hi all,
i wanted to know what is the difference between wildfire and garmin asus. I mean, is there anything that wildfire is better than it?
my dad just bought one, a really cheap one, running on android platform, the screen resolution is so nice.
And because of the cheap price, i think somehow wildfire should be better right =/.

The Legend beats the Hero in specs but:
-What about battery life? reviews of the Legend are saying 9h with hi usage, I wonder if the Hero could do better?
-Is the 16M amoled screen way better than the Hero's screen in reality?
-Reviews say the Legend has a strong loudspeaker for ringtones, how's the Hero one?
I don't know if I take a Hero now and buy a 8mp Android later because they will be expensive(X10...) or take a Legend now

If you buy a used Hero (probably best option) make sure it's in great condition so that you get a good price when you sell it again.
X10 will be obscenely expensive and I'd wait for some reviews of the final product (few people think highly of SE any more). The Legend has had very positive reviews so far.
The HTC Desire is also released soon.
The CNET review of the HTC Legend compares it to the Hero extensively.
Expansys UAE which is a preview of prices here in Lebanon is listing the Desire for 570$, if it comes at this price I will certainly buy it, the Legend is very sexy but I am afraid I will get bored by the ''small'' screen
Vegetaleb, good to see you here,... Big up Dailymobile!!! Woop Woop!!!...
Your as anal about researching Android as I was! So you still haven't decided yet?
In my opinion the Legend is definately just a slightly upgraded Hero. So i have to agree with aameerp, I have just bought a used Hero, i plan to keep it for aprox 6 months, then sell it to get a top end phone like the Desire, or whatever new may be on the market. But if i had the money for a Desire when it is released I would have waited,... But for now, that kind of price is too high for me.
If you can afford the Desire, get that. If you want something else you can always sell it on again, it will hold alot of its value for a good 12 months.
Hello guys,
There might be many other threads with the same topic, anyway In my area Legends go for the same price as an x10, which is 350 Canadian. so, I'm trying to make my mind which to get. I know legend is Htc and has multi touch, and x10 has an 4 display with better display.
so, I wanted to know your opinion on which is great for the buck?
Go for the Legend. Software can look outdated in a few years but with a phone design like that it will still look good and you will still be able to take it out in public.
If you don't play too much games go for the legend. It sure is thing of beauty. But performancewise, it would be hard to beat x10 after they get updated to 2.1 or 2.2 its just that no one knows when that will happen =P
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
As for me the x10 look much sexy to me, and its better on performance.
One drawback is the updates which is so late to this point.
But in terms of hardware the x10 rulez.
sent from my x10i that is banging for a 2.1 upgrade. ...
I had x10i before HTC Legend.... X10 is a very interesting device, what's better in x10 is a larger display.... I don't play games so X10's cpu doesn't matter for me. Display in legend is much more better, finnally it's amoled. Legend's camera in spite of lower resolution takes better photos for me. in X10 I had problems with auto focus, photos haven't good contrast. I also didn't like x10's speaker. the music was very poor both in speaker and headphones.... What's much better in the legend is the cover, it looks very solid in difference to X10... After a month of using X10 in the leather case I ve noticed that there swabs on the back of phone because of taking out of the case..... I also hate X10 's call speaker... I simply couldn't hear my calls, for example during driving a car.. The voice was extremally quiet. Finally, the Legend is handier than X10, now I can write messages using one hand I don't say that x10 is a bad phone because I was excited by it but I prefer Legend
Between Legend and X10, I would definitely pick X10. It just needs an OS update. In my place, X10 costs 5k rupees more than Legend and for X10 price, one can get Samsung Galaxy S or Milestone.
Also, look for phones like Galaxy S, Desire. These are better than Legend and X10.
from my pov x10 just have better camera with bigger screen , but everything elese is better on the legend the quality of the amoled screen , faster , newer software , the htc sense is really cool , the buildquality and the price the cpu is better on the x10 but i tried it and i really don't know how it;s better in this sluggish phone ( compared to the legend ) and finally rumors says that legend will get the 2.2 which will make it superfast .. and the x10 just will get the 2.1 maybe in the next year
I tried the x10 out, and it's too plasticly also the No search button, also 1.6 is not awesome at all. I guess I'm just going pay 400 bucks and buy it brand new from Virgin mobile. Do there sell the phone without contact? Because Bell is selling it for like 450.. and virgin has it for 350( sweet deal lol)

