What if you've already had it for sometime? Do we just turn our off and back on then do the procedure?
Awesome! This worked. Now I can sell my Tab on eBay after a full reset.
Would i be able to revert this procedure after "Bypass Activation"
...
does this bypass sim requirement (makes it disappear) or just have it in default condition??
my Samsung Gtab (both at&t and T-mobile) never needs activation.
Exactly what does this achieve?
I have a t-mobile sgt in which I canceled the data plan and am not using the sim card at all. I'm still able to access the device without any activations. Are there devices that are locked?

The only ones that I can think of are Sprint & Verizon because you need to be provisioned to be on their network.

Not working with Android 3.2
Hey guys,
The trick does not work anymore.
I have GT 10.1 with Android 3.2, latest verizon update. Unfortunately neither the volume, nor touching corners work.
Do you guys have any other idea how to bypass the sim activation?
Thanks!

leave it under tap water for 2 mins than take the battery out and put it back in. now you should be unlocked.
If it was your kid who did that and he was smart enough to put down the same lock pattern twice, he should be smart enough to tell you which pattern he used, right?
Just do all you you can to get into download mode and do a wipe. I don't know odin but I think that can help you? If you bring to t mobile they will just put it in download and wipe.

If you try entering the incorrect pattern five times you will see a screen where there will be a place to click for people who forgot their password. It will ask you to enter your gmail user name and password. then will ask you to set a new unlock pattern and you will be fine
Get into recovery and do a factory reset/wipe depending on the recovery you use, keep trying tell you get it to boot into recovery.
You dont need to factory reset my method works fine already tested

Hey Guys, I have the same problem. I have an unlocked T-mobile phone here in Ontario Canada so that I can use it on the Wind mobile network.
I can't rememeber the pattern or the phone won't accept my pattern, I have lost my mind. I tried many different times.
the phone does not ask me for gmail account after 5 times but keeps on waiting 30 secs after 5 tries and then lets me try againa and again and again.
I tried to reset the phone with holding the vol down and pushing the power button, but it only goes back to the pattern screen.
I can answer the phone when I call it but that is it.
Can some one please help me.
I also downloaded kies, but it wont connect since I cannot get into the settings of the phone to let the usb connect with kies.
hope you can help..
cheers.

Hey seriously does this work? I have a Vibrant and two other Android phones (ie three different unlock patterns). I took the requirement to do the unlock patern off on the vibrant for the last couple of months and when I thought of allowing it I realized I have been messing with the other two phones more and forgot the unlock pattern on the vibrant.
Currently my Vibrant is in use but I will like to be able to lock the screen now that my GPS and lag problems are much better fixed, but I do not want to wipe everything first. If this works I can enable the lock pattern and try different patterns till I get to this screen....but it has to be for real before I loose all my connections and presets etc on the phone.

If your phone does not get into recovery or download. Best thing to do is just bring it into samsung for warranty repairs or exchange. Samsung canada covers it now free of charge. That's what I had to do, nothing worked for my first i9000m to get into recovery/download.

I did not steal this phone I bought it. I just calle tech support in Canada, and they told me to call tech support in the US. The US tech support told me that to do a hard reset, I have to hold down the Vol up and Vol Down button and power button for 15 sec and then let go to get to a reboot screen. I tried and it did not work. Then I asked to send the phone in for repairs and they said that it was not in warranty since I used it in canada???? Now I am **** out of luck.
cheers.
THIS GUIDE WORKED ON USA T-MOBILE SAMSUNG VIBRANT BUT MAY VERY WELL WORK ON ALL SAMSUNG GALAXYS PHONES
After reading many XDA-Developers Forum Posts to try and figure out how to get into the Recovery Mode / Download Mode without any success, I gave T-Mobile Support a call.
After the usual noop run-down, "did you take the battery out" questions, I simply asked them how to get the Samsung Vibrant into recovery mode.
Unline the many tutorials that claim to require the Up or Down button pressed, along with the Home button then the Power, the true process is as follows:
1. Press the Up and the Down button at the same time (yes both). I too thought that button was a Toggle which only did either Up or Down, but found that in fact it does do both.
2. At the same time, press the power button.
3. As soon as the Samsung / Vibrant logo comes up on the screen, release the power button.
4. Release the Up and Down buttons.
5. PRESTO
Download Mode from Recovery Mode: Allows File Push through ADB
UPDATE
Once in Recovery Mode, to swith to what I believe is Download Mode, due to the fact that it now allows me to push files to the phone:
Click on the MENU Button from Recovery Mode.
You do relies the people with this download mode problem have hardware locked phones, rite?
Therefore they cant access recovery because the volume buttons dont work
I had a hardware locked vibrant and got to recovery the exaxt same way he described. Ill attest its true. Don't know about download mode though. Sounds interesting.

