Apparently not, still only accepts digits.
I've yet to install it, but checked the vodafone forums, and this is a reported issue.
Been stated that Vodafone branding (startup, 360) has all been removed, can someone confirm, I'm not in a position to update yet?
Does anyone know if
1/ this is the same old WJPA thats been floating around for a while?
2/ the CF-root we've been using will work to root this?

If you check on Voda Live's page about the update it does say Voda startup and shut down aminmation removed along with 2 pre loaded games and 360 applications. But you can download them yourself if you really must have them.
Thankfully Voda IE were knocking out unbranded, unbloated and unlocked Galaxies when I got mine.
Although I've flashed it that many times now I'm buggered if I can remember what flavour of Eclair it came with lol
Can't confirm

Kies regards DocRom 7.5 as already installed...
So I guess the upgrade is old news for anyone who is on Doc's rom anyway - so no point in upgrading to their JPA - unless they did something to it to improve the (still not great) GPS.
Mark.
I got the text from Vodafone this morning but Kies says
"Current Version: PDA: JM1/PHONE:JG6/CSC:JG7
This device's version cannot be updated"
Could this have something to do with the fact that I originally updated to the Nordic Froyo in September via a registry hack and then went back to JM1 via Odin flashing?
I was hoping I could return to branded official Vodafone Firmware incase I need to return under warranty.

probably, but you could flash back to the version you had initially, then flash to JPA via Kies... that should work.

Seeing you already know how to use odin, then you should go to http://samfirmware.webs.com/ and find the firmware that your phone came with, download it, and flash all three of those files using ODIN. Then each of those three components should revert to what they should be. PDA, Phone, CSC. Use the correct PIT file (also listed on that site, and Id do a factory reset and repartition when using Odin to basically remove as much of the existing stuff as possible. (backup with titanium pro & appbrain first)

That's exactly what I did do when flashing back to JM1, I flashed all three files. So are you saying that PHONE:JG6/CSC:JG7 are wrong for JM1, ,ight sound stupid but I'm kind of new to this.
Edit: I just downloaded the JM1 Firmware and those are the correct components. Anyone got any ideas?
Second edit: I then downloaded a second file from there with ostensibly the same firmware which comes with all three files marked JM1. I'm going to try flashing that.

So according to Kies, the Bell version of the GT-i9000M firmware is not upgradeable
that must be a joke, as we can easily flash to any other I9000 ROM firmware with Odin
As far as i know it just tells you that there are no Official updates ready for your device
i have same problem. Version JF5. says can't be updated not update not available/latest version. what can it be??
They are the latest official versions available for those devices. The samsung-firmwares leaked versions haven't been officially released via Kies.

any idea on a possible solution??
It's not a problem or issue you in any way need to worry about.
If there IS an update, they WILL update the server and then you can see the update on Kies.
IF there IS NOT an update, it's a non-issue, right?

i think it might be a problem because i'm from italy, my phone is an "imported" phone so it comes from portugal. firmware version are different italy and portugal. samsung support says that with kies i will not be able to update my phone and i will have to bring it to an assistance point. wich since it's not an italian phone but has european warranty has to be shipped. the end is that if kies doesn't work only way to update is with other programs , not the "official" way. until somebody can prove it's just something temporary( wich i hope!!)
bye!

Hi, I'm affraid it's not about impoerted phone but about customized phone from mobile operator. I have phone from Vodafone, and I've got the same bad message, my colegue has phone from Samsung shop and he has "right" message about lates version. I hope upgrade to 2.2 will be available to all not only for non customized devices :-(
Speaking of Bell's JG9...has there been a firmware dump from one yet? I would like to get back some of the apps that were installed by default that got dropped when I had to go back to JG8.

mine is samsung, not branded... anyway all will be clear when froyo is out!! otherwise we will go with odin...
omg I waited all day at work to get this update for and now this...
So is this a problem with ALL Bell phones or just a select few "JG9's"
Does this have anything to do with two driver that are unrecognized by my Windows 7 (64)?
The phone detects fine in Kies, but I think I may be missing something. I can't even get Samsung Apps support in Kies cause it says my phone is not supported... WTF!!
Erm... I don't know if this is actually a problem. My device, upgraded last week to JM1 through Kies from JF3, said until tonight that JM1 was the latest version. I just connected it to have a look, and now it says that JM1 cannot be updated. This just happened. So I think someone is messing around with the Kies releases...maybe tomorrow it will say that it's the latest version again... who knows. I'm not really worried. Yet.
I did get a Samsung update today from Samsung Apps, now I have 8 apps, the newest being Radio Companion. Maybe that's part of the problem. I think Samsung needs more people to look into all this Kies thing.

