I go the official unlock code and directions from Tmobile, but they assume in the directions that you have a dialer... does that mean I have to hack my Galaxy Tab just to enter in an unlock code...ideas???
Here's the Tmobile USA unlock directions:
"It is very important that the instructions are followed as listed.
If using a T-mobile SIM card:
1. Put in a T-Mobile SIM card.
2. Turn on the handset.
3. Enter: #7465625*638*Unlock Code#
If using a Non T-Mobile SIM card:
1. Put in the Non T-Mobile SIM card.
2. Turn on the handset.
3. Enter the Unlock Code provided by T-Mobile.
Note: DO Not enter #7465625*638*unlock code# with a non T-Mobile SIM card, as this causes the handset to freeze.
If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked."
The easiest thing for you to do, lucky one, is to get a SIM card from another provider and unlock.
How did you get your unlock code so fast? What did you do? What did you say? Please advice. Thank you.

I called Tmobile and told them I was traveling and needed asap... they sent it over via email... I followed your directions and it asked me for the unlock code, I entered it correctly and it didn't work. I got a message saying "unsuccessful". I did this process 3 times and gave up. Any ideas?

It should have worked. Unless they sent you the wrong code.

It's weird that it doesn't work and now they want me to talk to the "unlock department".....everytime I get someone from Tmobile support, they think the Tab has a phone/dialer in it...it's almost getting painful!

I requested a sim unlock code from tmobile, and I received it. I entered it twice with a non-tmobile sim, and both times, the code was rejected by my my Mytouch 4G.
I'm since asked t-mobile to recheck the code (IMEI was correct). They said they would, but that they couldn't guarantee that they could send me an accurate code.
I understand after 3 attempts, it permanently locks. I have one left.
I understand I could use gfree method to sim unlock. It will take some effort to reflash back to older roms, etc.
If I try a 3rd time and cause my phone to lock out further attempts, will the gfree method still allow me to unlock?
I would rather simply deal with codes, but if I risk permanently blocking the ability to unlock my phone, then I'll give go the gfree route instead of trying again.
thanks
Just flash a stock rooted froyo rom, an run gfree, that's not hard to do.
Afaik gfree doesn't count as an attempt. it is different from receiving an unlock code

i can give you a link to buy official unlock code from an eBay seller (which i bought to unlock my MT4G),if i allow to post & if you not use gfree.
ok, figured it out. When the phone was booting up, it was initially asking for my pin on my sim card (i was using a vodafone websessions sim), not the network unlock. Once I entered that correct, I got the network unlock page, and that worked.

I wonder why those sites are even needed? I will be damned if I would pay for something I can do myself!

I stupidly wrote down the wrong sim unlock code given to me by ATT on my phone and I guess I entered the wrong code too many times. I called ATT tech support and they said that my phone is locked permanently ATT now.
Is there a fix around this or am I screwed?
Thx

As far as I know, you are SOL and is locked permanently to ATT, unless theres a way to unlock it via the service menu after a code has been inputted wrong.
Go to Cellunlocker.net and talk to someone in support about getting a code that unlocks your sim-locked status. It's not the code to unlock your phone, it's the code that resets the perma-lock state of the phone.
I guess i am SOL i called cell unlocker and they said they dint have the software to do it
Did you try the method listed for unlocking your phone from the service menus - without an unlock code?
I have not seen it explained, but it appears to me that by disabling the SHA256 network lock, you are basically getting rid of the requirement for the unlock code that is cryptographically dependent on the IMEI.
I did it on my AT&T phone and plopped in a T-mo sim and it worked fine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285431
I am not responsible for anything you may mess up though.

You might have one other option that I know of that might work, might not work, or might make things worse. It is the "Free unlock" menu method in the general section. I am assuming you haven't tried it already. Normally I tell people to stay clear of it because of the slim chance it could screw your phone up, but in your case, I'd say it's already screwed up.
Follow the directions and see if restoring your "Golden backup" (NV restore) resets the cell locks on your phone. You can also try thing like turning SHA256 "On", or "Off" and see if it makes a difference. The reason the free unlock method works for some and not others all depends on what info resides in your phones NV backup. For some, it restores full phone functionality without network locks (sim unlocked), for others, it restores exactly what is already on the phone's NV memory (still network locked), and for others, it restores a backup that screws the phone up. There is a slim possibility that if you restore the NV data via the hidden menu, you might restore your phones original sim locked state and then be able to use the code with SHA256ON or maybe Off.
The risk you take if you try it is completely yours.
It might help, it might not help, or it could make it worse. Good luck.
Would flashing back to stock rom work? I am still fairly new with android devices coming from iphones so i dont want to mess with it if it has absolutely no chance of working. The phone is still working fine just can't unlock it.
Thx for the suggestions tho

Flashing back to stock is not going to cure your problem. You're kind of hosed at this point. Scott's suggestion is probably your best bet, BUT you could end up with no phone working at all. If you can still get phone service I'd leave it as is and give up ever unlocking.

