I scratched the paint off the side of my vibrant's bezel, leaving a large dark grey square with the silver bezel on the top left corner. Is their any paint that I can use to repaint over it? Any tips or advice?
Please search--there are MANY techniques to paint this phone.
Check accessories theres lots of stuff in there about painting
Still flashing
painting
Even the best repair will not be that good. you can totally repaint but if you do, you really need a hard paint like epoxy to handle the abuse, check the threads there are a bunch on this.

Does anyone know how to remove small scratches from our screen?
I made a very small scratch accidentally while I was removing the paint covering the ffc hole.
Also does anyone know exactly what type of black paint t-mobile used to paint the hole? If we can figure the color out anyone who needs to send their phone in for repairs can just paint it again and remove the camera.
Sooooo any thoughts?
nothing huh.. x.x
since the glass is actually a ceramic, I'd say you're going to be hard pressed to remove a scratch. I'm not sure though, but you might try a clear acrylic to fill the scratch. I don't know on the other part.
Clear acrylic won't fix the scratch because acrylic has a different refractive index than glass.
Your only options are to either polish the scratch (not likely), or learn to live with it.
There might be glass repair products out there, but I don't know of any
gotya, thanks.. do you believe it will make a big impact once i get the camera installed? like ruin the image.
you can try dry mustard and vinegar mixed together, apply and buff (attach a q-tip to a dremel)...

Doubtful, the scratch is going to be so close to the low resolution lens that I think you won't even be able to tell.
thanks you
Removing glass scratches
Removing glass scratches are tricky. I posted before how to polish plastic. The same is true with glass only there are no solvents that degrade glass so no worries there (couple of acids do but you can't buy).
Here is what you need to do :
1. Mask off EVERYTHING you do not want touched
2. then you can use a dremel with a small buffing wheel or puff ball (you can get @ home depot or Lowes... etc
3. I would use fine polishing compound and then High gloss compound (you can get from an auto body shop (the same for buffing out a newly painted car)
4. Be VERY careful not to heat up the surface or you can crack the glass.
Finally, this will take awhile (maybe as long as an hour) and if the scratch is deep it will warp the surface and make some of the display deformed looking so look at it carefully and decide if this is worth the effort.
The other crap on the market that are fillers, really do not work for small scratches like this. they are designed for larger blemishes, so the chances of these staying in place are slim to never
hope that helps
Not sure what kind of paint was originally over the camera opening but I imagine nail polish would be an effective (and cheap) substitute. With an amount so small would someone notice the difference?
I'm just going to wait and see if the camera can see clearly through it, and ill decide what do to after that.
Thank you (everyone) for all the help. I really appreciate it
My vibrant has fell out of my pocket at least 10 times... The good part is that only the chrome plate is scratched up...
I want to replace that plate and try to spray painting it a different color..maybe black.
If anyone made snt kind of cosmetic mods or knows where I can order that chrome piece feel free to post.. Thnx

There are threads on this. With that said the chrome is not a piece. I believe it is part of the plastic that holds the internals. One of the other threads has pics. If I think it's chrome paint. If I was to paint it I would CAREFULLY tape off scuff the chrome and apply any paint, primer etc with an airbrush. That would give me a comfortable level of control.
Tape, sand, paint.
Prep is KEY to a good finish.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say get a case and just cover it up. It's really not worth it to risk the phone for some scratches IMO. Also look around for full body skins maybe you'll find one you like, there are plenty of places that let you design your own.
I have been thinking for a while that i want to paint the front plastics from brown to black and was wondering the best way. If anyone has done or knows something about painting pstic with out fingers getting paint when done
ummmm...there was a guy on here that mentioned about polishing the bezel section and such on here because it was dropped. Turned out pretty good in the end, I would contact the OP on that thread about that.
As far as my experience goes, I had an Acura RSX that I painted the plastic headlights (the shiny inside part) black and various colors for other people and they turned out good. The key thing is to remove the old stuff off first before doing so. you are basically then starting with a fresh canvas. wear latex or nitrile gloves as well. use paint cleaner to really get all the oils and stuff off. a LIGHT coat of primer, and then light passes of paint make all the difference in the world.
Or is the rounding material before glass metal? Im starting to feel its metal instead of plastic?
You know what, it is metal, that's right. I remember that guy anodized his bezel.

Definitely metal. You can feel it especially while charging.
Maybe plastic dip. Google it.

I would like to share with you my experiment.
I'm really enjoying Samsung Galaxy S3 with Kitkat ROM and I'm really glad that developers from XDA forum keep this phone alive. Thank you all!
So I'm satisfied with inside of the phone, but I was not satisfied with the look of the phone. Especially plastic silver middle frame (bezel around the phone), which looks like metal (but really ONLY looks), turns me crazy, because silver painting starts to peel off. So I get idea to take all the paintings away. And here is the result
I just use sandpaper P600, paper tape for covering display glass and ethanol for final cleaning. I removed on/off button, volume buttons and battery cover and start to sanding it with sandpaper. It is important to be careful and don't be in a hurry. I recommend you to move with sandpaper along the phone because of the texture on the middle frame.
I hope that you like the result

I made that to my pebble blue s3, I scrapped it all with my nails, it was entertaining while I could.
Now that I have a white one i won't doubt, i'll do it when it start to peel, I like that panda looks in white/black. It could be even better with a black home button!!
Hello, even Samsung exchanged a new screen for me due to defective screen, within a few days I started seeing small dots in the edges between the glass screen and the silver edge. Is it due to some kind of oxidation or friction when I put the device in a bag? How to prevent such discoloration?
Can you post a screen shot?
Probably the same issues that plagues the bezel on the Note 3, as well as the S6's silver bezel around the camera. The silver colour is painted on, and it wears off fairly quickly, revealing the white plastic beneath.
What I always do is a solution us women have been using to keep our fake-silver rings looking silver for decades: blank nail polish. Simply apply a thin layer of blank nail polish on top of the bezel and it will erode much, much less. It acts as a protective layer.
To fix existing blemishes, you can use silver nail polish and a very, very thin brush.

Thanks. For the silver nail polish, is there a specific brand/model number or anything like that will do? If I want a pink bezel, I just get a pink nail polish?

Make sure it's a long-lasting one. Personally I always use L'oreal, but if that's not available in the right colour, Max Factor or Rimmel will do as well.
Yep, if you use pink, it'll turn pink. It's a coating, so you can use any you want. So if you don't like the silver and would prefer black, you get a black one. (those are available in gloss and matte)
We also do this to paint back covers, suitcases, keys, cables (to colourcode them), blemishes on shoes... I've used nail polish on pretty much everything.. except my nails!
The advantage of using Nail polish over dye is that you can simply wipe it off with acetone and a cotton swab if you don't like how it looks. (acetone is nail polish remover. You can usually find it within 3 meters of the nail polish stand in a pharmacy.)
Just to make sure that we are talking about the same issue, I am enclosing two photos.
It's funny what we OCD on . . I'm looking at that and thinking you're crazy but at the same time when I approach my car from the passenger side every day the first thing I look at is the ding in the door that my son put into it a year ago . . So while I personally wouldn't fret over this issue on my own tablet since I get full enjoyment out of it daily I feel your pain when you say it's an issue for you.
