I have recently rooted and installed CM7 RC1 on my MyTouch 4G everything seemed to be going well for the first about 30 mins i got gapps installed (manually btw) but suddenly after the phone started to install apps from the android marketplace i can no longer long press on the home screen nor can i move widgets i can still feel the haptic feedback but no response.
Sounds like a bad install, reinstall clear all user data, cache, dalvik-cache and fix permissions before booting back up.

Thanks ill try that right now and come back with any other issues. That presist after re-install.
Also wanted to state that for installing Gapps i had to do it the Manual way if that matters or if anybody is having trouble installing them.

Manual as in flashing the zip file, we all had to do that.

No i mean instead of having RomManager do it i did it manually in recovery.
Yeah, that's what I meant. I never do anything important like that in rom manager, always boot into recovery.

i had that same problem and it was a simple fix on my part. i actually had accidently hit lock desktop under the more menu on the desktop screen. u can long press and nothing happens or cant move widgets while the desktop is locked. try seeing under the desktop menu if it is locked if so unlock it and that should work. hope this helps some
My Gmail is taking 10-20 mins to sync. I have tried 3 reboots and nothing.
The sync icon is in the status bar, but not spinning. Any ideas?

Do a factory reset

When I get to the ! icon and the Android guy, the search key doesn't pull up the context menu.
Awesome. I did the factory reset through the phone... I still can't get into bootloader mode, and I have noo internet connection. No 3G or 1x.

To get into bootloader mode hold both volume buttons and power...To get into stock recovery hold power +home key and when you see the android guy press the volume keys.

LOL, yeah took me a minute to figure out the new key combos when I did a wipe after flashing to GB a week or two ago.
Using root explorer rename the file BlurContactsSync.apk to BlurContactsSync.apk.bak
This will remove the sync icon. No need to wipe. It's a redundant file that does what Google sync does natively.

I did the hard reset. The phone is crashing nonstop. Freezes for sometimes 4+ minutes and then reboots.
I am using Launcher Pro. I'm going to try to ditch it and see if that helps.
Thanks for the info on the new button config. to get into that mode to instal GB I used the search key.
I installed the rooted version of 2.3.3 on mine, I had a similar problem. All I done was factory reset, wipe cache, and wiped dalvik cache. That fixed it. This was all done by using droid 2 bootstrap program, not stock recovery.

Is it better to use the Droid2 bootstrap program or the Droid X bootstrap program on the DroidX?

Use the Droid 2 bootstrapper because it gives a newer version of clockworkmod recovery
At this point, install instructions almost always dictate which bootstrapper to use X vs. 2, but currently we are using Droid2 on GB because its a newer version. There are people saying once GB is flashed you can use Dx, but.... why not just use D2... heres the thread.
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/g...rapper-gingerbread-4-5-588-clarification.html
I believe the persistent sync icon was avoidable by wiping data before flashing GB as stated in the pre-release thread, but if the contacts thing fixes it...

The sync icon replaced the debugg with usb icon. The site isn't loading fast, sorry if someone else has stated this.
constant snyc you didnt wipe data and cache...
use droid 2 bootstrapper
fix problem, just go in wipe data and cache and reflash
I just froze contact sync 2.3.3 in titanium backup which got rid of the icon for me

This worked perfectly. I did the data reset and cleared all of the cache and it was still there.

You would need to use Root Explorer to change it. Make sure you mount the folder as R/W.
The easy way is to:
1. Go into "Settings"
2. Go into "Applications"
3. Select "Manage Applications"
4. Select "All"
5. Find the following and clear the data and cache.
"Contacts Sync". "Google Contacts Sync", "Google Calendar Sync",
This did it for me.
Hi there, I got my Transformer about a week ago and the Powerbutton was somehow not ok, it took some power to lock/unlock screen etc yet i didnt really care. now it wont function at all (to turn it of i had to push it against a damn wall).
So i understand its a problem with the button and not the software and I want to go and replace it, problem is that two days ago i flashed modaco's rom. is there any way to return to STOCK WITH the broken powerbutton? how can i go to recovery in that case anyways?
also, maybe i can remap the button to "both volume buttons pressed" or something of the sort?
thanks in advance!
Connect to pc/mac with the android sdk install. Send these commands to it.
Adb reboot recovery
Or
Adb reboot.... It will reboot hold down volume button and it should go into recovery.

I see, now remains the problem of how to flash it to stock firmware.
I think you can put the stock update zip on the root of your sd card and flash it in recovery.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
But the problem is when choosing what to do in recovery mode. The choice is made by pressing the power button.
When you reboot into honeycomb with the update on the root of the card you should get a notification of a system update. Try that.

