[Q] Frozen White HTC Screen of Death - EVO 4G General

Any ideas out there on why my Evo freezes anytime I want to update my ROM or flash a new one? Have to yank the battery out to wake it up again. Rooted, running Fresh 3.3.0.1., Froyo
Thanks

You are using clockworkmod recovery would be my guess...

The good news is that it allows you to recover from a battery pull.

Yes, that is correct. How should I prevent freezing up so I can upgrade to Fresh 3.4. or flash something new?
Thanks

[Q] EVO locks up after turning off 4G

Hi folks, having an interesting thing happen lately...whenever I turn OFF 4G, my phone locks up and I have to pull the battery. Running the latest Fresh ROM (3.5.1 I think) and it has been solid. What do you guys think...radio? Tried re-flashing my 4g radio and it still happens. Anyone know anything? Thanks in advance!
Maybe try wiping everything and reflash the rom.
The same thing happened to me on the latest sprint lovers. I ended up having to reflash but that really sucked.

its will be easier to help you if you put what your running besides just the ROM.. it might be the kernel in the rom. i know that the new NET BFS kernel has 4g issues. but the CFS one is fine with 4g.
try changing the kernel your using..

Going back to stock problem.

Hello guys. I'm having some issues with going back to stock. I had to Downgrade my phone and then install S-Off with the Easy_Radio_Tool v2_2. I then flashed Android Revolution ROM successfully. Later this evening I wanted to go back to stock so I recovered to the Stock 2.2. Now when I try to update, it downloads the 2.3 update and goes to installing. My phone reboots and just shows the ORANGE-BLUE screen nonstop. I've been waiting for some time and it just stays the same. What should I do?

I had the same exact problem but then i just ignored the stock rom and flashed a custom one.
Anyways this thread should help you to getting back to stock.

I've done the same. I've had enough jerking around and just flashed Android Revolution again. Then I flashed SuperRosie and wow...no more words. Way better than Stock.

well of course. Custom roms are tweaked to give users the best experience and i personally think that going to stock for nothing would be a waste of time + waste of your device capabilities.

Anybody want to try a possible fix or mitigation for random reboots?

UPDATE: don't need anyone testing this anymore as it is not fixing most reboots
Can someone who is running custom recovery and has bad/frequent reboots install the attached file and see if it alleviates your reboots?
Please let me know what version of the OS you are running and if you are on JSS15J or JSS15Q, whether you updated via factory image or OTA.
I am 99.99% sure nothing bad will happen to your system. This will not disable your ability to get OTAs, nor change any system files, nor affect touchscreen, nor affect GPS, ...
I'm running a version of cm which has worked better than stock but still a daily reboot. What is this file going to alter / Will it work on cm?

If it works, it should work ok with CM as long as you run it in TWRP.
It doesn't actually touch the ROM. It uses the kernel to reset the DDR3 memory timings and allows the system to retrain.
Thanks, I like to know what I'm flashing. Just flashed, will report back.

Could you tell me what OS you are running and whether you've run an OTA before?

I'm on 15Q odex stock ROM. I never had an ota before.
I rooted and unlocked the boot loader and flash this ROM yesterday.
Just had a reboot on mine as well.
Running build 8 of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391779
[ROM][CM10.2][4.3][CyanogenMod FLO Kangs][DJL10.2][LINARO][Build 8][2013/08/25]
Ok, then it looks like this won't fix the random reboots.
Sorry, back to your regularly schedule program.

im on clean rom with elemental x 1.2 and i have never had a reboot or anything bad happen since. i did have issues on stock 4.3 with small tweaks but since clean rom i have had no issues whatsoever
Edit also was on slim bean flo and had same issues so it's something messed up in the rom i would assume and not the software version it self

It takes some time for the CPU to exit deep sleep. Are you on the stock kernel?

Ok, so you are on the stock kernel. Usually, installing a custom ROM helps with response time, due to tweaks. Try reading this, maybe it helps you understand:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367406
Try to use custom kernels it should help not just for the waking up but also the over all response of the device. There are really good custom kernels out there, Matr1x, Franco, Hell's Core, AK, and so on.

Why not? What are you waiting for?
Lets be honest here guys he was unsure what a stock kernel is and does not want to replace his rom on a phone made to have its rom replaced. This is one you leave alone so he does not do any damage to his phone.
OP the best thing I can suggest at this moment that may help you is to factory reset your phone and start from scratch. Maybe some corrupt files from all the installing apps and deleting them. This is probably the only suggestion outside of rooting it and joining the rest of us in flashing rehab....

Well said. +1 on the factory reset.
OP, if you ever decide to root and flash don't use a toolkit. Read up on using fastboot to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. That will get you on the right path to fixing your phone quickly, should you ever run into an issue.
Possible and weird solution was the flip magnetic cover case i removed the magnet and the problem is fix for now
Thenks all till ill root

A501 Return To Stock

Hello All,
I am attempting to return my A501 to stock ICS from full rom package in the dev thread that is sticked.. Can anyone please tell me if it will remove the Skrilaz bootloader? if so will that break anything??? I currently have 4.4.2 Omni rom on it and it randomly restarts well, when ever it feels like it and i need it to work 85% of the time at least. Thanks In Advance.
When you get back to stock, you will loose your: data, ROM, recovery and bootloader as well. But then you would have a clean tablet that you can unlock again, and install your favourite ROM.

Its headed for stock and staying that way. I need it for work and all the custom roms either do not support the A501's Cell Data. or restart all the time. saddly I will just have to stick with a root and debloat

Try to take a look at Tegraowners.com, it seems that they have a working ROM for A501, give it a chance..

Gave it a try, it no longer randomly restarts but suffers from Sleep Of Death. So again I have a useless tablet. back to stock it goes and most likely for sale as i need newer versions of STABLE android. a device that i have keep awake 8 hours a day for fear it will not wake up is useless and no one is offering any ideas on the tegraowners
