Hello!
I am using Touch dual with 20 keys keyboard, chinese version.
I have got a little problem in my H/W keyboard with Opera Mobile. Cannot input characters in address bar... only the numbers can be show.
Any idea??? Thanks!
I have an HTC Branded Touch Dual 20 Key English Version (Dont know if its WWE)
I dont have any problems typing with the keypad in abc, or XT9 in Opera mini 4 at all; I dont know how different this is from Opera Mobile. Opera Mini is a java/midlet app and I think Opera Mobile is a full blown application. Hope this helps in your research.
If you need additional information, let me know what you are looking for, like version or rom info.
Thanks

I think this is a bug in the keypad because the same thing happened to me when I was writing an SMS the other day! I closed the SMS and terminated the messaging app and then reopened and it was fine. No idea what caused it...
Nope, and it's not the first Phone where the hardware keyboard only type numbers in opera mobile.
Asus Phones with T9 Keyboards have the same problem.
So seems to be really a opera problem.
Opera mini works because keyboard is handlet by the midlet manager (jbed on the star) and not by opera itself.
Getting the same issues on my 20 Key version also.
My keyboards is using the first character on the button for example in the address bar and I right say i.e. facebook
it will display 4a718oo6
I am getting this same same problem in IE on the device.
Say I want to check my mail at yahoo mail
Username filed keyboard works fine
Password field keyboard will act like it does in the address bar in Opera.
How are you guys entering details in the password filed are you not able to use the slide out keyboard for this?
same issue on my 20 key version. However, the browser DO work with keyboard on the touch screen. In essence, our input method just got narrow down to the ones onscreen. cannot use the slide out keypad.

Another difference is that Opera Mobile ($24 USD) allows you to save image from the browser whereas the mini (FREE) does not.
Same issue here. I have installed "Goodlink" on my DUAL - same Problem. I every good application (mail, calendar, notes etc.) you cannot use the keyboard.
Also Mozilla MINIMO hv the same problem.
When type something only number are displayed.
HI, I have recently bought Touch Dual and experienced the same problem with Goodlink. Could you find a solution? Thanks

Interesting,, I thought it was just me, but my 20 key dual is the same as you describe. So far I've noticed only opera mini 4 is an issue and I've been using the on screen virtual kb for that.
I have same problem on my 16Key T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus. Hardware keyboard types numbers only in Opera Mobile, Composing/replying to email or sms. Very frustrating, have to use touch keyboard all the time.
If anyone has a fix for this, let us know!
try this...a more permanent fix would be great tho...
It happens to me when im texting to, Orange Touch, unlocked to Tmobile. I find the easiest way around it is this:
After selecting reply to a text message and then opening the keyboard to type, close the text you were going to write.
Then find the text and click on reply again.
It should then let you type letters ok. (keep the keypad open)
Bit of a pain so a fix would be great but this is what im doing to work around it at the mo.
Im guessing if you have the keypad open then opening opera would solve it.
Hope this helps.
I am the same problem, 16key, problem is with VITO SMS CHAT. Not only does the 16key not work, but also the touch keypad doesnt work, it doesnt rotate the letters but types all. example: Pressing 5(j-k-L) three times consecutively, type J-K-L, where it suppose to type L only.
I have yet to try this with opera, but haven't installed it yet.
has anyone found a fix yet for the opera problem?
I've noticed that this problem doesn't occur when using the dutch vodafone stock rom...
I can't find the needed files.
Edit: O, it seems that the problem still exist in the addresbar... the problem with entering passwords is gone though....
I had the issue where it would only use the touchpad in the address bar on the native T-Mobile ROM.
I'm now using the Opal keyboard (patched for the Nike) and everything is fine.
Hi which Internet Browser you thing is best for Niki i just use try NetFront™ Browser v3.5

what version of opera?
hi
opera is really the best but could someone tell me how ro get iit correctly working with keyboard on 16_key nike?
I like opera Mini, it works really REALLY well over GPRS. But it does take about a minute to get the first page open, that's a pain. Also teh Cut & Paste Naturally doesn't work! So .... I wish opera mini as a WM app would be made

i can verify that 1126 doesn't allow you to write in the url bar with the keyboard. only extreme right and left letters, and all number keys are still numbers. But while typing with the software keyboard, it only works in qwerty mode, and not the xt9 or abc xt9 formatted mode. Hardware keyboard works only when typing in field, and is incredibly slow.
i Had this issue when I had this issue when I had the diamond keyboard installed removing it rectified those issues, I however just tried in the url and that only shows numbers but as I confirmed im writing this with the keyboard not the on screen board

Why install Opera Mini when you can Get full Opera Mobile 9.5?
http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/
When the coverable is only 2G (GRPS) opera mini becomes the best way. A page with 200 KB reachs the pda with 30-40KB so surfing is possible...
no problems here! installed mini 4.1!
i perfer mini 4.1, it loads pages so fast!

I am running Opera Mini without problems. How have you installed it? I always open www.operamini.com in PIE and install it that way and have never had any problems with installing it
It was configured to use "My Work Network" instead of "My Isp". Now works. Thanks !!
Dani
mini works really well at this resolution, but for gprs webbrowsing (especially forums) netfront on it's simple browsing mode is hard to beat, certainly for speed.
on a java topic, has anyone got java google mail 2 beta to install, I get java lang errors when I try to start it
Downloaded opera mini, but it seems to be a bit dodgy when opening the keyboard to go landscape. Sometimes the thing just goes to a white screen and I have to hit the end button to get back to Windows...
i have downloaded the mini opera from my phone. once i close it.. i can't find is it located at.
can someone help?
are you guys talking about the new opera mini panel? or the regular?
cause if you didnt know, there is a panel available at Sonyericsson.com
cheers
That's not a "Panel" on the SE website but "Software", which is the same thing as people have been talking about.

