Just a quick question from new member.
Having owned the HD2 for about a month, I have been able to succesfully run (not difficult) most of the major Android Builds.
However, some when setting up through the set up process in Android, detect my sim as O2 and set the APN to WAP.O2, where as others set it as Mobile.02, even though I complete the same process each time. (Does it actually make any difference)
Apologies in advance if this is a simple question, I have searched but have been unable to find the answer.

Hi,
I'm relatively new to the whole customising the HTC/Dopod phones for starters.
Now my problem started with my old OS (WM6.1 Pro) which was installed on the phone when I purchased it started locking up.
I then went to refresh the ROM and flashed it with the OEM ROM from HTC, only to find it back dated it to WM6 (how disappointed I was).
After much searching on this site I finally came across one ROM that appealed to me with the features it contained and the way it was presented (WM 6.1.0.4.7.5 Digital.rar http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494727).
After sucessfully flashing the ROM I had to get hold of my network provider (Optus Australia) to get the service settings for using internet/mms services.
They tried to send me them through their automatic way (assuming sms based), however failed relentlessly. Eventually I got sent a PDF to explain how to do this.
Now here it comes. I followed the instructions, however now my phone will only connect to GPRS and never 3G or HSDPA.
Could someone please help me out and let me know if it could be the ROM I'm using (if so, could someone link me to a ROM for 6.1 Pro with similar features that will rectify the issue), I need an extra CAB to install (if so, where do I get it?) or if the settings they gave me are just GPRS settings (if so, is anyone able to provide the correct setting?).
I realise this is one rather lengthy post, and I do apologise, though much appreciation to anyone who can assist and Ihave done my best to give the information required.
Here is the link for the PDF that I was sent containing the instructions.
(Apologies for it being a megaupload.com link, the file was 5kb too big to attach)
Regards, Bryan
Don't worry, all fixed.
I found the issue lay within the Network Settings. Somehow the "Network Selection" had been set to "GSM" and not "Auto".
With this now set to "Auto" and the setting given by the provider (in the link provided above), I was able to rectify the issue.
Any Optus customers (Pre-Paid or Post Paid) feel free to download the manual I uploaded for future reference of Gateways and IP adresses for GPRS/WAP/HTTP/MMS settings and usage.
Hi there, im having one problem and cant figure it out... i tried searching but i found just few threads asking same question but nobody answered...
so question is how to save list of preferred network list... by default i have first t-mobile even tho my card is o2 and i cant use data connection with tmobile cause it goes in roaming but if i pick manually o2 everything works fine... i can edit preferred network list but after every soft reset it returns to default settings... so im back to tmobile and i have to go to settings and manually switch it... is it somewhere saved in file/registry so i can hard code it the way i want?
Hi there. I have set up a new access point (in an attempt to get some Facebook connection) and although it allows me to create a new profile, it doesn't then give me the option to select it - there is no tick box or button push even though the new profile is now in the list. I have just upgraded my ROM from the HTC site and am unbranded although using Voda in the UK.
Many thanks for your help, in advance.
I found the same as you, it does seem different to the old ROM. I changed the active Vodafone settings to the wap APN, logged off and on and this worked for me.
B
I feel its not selectable anymore as its automatic.
I may be wrong though.
Type "default" in the "APN type" field.
I wrote to HTC help and this is what their reponse. I am using the Hero on TMo US.
"I would first recommend that you perform a simple soft reset, which can be done by removing the battery and replacing it to restart your phone. Once that has been done see if you are able to switch APN setting, if you are not then I would recommend that you attempt to re-flash the operating system to your phone. Once the operating system or ROM has been re-flashed to your phone then I would recommend that you attempt to re-setup and connect to the T-Mobile US APN, if it doesn’t work, please attempt to use another SIM card. If all of this does not work can you please contact us back and inform us of this so we can look into further troubleshooting."
i just changed the telkila settings since it was set as the default apn.
yeah, all you should need is 'default' set as the APN type, and then if you have more than one of those, the selection thing usually appears.
any you have set as 'mms' will not be selectable.
