I turn headset on as per instructions, it wasn't even paired with any other device yet (it was waiting for Z to arrive ) but it doesn't get discovered by Desire Z. Z does discover my laptop, so Bluetooth is working.
I have no idea what might be wrong?

Some BT manufacturers have trouble-shooting guides you can follow.
Also, can you test the headset to see if it will pair with another phone or your laptop?
if ur headset was paired to device before, look if there is someway to reset ur headset, usually holding button power for seconds to reset it
Some headsets (whether they have been paired before or not) need to be put in pairing mode. Read the headsets documentation.
Thanks, will look at the manual, I only read Quick Start Guide which said the device goes into pairing mode automatically when turned on.
It's HTC headset, it has to work ;-)

Hi, I am trying to pair my old Nokia Bluetooth headset (BH-102) with my Topaz wihtout any luck. I have seen posts (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-345805.html, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457368) that have paired Nokia with HTC. Any ideas? The headset is not even found when I search for Bluetooth devices.
have you made sure your phone is on discoverable mode?
I've paired 2 different nokia bluetooth headphones to my Topaz without problem (as well as 2 Sony Ericsson ones)
"Make this device visible to other devices" is the option you must have checked (at least the first time)
Incase you don't have the manual:
"Clear settings or reset
To delete the pairings from the
headset, switch off the headset, and
press and hold the multifunction key
for over 8 seconds until the headset
beeps twice and the indicator light
flashes quickly."
then, once you're done that, switch your bluetooth on on your phone, make sure it's discoverable, then turn on your headset.
Thanks!! Worked like Magic! So dumb of me
I have some bluetooth headphones, that used to work a treat on my old Touch HD and Iphone, but when I turn on bluetooth on the galaxy s and search for devices, it simply doesn't find them...
Am I doing something wrong, sorry if this has been asked before, new to all this android stuff
Are you putting the headset into pairing mode before scanning for it?
Nope the headset simply has an on off button, it has a 0000 code and that's it ?
Usually a bluetooth headset has to be activated in pairing mode to be detectable for the first time. For example, holding the power button for several seconds etc. You may want to confirm with the instruction manual.
if you paired it the first time, it will automatically detect both features.
just for the record, my good old Motorola HT820 works fine with my SGS, loud and clear
I'm using the Sony Ericsson HBH DS-980 with my Galaxy S with no issues.

i have an slighly older model of this one
i stopped using it due the wires, it gets annoying, it reminds me too much of using regular wired headsets
sound is good only when you stuck the entire plug into your ears, but it hurts after a while
I had the HBH 970, it sucked when it comes to sound quality.
here is my brief review

of all the BT stereo headsets i've ever used
Sorry people, thanks for your help and your right, I wasn't holding the button long enough to initially pair the device, DOH!!!
Works a treat now, I thought it couldn't be the device had to me, and it was...
Not quite the same problem as OP, but related to bluetooth headset:
Having problems with a Plantronics Backbeat 903 bluetooth headset connection to my Galaxy S.
(Long story, so stick with me here...)
When I intiate a pairing and connect, everything's fine, but if I shutdown/disconnect the headset and then turn on/connect the headset again later, it seems to have lost the 'media' connection ( but 'phone' connection still appears active).
So, I look in Settings/Wireless And Network/Bluetooth Settings/Backbeat9XX, then long press to bring up 'Options' I see a greyed out 'Media' option. I press this to 'activate' it, and all seems hunky dory, but the headset still doesn't work for 'media'. I go back in thru all the steps & find the 'Media' option greyed out again.
Rinse and repeat; same result. Again & again.
Bottom line: can't seem to get 'Media' active & stay that way.
This headset worked fine with my Motorola Milestone, BTW.
Maybe the A2DP 'stack' is screwy on my phone? How would I check this/change this?
Any ideas?
I have sony DR-BT50 which the quality is very good and so comfortable using it with my laptop or nokia n97 , but I can not discover it by my samsung galaxy s,
Hello.
I have just bought a Dell Streak in Dubai. It was android 2.1 and I was able to immediately update it to 2.2. It works beautifully, is fast and does everything I throw at it and more.
Problem:
Bluetooth audio simply does not work. I have tried pairing it with my car kit, a nokia headset, a jabra headset and a generic bluetooth headset. It pairs fine with the headsets and phone calls seem to go to the headset but there is no audio in the headset. The person on the other side also cannot hear anything. And after i press the bluetooth button during the call to bring the call back to the phone, the headset(or car kit) seems "locked" and only gets free when I switch off bluetooth on the streak.
Bluetooth file transfer works fine and I have tested it with a samsung galaxy s. But it doesnt work for phone calls. It is a major problem as it is difficult to use the device without the bluetooth on a regular basis and especially in the car.
I would appreciate any help in this matter as I love the device but as I spend considerable amount of my time driving, it is getting very annoying.
I had originally posted this on the Dell support forum and I was recommended to post it in the XDA forum.
Thanks
Babar Malik
I use my dell streak with my motorola s10 bt headset and my car bt handsfree system and have no issues at all.
Maybe try un-pairing all devices and repairing them and testing then one at a time and see is that helps. Askari when a device is connected go to settings, wireless, bluetooth and see if you can tap and hold on the connected bt item and see if you can adjust its settings.

