Alright so I was bored and started poking around trying to find a way to get the MSL. Well after a couple hours of trail and error, I got it! Here's how.
You will need: ADB, ADB Drivers, and a rooted device.
Plug in your phone into your computer.
Run the following (in CMD) :
1: adb shell
2: su
3: am start com.sec.hiddenmenu/.Program_Edit
It should open a menu with your MSL at the bottom. Hope this helped!
I have tested this on Android 5.0.1 and Android 6.0.

You need the MSL to edit APNs, enable / disable bands of LTE, etc. Not sure if you can SIM unlock on 6.0.1. I have heard that people have had success unlocking their devices with the MSL code on 5.0

Sim unlock? No but look through the forums. Also look on the sprint s6 forums too... If your contract is up just do a UUIC unlock under system update. That should sim unlock your phone.

Hey @Poebat, how do we do the UUIC unlock under system update? Every time I press it I get the hands free activation window popping up. I bought this SM-G900P used and unlocked from a Canadian retailer to use here in Canada. I worked fine with my Canadian carrier sim card until I did a factory reset and now it's apparently relocked. I called Sprint and they said there is a region lock on the phone (after giving them the IMEI number) and refuse to help or unlock the phone again unless I set up a Sprint account...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would take it to your carrier and ask them to unlock it. After that I would create a TWRP backup just in case.
As for the UUIC lock, you need to have the phone activated on sprint unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick reply @Poebat. If I can't fix the issue by 3PM EST today I will be seeing if my carrier can unlock it LOL. I do have a NAND back up from TWRP from when the phone was actually working with my carriers SIM and want to try and flash that back to the phone, but need some help before I try it. Would you be able to possibly look at the thread I posted with what I'm trying to do and see if you might be able to help?
Thanks in advance if you can. The thread is here:

I've tried to make a flashable backup before... I spent awhile trying to get it to work but in the end I failed. So I don't know how to help you there. You mentioned that you got an error when you tried to restore that backup. What was the error?

I was also able to edit my phone number from 000-000-1989 to my correct number as well.... As far as I know, you are SOL and is locked permanently to ATT, unless theres a way to unlock it via the service menu after a code has been inputted wrong.
Go to Cellunlocker.net and talk to someone in support about getting a code that unlocks your sim-locked status. It's not the code to unlock your phone, it's the code that resets the perma-lock state of the phone.
I guess i am SOL i called cell unlocker and they said they dint have the software to do it
Did you try the method listed for unlocking your phone from the service menus - without an unlock code?
I have not seen it explained, but it appears to me that by disabling the SHA256 network lock, you are basically getting rid of the requirement for the unlock code that is cryptographically dependent on the IMEI.
I did it on my AT&T phone and plopped in a T-mo sim and it worked fine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285431
I am not responsible for anything you may mess up though.

You might have one other option that I know of that might work, might not work, or might make things worse. It is the "Free unlock" menu method in the general section. I am assuming you haven't tried it already. Normally I tell people to stay clear of it because of the slim chance it could screw your phone up, but in your case, I'd say it's already screwed up.
Follow the directions and see if restoring your "Golden backup" (NV restore) resets the cell locks on your phone. You can also try thing like turning SHA256 "On", or "Off" and see if it makes a difference. The reason the free unlock method works for some and not others all depends on what info resides in your phones NV backup. For some, it restores full phone functionality without network locks (sim unlocked), for others, it restores exactly what is already on the phone's NV memory (still network locked), and for others, it restores a backup that screws the phone up. There is a slim possibility that if you restore the NV data via the hidden menu, you might restore your phones original sim locked state and then be able to use the code with SHA256ON or maybe Off.
The risk you take if you try it is completely yours.
It might help, it might not help, or it could make it worse. Good luck.
Would flashing back to stock rom work? I am still fairly new with android devices coming from iphones so i dont want to mess with it if it has absolutely no chance of working. The phone is still working fine just can't unlock it.

Flashing back to stock is not going to cure your problem. You're kind of hosed at this point. Scott's suggestion is probably your best bet, BUT you could end up with no phone working at all. If you can still get phone service I'd leave it as is and give up ever unlocking.

