Hi Guys,
I am on the Vibrant running Doc Froyo XXJPO 7.6.2 and I think the email app is killing my battery. I NEED email due to my work being on exchange.
Take a look at the below screenshot and let me know what you think. On the weekend my battery lasts all day but during the week it can't last more than 6-7 hours.
Here is a screen shot:

}
Phone is at 36% and the uptime is 3hr 18min 44second. The phone was charged 100% overnight and is not running any lag fix (with the idea that it might help battery)
Any ideas?
Thanks
How about something wild, like just guess - try other email clients?
And this is in wrong forum.
Search on wakelock + email.
Or set sync to push.

Why is this the wrong forum? It relates to a custom ROM...

Its problem of samsung email in all roms. Best email is stock android email.
If this is related to a custom rom then why open a new topic?

It shouldn't be in this topic as it's not development. If you have a problem with a particular ROM post in the that ROM's thread...
Had the same problem, removed samsung Email.apk and replaced it with the AOSP Email.apk - problem gone.

Hi people.
I have removed all Samsung customization, fitted in supercurio kernel, changed the Samsung launcher with stock nexus s launcher and today i have done a total tryout of the phone.
From 09.00 am to 20.30 pm, with a very heavy use (Bluetooth ad2pvfor music in my car, over 2hours of calls, 25 sms, and two hours of wifi using itunes remote control) i get now a 33% remaining.
Coming from a nexus s suoeramoled 9020 the difference is a lot.
And with a miui or a cyanogen i think will be best.
If someone would like to help me to extract this dump, i will be happy to share my work with all the community!

LOL, I don't think he actually built a custom ROM, more he customised the stock ROM but removing Samsung stuff and adding Gingerbread launcher..
Either way, that's the kind of battery life I want on my SGS2!

Just curious, does group threading work on 4.2? The development was getting real close to being merged in CM10 when 4.2 dropped.
I'll admit I didn't search in this forum first to see if this had been asked..sorry in advance of it has...
Ok sorry I see another post were there is a problem on the T-Mobile phones... how is the at&t version working?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but what ROM were you using? I can't seem to get this to work..
this should also work on stock or custom n4 rom that are running 4.2.. it's part of 4.2. Check your settings in Messaging app and make sure that Group Messaging is checked under MMS settings

No joke - here's a screenshot of my options
This is on the latest version of Paranoid Android.
I just pushed the MMS.apk from the latest nightly, and still no luck. Anyone have any ideas? If I strings the file, I can see it referenced:
Code:
Group messaging
Use MMS to send a single message when there are multiple recipients
Anyone have any ideas?
Is your hack for DPI messing with things or maybe it's a paranoid thing? It shows up just fine on CM10.1 for me.

This appears to be related to my issue. It's not just the APK...
What is this? This just started today and my battery life has decreased substantially. I downloaded only two apps which were "airdroid" and "reality piano" both were deleted but it is still running.

Have you tried stopping the process and see what happens? It would seem that maybe something you downloaded or installed is either being polled or is polling using the daemon process. Obviously related to the camera or camera driver.
Or maybe you just left your stock camera app running. Check and see what applications you have running and see if any of them are related to the camera.
It stopped after an hour but now my phone is getting pretty hot
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
have you rebooted to see if the process restarts?
Yea I dont think its on anymore because the time has said 59 mins for a while
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
I'm going to throw a wild guess out there but you downloaded airdroid and reality piano both of which actively use the camera for whatever task they may have so its most likely one of the two.
Reboot your phone, start one of the apps and see if the process starts?
If its reality piano then you're sort of SOL because its main purpose is using the camera
If its airdroid try and disable the process, might stop a few features but the rest should be ok.

The fix only applies to Nexus devices when they get the 4.4.3 update. Each phone manufacturer (or whoever is responsible for updating their firmware) must implement a fix for the bug on their own. Google updates the Nexus devices directly (or supposedly). So Samsung would have to include a fix for specific Samsung phones.
Hi all
Facebook on my HTC One m9 plus draining battery
I don't even have the official Facebook application installed because it ALWAYS does this. Consider using Tinfoil For Facebook, more secure and doesn't eat resources.

I have used App Quarentine managing Oficial FB App. You can create a widget with the FB apperance but with a lock that can be green (if open) or not (if desable or frozen). You can enable (defrost), open and disable with this widget. I preferred it than Grenify in this case, to prevent FB wake up and drain my battery. Root is required.
