Is there a stock 2.2/2.3 ROM that is compatible with the EVOs hardware? I want it as pure as possible, but at the same time have all of the hardware working.
2.3 - huh? 2.2? No -- CM6.1 RC1 is the closest and it wont support 4G / HDMI until 6.1.1.
Yea there is one in the android development forum. Called dev aosp rom. Its stock froyo with no custom modifications.

Please bare with me.
I just bought Wildfire White. It's on the way to me. It will have 2.1 pre-installed.
What should I do first?
- I want to have one of these custom ROMs (which one is best?)

I want it to be OC-able. I hear that I need custom kernel for that. Well what do I have to do to get custom kernel.
Is there some guide that will tell me all this?
I would not.reccomend the first one (cm7) since it is not even alpha
if you like htc sense go for the new wildpuzzle not the chinese one
if you dont like sense go for cm6 but make sure to flash the maps and market file as well
note thease files may break your device.rendering it useless. You are responsible for your actions. This will also void your warantee. If you dont want that to happen then use the 2.2 ota but you will not be able to root or flash a custom rom. If in doubt stay on 2.1

lol, Dont scare him.
Well, first and foremost, I would recommend you read this guide completely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
After that, when you have rooted your phone, you can decide on the Custom ROM yourself. They are broadly categorized into 2 categories : Sense ROMs and Non-Sense ROM's/ (Sense is the default HTC UI). Then, you have to decide whether you want a Sense ROM or one without it, and, go about it accordingly. (Generally, Non-Sense ROMs are faster, since Sense requires a lot of processing power)
As for CM7, even though it is Alpha, I would recommend you try it out. I am using it as a daily use ROM, and, its perfectly fine.
I'm currently using cm7 night release 0. I think. Its great. There are a few bugs but nothing. That effects the phone at user level.

cm7 is great!!! the nightlies work perfectly ;D, very good for what you call an 'alpha' release ahahaha, and why stay on eclair or froyo, when you can have some gingerbread action
Still i would rather wait for a beta or rc release

CM7 Nightly 0 is almost perfect, pretty much everything works
Its personal taste anyway im stuck whith hboot 1.01 and am now wanting to try cm7 fail on my part

first of all root your new toy
after that, you should play with your phone till you run-down.

Try CM7 nighty build, i rooted my phone this month itself and the first ROM i ever put was the CM7 ROM and trust me i havent even looked around for other Custom ROMs, its fast, looks very good and all apps work on em..
Cheers, btw dont forget to read Turkey's Guide to Rooting..
OC is not stable,even 4.1.。。
CM7 build 23
so yea i figured out everything im not big fan of alpha roms so ill stick to sense roms for a while. i will surely move on to cyanogen mod later
i'm using cm nightly build 21. working just fine.
there was an issue in 18 but 21 is just fine. i have tried out almost all of roms for wildfire, and i found CM 7 to b the best of all.
No... I'd recommend wildpuzzle v0.8 first to get comfortable with first since it has all the capabilities of overclocking is stable although not recommended to wildly over the 700mhz mark and everything else.
Gingerbread is a big and not stable yet a little complicated to setup.

i'm loving my wildpuzzle v.08,overclocked and super stable, i like sense too much
Cm 7 is very good I can confirm this. I am using build 16, everything works fine but I found it unstable overclocked over 700 on my wildfire.

Reminder dont update to official 2.2 (Froyo)
or u will not be able to flash any custom rom like me
happy with my A7 so far! Is anyone running 2.3 gingerbread on their A7? if so can you provide instructons on how to install.
No! We must get kernel sources from stream tv networks first! Without it we can't develop custom ROMs, only small modifycations over system image like Dexter did ( anyway he is great man

Android is the OS that runs on the Aria. CM is an Android Open Source ROM for the Aria and then you have the HTC Sense based ROMs.
So you have the choice of Liberated R012 which is Android 2.1; CM 6.1 and Liberated FR008 which are Android 2.2 and CM 7 which is Android 2.3.

All of the ROMs I mentioned with the exception of the Liberated R012 will wipe your phone and delete your stuff.
you can make backups of all your apps using app installer by gregory house or a similar program. doing this makes it easy to reinstall all of your apps after a data wipe.
as far as music/photos on your sd card, unless you made a separate partition with apps2sd, they should all stay intact.
Hey all,
I've been dying to have a fantastic essentially stock (real) gingerbread ROM for the G2. While the OTA update is pretty good, it still is missing a few key aspects of what gingerbread should be - blinking LED notifications, the CRT screen turning off effect, a bunch of other stuff. I just recently threw android onto my mother's HD2 Leo, and put this ROM on there. Stock, obviously rooted, with a bunch of awesome features that you can see in the link there. It is FANTASTIC. Probably the best ROM I have ever dealt with.
I guess what I am looking for is a Gingerbread AOSP stock that is currently on the Nexus One - (2.3.5 Gingerbread)
I would love to see a rom identical to this on the G2! Does anyone know of a rom available for the G2 like this?
Or, even better, would someone like to help me figure out how to port this ROM to the g2?
Cheers all
- D
You could try CyanogenMod 7.1-RC1, it has all the features you said you wanted. It does use ADW.launcher, but you can install the stock launcher by following the instructions here.
CM is actually pretty good - my issue is that the look, feel, and operation is nothing like stock gingerbread! I really want something like the stock AOSP Gingerbread Nexus One rom.
EDIT - Hey! One hundred posts!
Cm 7.1 isn't 2.3.5. U need to install the latest nightly. Have a new rom to install every morning is not only exciting, u get new features as they are implemented. What are u talking about CM not being like stock ginger? It IS aosp gingerbread. The true android with zero carrier additions or overlays. You must be confused as to what stock ginger is. Also, get rid of adw the second you install ginger. Adw is a piece of garbage that brings CM WAY down. First thing I always do is search gingerbread launcher in the market and install the real stock ginger launcher. Then your experience will be perfect

Ah - I think that adw launcher is what turned me off of it! I'll give it a go there.
Use the stock launcher, and CM7 is exactly what you want.

This. I've been running a stock GB launcher on CM7 for months now. Check the thread in my sig for it.
I used cyanogen's latest nightly (2.3.5) then xboarder56's converter. Works like a charm!
I have seen so many DEV in dev section has port CM7 based ROM, why?
- Are they hate bluetooth?

Ask them...
Why you opened up a thread for that?
Use pm and ask them directly.

Most roms are not made for galaxy y because of its chipset. Most roms are based on cm7 so u can only port it using a cm7 rom made for ur device. U can't port cm7 using your stock rom.

Just a guess have you used any ROM on CyanogenMod 7 AkA CM7 (any device)..I am sure you will know the difference if compared to using stock / based on 2.3.6
So these Developers and Porters are using CM7 as it is considered to be 'THE GREATEST CHALLENGE' Ever !! to get the ROM to be fully functional....:highfive:
Now pending for Bluetooth and the Video Acceleration Driver Etc which is now in WIP while waiting for BroadComm
The Force Will Be With All of Us !
this is because there is not any totally fully working rom one can consider as base for cm9 or cm10. but for cm7 there is... the same thing is also valid for my device u8110... for example none of the cm7 roms of my device has fm radio; since there is no official fm radio files for cm7!.. working on cm9 or cm10 without stock drivers or files is nosense...