Hi all, first of all i'd like to say you're all doing an amazing job!
Basically I have a HTC HD2 ROM with the T-Mobile UK stock ROM.
This ROM has been tweaked (made worse) by T-Mobile, for example removing YouTube and turning Opera into Web'n'Walk.
The issue is that T-Mobile disallows us to download the ROM's from the official HTC website because T-Mobile need to re-release this ROM with its restrictions. The problem is that 4 months after the first ROM release, and newer versions constantly appearing, T-Mobile has not even released one newer ROM version for us to download. I was wondering how/if I could download a ROM from here and if this would make the phone stop working? I am aware this will void my warranty but this isn't of a great concern to me.
I am mostly concerned that I will no longer be able to send messages and make phone calls with T-Mobile if I download a cooked ROM.
My ROM is version 1.43.110.2 (70315) WWE
Thanks, Cristian
hey...
I had the same rom as you (tmobile uk upgrade)
I have flashed about 8 roms so far so no worries there
HSPL
Hi mate I bought mu HD 2 from my friend T-MOBILE ugrade 350 £ btw and a just use HSPL after install official rom 1.66 radio too and now just testing cooked ROM and got no problemas at all ! And I am oringe customer fast internet perfect signal almost everywhere ...
Goodluck
Hi thanks for your responses that was really fast
I've seen that I can download HSPL from XDA so there's no problem there i'll follow the instructions posted.
So once I install the HSPL I can simply download the ROM from the HTC Website?
I was just worried that installing a new ROM would clear the settings set by T-Mobile such as text messaging and making calls? If this is the case then is there any way to restore them?
Thanks again
Your sim card contains all the data needed for the phone to set up data and sms and the like.
If it doesnt, there are hundreds of threads on how to manually enter data connections.(2 minute job)
Thanks for your reply, I have just installed the HSPL.
When I enter my serial number into the HTC website it says it is invalid (this is because of T-Mobile) Do you know how can I work around this?
I'm really sorry for all the questions I'm new at this
bump bump bump
Thats because your serial is still invalid, even though you installed HSPL.It always will be.
Go to the official roms thread in the rom development section,
first post, first link. Look through the folders for the rom you want. (I suspect you want the 1.66 folder, look for the wwe rom.)
I have just updated to official ROM 1.66 from this website
I am able to make and send both calls and texts but the Internet connection is no longer working. How do I attain these settings?
T-Mobile UK
Please help
Many thanks
fisrt - go to settings tab - menu - all settings - connections - connection setup.
Run that.
If that doesnt do it,
settings tab - menu - all settings - connections - connections - and in the mobile web settings set up a new data connection, using the data you find HERE
Also worth looking in start menu, scroll to end, have a look for a branded 'sim card' style icon, probably called just 'T Mobile' that is put there by your sim card. Give that a try.
There is no sim card style icon or any t-mobile related in the start menu
I have typed those settings, twice, the phone connects successfully to the network, but only for a minute before disconnecting. It simply keeps disconnecting after a minute or so
t mo put a proxy in with their settings
settings tab - menu - all settings - connections - connections - tap manage existing connection - jump to the proxy tab and untick 'this connection proxy blablah'
Give that a try.
that doesnt work either, any ideas?
