our case TGY for Hong Kong.
Also when rooted you can navigate to /efs/imei/ then look for the file "mps_code.dat" and open as text with a text editor. this is where you would change the CSC code if you wish to change to other region.
That also shows the Note still has it's original CSC code.
Anyway, saves me the hassle of wiping the whole phone and restoring all apps and content all over again.
I understand that if you want to keep root in future FW updates it's better to flash them with Odin Mobile Pro rather than Kies / Odin / OTA which will remove root.
Just my 2 cents

This server is slow as hell, it takes >5 hours to download this (my internet connection speed is 100Mbit/s). I also do not understand, why the size of the firmware is 2,1 GByte, so I'm not gonna download this, maybe someone else has more patience.
yeah which country is it and is this 4.4? Can someone let us know if they have tried it.
Thanks for sharing OP. I read about on Google+ that its been released. Build date 031114, lets hope for improvments and for a P605 release also...
Mh, Samsung is working on updates for 4.3?! Then it seems that a 4.4 will be not for next month...
Yeah, I just tried it but it's a version for South Korea so I could only load the kernel (have a US one).
The multitouch is definitely fixed! Couldn't really test anymore as my wifi isn't working (only loaded the kernel).
Hopefully one of the devs will integrate this firmware into their custom roms!
Just loaded DutchDanny's kernel again and the multitouch is back to being wonky. Guess it really was a kernel fix after all then and not a driver update.
awesome !

Flashing this Kernel
Ok guys, so I managed to figure out how to flash this kernel and get the WiFi to work again on at least US editions, I'm sure it'll work for the others too. You should only try this if you're rooted as it involves flashing TWRP.
First things first, do this is at your own risk, I am not liable etc, etc.
1. Download the firmware.
2. Download Odin.
3. Boot your Note 10.1 into Download mode.
4. Flash the firmware using Odin (select the P600KXUANC2_P600KOOANC2_HOME.tar.md5 file as PDA).
5. The flash will fail when it attempts to write system.img. DO NOT PANIC.
6. Reboot the tablet, it will say something about reconnecting to Kies as something is corrupted.
7. At this point, plug it into Odin and flash TWRP (use the instructions from that thread in case you do not know how).
8. Once TWRP is flashed, reboot your tablet. You do not even need to enter TWRP, your tablet should boot up normally. Hurrah!
9. You'll notice your WiFi isn't working. Using any root explorer of your choice, edit your build.prop and change 'ro.securestorage.support=true' to 'ro.securestorage.support=false' (no quotation marks). Reboot your tablet.
10. WiFi should work again and now you have the newest Samsung kernel with the touchscreen bug fixed! Your kernel version should have Tue Mar 11 as it's build date!
11. Pop a beer!
P.S. I've noticed that the touchscreen bug still does exist to some extent although it's greatly been reduced. Planting your palm can still upset it sometimes, however icons aren't hovering all over the place when you're adding them to the desktop anymore.
Yeah that build prop edit worked for the s4 as well when 4.3 came out.

Hey can the Kernel be extracted by any means from the firmware , We really have much slower internet here in India and downloading a 2 + GB file can be deadly ! I am really dying to test this out
Also the thread creator needs to change the title of this topic so that people can identify why this thread was actually made .. ( Multitouch fix firmware something .. ) :good:
i download this firmware and extract it, and convert boot.img and recovery img to tar files and flash to my tablet p-601
kernel change to tue 11 and multitouch issue fixe but wifi gone ((it can be back by the solution of my friend starsky23 and phone gone too icant recover phone and enable it again
at now i downgrade to p-601 tablet
thank You !
Thank you so much guys alpha_330, especially starsky23 .. The problem is fixed , i downloaded the file and converted the boot.img and recovery img to tar from the downloaded firmware then flashed via Odin
All Good !!!
