Hi there,
Since I upgraded to the new rogers firmware every time I press the power button to lock the phone, and then press the home key, the backlight would not turn off. This is getting to be a problem as I press the center key accidentally when in my pocket. Anybody else have this problem with their new firmware?

Had the same problem but after I restart the phone it's fine now, give that a try, otherwise try to reflash again
Yup, same problem here...
Silly thing is, I was having the opposite problem beforehand - the screen was turning off too quickly so that I'd get into the unlock pattern, and it would turn off before I'd finished... duh...??
Oh well, let's try a reboot!
mine works fine on UK generic.
You don't happen to be running an Auto Task Killer do you?!

Hi All, I needs some help!
I have a Vodafone HTC Magic, all working fine until this morning when it has decided that it does not want to lock the screen.
I have it all set to require a pattern to unlock but this morning I have come to use it and noticed it didn't ask for the pattern.
I checked the settings and they were not set to require a pattern, no idea what changed it? Anyway I set them again but despite this everytime I lock the phone now (basically just by pressing the end call button) any button will bring it back to life and it is not asking for the pattern so everytime it's in my pocket and a button gets pressed the phone comes on!
I haven't installed any new apps and have tried turning it off and taking out the battery but the screen locking just wont work.
EDIT: Also noticed that the home button doesn't do anything now either!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Replying to myself but thought I'd let anyone who was interested know that I sorted it. Not altogether happy though because it required a full factory reset!
Is my phone running Android or Windows??????
Hi all,
I'm using Energy ROM with Cookie Home Tab, currently this one: Energy.BLACKSTONE.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.Classic.DinikGlass.Oct.08. I have tried several versions, but lock screen behavior is still the same...
When I put my device into standby mode, it goes locked automatically, that's what I want. But when I turn it on I want the unlock button to respond promptly, without any delay. It is working correctly after flashing my device, but after first restart I'm not able to use unlock button immediately and I need to wait a little bit (1 or 2 seconds) and then slide the button to unlock the device.
Has anybody discovered the same behavior? How to fix this and use unlock button immediately after the display goes on?
Thanks,
Vladino
Edit: I'm sorry, I just woke up and missed the thread where it is solved: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587931
I went to check something on my galaxy s but it wasn't responding. I tried holding the power button and tried to get it into recovery and download mode but nothing happened.
I then removed the battery and put it back in and it turned on as normal.

Known sleep-to-death problem. It happens on all ROMs I have tried on my phone. Happens more after a phone call. I was recently on holydays on another country and turned phone off, to use the SGS as a GPS navigation device only and I could suspend and resume it and use the GPS all day and it does not hang.
Just make a call, let it go to sleep and it may not wake up when you press the home or power button.
You don't have to remove the battery, just press the power button 10 seconds, phone will reboot.
I didn't make a call though. I was just on facebook then went back to the homescreen and locked my phone using lock screen widget which I have been using for months without a problem. A minute later I went to unlock it and it wouldn't respond. I tried holding the power button for atleast 8 seconds n nothing.

Pile of ****. Does NOT happen on all roms. It may happen on all roms you flash. More likely a problem with your phone, or user error.
Post the roms and your route to flashing, and then we will be able to advise.

After the Mango Update my Optimus 7 wakes up everytime i press the home button. This also happens in my pocket or phonesleeve because the button sticks out. So the screen is all day long on and drains battery like hell....
Is it possible by, for example, a register hack to disable this? so that my screen stays of and only be activated by the button on top.... and saves my battery?
I would like to know this also....
Anybody??
My phone never activated in my pocket because this button controlled by the light sensor
You're right.... 8-0
I never noticed this, because when I get the phone out of my pocket it is always on (I inadvertently press this button when getting it out of my pocket). As I understand now it is switching on at that moment... I want to switch off this button because of the spontaneous rebooting problem of the phone. This was introduced on my phone after updating to mango (7720). I must say, since updating to 8107 this has not reoccurred.
As long as this problem does not reoccur I don't really need to switch off the windows button as a 'on' switch.
Mine doesnt reboot on itself. But it eats battery as i wear it in my pocket all day.... and that sucks...

You may try to put your finger on the light sensor and try to press the home button .If this activate the phone is wrong .
Cool dude,.... didnt know that! it works as it should be. When i cover the sensor en press the home button the screen stays "of". I will try and find out if this helps when its in the phonepouch or pocket....
Maybe when i dissable the sensor in settings, that will help to...
Keep u posted

Hey everyone,
I got a nexus 2 days ago and I love the phone! But theres this annoying problem when the screen is off. When I come to turn it on by the power button it wont turn on at all I know the phone is running but whenever i press the button to turn the screen on it wont come on at all I have to keep pressing the power button numerous of times to get it working and I can feel the phone vibrating when i keep pressing the power button so I obviously know that the phone is working not shut down. Is there anyway to fix that because its quite annoying I got the phone just recently and there hasn't been any problems with it everything works great its just THAT problem I want to resolve.
Oh yeah this issue only occurs at random moments.
Thanks!
Try setting the fingerprint screen lock and see if scanning your fingerprint turns on the screen as a by pass. Not sure what could cause such issue hopefully just some faulty software.

It turns out it was a display problem. I returned the device back to the people who i bought it from and waiting to get a replacement.