Thanks for the assist but i tried unpairing and pairing but it did not work. Not too many options in the menus to change so I am pretty much stuck here.
As I have updated to android 2.2 from 2.1 which came with the phone, would a factory reset send the system back to 2.1 and then i can check whether bluetooth works or not? I mean, I cant think of anything else to do.
Is it possible that something i have downloaded or installed on the sd card is causing audio conflict with the bluetooth audio?
Thanks
Hi.
Very happy with my SE arc, but i'm having a little problem with my Nokia BH-900 BT headset and the arc.
No problem connecting them, but when I use them together they randomly loose contact for a second and then establish contact again.
This doesn't happen when in call, only when idle and it wouldn't be a problem if not the headset gave a little beep when disconnecting and again connecting again (although very handy with the beeps so I don't fall to sleep in car )
I have reconnected a couple of times, and when I have there's not a problem, but the problem reappear next time I turn on the headset.
Anyone who could direct me in a solution ?
Did I say I'm VERY HAPPY with the arc ?? Well if not then I will state I am
And i have problems with the nokia carkit 3100. It cannot even pair. I think this is a software related problem. My desire with gingerbread does not have this problem, r the desire runs 2.3.3.
I hope SE will soon update to 2.3.3

I have no problem with pairing, but if 2.3.3 can do something it would be nice.
I have tried some more headset, Jabra headset works fine, and I have tried a Nokia BH-600 which also works. You could suspect a faulty BH-900 headset, but it works on other phones,
So why are my BH-900 headset from Nokia disconnecting and immediately connecting again on my Sony Ericsson Xperia arc ?
Anyone experienced similar problem ?
I bought a plantronics 903+. (bluetooth earphone, with microphone). However A500 cannot search it. I'm sure the 903+ works properly, because it works prefectly with my SonyEricsson X10.
I "googled" for more infoamtion... There are no useful so far. I think it's not the hardware problem, and it can be resolved by some software or a little MOD, am I right?
Would anyone help? Thanks very much in advance.!
Most Bluetooth headsets require a different power up procedure to connect it to another device. When you bought it, did you first connect it to the Sony phone? If so, you might wanna take a look at the headset's manual to find out how to properly put the headset into a discoverable mode. Most of the time it just requires powering the headset on by holding the power button for like 5-10 seconds rather than just pressing it once briefly.
ALSO, the Acer manual states "Only A2DP stereo headsets (without microphone) are supported."
With that said, you should still be able to search and find the headset, maybe even pair with it, but the tablet and the headset must support the same bluetooth profiles (Bluetooth 2.1+EDR & A2DP support)

Thanks! The earphone works properly with my Sony Ericsson phone. I think, "(without microphone)" is the problem...
"must support the same bluetooth profiles"...is it possible to add the profile in A500?
I'd check the headsets manual. Some headsets will only synk to one product.
Thanks for your response!
I am a fool... I double checked the manual. According to it, the earphone works perfectly.
Still, I am not sure why the X10 works well with it...
Whatever the problem is ok.