I don't think Samsung Apps works in Kies, my phone was never supported, so don't worry about that. Kies is a joke atm.
if you hook up your Bell phone with JG9 or anything older it will show you the JH2 upgrade
Has anyone found a solution to this? Or has the problem suddenly fixed itself for anyone?
Not sure why it says it's not updatable, but before the JH2 that's what mine said when I plugged the phone in. when JH2 came out it showed that I could update.
I wouldn't worry about it at this point. I'm guessing the update has not rolled out for your area is all.
O.
I have the bell i9000m and i upgraded 2 days ago... it lets you download the full version of ashfault 5 from samsung apps, which is really fun!
Firmware is now posted on samsung-firmwares.com

Ok here is a simple tutorial for any new to this tab stuff like I was yesterday.
I take no credit for this just wanted to help compile an easy solution.
It is so simple once you figure it out.
First download Odin v1.7 here unzip it and stick it on your desktop,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=478059&d=1293895557
Then download these files.
http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/JME/
These zips need to be unpackaged to get to the .tar files. Pay attention as Winrar will see .tar as a .zip too. (read the file extensions or you can't select them in Odin.) Stick the 3 files (pit, modem,FmInsSD) into a folder on your desktop. (You no longer use the "Jme-hidden" file shown in the pic.)
Attach your tab to your computer, if you have windows 7 the drivers will be installed for you. If you don't you'll need to get them from here.
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...G_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.3.350.0.exe
launch Odin v1.7(if you get an error about some missing .dll file then you need to install the Microsoft .Net framework)
It should look like this once configured correctly:
MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU ADD YOUR FILES-THE TAB IS PLUGGED IN-YOU WILL HAVE A YELLOW COM BOX CIRCLED IN THE PIC IF IT IS CORRECTLY CONNECTED AND READY TO FLASH.
ALSO YOU MUST HAVE A BIG TRANGLE ON YOUR TAB WITH A DIGGING ANDROID (to do this power up the tab while holding down the down volume button)
Looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
LOAD THE FILES AS SHOWN IN THE PIC THEY ARE CIRCLED IN RED
MAKE SURE REPARTITION IS CHECKED THE OTHER BOXES ARE CHECKED BY DEFAULT-LEAVE THEM HOW THEY ARE.
ONLY IF YOU HAVE EVERYTHING DONE. (DOUBLE CHECK)
HIT START
Do not touch anything or use your computer it takes about 5 mins to reboot your tab to the kies sync screen.
your done enjoy!
HIT ME SOME THANKS IF THIS WORKED FOR YOU.
Nice work.
You might want to specify that this is for gsm only as many may not be aware.
I on sprint so I guess I have to wait but it's good too see this kind of work being put out there.
Thanks

Oh...and what is the difference between v1 and v2?
Hi Guys,
I'm from austria and have only one question: since i have flashed my tab to jm6 and higher, the bootloader is protected and it's not possible to go back to stock (in my case: hutchinson 3g austria).
now i have flashed to roto's jme, it work very fine! but he's writing, that's possible to go back to t-mobile stock (usa), no matter the bootloader was signed (protected) before flashing or not.
is there also a way to go back to others stock arround the world??? or is it only possible for t-mobile usa-users? thanks a lot!

I doubt it. You either flash custom firmware and enjoy it, or sit in front of your computer hoping/waiting for Kies to update you
I think XDA has provided way more updates than Kies so far.

+1 to Roto's answer. Kies reads your firmware version when you connect the Tab and will only offer you an update if it recognises that there is an upgrade available for the firmware it sees on your Tab. This generally means that if you have flashed pre-release firmware which has development / test codes it won't offer you any of the official production upgrades (or any upgrades usually!). It is possible to fake your Tab's signature in Kies to make it flash official releases over dev/test firmware, do a search on the Samsung Galaxy S forums for how to do this.
Don't think so. So far kies have give me 2 updates. It work amazingly. Now is smother. Just my opinion.

So yeah, I got this update just a few minutes ago, region is Singapore and I can't find anything on this KH4 firmware in the development forums, only KH7 over in the Development forums. Anyone knows where I can download this other than from Kies?
edit: Just to clarify my previous firmware was KG7.
I flashed it via KIES earlier today but after I CWM it a while later, KIES unable to find this KH4 anymore.
Reimaged my PC and installed KIES again but still can't find it???
That Kernel is quite new. :O
Kies does not even recognize my device, lol
If anyone is able to download it, Kies save the download in a temp folder somewhere, before you start the update of the device your able to graab it from there. It was so long agao i did this, on my Galaxy S I9000, but it shouldnt be to hard to find just look at time and date. it would be ace if someone could do that so the dev could look at it.
i am trieng to get kies work, then i will try to save it.
I installed this on my tab a few days ago.
Where should I look for the firmware to upload for you leet devs
Also how can I tell what tab I have Europe , Asia etc.
I purchased it from Singapore but it had a UK wall plug or does Singapore have same plugs?
upload it anywhere, doesn't matter.
I got kies working, doesn't show that update for me =(

same here
It does show up in my Kies but it fails to update. Kies on Mac Osx Lion says it has to update itself first to be able to proceed with firmware update. Then it fails to download the update of itself. On 64 bit Win 7 and latest Kies the firmware uodate app fails with some .Net exception. Thanks Samsung for your quality software.
Kies is one of the worst programms I've ever been using.
Men that sucks doesn't even show for me.
I guess it would be too much to expect Samsung to keep a blog or something devoted to tracking these updates and explaining them in plain language?
Are updates made available OTA at some point or is Kies the only way to update the Tab?

