Hey all,
Another question from me. I want to change the boot screen of my ROM. I have been able to change my splash screen. But now I want to do those two things here:
- I want to replace the orange "Windows" screen
- I want to remove the HTC Animation and sound
Thanks!

1)To remove animation, just disable the animation package (HTC animation)
2)To remove sound delete the HTC-QuietlyBrilliantBoot.wav file (in operator package folder) or replace it with a no sound file.
3)The images for the orange screen are inside the runcc package.Try to replace them with same size and resolution images.
Orange Windows Image is located in a couple different places...I guess you would have to search your kitchen to find exactly where it has put them, but in mine they are in:
SYS: Redist_dpi_192_resh_480_resv_800
OEM: OEMDrivers
EXT: RunCC_1_2_1_0
Search your kitchen for these names:
welcomehead.192
RunCC_default_bg_480_800
RunCC_default_bg_800_480
You may also want to change these items to match your replaced images
All runcc_progress-XX files located in runcc
All PB-X files located in oemdrivers

Thanks for helping and I tried it out, but now the boot screen displays very (don't know exactly how to say in English) "compressed" on the bottom of the screen :s This happens only in first boot. In second and later boots it just works

Task29 makes a format in your phone and clean all the files from previous roms.
Otherwise these files are cleaned only if you hard reset your fresh rom.
Thats why I think that previous files were not all deleted and thats why after you hardreseted your rom the picture is fine.

Well I just tried it and for me works fine.
I attach my photos to compare with yours.
You must take care the run cc photos to save them as progressively compressed.I done this with irfan view which is a free program.
Welcomehead.192.png is the first part of the runcc process and can be a different photo as you see in my files.
Welcomehead.192.png and Runcc files can be 480x800 and not only 800x800.
How do you mean, save as progressively compressed? Can you please tell me how I should save the files. The save options are quite advanced for some extensions...
Thanks

In Irfan view you open the image you want and when you click, >File, >Save as and you select the jpeg option, then the possibility to save the jpeg photo as >save as progressive jpg, arises.
I dont know if this is really needed but the original run cc files are saved this way.

i'm using the latest qtek rom but am unable to reomove the second splash screen that shows the windows mobile. managed to changed the first one containin the qtek logo though using buzz's programme.
is there any way to get rid of the windows mobile splash?
Sure, no problem !
Just find any picture (jpg, bmp, gif).
Resize it to 480/640
Convert it with a graphics program (such as irfanview) to a .png file.
Rename this file to welcomehead.192
Copy that file to your /windows directory on the ppc
Softreset.
Voilà. You're done.
Cheers
hrb
actually, the picture needs to be 640x640 because it will be used both in Portrait and Landscape mode.
do you guys have the original welcomehead.192? i sorta deleted it without making a backup. would appreciate any help on this.
you cannot delete it, it is in ROM. As soon as you delete your own creation, the original file will magically reappear.
oh i see. thanks a lot for the input. managed to get it back to mess with it some more

Right, all you smart guys/gals out there, here's a thinker....
According to this page, the .nb file for the Artemis Splash Screen should be 196,608 bytes in size.
If I create one and mix it with an OS using Dark Simpson's HTCRT though, I ALWAYS get "invalid file size". Conversely, I can disassemble and re-assemble the same ROM (including splash screen of the correct size) and it works....
.....could somebody please explain - for I'm a bear of simple brain - why my custom-made splash screen seemingly upsets the applecart?
I know it doesn't matter, but it'll stop me tearing my hear from my head...
Yes, I know you *could* use the Automated Tool which - by the way - is absolutely excellent.
But, what if you wanted to do the whole thing in one flash?
Here goes then:
1) The NBH Headertypes Wiki tells us that a splash screen needs to be 196,608 bytes, so
2) Download the attached zip file and extract the contents to a new folder.
3) Create a 96dpi, 240x320 bmp image for your splash screen. Call this whatever you like, and put the image in the folder you created in step 2) above.
4) If you have the NB Image Converter (I found it here, a nod to the authors.), run it. Select the .bmp image you saved in 2) above. [I've included it in my attachment for those that don't have it already] Save the file in your folder as an nb file.
5) Copy your nb file to a new file "splash2.002". Also in the zip file are 2 files named "splash2.001" and "splash2.003".
6) Run "GlueSplash.bat".
7) Voila! The created "MainSplash.nb" can be flashed in its own right - that would make you mad because you could much easier use the automated tool - or (more sensibly) mixed in with other nb files in a custom ROM.
If anybody spots anything inaccurate, mis-spelled or just plain mental, let me know. The usual "I accept no responsibility" Government Health Warning applies. If you're scared about flashing - don't.

