Power button failure - Galaxy S II General

So I just flashed villainrom 2.0 with ninphetamine and KG1 modem. This is my first custom rom and iam completely new to androids.
The issue is when I press and hold power for my power menu the phone tends to lock up a half a second. Launcherpro then asks if iI want to force close it...I press wait and then my phone soft reboots. Now I have some vrtweaks and one of them sounds like maybe this is design rather than a issue... could anyone shed any light?
Other than this I am loving this phone and my god this rom and kernal is quick compared stock.

I rebooted in between installing my vrtweaks packages at the apps 'strong recomendation' I think I stuffed it causing power menu to fail... how do I fix this can I remove or reinstall?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Damn found problem first package of 3 didn't install now when I try says downloading and after 2 mins villain rom tweaks closes and it's not iinstalled!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Edit: OK guys a random soft reboot and presto my power menu lives...
Im scared I will have bugs due to what's happened should I reinstall rom?

Thats typical of an install of a theme that has corrupted the advanced power menu .
Yes i would reinstall .

i tried to install on my galaxy note gt-n7000 a costume rom and it simply crashed the modem was deleted and its loading only the rom manager i mean the one that's load with power button and volume button what can i do ?????????????
If you can get into download mode (volume down power home), enter it, download a stock ROM, download PC Odin and flash it. Search for Dr ketan's thread..

Sorry to say this, but it sounds like you should never even have tried to flash a custom ROM...
Try contacting the store where you bought the phone, perhaps they can fix it for you
In the future, stick to a stock ROM or READ before you do something stupid again!

Dude, give us more info. What version were you on? What did you flash?

Whatever happened to just helping someone out instead of making stupid remarks about burgers and how he never should've flashed in the first place?
@TS >>> You can probably still get in Download mode. Turn off the phone, hold the power button + home button + volume down button and hold those untill you see the Samsung logo appear. Release all buttons and you'll enter Download mode.
You can then use PC Odin to flash a stock rom and if you want root it and flash a CWM enabled kernel like the Abyss kernel. There are a number of guides in the Developers section so just go there, take your time reading about flashing and you should be good to go.
Dont panic, rule number one. Bad for your blood pressure.
Just take a deep breath and start over. Go to development section and read stickies. Then start by following regular procedure in dr Ketans thread. All will be well, just dont wipe or factory reset.
Best to go first to Gingerbread, then if you have bootloop wipe/ factory reset.
Best also to do the procedure with pitfile.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I would leave a pit file as a very last resort. If you can enter download mode its likely you're just soft bricked.
Plus I don't think rom manager supports the note yet... better to use PC Odin and then mobile Odin for upgrades/custom roms.

What is Safe Mode On x5?

My mobile often gets "force close " issue.Does anyone get the same. Also sometimes my mobile goes into safe mode allowing only system apps.
Any help?
hi. i dont about force close, it might happen from low ram or conflict stuff... if you press home or back button or one of the other soft keys long enough or repeadetly while booting, phone goes into safe mode. if it happens without doing any of these, you really should format your phone and install your firmware again or update to a better one.

Is there any bug on Evo-x4 causing random shutdowns(not reboots)? I'm really confused and I don't know what to do. My phone can shutdown by itself up to 10 times per day.
NOTE: I haven't applied any build.prop tweak.
And I have faced this problem every time I have flashed Evo-x4.
Any suggestion guys?

no there is no bug in the rom that cause this
it would more likely be the kernel you are using that is causing this - use a different kernel with the rom
Yeah... there's no problem with EVO . I have tries as well n didn face the shutdown problem. U better try some other kernel n if the problem persists, go for sm other Rom. U can get a good custom rom with no or minimum bugs !

like marcussmith2626 said its more likely a hardware button problem. i had this problem before.. even clean flash with odin the problem was there. observe your phone, try tilting, spinning.flipping and see if affect phone in any way. i solve mine by "roughing" up my power button (in my case this was the button givin problems) probabaly it was stuck or dust had built up... evo4 is awesome. there's no random reboot bug for me.

