Can anyone here provide me with the original "wpa_supplicant" file in /system/bin/ of 2.1 firmware.
I replaced it with other wpa_supplicant for enabling wifi adhoc network but I f****d up as I didn't backed up my original file.
I don't want to re-flash for enabling my wifi.
Thanks in advance for helping me

i purchased the phone with 2.1, didnt root it... did the OTA udate to froyo 2.2.... on august 27th i read that the root for OTA stock froyo was created on the 26th... performed the root for 2.2 successfully... however... none of the versions of the WiFi tether app for root users are working... once i start tethering, no devices can pick up the signal n if it does i get a messege on my laptop saying that there is no internet access... please help... if its a quick fix please PM me cause im always busy n i barely check the forum.... thank you in advance
Because it doesn't work, sprint did something special for it not to work, I forget what it is
you try this one?
I had the same issue. I typed out the fix on another thread. Basically you have to use the ruu to go back to 2.1 then find the rooted 2.2 stock img with recovery and apply that from the updated 2.2 root guide. This will fix your problems and work in any of the roms
afterward.

I recently tried to change roms on my droid x, but I forgot to mount system before installing and now my phone is bricked. I was running the 2.3.315 system build when i did it. Does anyone have the file or a link to where i could find this file? Or would it work if I simply flashed the 2.3.340 release?
Thanks for any and all help, I really appreciate it

Would this also be the route for me to go if I'm still on version 2.3.9?
I haven't checked out any new stuff for the phone in a while and would like to get to the newest .340.
Is there a root method for the wifi only xoom

..Not Yet..
This is what all of us are waiting on. After waiting patiently for the wi/fi model, now we must wait patiently for the community.
It is still a work in progress. The first thing that needs to happen is to extract the wifi only stock "boot.img" to find out the differences between the wifi only and wifi+3g versions.
Not only that tiamat and coolbho3000 will have to provide an updated kernel with a new ocboot.img file based on the wifi only version.
Seems like a lot of work that needs to happen but development will speed up once the wifi only xoom is available for the general public (mar 27th). Hope it takes less than a week to crack the root since I expect to get my wifi xoom on this upcoming wed.

If you guys can unlock bootloader, just rip the boot.img for backup. Then use my kernel instead of the listed one in the root method. If it fails, just flash ur backup boot.img. Tiamat has wifi only drivers in it.

Can you give more details or instructions on how to do a rip of the boot.img for backup? Some of us are noobs here. Hopefully the community can figure out a solution soon to rooting the wifi version.
It's fruitless to chase the stockboot.img - grab your root here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010568
Download fixed, file now extracts

I take no responsibility for creating a brick if something goes wrong. May be a good idea to create a CWM backup prior to flashing.
? stock recovery or cwm flashing?
so can i just flash this
I had rooted right out of the box and i regret doing it cuz i dont see a real reason to overclock when everything runs fine as is..
can i flash in cwm(power vol.-) or stock recovery (power vol.+)
thank you for this i wanted to unroot and go back to stock but every time i tried to update it said network coverage is poor please find a different location ..

Yes and no,
You can flash with CWM however after downloading the archive you will need to extract it and only use the update.zip from within. You need to place the update on the EXTERNAL sd card for it to work. It is running great on my a500.
Make sure your version is running the same as the before I have posted in the OP. I don't know if it will make a difference but it might.
Ok yea before I rooted it wanted me to update to the ver. You had before you updated to your current build.
I wounder if you are correct about update to 3.1 then 3.2 cuz it definitely was trying to do the other build not the 3.2 unless that is new..
I hope that the update help fc'ings with some gameloft games asphalt 6 was downloaded while on 3.0.1 tried to play compatibility issue then used a501 rom and others all popular roms still didn't work...
Frustrating ..
Is there a way after I update to do a factory reset to delete every and start over .. everytime I try it just delete apps kinda all programs are still there though ex. I go to market after factory reset and it says open insted of install so the apps are hidden but still installed lol..
Sry for writing a book but I'm getting frustrated.
thank you again bud!

Winrar, winzip, and 7zip all give an error. Either the cheap file hosting is messed up, or the OP did. Oh well
odd... opens just fine on my ubuntu system using file-roller
Here's a good link to:

Do u think after I do this I can update from it and factory reset it? If I use cwm or should I flash stock recovery if I'm trying to go to complete stock?

I am currently running Dexter mod 1.4, I have the adhocfix, but no idea how to use it or what to do, is anyone able to tell me fairly straight-forward instructions since I keep seeing where people say to use the thing, but not how to.
It is for people having problem with ad-hoc wifi connection, if you aren't having problems you don't need it

I was having trouble but was able to figure out how to install the patch.
For anyone reading this searching for help. Rename the adhoc fix Update.zip and then flash the same way you would any other rom update.
That is already stated in the orignal post for dexters mod