I can't get it to work. How long do you wait before releasing both volume buttons (step 4)?
You do realize that "hardware locked" means the volume buttons don't work ... right? Otherwise what do you think it means?

Then it wasn't a hardware locked Vibrant...
How do you know if your phone is hardware locked? Is the only impact that you can't get into recovery mode?
This technique has been around for a while and it simply does not work for hardware locked phones. There is no known way to get the HL phones into recovery from a power off.
ive tried this method many times on the 2 vibrants ive had over the past 2 weeks. hasnt worked. although i can get into download mode just fine.
Never mind wrong mode I was trying to describe
He used to think people don't know they should press both volume keys...
I dont think there is such a thing as "hardware locked" vibrants. I know people think they do have one but why would some be locked and others unlocked? It doesnt make any sense, the vibrant has only been out since July.

Whether they are defective or locked the fact of the matter is yea there is such thing, people are not imagining it.
Take me for example My first vibrant was fine...my jackass friend knocked it out of my hand and chipped very tiny piece of the fake chrome bezel. I only had for week so I returned and said it had issues.
I made sure I could access recovery with new phone before exchanging. They only had 2 left both with Sept date. Powered it up and no go, tried couple more time and still nothing...it was locked, we didn't even try 2nd one.
He ended up calling a friend at T-Mobile store in mall and had him look and see if he had any with the same date as the one i was returning "August ".
He had one and he had him test before i drove down....he did and he was able to access recovery, went down to mall and sure enough it was fine, able to get into recover first shot....so yes there is such think as "hardware locked" vibrants

I have flashed a vibrant with a i9000S software but the radio did not work quite well. Since the two have different keys, now i cant get it to boot mode. i was able to get into recovery mode via ADB but all i can do is use vol to go up or down and not select an option. the device wont even get out of recovery mode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Yes, some phones are locked. I had to get my Vibrant replaced, and was bitten by a different bug.
I went to my mom's and my niece locked my phone out by entering the wrong pattern incorrectly while it was charging (brand new phone, had to charge it... I typically don't use a pattern lock but since my first one was stolen....).
Now, the phone does not allow you to get into it using your Google Credentials.
Called T-Mobile and the woman said I'd have to send it in for a replacement because it's a "software glitch."
I asked her to try to factory reset it. She said her "researchers told her not to try it because it can brick the phone." We tried anyways.
Hold down both volume keys and power until the Vibrant logo comes up, then release.
Doesn't work. Hung up on her and went to a T-Mobile store. They tried for over 2 hours to factory reset this phone, and spend half the time on the phone with Tech Support to do it. You cannot access recovery mode on this phone. The other Vibrant here, that we checked, also cannot go into recovery mode. It boots straight up into the phone.
So:
1. Lots of Vibrants are unable to get into Recovery Mode/Download Mode
2. There is a bug in Android that will soft brick your phone if you or anyone enters the wrong pattern lock too many times - you will NOT be able to get back into your phone with your Google Credentials - at all. The phone will be useless.
Even though your phone can download emails from Google, and your sending them to yourself using the same login/password, you will not be able to authenticate your phone and unlock it.
Two pretty catastrophic faults, IMO.
When this next phone comes in (it will be brand new, like my first/second one - they're on backorder) - I'm immediately selling it, ETFing my account, and going to go phoneless (can use Google VOIP from a laptop/desktop over WiFi/Internet) and wait for a decent Win7 phone.
I doubt they will have such issues.
BTW, the Android bug I mentioned (not being able to unlock) has existed for 2+ years (since version 1.5 or before) and despite many people bricking their devices (and some devices being unable to hardware reset - like many Vibrants), Google has turned a blind eye to it, and keeps either closing the tickets or setting the priority to "medium" (Bluetooth functionality is critical, however - if you get my point).
For a long time i was under the impression that my phone was HW locked. i was on my last legs before sending out my phone for repair (im past the exchange date) so i called my carrier (Bell Mobility in Canada). They informed me i could do a restore through recovery mode -> to which i informed them that i could not enter after i had tried for 3 days previously. So the rep that i was speaking with advised me to do the following;
Turn phone off
Hold Vol+ & Menu & Power
Once screen displays Samsung release Power while still holding Menu & Vol+
Viola -> RECOVERY MODE
So, this got me thinking because if this got me into recovery mode -> download mode should be similar
Turn phone off
Hold Vol+ & Vol- & Menu & Power
Once screen displays Samsung release Power while still holding Menu & Vol+ & Vol-
Viola -> DOWNLOAD MODE
So, i thought my vibrant was hardware locked when infact it was simply just the wrong key combination to get into each respective mode. Not sure if i just wasnt reading some of the posts correctly or what but thats what worked for me.
That doesn't work on T-Mobile Vibrants.
The phone simply shows the Vibrant screen, then goes black and goes back to the Vibrant screen...
Over and over again. It can do it until the battery runs out. It will never get to the Galaxy S Screen as long as you have that Power Button down.
The only reason yours worked is cause your phone is not defective like many of ours.
I think I'm going to make a YouTube video of me using my Google Credentials (from a computer) to send myself emails while the phone syncs them in the background, yet refuses to allow me to use these credentials to unlock my phone - as well as rebooting to the Vibrant screen over and over again when I try to get into Recovery to reset it.
Because some people on this forum really like to act like problems don't exist, and tend to think their ignorance or operator error invalidates other posters' posts.
Congratulations on not having a defective device, though!
Looked it up and its real