No Problem, Thanks
Good Day,
The instructions below will ONLY work if you have purchased an unlock code from a third party vendor or "IF" you obtained in directly from TracFone (Haven't no success on this). Below I will also include links to websites I have been informed that provide the unlock code. **I have not tested none of those services yet as I already had my unlock code.**
"ROOT IS REQUIRED" - Don't know how? search for geohot's: https://towelroot.com/ towelroot app, install and root. Install SuperSU from market and you are now rooted.
So these are the instructions:
1. Install Phone Info Tools from market
2. Install, open and allow root access
3. Press Menu key and select Secret Codes...
4. Let it populate the list
5. Scroll until you find 7465625*638*(you will see two)
6. First Tap the one that says "Perso<android_perso_lock_code>" followed by Launch 0
7. On the MCC/MNC enter your carriers "NEW SIM" corresponding MCC/MNC code, On Control Key enter code you have. Press "OK"
8. Second Tap the one that says "Perso<android_perso_unlock_code>" followed by Launch 0
9. Enter Code you have and press "OK"
10. Phone should be unlocked now.
11. When reboot or turn on, follow steps 1-10 every time.
12. Thank Me.
Third party unlock services I have received feedback that they do provide an unlock code are:
www.movical.net
**Make sure you select the "Made in China" option to get the right code.
Disclaimer: The above should not brick or damage your phone in no way. If something does happens, however I will not be held responsible. The above WILL VOID your Warranty.
Hi. I have the StraightTalk s975l, and Straight Talk's tech people just told me that this phone cannot be unlocked. I don't believe them. Can you confirm that this method does work on the Straight Talk model S975L, maybe someone who followed the above instructions? If I follow this guide, will I be able to move my phone to AT&T? I'm sure you know what you're doing, and even more sure that I don't, but I just want to be sure before I pay for an unlock code.
It will work, but it's only temporary. You need to retype the unlock code every time you restart the device.

This phone can be unlocked with the a code. 98% of times tracfone's tech support don't know anything and just read what a script says. I have one and been using one for over 5 months. Just that the code needs to be entered every time the phone turns on.

This phone cannot be unlocked, sorry. I finally sold mine.
Can someone please tell me how to unlock the D800 or at least point me to the right thread or direction?
I'm using the LGG2 AT&T version, D800, running CloudyfaG2 3.3 ROM.
I did request for the unlock code and do have it now.
I have the instruction as shown below:
1. Power off the device.
2. Insert non-AT&T SIM card.
3. Power on the device.
4. Enter the unlock code provided.
5. Select Unlock.
6. The device is unlocked.
but I can't get to step 4 where to enter the unlock code. It just boots all the way in and use as normal, just don't have service, that's all.
Note: for step 2, I did buy a T-Mobile SIM just for this unlock process.
Thanks
Really? No help?
Not even a drop in?
Ah, OK, thanks Andrew.
So, there is no way to unlock the phone if using Cloudyfa or any custom ROM?
I'm surprise that none of Cloudyfa ROM runners unlocks their phone.
Alright so I was bored and started poking around trying to find a way to get the MSL. Well after a couple hours of trail and error, I got it! Here's how.
You will need: ADB, ADB Drivers, and a rooted device.
Plug in your phone into your computer.
Run the following (in CMD) :
1: adb shell
2: su
3: am start com.sec.hiddenmenu/.Program_Edit
It should open a menu with your MSL at the bottom. Hope this helped!
I have tested this on Android 5.0.1 and Android 6.0.

Hey @Poebat, how do we do the UUIC unlock under system update? Every time I press it I get the hands free activation window popping up. I bought this SM-G900P used and unlocked from a Canadian retailer to use here in Canada. I worked fine with my Canadian carrier sim card until I did a factory reset and now it's apparently relocked. I called Sprint and they said there is a region lock on the phone (after giving them the IMEI number) and refuse to help or unlock the phone again unless I set up a Sprint account...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would take it to your carrier and ask them to unlock it. After that I would create a TWRP backup just in case.
As for the UUIC lock, you need to have the phone activated on sprint unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick reply @Poebat. If I can't fix the issue by 3PM EST today I will be seeing if my carrier can unlock it LOL.