Actually, no. Your phone is different to the international SGSII. Get it from Samfirmware.
Mind you it's a 3 package odin flash. You select Code for PDA, Modem for Phone, and CSC for CSC. No repartition, no pit file. Also make sure to select the above files first, THEN connect your phone to the pc, and start the flashing.

At the battery placement. It has a sticker which shows me the model. Is it the right location, or is it at the box?

I suppose that's the right place to look at.
I am not certain about this, however. You *should* be able to flash the international software.
Do you remember the version of your old software? was it ZC?

I am not too sure what to suggest. You tried ZCKH2 and failed, is that correct? Odin said passed with green letters etc? Do you want to try that once more, then if it fails again, use an international firmware?

Before it got bricked, Odin showed a fail sign when I started the update. My phone was purchased from singapore by the way.

Still fail! Could it be the cause of my Odin? I am using odin v1.83.

What international firmware should I use? I tried ZCKH2, but still won't work. So what international firmware should I use?
I just clicked on software update/check for update in the 'About Phone' section of my settings. I've never clicked it before. It said new firmware required. So I let it download the new software. Then it said charge battery before updating, and then it let me choose when to resume the update. I chose 3 hours. So I'm on stock Android 2.3.3. Gingerbread XWKE7 . What will it update to? I'm a bit worried now, is it going to wipe stuff? Everything's working good so I don't 'need' to update, but it would be nice to.
Update will be 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 .
jje
Interesting... Just noticed on mine too.
Won't have a chance to do it though until Monday.
Roman5, can you tell us more of this please:-
1. What version?
2. Did it remove anything (shouldn't have)?
3. Anything new noted?
4. Any speed/battery issues?
Thanks...
I think it will be 2.3.4 XWKI4 (updated mine via Kies couple of days ago), doubt it will be 2.3.5 so fast after 2.3.4 because the providers have to check it and add their bloatware to it.
I lost a few of my Apps what wasn't on my SD card, contacts, messages etc, but did a backup on Kies of everything I wanted and restored it after firmware was updated.
Battery life improved a little bit, the fonts are bolder, not really much difference to be honest.
it will be stock 2.3.4 XWKI4 if your on XEU product code.....
ditch that and install 2.3.5 KI8 through Odin
Thanks Guys..... I've left you both a vote each.

and i have in reply
ive just flashed KI8 from KI3 - i used Intratechs KI8 with old bootloaders so i can reset the kernal counter in download mode, but added the XEUKH2 CSC file into Odin thus giving me XEU CSC not NEE as the original firmware - works a treat, non wipe so all apps and settings remain and its very snappy. also brings you upto 2.3.5
Yay, no wipe! This is what I got. I thought it might also update Android but it hasn't. What benefits can I expect from the updated Gingerbread XWKF3?

Wow, I never used Kies before, but now that I have a wifi router, it works!
So, it told me to type in a url into my PC browser and now I see all my phone stuff on my desktop pc screen. Cool.
Now what? What's K14, what's XEU and how do I do this? Will this involve any wiping?
Kies on the pc not phone app. Download it from samsung site and plug usb cable into phone....

For Vodafone Romania update is to 2.3.5 ( BUKI1 baseband and BUKI3F kernel ).
Is not yet available through Kies but only OTA.
All done, on 2.3.4 now and Gingerbread.XWKI4

It wasn't without it's problems though. Several times it would not connect when I connected the phone to kies and had to reinstall the drivers. The most worrying time was this

And on the phone was the green android and a message saying "do not disconnect target!!". After disconnecting, fortunately it rebooted normally and nothing on the phone had changed. So I followed the instructions, and it went through the whole re-downloading of the firmware, and all went well in the end. Phew!

Do you have a Vodafone Romania branded device and you were able to update through OTA ? Mine says: Samsung account already added and that's it. No update
Yes, I managed to do the OTA update this evening and it has remained on Android 2.3.3
It was worrying as it actually carried out 4 yes four updates.
I didn't notice what it did with the second update but here's a list of the versions it installed:-
Original ~ Baseband = KDH
Gingerbread = KDD
Update 2 ~ Baseband = KDJ
Gingerbread = KE2
Update 3 ~ Baseband = KE4
Gingerbread = KE7
Update 4 ~ Baseband = KE7
Gingerbread = KF3
Update fail
My Czech Vodafone (non-branded) got it's OTA update, first (bigger one) came trough all right, the second one (smaller) did not. After installing and rebooting it is stuck on the first black screen with white text with the name of the phone. No reboot helped, no factory reset from recovery mode:/ nothing!! it is so frustrating !!
any ideas?

How long did you leave it for?
Mine took well over 10mins sitting there at that screen.... Eventually it rebooted.
TYhe same was with the forth update during the applying mode.... It remained on 86% for well over 5mins.
Yes, it was not easy I had the phone rooted, OTA was not working ( update stopped at 7% saying that I need to contact samsung or do upgrade through Kies ). I installed BUKE5 (unroot) then OTA updated to G1 then I1 ( actually was more updates 3-4, no idea how many exactly ).
Funny is that after upgrade Kies say " you are f.ed, you don't have an official version"
