Wifi not working - Wildfire General

Hi,
I've a Wildfire and a Touch2. I want to share Touch2's internet with Wildfire using WiFiInternetSharing application in Touch2. The problem is that wildfire does not detect the wifi network. I've tested the Touch2 with Iphone as well as my laptop. Both detects Touch2 as wifi router and works successfully but wildfire doesn't even detect it. I've tested wildfire with my office wifi router and it works fine but not with my touch2. Any suggestions please.

Is it due to the touch 2 creating an adhoc network and the wildfire not supporting ad hoc networks. If so you will need a custom rom

[SOLVED] HD2 not detected as WiFi router

Hi,
I have encountered a problem. My phone when in router mode is not detected by other devices (tried two laptops and another phone with WiFi). I can use my HD2 to connect to wireless networks, but not to share mobile data via WiFi.
Any suggestions on how to solve the problem?
Thanks
(ROM 1.48 as there is no official update for my region)
This may not help, but I had a similar issue of devices not seeing my wifi router as the network name I chose had a space in it, removing the space by adding an underscore instead allowed devices to then see the network.

The HD2 only uses ADHOC connection when being used ad a WiFi router and if your Desire HD does not except ADHOC connections then you will not be abale to use the WiFi from your HD2. I do not know if the Desire HD will except a ADHOC connection or not, I will let you do the research on that. But I doubt that it does as ADHOC connections are primarily a computer to computer type connection.

hi
try getting the wifibuddy from the Market and use it on ur phone
it works for me
Hello,
my Tattoo also connects to every wifi point except the one at home, with which I have no problems at all using my 2 laptops and a PS3! To be precise, it gets connected but there is no data transfer at all. I've tried various roms and 3rd party software including wifibuddy that haree suggested, but still no luck.
So what else is there to try?
Thanks in advance!

i want to do this..please help me...

I dont know what happen but when ppp went live usb tethering stopped working. Everyone uses wifi tether now.
Your laptop doesnt have wifi?
I asked a similar question sometime ago, please check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772244
The conclusion was: if you want to use your laptop's internet on the HD2 (in some kind of reverse tethering), the best is to use a software like VirtualRouter or Connectify to make an Acess Point from your wifi card that your HD2 can easily connect to. I am sorry, but there's not an easy USB solution like you have for Windows Mobile. I hope one day they to it, though.
You shouldnt need any special extra software. It just might be something that doesnt work in the kernal at the moment.
Native android devices can do it aslong as they are rooted.
Lets not say it isnt possible as that makes android sound gimp
My problem is: in my room..wifi is only enough for my lap ( HD2 can connect the wifi but because the wifi signal too weak...) and i'm using internet in my lap by wifi...so i cant using wifi tethering...hic....any solution??
Try WiFi internet sharing in Windows from your laptop.

Thanks, Hm... Tried the aNetShare which provide a tethering services only allow wireless access to computers such as PC, Mac, Ubuntu.
But other kinds of mobile devices such as Hero can't find due to it's not a WiFi hotspot
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ that should do it but be careful the battery !It drains out real quick. My GF's Mac book had successfully connected to it.
P.S. You might have an issue with the resolution.
Barnacle is good as well for WiFi tethering.
But tethering only allowed PC, Mac to connect with but it's not for other kinds of mobile devices such as my Hero

[Q] Internet Passthrough for Gingerbread?

I love using Internet Passthrough because its help a lot in areas where there is no 3G signal but a wired connection, i often use my laptop with wired internet connection thats why i love the Android Desire HD build for having Internet Passthrough via usb cable. Is it possible for a gingerbread build or Cyanogenmod build android OS?

I also am interested to know
I know it's not what you're looking for, but you could try broadcasting an access point from your laptop while you're waiting using Connectify.

great but....
GingerBread is great ROM but it lacks the following major points:
- Internet pass-through
- sync with out look using apps like HTC Sync.
Any updates ?
AFAIK, Internet pass-thru is only available on Desire Z and Desire HD ROMs.
It relies on HTC Drivers on the computer's side (provided by Google or HTC Sync) and on HTC Sense on the phone's side.
So, to have this feature on gingerbread roms, you will have to wait for Gingerbread-Sense ROMs