Are you sure it safe to just apply an update on a custom ROM? I don't wont it completely bricked.
Oh your rooted. Didn't know that. Kinda don't know now.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Flash the attachment, reboot your device. This will give you stock recovery
Next you need to download one of the FOTA update (any version will do) from ASUS's site and rename it EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and put it in the root of your MicroSD. Now you need to boot into recovery and press volume up within 5 seconds so it'll flash the recovery ROM.
So I just flashed villainrom 2.0 with ninphetamine and KG1 modem. This is my first custom rom and iam completely new to androids.
The issue is when I press and hold power for my power menu the phone tends to lock up a half a second. Launcherpro then asks if iI want to force close it...I press wait and then my phone soft reboots. Now I have some vrtweaks and one of them sounds like maybe this is design rather than a issue... could anyone shed any light?
Other than this I am loving this phone and my god this rom and kernal is quick compared stock.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I rebooted in between installing my vrtweaks packages at the apps 'strong recomendation' I think I stuffed it causing power menu to fail... how do I fix this can I remove or reinstall?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Damn found problem first package of 3 didn't install now when I try says downloading and after 2 mins villain rom tweaks closes and it's not iinstalled!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Edit: OK guys a random soft reboot and presto my power menu lives...
Im scared I will have bugs due to what's happened should I reinstall rom?
Thats typical of an install of a theme that has corrupted the advanced power menu .
Yes i would reinstall .

I just recently acquired a Droid X and the camera button doesn't work. I managed to get it stock rooted but I cannot flash custom roms since the cmr uses the camera button to select options. The Droid Eris had track ball problems so someone modded the recovery so the volume keys would scroll and the home key would confirm the selection. Can someone help?

Easiest thing you can do is check and see if your phone still has a motorola warranty. If it does you can send it to them and they will repair it for free.
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the device is out of warranty. I had this similar problem with my Eris an a gracious developer had helped everyone that had a defective device.

are you in GB?
and if your just going to do backups and recovery
i think you can do them directly from ClockWorkMod's app
all you need is root
I'm on Gingerbread rooted stock. I have rom manager installed, clockwork mod recovery, and bootstrap 2 installed. When I tried to install rom from SD card from rom manager it went to recovery.

Same situation here.
I'm a noob so I can't post links yet, but googling BOARD_HAS_NO_SELECT_BUTTON clockwork recovery samsung pulls up a link to a rootzwiki.com post by koush suggesting what's required during the compilation of clockwork recovery to accomplish this (define BOARD_HAS_NO_SELECT_BUTTON as true.)
Where can one find an android developer type to create such a custom build for Droid X? I'll pay a small bounty.
Thanks for any pointers.
In CWM recovery just scroll through the options 3 times (keep clicking up or down volume) and it will say something about "Go Back Enabled" then you can use the power button to select.

Thank you! Now I feel like a real n00b for not finding out about that feature in any my searches.
Booted into CWM recovery and tried it out. Sure enough, after three rounds in either direction, I get the message "Back menu button enabled." But I still can't select menu items. Here's what the Droid X buttons do (after "Back menu button enabled" appears):
* Menu, Home, Power: Toggles to blank (black) screen and back
* Back, Search: No action
CWM Recovery version v2.5.0.6
I tried this and it did not work for me. Did this work for anyone else?
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
Check the last line of my post ;-) after you get the back button enabled message you use the power button to select, you no longer use the back button instead there's now an option to "go back" at the end of each list.

Thanks for your infinite patience with a n00b, but after the "Back menu button enabled" message appears I still cannot select with any of the buttons (including power), and no additional menu options appear (see attached screenshot.) Pressing power button blanks the screen.
Are we discussing different versions? Mine is v2.5.0.6, installed via Droid X Bootstrapper app from the app store.
No Recovery Luck Yet
I still cannot get this to work either....
Sorry, that may be our problem. I'm using 5.0.2.0 installed with MIUI 1.12.30.

Within rom manager download the latest recovery. Reboot into the old version and then choose to flash zip from sdcard. Navigate to clockworkmod download/download.clockwork.com/recoveries and then choose v5 blah blah. This should get you to newest one in that session and you can try the method above

Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
You can try this thread RZrecovery Try flashing the zip when your booted into your current ROM.
I have not tried this recovery. I wonder if this recovery uses the power button to make selections in recovery. Getting into cmr is not the problem. The problem is making selections in recovery because the camera button doesn't work.