Try to update to Opera Mini 4.2 and to the version with multiple certificates. It will only ask you once for internet connection and save you the time. It works perfectly in landscape too
On a wifi connection is opera mini better than opera mobile? My opera mobile crashes quite often when i zoom in b4 the page finishes loading

Opera Mini with WiFi is the fastest way to browse the internet The second one is Netfront 3.5 concept version, which is a lot faster than opera mobile and renders AJAX pages very nicely (not in design but for fast use).
where is it located after installed to the phone? I can't find it.
thank you.

It is in Programs / Java / Applications or direct in Programs / Opera Mini with an "e" icon.
i know this is kind of off topic. does anyone know how to get rid of the "SMS/MMS message send" notification? it pop up everytime when the sms sent out and the pop up is unable to dismiss manually.. i have to wait like 6 sec to be able to type the next sms.
thank you
Which phone model do i put when choosing download? X1 is not on the list

Use Xperia-tweaks 2.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441439
Currently, I'm running Itje's Touch-IT v7 ROM. The built-in Opera doesn't support the HW keyboard, but it does support push internet.
My problem is that it doesn't do what I want it to! Who can help me find an opera that does what I want it to? I'd like to see at least a version number and link when you suggest something.
What I'm looking for:
1) Most important of all: HW Keyboard support.
2) Would love to see the vertical slider on the right side of the screen to control zooming.
3) Support for the TF3D Internet tab bookmarks.
4) The latest version supporting above features (less bugs!).
5) No need for push internet. (what is push internet anyway!?)
Above list is in order of importance. If anyone can point me to one with the first two features, I'd be thrilled already. ^_^
If many people will post links, I'll be making this post a comprehensive list of opera versions and features for the X1.
Opera 16194 - X1 - Link
Speed: Scrolling is very smooth, overall pretty responsive.
Zooming: No on-screen zoom, but volume button zoom works fine.
Input: HW keyboard works fine, as well as SIP.
TF3D Compatibility: Bookmarks will be visible when the opera6.adr file is put in windows\Opera9. You'll have to manually select them as push pages to show up in TF3D.
Thanks in advance!
did u try latest opera for xperia?

Nope, not yet! Thanks for the link, I'll try it out and post the features =]
Alrighty, the newest X1 Opera is pretty good. Does anyone know of one with the on-screen zoom slider? It used to be in Itje's Touch-IT 4.5 rom iirc.
i saw that one in default HTC opera... but hw keyboard wasnt working on those
Maybe you guys can help me out. Im running the default opera browser but recently have been receiving a message "the requested page can not be displayed" Any ideas as to what the problem is. It onlt occurs with some websites and just recently began to cause this problem.

didnt see this version with working hw keyboard for xperia
has there been any update on this ?
is there a current version that supports all of the features metioned on the first page ?
i'm currently using build 2532 and i can't use a few sites and it crashes randomly whereas the version that came with the stock rom was just fine. :-(
I tried to install build 16194 posted in the link, but it failed and said the device was not "authorized". Does anyone know what could be the problem?
maybe u need sdk certs dunno just guess
Thanks. I resolved the problem. Did a hard reset and restored using Sprite backup, then installed Build 16194. Now the hardware keyboard works fine.
The hd2 is a real nice phone but im having this problem. When i try to type a sms it takes me a lot more time then normal. I think this is because of the touchescreen which works capacitive.
But my friend recently bought the htc legend which has the same touch input and i can type very fast and accurate.
Im also having trouble if im surfing the internet and like most forums there are multiple pages on bottom right as 1 2 3 4 5 6 .. but those numbers are so small i cant click the correct one. If i want to go to 2 im either pressing 1 or 3 or4 and maybe if im lucky i get 2.
Is there anything to solve this?
The sms and keyboard issue is a well known problem on the HD2. It simply sucks, especially if you've got many messages on your phone.
Regarding the web browsing, you'll have to use the "pinch-to-zoom" (like on the iPhone) to zoom in even more so that you can hit the buttons. Remember, most webpages aren't made for tiny screens like on the HD2. They're made for like 17" or more.

I lol'd when reading that XD
well, mostly i can type very fast with my hd2. but im not using the standard keyboard, cause that one really just suck, cant write with it.. im using fingerkeyboard 2.1
and yea, i got the same problem in the forums with switching the thread pages.. im using opera mobile 10 + zooomer to pinchzoom and click on the next page, so its no prob for me. if u are still using opera mobile 9.7 u can even use pinch zooming without zooomer
Ah so fingekeyboard good?? I tried swype which works great but doesnt have dutch
I have opera 10 ye and i cant use pinch zoom, or do i need zoomer for this to work?

fingerkeyboard 2.1 is normal typing, not swyping.. i dont like that swyping thingie^.^
yea, if u use opera 10 and want pinchzooming u need Zooomer for that.. search it in the forum, im sure u will find it
just scan the entire device with zooomer and activate multitouch in opera10
I tried fingerkeyboard 2.1 just now and typed a sms without making 1 single typing mistake! I did some mistyping but with the t9 it was corrected perfectyly very happy with it
Im going to try zoomer now haha

i like to hear that in the settings of the keyboard u can even define ur own shortcuts and smilies.. even how long u need to press.. thats the mainpoint why im using it^.^ can write extremely fast with it
