font issue showing square boxes at trailing edge - Desire Themes and Apps

I'm reading up on why the font I am using (Ubuntu) is showing square boxes at the end of sentences or trailing when there are dots. Such as:
This is the senten....[]
It appears to be it's missing a symbol or something? So I'm wondering if there is a way to edit the .ttf and add in an empty space to represent that missing symbol?

So no one knows why it is doing this?

I'D like to know why this is as well. Appeared since I've uograded to DeFroST 6.0g

Hello,
I have the same problem.
I use CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1 and I install the font using FontChanger 1.4.
Font I have taken directly from my Ubuntu 10.10 (ttf folder or something...).

bump to see if anyone knows

Upgraded to 6.0j and still the same problem ...

It's a font issue, not cache or anything, some fonts don't show this, so it must be in the font pack itself, I'm just wondering if we can edit the pack and replace whatever the hell android puts in those squares with just "..." or a empty space.

Yes, it was actually the first thing I tried to do ;D
And I don't think it's a font issue, as it works perfectly on other AOSP ROMs..

Let me revive this old thread.
I'm seeing this as well on my legend in CM7 stable. I also saw it in CM6.1. However I don't see this in late nightly builds of CM7 (I still have a nandroid back up of one of those) so it's definitely *not* a font issue.

I'm having the same issue after flashing CM7 Nightly 92 (os version 2.3.4) for my Desire Z.
More information:
I am using ADW Launcher EX and Minimalist Theme.
I have flashed Ubuntu font. (did this before when I was using earlier CM7 but no such problem)
The squares boxes appear for SMS in notification bar as well as the app's label in app drawer (as posted above).
Would really appreciate any fix on this as this is kind of annoying and unpleasant to see.

Urgh ive been looking everywhere and there doesn't seem to be a solution for this. I'm on CM7.0.3 stable mod. I did not have this problem on rooted stock gingerbread.

was looking for fix but nothing found.
here the fix btw. flash thru CWM or extract manually.

how do i get the black notification bar?

i know this might be an overplayed question, but i am quite new to this and have tried searching all over the threads as well as the web. how do i get the notification bar to be black?
i have tried several different things with no success. i have rooted my phone with visionary, and also downloaded metamorph, andexplorer, busybox installer, and pretty much anything i needed to try to get it black.
i tried checking out this thread (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783977) and downloaded the necessary zip files for the one i wanted. i was looking at the desire wifi(the one with the percentage number as the battery). i downloaded the zip and used metamorph to apply it, my phone restarted and my background changed, but no success to my status bar. please help! i am wanting the black status bar desperately! a step by step tutorial would be very helpful..and im sure other people in the future would benefit greatly from it. thanks in advance!
I'm guessing no help on this?

Now that we're rooted, it will only be a matter of days or weeks. Nothing is out for a black notification bar for the G2 yet, but with Cyanogen and his crazy color customizations in CyanogenMod6, we'll have all the customization we need as soon as CM6 is out for the G2.
I can't wait!
This is one of the main things I've been waiting on for my g2

Disregard... Metamorph allows you to do it.

thank you! it worked.....for a bit. now im having restart issues. i was able to see it once, then it restarted and got stuck on the g2 boot screen. i have to remove the battery in order for it to resume and have my phone working again. which then it reverts back to the white bar. any ideas?
You could put the desire z rom on there. That allows you to change the color of the bar.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
i would have to perma-root it in order to do that, wouldn't i? and where would i get the desire z rom?

I have the same issue with my Droid and T-Bolt, both on 3G and on WiFi.
Yea, I was wondering this too. Did you get these from somewhere else or are they made by you? Link would be great if you got it somewhere else. I'm just asking because this is how I learn how you guys do what you do best (cooking ROMs).

use root explorer and swap fronts folder with the one from orignal debloat rom
Yes that font is horrible. Here are steps I found to change the font, but I just went back to the original rom.

It did appear to be fast, but if you just left the original font it would have been almost perfect.
If you want to change the font, download font installer from the market.

[Q][Nook App]CM7 203 - Nook App looks all screwed up, can't read latest maganizes

I have installed CM7 203 from 200, just to see if that would fix the issue - it didn't:
Ever since the Nook APP updated to 2.7.2, it doesn't work right. it opens up, in much larger fonts than before, and when you hit the mag you want to read, there is no longer a list of issues from newest to oldest - now it seems the issues are all overlaid on top of each other and only the oldest is reachable.. which of course is no fun..
any suggestions?

installed an older version of nook app, and the problem remains. I guess the CM7 200+ resolution change screwed this up.
back to CM7 nightly version 175.
Cleared nook app data and I can now see the latest issues
Okay, this was very helpful... I was having the same problem and couldn't figure it out... Back to CM175 for me too...
Thanks
If you switch to screen density 161 it fixes the display, the only problem is, you'll run into market issues. It's a way to fix it temporarily, but I'd like to see if anyone can solve this one so I don't need to switch density back and forth just to read a magazine. And I don't really want to step back to an older nightly.
I'm having the same issue. Bump to see if anyone else has any ideas. I'd like to install CM7 to the emmc instead of using the uSD card, but not if I cannot select my magazines.
This is using both nightly build 213 and the stable 7.1.

didn't work for me... same issue
just installed LCD Density app from market and at 180, the nook app is fine for magazines, but not books. I get "this title cannot be viewed on this device"..
Just for kicks, has anyone tried an old nightly to see if this is an app problem or a CM7 problem?
I put nightly 86 here if someone with magazines wants to try....

[Q] MIUI features on CM7

I'm planning to move from MIUI to CM7.2 but i really like MIUI's statusbar mods (battery bar, transparency, centered clock, hiding icons/carrier etc) and the volume button music control. Are these mods available for CM as well?
Also is there any setting to disable 'Fast Charge' mode like in some CM9 builds? I hate the slowdown during charging because of this.
TIA
i think all are available except the battery bar. if you are so into miui, why don't you try WIUI it has all the features of cm7 into MIUI.

Links please!
I just want to know whether these options exists for 'Official CM' (not as some mash-up ROM) and how to do it.
And I have tried WIUI, it's still largely MIUI.

I meant the links for the mods not cm7
Tried searching but lots of abandoned threads comes up from development sections of other devices. If you've used MIUI you'd know there's the famous Andy's mod called 'Extended Settings' which allows all the status bar tweaks from its app. I was looking for a similar solution for CM. There's this for CM9, which offers the same features. I was hoping something like that for CM7 as well.
My current status bar:

Probably this mod changes the SystemUI.apk, the one responsible for the battery indicators. In order to have both mods you have to merge the changes to the SystemUI.apk.

i think its cause it modifies system UI settings wich includes the battery indicator so for now if u flash in recovery one of the things u cant have the other one, or u can modify the system in phone... i think its explained how in the aurora mods thread.
i updated to last version yesterday and im using multitasking but if i go to settings of phone and ask to use percentage indicator of battery it wont show cause my sistem UI is modified...
if im wrong im sorry and please correct me... hope its helpfull