My friends SGY also having this problem when it was with Evo 4.2 with Percy kernel and power button also stopped responding
Then I tried pressing volume + home + power button while it was rebooting and it booted to recovery so I wiped both cache and data and rebooted but my rebooting issue was not resolved
There after I tried many times pressing combination buttons and to my surprise it was booting to recovery or download mode depending on volume key I used
It was indication that power button was working but after rebooting it was not working.
Now I flashed stock firmware and rebooting issue is resolved but still power button is not responding after reboot but it is allowing mobile to come to recovery or download mode
Is it a hardware issue which I doubt because it is responding before booting
Or what else can cause it and any suggestions for this

With update GPS works again
After I flashed the update my GPS works again. Lost it a few days ago for unknown reason. Tried everything. Even ODIN back to stock- still no GPS. Tried everything else I could read in XDA as well. Nothing worked.
But after flashing the latest update my GPS is working again. Awesome. No other issues that I have come across.

In most cases you can just dirty flash it, i.e. don't do any wipes. Make a nandroid backup first of course.

Getting Samsung screen, starting apps, then back to Samsung screen. Any solutions? (ROM slot 1 safestrap 3.75)
Has anyone else tried the pin lock?
I moved from maple leaf and now on a fresh boot, the pin lock is not enabled so you can just swipe to unlock. If after a boot you wait a bit for the screen to time out, then the pin lock is enabled. Before the first screen timeout, the power button does not lock the screen either.
Thanks for all your hardwork devs.

Long press back to kill apps is not working for me and the screen capture by palm motion is not working either.
Is any one having the same problem or just me?
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Hi, I did it to work the long back kill button... on GF 4.1
Works for me the option to kill apps featuring wanam, I added the option to hold the back button to kill apps but this works with the menu button and not the back button...
Ok when we pressing the menu button the Super User ask me to accept a premise [Android System UID] but we will not be acceptable, since we cannot stop the countdown and we ended up giving the Super User...
As we turn to try and hold the Menu button and when the Super User asks us to accept the premise [Android System UID] you do this, blocked the screen normally and unlocked again, but this will froze and we cannot access our phone, (Well, do not despair ...) the display will work again once the Super User countdown ends, we will not see it, but do not despair...
Once you can access your phone, will still ask for the Super User permission to accept [Android System UID] and time accept the permission.
And now we have running the menu button to kill our apps.
I hope you can understand my explanation because my English is not good... And I hope to help ... For me it works great, I have found this method to see the [Android system UID] does not let me guarantee the permission, and I did this so its works…
Good luck…
Stock S5 Power Button Menu
Hi,
I'm trying to get a stock S5 look (with all the S5 features) on my S4. This is one of few ROMs that I really like, but I'm trying to make the 'power button menu' or the 'reboot menu' to look stock.
Can someone help me with making the 'power button menu' look stock (or minimal)?
Without using xposed framework, maybe by replacing .apk or resource files somewhere in /system?
By stock, I mean without extra features like "Mobile Data Mode, Take Screenshot, Flashlight, etc"
I've attached photos to show what I'm trying to accomplish.
Is there a way to change the soft key actions?
When I try backing up the Rom, I get a error message saying cannot backup /data

How to run ROM on stock Touchwiz kernel?
I really like this ROM for the GS4, I just wish there were some things I could change on my phone!
(I'm using a t-mobile m919, on stock 4.4.2 NB4 bootloader)
It is possible, (and how) to run this ROM using stock Touchwiz m919/i9505 kernel and bootloader.
I've tried installing it using AT&T (safestrap) and no kernel flash, it runs but WiFi Cannot turn on.
I've tried installing it using m919 and no kernel flash, it gets stuck on boot animation.
It works using the two custom kernels, but it is possible to run this ROM on stock m919 or i9505 kernel?
(And has anyone figured out how to make the "power button menu" look stock/minimal?
I feel like I'm going to accidentally hit "Data network mode," "Airplane mode," or "emergency mode" every time I try to mute the volume using the power button. I would like to get rid of those options if possible)
So i have been having some call issues.
Sometimes when someone calls or when I call we cannot hear anything on either lines.
Only way to fix this is restarting my phone.
