Hi. The X1 come with the QUALCOMM 7200 A CPU normally @528 Mhz. But i read somewhere that the X1 is underclocked @400 mhz for power save. Its ok if it return @528 mhz when we watch movie or listen music... But can we know if he really do that?
Tks.

overclockin this processor is the the PRIMARY thing i wanna do to this phone....ANY way of doin that i'll try...
he is speaking about Underclocking not overclocking ... and why you wanna Overclock ... 528 is enough...!!!
No , i want to verify if the CPU is at 528 mhz or not.
I've see on another thread (the X1 performance thread) that the CPU is auto underclocked for save power...

well in that case.....i wouldnt mind havin it runnin at full
i heared about it somewere, i don't know if it's true or not, but even though, the device is generating much heat already when using wifi/gps while charging, maybe this will make it worse
my cpu monitor plugin on my today screen has never budged from 400mhz.
The plugin also has a temp reading and my xperia runs around 108F with the wifi running were it idles around 84F, 91F watching a properly converted movie (500kbps and 30fps for me) or music, and 95F when watching a movie that makes the Xperia work.

That sounds like a very handy plugin. Could you provide a link or attach it please?
I find that the back plate gets quite warm when it's on charge in the car holder and running TomTom. If I could measure how warm it's getting then I might feel okay about it.
sounds interesting aswell, the plugin.

oO that's crap. Its a 528 mhz cpu and we can't have a real 528 mhz? 400 is less than the iphone...
Same here. My today plug-in says 400mhz and usually the temp is between 30 and 39 degrees (celsius).
The name of the app is "wk task". It's extremely handy with tons of options. It has system tray launching options. Shows cp speed and temp, ram etc.
P.S. Did i mention you can launch programs from the system tray??? Hehe
we have a "hot" phone lol
hot in price design and temp!
Yep. But why the X1 don't run at the normal 528 mhz frequency?
It run @400 . I think we can boost him @528mhz. @400 it's slower than the iphone . In idle use ok , for save the battery , but when we watch a movie , or surf with opera 528 mhz is better...
then go this web page, www.xda-hackers.com lol
I tried using Teksoft Speedbooster to make certain apps "high priority". First one was morphgear, thinking it might bring up the fps. I cant notice any diff :-/
So I would also like to overclock the cpu (if its possible)...itje's touch-it v4 beta 6 uses even less ram than before...fantastic rom...but yet morphgear is still not running perfectly.
I will try with core player and maybe opera
Try this
Please try to connect your X1 to power supply and check CPU speed. For my previous device connected power supply caused CPU works at maximum speed.

We don't need to overclock the CPU . It will be good if the CPU run at his normal speed also @528mhz and not 400 (under the frequency of the iphone)!!!.
Also , a overclock on this type of CPU may cause overheating issues. Only 528 mhz will be a great advance on performance.
I think that the X1's CPU is underclocked @400mhz... It's bad
Yeah, thats what I meant foxvengeor, but didnt make it very clear
I would also like to bring my x1 to the proper cpu speed, rather than what it is currently. Like somebody else said, I would take a hit on the battery standby time over performance (unless it ruins either my battery of my phone).
Wow seriously? I had never heard it was underclocked.. It is advertised as 528mhz isnt it?! I mean the battery life is great as is, but I would like to see how it does at 528.. The device info control panel does say 528 though.

I dunno if I'm a bit slow or something but I just installed wk task and after aunching the taskbar from it, and looking through the settings for about half an hour, I couldn't for the life of my find anyhting to do with temperatures and/or ram/cpu or anything related.
It seems to do nothing more than work as a task manager/task bar/launcher.
You might have already figured out that HD2 can be overclocked as high as 1.5 GHz on its powerful Qualcomm SnapDragon Processor. Many people run their devices on default clock speed, but there are few of us who overclock their devices to get max out of it. So i have started this thread to know what your max clock speed is and what governer are you using. Post replies below. Also, don't forget to mention your Phone's Temperature if available.
Mine: 1.2 GHz On SmartAss Governer , Temperature Usually Around 95F