No Problem, Thanks
Good Day,
The instructions below will ONLY work if you have purchased an unlock code from a third party vendor or "IF" you obtained in directly from TracFone (Haven't no success on this). Below I will also include links to websites I have been informed that provide the unlock code. **I have not tested none of those services yet as I already had my unlock code.**
"ROOT IS REQUIRED" - Don't know how? search for geohot's: https://towelroot.com/ towelroot app, install and root. Install SuperSU from market and you are now rooted.
So these are the instructions:
1. Install Phone Info Tools from market
2. Install, open and allow root access
3. Press Menu key and select Secret Codes...
4. Let it populate the list
5. Scroll until you find 7465625*638*(you will see two)
6. First Tap the one that says "Perso<android_perso_lock_code>" followed by Launch 0
7. On the MCC/MNC enter your carriers "NEW SIM" corresponding MCC/MNC code, On Control Key enter code you have. Press "OK"
8. Second Tap the one that says "Perso<android_perso_unlock_code>" followed by Launch 0
9. Enter Code you have and press "OK"
10. Phone should be unlocked now.
11. When reboot or turn on, follow steps 1-10 every time.
12. Thank Me.
Third party unlock services I have received feedback that they do provide an unlock code are:
www.movical.net
**Make sure you select the "Made in China" option to get the right code.
Disclaimer: The above should not brick or damage your phone in no way. If something does happens, however I will not be held responsible. The above WILL VOID your Warranty.
Hi. I have the StraightTalk s975l, and Straight Talk's tech people just told me that this phone cannot be unlocked. I don't believe them. Can you confirm that this method does work on the Straight Talk model S975L, maybe someone who followed the above instructions? If I follow this guide, will I be able to move my phone to AT&T? I'm sure you know what you're doing, and even more sure that I don't, but I just want to be sure before I pay for an unlock code.
It will work, but it's only temporary. You need to retype the unlock code every time you restart the device.

We would have to figure out how to back up the original recovery. You could also try the fastboot boot command. That's pretty much a sure way to boot a recovery without messing things up but it has to be in .IMG format to try it.
By any chance has anyone tried the root permission setting found in engineering mode under settings? Dial *#*#2637643#*#* in your dialer to access it

yes i am still looking for a solution, i would appreciate your help
what i did is that i bought a service on eBay, he emailed me an apk called Quick_Fix.apk ( to show the hidden menu ) and these are the instructions
Look for the HiddenMenuCall app on your phone and open it, then scroll and select the following menus & sub menus within:
1-IOT(CDG2).
2-LTE setting
3-Operation Mode.
4-Lab Network (V20 will now restart)
Then Turn Off - Insert SIM card and restart and it will be unlocked
that is all i did, and it was supposed to work but it didn't on mine
I see. So you are trying to pull up a hidden menu on your v20?
What setting are you trying to alter? Wireless tethering? Are you rooted (I am going to take a stab here and say no, you arent)?
Are you trying to carrier unlock your phone? I'm just trying to figure out what you are trying to accomplish?

Caveat: depending on your technical skill abilities, you've a chance of rendering your phone permanently useless. Be forewarned.
So I sold this phone on swappa fully functional and the buyer managed to get some kind of lock code on the device and returned it. Anyway how do I fix this since I can't even get to settings or anything without this code? It's not a FRP, it boots to the lockscreen but when you unlock instead of going home it goes to this screen where it asks for a code. What do I do?
Does it show how many digits it's asking for? Is it sprint variant or open market?

Sprint variant and no it doesn't show the number of digits so I have no idea on that.

Is there a non sprint sim in it? It might be networked locked now via the customer messing around.

I kind of do think it is asking for a netowork unlock code most likely. However, I don't really know how to bypass it because I can't get to the settings to enable USB debugging or anything.
I would suggest trying the Back to Stock zips on it because it wipes everything and see if that works. You can also try and load TWRP and use it to delete the lock screen password files and then flash the boot image so it boots normally and then you should be able to swipe to dismiss the lock screen. Hope this helps you out

I believe in fastboot mode you don't need usb debugging. In fastboot is where the network unlocking happens.
