I am currently running Dexter mod 1.4, I have the adhocfix, but no idea how to use it or what to do, is anyone able to tell me fairly straight-forward instructions since I keep seeing where people say to use the thing, but not how to.
It is for people having problem with ad-hoc wifi connection, if you aren't having problems you don't need it

I was having trouble but was able to figure out how to install the patch.
For anyone reading this searching for help. Rename the adhoc fix Update.zip and then flash the same way you would any other rom update.
That is already stated in the orignal post for dexters mod

i purchased the phone with 2.1, didnt root it... did the OTA udate to froyo 2.2.... on august 27th i read that the root for OTA stock froyo was created on the 26th... performed the root for 2.2 successfully... however... none of the versions of the WiFi tether app for root users are working... once i start tethering, no devices can pick up the signal n if it does i get a messege on my laptop saying that there is no internet access... please help... if its a quick fix please PM me cause im always busy n i barely check the forum.... thank you in advance
Because it doesn't work, sprint did something special for it not to work, I forget what it is
you try this one?
I had the same issue. I typed out the fix on another thread. Basically you have to use the ruu to go back to 2.1 then find the rooted 2.2 stock img with recovery and apply that from the updated 2.2 root guide. This will fix your problems and work in any of the roms
afterward.

Alright guys, a few more rookie questions from this kid and I'll stop bothering the piss out of you
First off, I've recently rooted, and I have a few questions. I'm running a stock rom, and I rooted using the one click root but other than that, I haven't done anything major to my phone because I'm sort of lost in the process on a few things.
So, number one, I keep reading about the new update, I think it was DI18 or something to that effect? What I'm curious to know is, am I going to get these updates OTA with root, and, if so, will it remove root or am I fine as long as I have a stock rom? I just need to know if I need to avoid updating the phone OTA or not worry about it.
Also, I wanted to know how to get a netfiltered enabled kernel. i've been trying to use Wireless-Tether and I don't get any errors, just no UL or DL numbers and it doesn't do anything to my computer.
I posted a few threads ago that I am completely new to Android and such and have been running WinMo for the last 4 or 5 years. I'm trying to get used to all of this and after running with my HTC Raphael for the last year and a half I'm finally upgrading and this is a whole new world.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks to everyone in the community! I really appreciate all of it. Oh, and for the record, I've looked around for a few hours on the net trying to figure out these things but I can't seem to find any answers. It seems like all of this is common knowledge for everyone else, but I've been running with Android for less than 2 weeks now. Thanks all.

I seem to be having the same problem you are with wireless tethering. So if you figure out a fix please let me know.
We don't need a special kernel for wireless tether. Wirelss tether for android pre15 works fine for me. Ota updates will remove root, but so far it seems our same root method is fine with 2.2.1 updates (dk28) .

Isn't it true though that some custom kernels don't support tethering? For example, I run Andromeda DI18 and when I try to tether it says its not supported by my kernel.
Well, not sure. The only ones I have run are mix up and fluff. Both worked for me.

Hey all,
Got my Vibrant today and am loving it. I do have one issue however. Unfortunately, Eclair doesn't have a patch in it that Froyo does. Specifically, this patch: https://review.source.android.com/#change,10576
Unfortunately, I need that patch to be able to connect my phone to my college's email systems. Can anyone give me some idea of how to get that patch and then use it on my phone til 2.2 is out? Or, if possible, could someone simply give me a file that I could just install using Clockwork?
I'd appreciate any help that you guys are willing to give. Thanks!
Hey, I couldn't connect to my college internet, but I flashed eugene froyo rom and now everything works perfect. I've also flashed it on a friends vibrant who couldn't connect before and now it works perfect.

By the way, there is a clock work image you can download for froyo and it only take maybe 10 minutes to install and reboot.
Edit: go to samsung vibrant development sub forum and find eugene froyo rom r2. Just download the recovery image and read all the instructions.

Got distracted the past few days by classes and am just now getting the chance to come back to this.
Anyway, I don't want to flash another ROM. I'm quite happy, for the most part, with Bionix Fusion. The problem is, again, that patch. I'm so used to having my school email on my phone (just switched from a Blackberry) that I forgot to check it and nearly missed some important emails.
I'll consider switching ROMs if I must (though, I didn't see that ROM you mentioned crazy25000. Perhaps you meant R1?), but I'd prefer to just get a patch that I can flash via clockwork.
So, can anyone else help me out here? I'd really appreciate it.
Hey all,
So I flashed the Evo(Shift)Nonsense ROM and I love it so far except that I can't get rid of the damn mandatory update for voicemail. I'm just curious if anyone has been able to fix this. I've been searching teh interwebs for a while and found various things to flash, but nothing seems to have stuck yet...would appreciate any help to be found.

You just need to download the newest version; however, even trying to get that on the stock ROM provides no proper upgrade.
Anyone have the newest APK?

You can't get it to upgrade? I had issues til I went from wireless to have it search for upgrade then had to go back to 3g for it to d/l and install..I have no idea why I couldn't look for an upgrade w/o wifi and no idea why it would only d/l on 3g but it works..

It's only been happening with me on this ROM, never had a problem when I tried out Evervolv. I finally figured out that you also need something like sprint_app_updater.apk, which is also in the app folder and I pulled from a nandroid, but it still won't. It downloads the upgrade fine, but then can't install it, which I suppose is one step better than the "general failure" I was getting before.
Solved!
Hey, so I at least fixed my particular problem, hopefully it can work for other people. I took Sprint_App_Updater.apk from an older nandroid and then had to push it via adb into /system/app. After a reboot the app updated all correctly.

Bizarre, you're right. Turning off WiFi and just using 3G works fine. Thanks dude.
hello im wondering if there is a way to root the atrix 4g 2.3.4 without a computer. I have tried other sites but they dont give me the right solution so if and of you can it would be great.
I don't think so. I think I read somewhere they got a "1-click" method working but it still requires a computer.

EDIT:
This is what I read. Can anyone confirm this?
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/08/25/droid3-1-click-easy-root-already-released/
To my knowledge, there is no un-tethered root program. You have to be able to remote access the phone's internal memory.
You can easily root your ATRIX running Gingerbread, but without out a computer is tough.

If you dont have CWM - no.
If you have CWM - there's a CWM root file somewhere around the forums, it worked for me