Good one andrew! Shouldn't step 5 read - rename nb to "splash2.002".
And step 7 shouldn't it be mainsplash.nb rather than mainsplash.bat?
Better you change the title of the thread to the title of the second post

Dude, I downloaded the revised tool and triedit for a splash I know works - the resultant nb file is 150k, therefore would require the 'glue' routine to be run before it could be cooked in [to a working nbh file]. From your (obviously intimate) knowledge of your program - is this what it does before flashing? Just curious really...
EDIT: ? don't know what I did the first time - used the file suggested below by Mechsle...got the right result....apols to JC.

Hi,
i downloaded the Pack linked here:

I also downloaded M-Amines Opal Phone, but this one is also not installable correctly and it does not have this slider, that protects the buttons, that i can not click "end call" with my face
Does anyone have a Cab with the slider as shown on the pics in the link above?
I have M-Amine's 2.0 (GER) installed

I don't remember where I got this cab from and I'm not sure whether it has the slider to answer etc. You might want to check the name/size just to make sure it isn't one you already tried. Hope it helps.
Thanks, it is the right one.
BUT: It looks weird
The Slider is not transparent and the Red Button which ends the call is only red and does not show any font.
Do you know why and how to fix it? Maybe I'm doing something wrong

Read this in another thread but can't remember where it was: Maybe try this and then attempt to reinstall the cab file. Hope this helps.
Delete reg keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PhoneCanvas & set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled=0, it should then return to the default windows mobile dialer.

You need the right language files for your ROM.
I installed mbarvian's CAB from here, and it has 3 language file:
phcanrc.dll.0409.mui
ContactAssistDll.dll.0409.mui
PhoneSettingExt.dll.0409.mui
Since I use your same ROM (M-Amine 2.0 [ITA]) I needed .410.mui files and managed to extract these
phcanrc.dll.0410.mui
PhoneSettingExt.dll.0410.mui
from AZTOR Diamond's ROM, and just copied ContactAssistDll.dll.0409.mui to ContactAssistDll.dll.0410.mui.
I am attaching these files, just unzip in \windows and reboot.

Here you go...
I haven't tested these files, but they should work.
In order to extract more languages, just download the ROM in your language from AZTOR thread, extract DIAMIMG.nbh from the archive and issue these commands (you can find the executable here in XDA, just download a recent kitchen...):
NBHextract.exe DIAMIMG.nbh
ren *_OS.nb OS.nb
NBSplit.exe -kaiser OS.nb
ImgfsFromNb.exe OS.nb.payload imgfs.bin
ImgfsToDump.exe imgfs.bin
If everything is fine, you will find a "dump" folder which contains every file in the ROM, just open it and search for the MUIs in your language.

I've been trying to change the splash screen on my jade and have managed to make an nbh file and flash it with the customRUU.
the splash screen has changed but seems to 'cut off' near the bottom where the boot info comes up and shows some of the old splash screen under the info.
Its really wierd I'm sure my image is the right size (I've used several stock ones from this forum)
I'd really like to know where I'm going wrong.

Hi Welshbloke70
I too would like to change (the annoying orange) splash screen on my Jade.
I presume you are talking about the very first splash that appears on start-up?
I’ve successfully done this on a herm200 but you know how things can be different!
Can you explain what steps you took and I’ll try the same on mine to see if we get the same result?
Cheers

Hello,
all you need is a GIF file 240 x 320 Pixels in size.
Place the file in \windows folder.
You might need to use the Total commander to place this file as otherwise you'll get write protection error.
Soft reset after replacing the file.
If you're talking about the HTC screen splash ...
on my set it's this file - animated.gif (240 x 320 pix, 46.1 kb) in \windows.
how do i enable and chamge the animated.gif? and disable the splashscreen?

after a while i found out how to replace it, let me know if u tried the same steps.
renamed the png file to welcomehead.192.png and made another copy of it and named it welcomehead.png
in resco i set some options to show hidden files, then i just moved both of them inside.
i think one of them was unnecessary but... it worked so.. lol
so i did a bit more research, u just need the welcomehead.png
the one with 192 is for a carrier splash.
if u want to use the jpg (i'm guessing it's faster?? i don't really notice much difference), u can put it in there aswell and go into registry.. i think HKLM/software/microsoft/splash and just change the value of the name

drhadr.qsb.cz/stuff/black_win.jpg
drhadr.qsb.cz/stuff/black_win.png
drhadr.qsb.cz/stuff/black_win2.png
Turned out to be slim and elegant as a bg too
If anyone wants to add there any text/label, do it or tell me and I'll put it in there

Is there any way to also get a shutdown screen? There is only a starting up file in the zip. Also, what's the best way to try to install the welcome/shutdown splash? Through the advanced config app or otherwise? And lastly, which splash screen does this replace, the orange windows mobile one, the T-Mobile one, or both? Any responses would be helpful.
the skin/theme you have is fantastic, with the clock and slide bar on the bottom. Could you please tell me where you got it or did you make it yourself?
