Bell Mobility - Galaxy Tab NOW AVAILABLE... - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi All,
Not sure if it has been reported yet but I am just on the Bell site and the Galaxy Tab is now available for purchase at "select" Bell stores and the picture shows Bell apps on the home screen.
What does this mean for our SGS Froyo upgrade do you think? People have been posting that Bell needs time to ensure their apps run properly on FROYO which is why the upgrade is taking so long but now it seems that they already have apps running on the Tab which is on FROYO so what gives???
The link to the Bell advertisement for the Tab is...

Take a peek and tell me what you think...

[Q] Any Galaxy Tab without the carrier apps in US?

Just wondering if there will be a version of Galaxy Tab sold directly from Samsung or other vendors without all those restrictions and apps from the carrier. I noticed Negri listed a version with the US 3G spec (with phone function as well), not sure if it is just the ATT version.

I know there will be a wifi-only version from Best Buy soon, but does it come with Android Market access then?

no upgrade for i9000m ? fishy

does anyone think it sounds fishy.. if you check on samsung firmware site every other i9000 has froyo update. including african/arabic.. why no north american? I am begining to wonder if it is they know that the newer froyo hastens the bringing to light the defective memory in our phones, and are witholding it for this reason.
The GT-i9000m is a Bell phone, and the firmware will probably be released once Bell tests it and adds their own branding and software.
Its just like down here in AU. Samsung don't release the firmware. Optus will take the firmware, modify it, test it, send it back to Samsung for distribution.
their are more places that don't have 2.2 then that do... so I don't know why you think its fishy...
Agreed, all firmware releases are by the individual carriers who all have their own quality control standards and network testing to conduct. Froyo seems to be progressively being released from East to West so I would expect North American carriers to be amongst the last to officially release. Another thing of consideration is the fact of their being almost all of the Galaxy S variants being carried on Canadian and US carriers.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Other than the software maybe working better with the m modem there will be nothing new or worth having over some of the current cooked roms. Even then, give it a couple weeks and we will use a cooked rom with that modem and all will be just fantastic. Dont see any reason right now to get worked up over froyo delivery schedules.
Sent from a Bell I9000m running Froyo.
Non for us!!
I live in New Zealand and have a unlocked unbranded i9000 and we have no update. I called samsung and according to the guy they havent worked out how to distribute it/there having trouble rolling it out. Dam it i want it so bad!!!!

OS 2.2 arrives for the Virgin and SaskTel Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant

http://pages.samsung.com/ca/froyo/English/
Interesting. Especially since the how-to images show it as JK3. So have they fixed the SD corruption or not? Guess we'll find out...
I was hoping to come here and see if some brave soul has tried this for sasktel or not. I already had to send mine in a couple of weeks ago and want some feedback before updating my wife's.
Bell here; no update. Says "This device version cannot be upgraded" or something. If Bell doesn't have any update, no way SaskTel does.

[Q] Which US carrier tab to be used in Canada

HI there, first, thanks everyone for sharing such great info about the galaxy tab.
I got some quick questions here, did search before posting but did not find so sorry if it's been asked already.
I'm looking to get a US tab and was wondering which US carrier tab is most suited to be used on Bell's network?
Also, I've seen a lot of tabs with bad ESN going for great price on eBay... if I get one from US and try to use it here in Canada on Bell's network...will they work fine?
Cheers!

ATT is the ONLY US provider compatible with Bell 3G, don't buy a Tab from anyone except ATT, Bell or Rogers. The Bell Tab is 550$ right now off contract, pretty sweet deal.

This man speaks the truth. ATT is the only carrier that's completely compatible with Canadian carriers (with some minor 900/850 MHZ band bickering) Tmobile uses AWS (Of which the Canadian equivalent is Wind Mobile) and Sprint/Verizon are both using the archaic CDMA system.
Oddly enough both Telus & Bell were on CDMA (and *technically* still support it, but that's a serious grey area) up until a year ago. Rogers has been GSM for a good while now.

I would *STRONGLY* suggest you read the readme thread before proceeding to Flash your unit. There's some nasty roms floating around that are locking bootloaders. The one I linked is safe thanks to awesome preparations by Rotohammer and ayman. Do your research before tweaking and have fun.
Thanks to both of you for the replies !!!
Finally got mine from Future Shop @ $549.99...had a $250 gift card so this was a real bargain !!!

AT&T Tab, Bell or Rogers ROM?

I've noticed that second-hand AT&T Galaxy Tabs seem to sell cheaper in the USA than Bell or Rogers Tabs in Canada. I will be in the US on a trip in a few weeks.
Is the AT&T Tab exactly the same hardware, same FFC etc?
And I'm having trouble finding this info - is there a source where I can get a Bell or Rogers (or unbranded?) ROM to flash onto this Tab, so that I am not bound by stupid AT&T restrictions like no non-Market apps? Better if it's a CDN ROM because I might want to use the preloaded apps of CDN providers on a CDN SIM.
I'm not 100% certain but I believe US AT&T = Rogers. I was in Vancouver and my phone switched to Rogers when I landed.
Also, IIRC you could still side load app on stock AT&T tab (using adb for instance). Don't install from the tab as you can't.