Very odd that it should connet and then disconnect a minute or so later. It isn;t just closing because it's idle, is it? Can you surf while its active?
thanks for all your help by the way
i dont think so because its not idle, it stops midway while being used.
i had to recover my phone using microsoft my phone in chunks..
yeah i can surf but only for a little bit
very odd. Just so you can double check, here is the info as i would put it in. (Im sure you got it right, just being thorough)
settings - menu - all settings - connections - connections - add a new modem connection (in the mobile web section)
(If you want to delete your other one, choose manage existing and switch to the general tab and choose delete settings.)
enter any name you want.
line type - celular line (GPRS)
next
access point name is - general.t-mobile.uk
next
user name - user
password - wap
*** ive just read in another thread that the password is pass for contract so try that ***
domain - leave blank
lol, also just came across this
GPRS Internet service
Access point: general.t-mobile.uk
User name: user
Password: one2one
heh, sadly im not on t mo so i cant test them for you.
if you put general.t-mobile.uk into google, you will find lots of pages of info about setting up data.
im trying it with the password as 'pass'
looks promising, ill post back in a minute =]
you absolute legend it works
it didnt work at first after i changed the password
but i stumbled upon a menu in which 'automatically retrieve internet settings' was checked, so i looked back to where i typed in 'pass' and it looked like ***********.
so i unticked the box and changed the password back to pass, again
it works.
thanks so much
very very very impressed
heh winner, and no worries. On the plus side if you have to do it again it will be easy!
After reading tons upon tons of answers for how to make MMS work after switching carriers (was on Rogers, now on Koodo) I still have yet to figure out how to make my MMS work...
What I've tried:
Soft Reset
Hard Reset
Official Network Profile App
Officially Developer Unlocking Phone
Using "Samsung Tools"
Acessing Root Menu and changing "AutoDataConfig"
My current Diagnosis version is 0628 (just reinstalled earlier - so... most recent?)
And my WinPhone is on Mango 7720
I apologize if perhaps you've answered this a lot, but I honestly have spent the past 5 continuous hours trying to figure this out (plus, many before)
Thanks for any help and suggestions!
Your Diagnosis is most recent (that's release date in MMDD format)
If you have any manual APN added, uninstall Network Profile, delete those and try again.
Thanks for the response!
Deleted Network Profile and all xap programs...
reinstalled Samsung Tools
Restarted...
Still doesn't work :/
Retry installing/using Root Tools...
Restarted...
MMS still won't send or download
Is there someway I can put in the exact information myself? Instead of it trying to automatically sync on startup?
(I'm with Koodo and they give exact settings:
MMSC URL: http ://aliasredirect.n et/proxy/koodo/mmsc
Proxy server: 74.49.0.18
Port: 80
any way to type that in somewhere?)
Try this. Pasting here fore search reference:
By default WP7 device configures data and MMS settings for the SIM card used on the first boot. If you change the SIM card you can manually change the APN for data, but for MMS settings you would need to reset the phone to initiate the automatic configuration. To reset the phone go to the System page under Settings, tap about, and then tap reset your phone.
Important note: Reset erases all user data from the phone. You must synchronize information using the Zune software or manually back up data before performing this step.
If this doesn't work either, try adding your settings in the APN (settings, cellular, add apn)
Yea, that was one of the first things I tried "Hard Reset"
I assume my Koodo SIM card doesn't like automatically syncing?
EDIT: Yep, Just did another hard/full reset (This time through diagnosis app) annd MMS Still won't send or receive...
(and then once again developer unlocked, tried Samsung Tools, tried Root, and then tried the official Network Profile app - nothing.)
Welcome to the club ! I've been trying to get my Focus to work with FIDO for better part of 7 months. Texting and MMS just does not seem to be configurable with the Rogers Samsung Focus. To the point that I'm now selling mine on Kijiji. Any takers for $200 ? I'll deliver anywhere in north Toronto area!
This is the one of the reasons I am not yet ready to jump to WP7. I have AT&T focus and I use StraightTalk pre-paid. I could never use MMS on it. So, went back to my Xperia Arc even though I love WP7.
I tried all methods OP tried already and gave up. I can never get why MS did such a dumb thing of not having a function to manually add settings. This is going to be a pain in countries like India as people switch SIM cards all the time when they cross state borders.
Im having the same issues with TELUS as well... It sometimes actually works but is really unreliable.
