Have to say, OMFGB is pretty slick.

This R2doesInc hangs with that JDKoreclipse guy, I wouldn't want anything contributed by that guy put on my phone, even if its not his ROM. Funny for a minute I thought that JDK was R2, but it seems R2 **might** actually have talent. Though when I look at his thread in his OP, it looked like he really didn't do **** for the OMGB or whatever. Looks like he just stuck together peoples work or what they gave him for the ROM, called it his own and made money on donations.
Funny they all must be little kids and think its cool to type like 7h15. Stupid teenagers. Lets call our site t3hh4xx0r ahahaha

I meant work people did for "his" ROM. Like all the credits for almost everything on the ROM goes to other people. Like they did the work for him and he compiled it together. I bet gmichaelow did most of the work on that project.

I have no Dev experience
I try different ROMs daily, from Cyanogen to Virus to ACS (Koni, Kings, thanks to you all) and back: I'm wondering if the best of these Dev's lifework couldn't be combined?
Here's what I'd love to see-
The performance of ACS meets the asthetics and tweakage of Cyanogen meets something entirely different from Sense (I like the Synergy v3.5 best, myself) and throw in free Mobile Hotspot for good measure.
Wish I had an input on Kernals and recoverys, just never studied up.
I can only hope a Dev stumbles upon this thread and cooks something up. All I can say is, as a Sprint employee, I know the phones. I'll help if I can, simply looking to get something started.

As a Sprint employee, you might want to be careful about what you post on here, specifically "free hotspot" and other things Sprint does not condone of it's employees.

You would be surprised at how involved Sprint is with people that post on forums, facebook, myspace, youtube, etc. I myself have been talked to by corporate security already.

I worked for t-mobile for 4 years in the past and I leaked pics, info all kinds of ish and I never got caught lol. I guess it depends on how you go about it. Of course when I did work for tmobile its not like they would find out dirkyd3rks's true identity anyways. I was just smart about it, always 1 step ahead.

Half my customers ask me to root their devices, most everyone within my company under 30 have rooted; people know about this stuff without even really knowing what goes into it. What can Sprint do to me when their are hundreds of YouTube vids posted showing how to root and which Rom is good, etc? These companies may be watching, but can't do a thing about it. Like Big Brother Lite haha

I got excellent battery life on VaelPak, and it's the first thing that came to mind when I read the OP. Performance is on par with with any other ROM and has all the customizability you could ask for.
On any of the more popular ROMs, battery life should be good unless an app is misbehaving or the kernel isn't playing nice (imho).

What can they do? Exactly what moto is... encrypt the boot loader.

Assuming your handle stems from personal experience and not some hypothetical situation, I would expect a more liberal approach to "following the rules" so to speak. If Sprint is too busy paying people to surf Xda for people like me "hypothetically" instead of pouring money into Clearwire and the WiMax network, then we can basically kiss nationwide 4G goodbye

His kernel thread was closed due to a lack of source being provided, in order to keep the site compliant with the law. Some jerk took that to mean he was banned or punished or in some way unwelcome at XDA, which is false. The OP deserves a nice temp ban for having such a glaring attitude towards the administrators here at XDA who are doing their best to keep this site running. But, for someone with one post, I can't see that doing any good. Best to just ignore the troll till the admins remove this thread.

That actually seems reasonably fair... Everyone is angry at Acer for doing that, I don't see why Thor should be held to a different standard. Having said that, his kernel was great... I hope he comes back and plays according to the rules.
With any luck this was all a big misunderstanding, and he just hadn't started a GIT yet but was about to, or something like that.

As I say, let's just hope this was all a big misunderstanding. Thor was asked for his source a few times in that thread, and he never responded to those requests publicly. I don't know what happened behind the scenes though, as you say. Perhaps a mod can clarify?

Of course they would... They ban all the best devs over stupid $h*t. Android is "open source" but now we say he was banned for not including source? Thanks conan keep up the great work...

This isn't anything new even here on XDA, and as far as being legally compliant, show us the cease and desist order, please. In any event that's no cause to get a poster banned and XDA had plenty of occurrences on significantly less open platforms where they didn't ban the poster, but locked the content due to C&Ds.
Thor did significant amounts of work here to get us what we want. Acer and pretty much 100% of corporate industries are limited to what they can do or say because of much greater liability of what they produce. One user/fan/coder posting here not so much liability as none of it is anywhere near official.

This is crazy about one month ago we didn't have recovery, Then Thor arrived and fixed that he is very important to the development of the a 500, Lets hope this is temporary, Without devs like Thor we get nowhere on our devices, I have seen in the past when devs have fights with mods the devs leave for good. Its almost like they get jealous of the work they do.

That's from the official Cyanogenmod site, which has no affiliation with the development of CM7 for the Atrix.

Yeah, but the current team is responsible for making the atrix compatible with cm7 (thus, they're doing most of the work). Once that's done, they'll be giving it to the official team so they can support it.

I'm pretty sure the dev team has said all they need to do is get the fingerprint scanner and webtop working then they can submit it to cyanogen mod to try and get official status, since before cyanogen will accept any port it must not break any functionality that the stock rom had

Exactly why this is such an ambitious effort. Some people might not have the fortitude (or the patience!) for this phone's technology to be fully realized. For me, I'm kind of excited to own such a unique device and hope the developers aren't discouraged by such a challenge.