1305MHz using interactive, temp alway @ 28°C even when phone get hot?? tho alway careful to let it cool down when it feels too hot.
I have underclocked ... to 720Mhz (interactive)
Performance is okay and saves battery live
Temperature is about 28 celcius.
1267, 768 when battery less than 30%, 422 when screen is off
On-demand w/screen on, conservative when <30% and screen off
Not great on battery, but good performance an no wake lag
CPU Load jump or whatever it is, set to 30%
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Sticks with no overclock
using a rom which is fast enough and saves battery life, Dont see a point that needed to overclock CPU
Undervolted to 576mhz, for better battery life.
Runs smooth enough for all apps, including navigation and games
No overclock for me, don't need it, phone is fast enough as it is.
Clock speed: 998mhz (default), governor: ondemand, temp: n/a
Good enough for me sweet onough on may battery.
P.s. there seems to be no difference(performance wise) between rafpigna kernel oc'd @1.5ghz and tytung kernel oc'd @1.2ghz, when testing on linpack and/or other smarbench tools
So we've all known that this overheating is caused by CPU. I tried this overclocking widget, setup maximum cpu frequency as 800MHZ and minimum 500MHZ and tried playing games again. battleheart 30 mins and didn't get heat up any more. besides the power draining problem seemed to be less noticeable.
I read the CPU is an overclocked 1ghz which would explain the high heat when playing games. I personally have mine clocked at 800mhz using SetCPU at all times and it no longer gets very hot.
will give this a go...fed up of burnt fingers lol
come back to report. just now played around 1 hour game, battleheart, with max cpu set 800MHZ, power went down from 65% to 41%, not too bad. guess I can play games at least 4 hours. most important thing is never feel the heat again.
I am getting bothered by the heat of my nexus 4 especially at the camera side..., when I play psx emulator it really gets hot and it gets hotter when it is charging... even if i am only watching or streaming the internet it gets noticeably hot, so i would like to know if this is ok or not.
what are apps that could monitor the temperature?
what is the normal temperature when gaming and idle?
I would like to know about this things so that if my unit is a lemon, i could return it to lg for the warranty.
thanks in advance.

you have a quad core device, its normal. when you stress the cpu, gaming, streaming, itll heat up. when you charge, your battery will heat up. the back o the phone is glass, so itll feel like it gets hot fast. when the device hits a certain cpu temperature, heat throttling kicks in. this will lower your cpu speed and cool down your device. when it goes over the cpu safety temperature(100C i believe), the cpu will shut down and the phone will power off. there are several apps that show the cpu and battery temperature. remember, battery temperature and cpu temperature are two completely different temperature readings.
System tuner gives you cpu temp. But you should get an app that tells you battery temp as well...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
ok thanks..., I'll monitor my device and post the temperature later.
Idle
batt: 35c
cpu: 39c
Watching a video
batt:42.8c
cpu:54c
I'm still downloading a heavy intensive game to test

simms22 is right you can under clock it safely kernel tuner is free on play
Intel CPUs (i5, i7, etc.) can survive going over 100 degree Celsius, but the commonly quoted safe temperature limit for long term operation is 70 degree Celsius. I would assume that the same holds true for other silicon chips, and find it difficult to believe that the shut off temperature for the Nexus 4 is 100 degree Celsius - you will be getting serious burns on your fingers by then.
Wait..., I recently played a 3d game and my temperature is reaching
CPU: 67c
Battery: 50c
Is my phone a lemon or its a normal case scenario?
Hi all,
For "hardcore user" there is a thread with a solution to limit the heating :

Wait..., I recently played a 3d game and my temperature is reaching

Is this temperature normal??
That is a little worrying. Are you using a case? Also what is the room temperature where you were using the phone?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
sorry for the late reply I thought no ones going to reply with my post, the room temperature is 31c. and I dont use a case
I have recently bought this phone.
I had tested this device with the heavy loads usage.
Like by doing multitaskings, antutobenchmark testing, and playing HD games like modern combat 5.
I have noticed that my device max. CPU Temp reaches upto 75° C
And it's max. Battery temp. Reaches upto 45°C
So plzzzzz tell me . Have I got a defective piece or its normal with this device??
Is it a defective piece or a normal piece??
