Thanks for posting this. I was looking through it and discovered how to only show existing contacts with facebook integration. It is under settings, applications, people, then you will see the option.

Yes! Thanks for the link and the post.
Thanks, I've added it to the wiki
If you have the "en" on your on-screen keyboard

and want to remove it.
Go to
Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Languages -> Remove check marks from everything except one language. (e.g. Check "English Only")
Definitely enjoyed the extra spacebar room, and did not get tired of accidentally turning my keyboard into French mode. Dunno how it is for AT&T customers, but if you'd like to add the "EN" button and the ability to change languages on the fly just do what I said in reverse (Check more than one language)

Hi,
Could someone tell me if there's a way to change/remove the icons from the today screen. I'm talking about the little butterfly, the house, the messenger icon and the envelope.
Thanks
Andrew
Did you steal your device or something ?
It's in the manual, but here you go...
Start > Settings > Today > Items tab
disable and re-order the Today Screen items there
No, I actually bought it. Actually it never crossed my mind to read the manual. Maybe it's a bad habit.
Thanks

I'm much the same, actually... I like to just sit down and poke at things (found the today screen settings that way, for example).. but manuals do sometimes have good information that you can't easily stumble upon otherwise.. so once I feel 'ok' with a device/piece of software, I read through the entire manual once, and highlight (or note down) the bits that are interesting and seem non-obvious.

only found it on my xperia - looks like your gunna have to buy it though - will try and download in a sec
IMO these are useless rubbish. One Panel for every language... Doesn't make sense at all.
I haven't seen an all in one translator, maybe because the interface would get too complicated?
Also, how often do you find yourself translating more than 1 language of a kind extensively?
It looks new to me
Came across w0lfs translater (in dev and hacking) - it's a client of 43kb and sends requests to Google's translator (which supports LOTS of languages).
Plus it's free, and you don't have to go through the slow change panels process to get to it.

On the other hand it is better to have a translator to a specific language that doesn't need data connection when abroad. In that case all you need is quick translation.
there on the main site now
Is there a better keyboard that I can keep from 1.6 to 2.1 ?
I've had an HTC and a Samsung and both let me select the old stand by 3x4 keyboard with predictive text.
I'm looking for that.
Ok I found a fix.
I wish I could take screen captures so this is the best I can do.

I used this package, created here on XDA by member http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2150306
I DL'd the RAR file
Unpacked it
I only used HTC_IME_hi.apk file and disregarded the clicker_APK
Bluetoothed it to my 2.1 X10A
Checked " unknown sources" under Applications/Settings
Astro walked me thru the rest in 3 seconds, Then installation took 4 seconds.
I know have the 3x4 phone pad keyboard I prefer.
Enjoy.
Oh predictive text is a billion times better as the suggested words are bubbles that you can click, there is also a "Check mark" in that row that will expand to all suggested words with "Add a word" button right there for you to use.
TOTAL WIN.
You must be able to install 3rd party apps as this is NOT available on the market.
Hi Guys,
I hate opening this thread but after doing search after search for 3 days straight now i was left with no choice.
I recently had to swipe out clean my SD card, I re installed everything again including my vesion of SWYPE which at one point in the past it had the Mic Icon funtion.
Now its not on my keyboard under the freash install. A while back I had ran into a webpage were it simply showed you how to added to the keyboard which depending on your software version it was hidden. it was something like Press Space, something, something and Viola!!!!
Does anyone know the settings to put the mic on my keyboard? I should have saved that webpage, but now am frying my brain digging endlessly online. Any help would be appreciated.
Fyi... This is my current Swype Version: swype_with_mic_english_only_2.4.44.10912.t100apk
Thanks
Latest swype includes the Mic "Swype WVGA 2.10.52.13753" do a google search to get it

I have found a little unconvenient thing on Android. Do you like to use virtual keyboard? I hate it. I'm blind writer on my laptop qwerty keyboard but the flat screen kb is minus 10 years.
The situation worst when you have to type words twice or more. Especially when you are searching something but you mess up one caracter.

In the search history you can see your previous (messed up) word but there is no possibility to edit them because when you click on it, your browser start to search it again.
On a desktop browser you can modify anithing in the borwser (or search) history list. Android should have this feature as well.
My theory solution is:
When you press and hold your tap on the search history item, the string moves to the search bar and you are able to modify it. And a simple click just search it just before.
Am I the only one who miss this?
I agree, I have this problem on market. Even if there is what you want on the search history with a small mistake or 2 words with no space, you cant edit it. Its realy annoing.