hello,
so i got my tablet from rent a center as a loner since the one i got originally had the camera missing!!! This will clear all user data (and the screen lock)
1. Power it off completely.
2. Power it back on while holding the volume button (the one closest to the power button, might be the furthest away, if one doesnt work, try the other)
3. As soon as you feel it vibrate, toggle the rotation lock back and forth until it says "erasing user data..."

Hi, I just got an HTC MyTouch 3G which was on the Rogers network and is currently running android 1.5.
When I received it I factory reset from recovery and attempted to boot up with my Bell sim, a Telus sim, and my inactive Rogers sim from my w810i.. None of them can connect to any network (it finds Bell Ext. and a Telus network, and a rogers network). Due to the fact that this phone seems to not have wifi, I cannot even get past the Initial Setup page 1 to try anything.
So I just purchased an unlock code, and currently awaiting it.. Will this fix my problem? And how do I enter the unlock code from the setup page? Nothing pops up, as mentioned in "unlock code guides".
Thanks for any info.

So the phone is off, you put in your Bell SIM, turn the phone on and let it boot for a while, but it never asks you for an unlock code or anything?
You might have to clear user data. Turn the phone completely off. Then PRESS and HOLD the BACK button and the HOME button. Keep pressing those buttons and press the POWER button once, then release all of the buttons. The phone should power on an ask you if you want to clear data. Press the trackball to accept. Now try to boot up with your Bell SIM and see if it asks for an unlock code.
Let me know if that works.

Just being thorough It never hurts to reset again.
Have you tried the four corners method?
At the "Touch the Android" screen, instead of touching the android, you tap the top left corner of the screen, then top right, then bottom right, then bottom left, then touch the android. Some people say it works, some people say it doesn't, some people say it's a hoax... I don't know. But it can't hurt.
You can also try this adb method for older ROMs. Again, I've never used this method, so I can't vouch for it.
Let me know if you make any progress.
I bought a Lemfo lem7 smartwatch yday through aliexpress. During settings I switched the screen lock option and now cant unlock the screen doing whatsoever. I have rebooted by pressing the power button to no avail. Can anyone help? How can i do a factory reset as this watch has a single button?
About the same question
I got mine ordered at Banggood 2 days ago, and tested it's feature's without SIM card so far. Last test was company email configuration using exchange account setup. All worked out fine except the required pin-code unlock to start Andoid (after reboot watch).
After a while i got annoid to use the pincode input, and liked to get rid of the exchange account so i deleted this account in my LEM7.
But next reboot, i still got this pin code input screen but without onscreen keyboard !!
So the same question as topic starter, how to restore - do a factory reset with only one physical button ?
Or using the supplied smartwatch-dock with USB connection at Windows computer.
What procedure ? Software ? How to obtain factory ROM not having any backup ?
Next i will send Banggood.com service request.
thanks for any support , Hans
Yeah. Anybody knows please respind. How to do a factory reset with one physical button?
Have anybody found the solution to rsset LENFO LEM7 physically??
Go to proboards, maybe they can help http://roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/2252/lemfo-lem7-discussion-thread
Hello,
I guess you have to hold the power button in booting process. So long pressing power button for 10 second to reset watch and then during booting again long pressing power button. I guess then you will see new boot menu where will be HARD RESET option. This process is more or less same for all Android devices
Good luck,
Marek

And how would this fix a device what does not start Andriod before entering 4 numbers at the same device what does not shows a keyboard to enter these numbers ?
No, neither a solution.
Meanwhile i've returned my LEM7 to supplier Banggood, got my money including shipping costs refund. And have bought a THOR4 smartwatch instead. But i would not try to enable the security setting to input a pincode anymore neither at my current THOR4 device.
Another thing, experience of the passed weeks having a 'cheap' smartwatch with all it's features including 4G , most apps running on a small and round display and very tiny onscreen keyboard are hard to use. Or not even to install when required to tap at YES / NO the yes or no is not visible on the screen neither full round or squared display setting.
Using a 2 (micro) sim card of my provider, can only use one device (watch or smartphone) at the same time. Have to set one in airplane mode to use the other as a phone .
And have you ever entered a password at onscreen keyboard on 1.34" round display ? not easy done for shure i can say !
Do consider the smartwath as a nice gadget, practically spoken prefer to use smartphone or larger display sizes .
Best regards, Hans