This is probably a huge factor along with the massive number of idiots who fail to read directions properly and end up with bootloops and blame the dev's for making faulty software.

I installed CM7 on my Atrix and now it's running too fast. I can't keep up with it. Also the benchmark scores are too high, and the battery lasts too long. Plz fix.

I think a lot of the trolls here are just ungrateful...they constantly complaining about things not work like they want them to work and they are constantly bugging the devs about when when when! These same trolls do not take a mere breath to stop and say thank you to the devs that work hard for free. No one has EVER promised them anything, but they complain like it is the devs duty to please them. Somedays I wish I were back in the Aria forum because the community was very helpful and the devs felt welcomed.

A troll is someone who posts inflammatory extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
ie the very people you are complaining about are not, in fact, trying to provoke people, but rather are just uninformed people asking for help. In fact, you are the one closer to a troll then they are since you keep insulting them instead of directing them to the right answer, potentially provoking them into an outlash of anger.

Sadly I don't think they'll be having Webtop on Cyanogenmod. Last I heard it was too much work.

if cm7 allowed me to play my movies from my phone on tv when i am away from home i would be on it like a fat kid on a smartie!

We dont sit here and update or post all day because its un needed, exhausting on its own, and frusterating to the point of cursing. I can once a week come to this thread and after going through 20+ pages find maybe one thing worth replying to, like this time and the gentleman that requested a few pages back that i call this kang and not official ?!? Why because we have waited till we deemed ready to merge ? Everything we released has been stable and useable i have not touched another rom in months, we will merge shortly, it will be up todate 2.3.7 or what ever uptodate is than. We are all running 2.3.7 curently , there has not been another release because IOO there has not been enough added fixes that we felt the need to do so yet. Mostly we have been waiting on FP. I have it working 100% fine actually better than stock, but it haz created a bug with calls when enabled for an unknown reason. I have been working on the same bug for over 2 weeks . Once again iwasted more time i could have spent on the bug to reply to those of you that felt i needed to "give updates" to a 170 page hell hole where no one reads in the first place Anyhow we appreciate your all excited , so are we , mostly so we can stop working keep in mind we want itcompleted and working obiously more than you do so either relax and wait or keep yelling inhere like a jakaninny IDGAF, but i will post updates when i am ready as will the other team members. Using Thors now. Why is hardware accelaration not working? Its working in Blazingwolfs. Are these guys not working together/.

Just plugged in Thor's ROM and here are some things I noticed immediately:
No market
When I tried to sideload the market, it said I didn't have an SD card installed, which I do
Color variations, primarily green
Widgets show cell widgets (obviously not needed) as well as the cell '4 bars' in the notification area
Browser speed seemed very fast
Obviously a lot still to do, but a nice start by Thor. I have alpha 7 ICS on my phone and I'd love to stock ICS on the a500. Not really into all the 'bells and whistles' that some devs like to do.

Wouldn't anyone else agree that working on 2 separate ICS builds is a bit counter-intuitive? It shouldn't be a competition to see who has the bigger you-know-what... Why not work together on a single ICS ROM. Put everyone's brain power together to release a single stable build. We've got hardware acceleration working on one, wifi on the other. Vice versa is still broken... It makes sense - just mash them together with what works! I understand it's "a little more difficult than that" but I'm sure there's a way to work together rather than go head-to-head.
Just my 2 cents. I'd contribute to the effort if I could, but this is the best I can say... Good luck devs!

Why do you think this thread exists? If you'd read the threads in there, you'd know THIS one was made to keep inane chatter out of the dev threads.

Wooaahh. Slow down cowboy lol. That was in response to people saying Thor doesn't play well with other devs when he has a thread open so people could help get ics for the Iconia.

yep.....the thread that he just had closed.....
I totally appreciate the work of all the Devs here....but dude just comes across as a douche....like those guys who make all A's in college and look down on ppl just because he makes good grades and then turns around and refuses to help his classmates........

I just personally don't understand the motives.... I thought that this was supposed to be a "community"?

well I tried the open way just now... all the source was open but some douche reported my thread... since I had enough of a headache from working on ICS and from the first time I tried to convince the "mods" of anything... I have no "duty" call towards xda
so now I'm now back to "private dev mode"
And the douche who sent the report can be happy now... thinking he "won" something

Thank you for that. I understand that. But we all have a personal "duty" to each other here. I'm finally taking classes so that I can be helpful here. I dont feel like its my duty. But to be a productive member. I have to.

If I were Thor I would have had the thread closed down aswell. People just don't listen. 1st post in the thread stated if you don't have anything to contribute, do not post, commenting is not contributing.. I read alot of nonsense. I don't need to test an alpha.. Wtf.. Thor will get it figured out.. lovin the v14.2, so I can wait..

Any chance we could get milestone updates as you make progress? (even if its on your own site with comments disabled. By the way your site has got to be the most innovative I have seen the way it scales to the device) By the way what did you get reported for? The fact you didnt want random comments in the thread? I cant see anything wrong with your request to keeping the thread to development only.

What was it reported for? I was thrilled you'd gone back to the gpl-compliant route, I was looking forward to being able to use your work. Don't let an individual dissuade you from the open thing.