i work for virgin mobile in canada, and have the legend. i say wait a bit longer as i just found out today that we will be releasing the galaxy S "vibrant" within a week or 2 and i would strongly recommend getting that instead. it will beat out both the legend and x10 with a better screen and processor.
like i said, i have to legend right now and love it, i played with the x10 a few times but once you have multitouch its tough to live without, even knowing your device doesn't support it sucks. sadly the x10 will never support true multitouch as the screen doesn't allow it. 2.2 or not.
i will be swapping my legend in for the galaxy s when we get it in. so i'll be able to let you know which one i like more, spec and performance wise if your willing to wait.
--edit-
and yes we sell phones without a contract. you have to go on whats called a 30 day plan just to get it started, but you can cancel out of it after the month
Hey everyone,
I am seriously thinking about getting a Legend but it'd be nice to get some outside input. I was originally thinking about getting a Wildfire, but the low resolution and slightly slower speed made me iffy. Will the higher resolution on the Legend make a big difference for apps? Although I used to have a Diamond (1) and it seemed like the speed wasn't that bad, it just needed more RAM. However, I already have a Zune HD which means I don't need any music/video capabilities from my phone (or the amoled screen). I've also read about wifi connection problems, has it been fixed? I will only be using wifi at home/at university, no 3G.
(If you don't want to read all that: Legend's Higher rez, faster speed, amoled, possible wifi problems? (I won't use 3G) or Zune HD + Wildfire is enough?)
I'd say go for the Legend! It's a great device! And there isn't a very big price diffrence from the Wildfire to the Legend, and the Legend is a much better phone! You will not regret it!
And for the WiFi problems I haven't heard anything about them lately so they should be fixed!
Conclusion. Go for the Legend!
Legend wins
afaik the lower resolution on the wildfire would make it slightly harder to get apps from the marketplace :O.
But honestly hands down LEGEND, I got mine a few weeks ago, absolutely loving it .
Not worth
Imo Legend is not worth almost 400 euro. It looks awesome but the hardware is mid range. If you wait 1-2months you will get better phone for the same price.

Yea but you can't put a price on beauty.
If you want a decent phone, go for the Legend. We're here may be bias on our suggestion because most of us own one. But from experience its an awesome device. There is no wifi or any problem whatsoever. There may be if you flash a custom rom on it.
just got the missus a wildfire, and to be frank the screen is a joke, now i might send it back to 3 and get a hero, but does the bluetooth (phone to phone file sending) work on 2.1? as it didnt on 1.5
and what do people think that have used/owned both, is the hero a better phone
thanks
Hi there!
I haven't used the wildfire, so I can't compare these two.
But I can assure You, that hero with 2.1 can use bluetooth without ny problems or difficulties.
With regards
brat.haneq
Hero is older than wildfire, but has larger screen etc.
I think wildfire and hero are similar specs, but Iirc wildfire has accelerated 3D, which hero lacks.
I like my hero, but I wouldn't buy another one today, as it's about a year old.
I don't use bluetooth though, so can't comment on it.
i thought the wildfire screen was capacitive? what specifically is wrong with the screen? it could be a hardware issue as the Hero did have problems with the bottom of the screen not responding.
Not had my hands on the wildfire but if you were to sell it how much would you get for it as it should be enough to cover hero fees.
Alough the HTC Hero is an older model so I should think the wildfire will be better. It's just a smaller desire.
BT does work on the 2.1 heros, just tested between mine and a winmo phone.
Wildfire has smaller resolution (meaning less apps natively avaliable, without using a hacked market). But also has more Ram. Also has camera flash and smile detection.
They have the same processor speed as stock, although the wildfire is a slightly newer revision. The screens are both 3.2inch.
I have had a 5 minute play with the Wildfire in a shop - and to be honest, the resolution urked me too, and despite all of the quirks I would still take a Hero over the wildfire.
but thats just my opinion.
seeing as the hero and the wildfire are similarly priced on a 3 contract, id go with the hero.
the difference between the two is the ram and resolution, wildfire having the better ram.
id rather have better res than more ram, so id go with the hero.
3 currently have the white hero on payg for £160 refurbed. i bought one and it looks like new.
Same here... In my opinion if I have to choose between the wildfire with 512mb of ram and a lower resolution screen and the Hero, I would definitely choose the hero.. it lacks of Flash for camera as well, but at the end of the day when it's rooted it rocks!!
Hey There,
a friend of mine is looking to get his first android phone.
but he wants to have a budget phone.
I was looking at the Wildfire because this is considered a budget phone.
But i also noticed that the HTC Hero has dropped to a similar price.
I looked at the specs but it almost looks like the hero still has better specs then the wildfire does.
Is there anyone who has tried both?
and could tell me the differences?
much appreciated.
In my opinion the HTC hero did seem a bit laggy but maybe that's changed, also the resolution is slightly better on the hero but not really noticeable. The HTC Wildfire is going to get Android 2.2 and with a bigger RAM it will run smoother than the HTC Hero. Also the Hero does not have a Flash for the camera :O. its up to you but i would say the wildfire is better.
So newer is better..
Thanks for your opinion
