Found this out on my Nexus (running rooted froyo) earlier this evening.
Cool! I always found that this was missing.
my market doesn't have it

Are you running Froyo? What search term did you use?
Does this go away when you "fix" the market to show protected apps?
I've got it. I have applied the missing apps fix.
Saw this yesterday, haven't applied any fixes to my market (although never had any bugs).

Thank you. I'll apply the fix now without worry.
Look what is available now on Samsung:
GT-I9000_OpenSource_Froyo_update_JPM.zip
Looks like the rumors were true about a pending release. Hopefully we won't be far behind.
It is 174MB - not sure what is included yet.... still downloading.
EDIT:
It has the i9000 kernel and platform as 2 separate zipped tar files.
Good news! Thanks

JPM build on Samfirmwares.com today too - looks like the official build is out as well.
Keep fingers crossed for GPS fix!

More than GPS fix, I'd like this source recompiled for us with a reorient fix and voodoo. JI6 is good, but I miss my ext4.

Can't repeat this enough. Really looking for voodoo + BLN again.
I must be one of the lucky ones, JI6 has made my GPS Perfect, near instant locks, stays locked constantly... Navigator and Run Keeper are spot on.
It was terrible in all 2.1 releases.
Good find...looks like their servers are already bogged down with hit. Imagine the XDA will be slow today too. Can't wait for a re-oriented kernal and a Tayutama modded ROM. Whooohoooo!!

Been holding back on making a version for froyo untill official was released but when we also get the source code for JPM then it should be ok to work on a version.
I *MIGHT* work on porting one of Manup456's themes from nexus/desire/evo 4g to SGS with froyo
**EDIT**
LOL mindfrost just made it all better

Awesome, that is all I have been waiting for. Your theme has been my personal favorite so far.
I am new to this phone and the android OS.
This is just giving us the source code to build apps our own tweeks like Voodoo correct. There is not anouther 2.2 update for the phone correct? Just the one that was leaked a little over a week ago.

Holding my breath for this too
I just reinstalled Doc's Mod 0.2 Wipe Rom and it so happens that I now have a related tab when I click on an application. Seems like it is the gingerbread market.
Anyone else experienced this?
I can confirm that my market updated as well.

I was actually going to post about this. I am on stock JH2 Eclair firmware here in Canada and I had received the silent update from version 1701 (or something like that) to version 2007 which I understood was the Froyo Market and now when I look under Settings / Applications / Manage Apps / Market it says that the version number is 2002013... That is weird... Is this the Gingerbread Market version?
It is the same as the market in the gingerbread video. Looks like it is close, guys

Really? You think? We havent even gotten our official FroYo update here in Canada yet... Perhaps a good sign that we may see Gingerbread on the SGS?
New market design just appeared on my Legend

Fortunatly not
ogo2 has it in his desocialized ROM already and my custom version of BlaY0's B-01 runs it aswell. There are also several threads in the "Android General -> Apps" section where people distributed the apks for some days now.
Other then the new design the new market has a new limit for market refunds. Instead of 24 hours you now have only 15 minutes for a refund. More changes can be seen in these threads:

Incorrect. I've refund a defective application purchased with the 'new' market after 10 hours.

Really? Now that would be good news. Didnt try it myself since I don't want to refund anything but good if it is really possible to test the apps longer than 15 minutes.
Mine also got updated . Using rooted stock froyo

My android market got updated when i flashed rooted froyo rom. but when i returned to stock froyo rom it did not update. strange.
Anybody know any trick to get the update? Besides installing the apk.... Still stuck with the old one, would like to get the uptade ota too
I really don't like this new market.
When I select a app in the market is have to expand the description and other categories to see all the info. The old market had a far easier layout. I could just scroll down and have everything there.
This "upgrade" saddens me.
If you dont like new market, you can allways uninstall update and go back to old look...
I've had it for a week almost here in Norway. The market needed an update, but it's a lot slower and a bit cramped on the Legend screen. The carousel is a bit too much I think.
i just use appbrain...
Check this out...

It just crashes whenever I sign in. Got my hopes up for nothing. :C
Oh well, I guess I'll wait. :/
EDIT: Also running stock with the bali kernel, so stock could be the problem.
Same here, crash on sign in
Works on CM7 build 8.
Streams smooth even on 3G and the quality is good!

Hmm... post all of your settings, if your overclocked, modem, and stuff like that. There's something common (other then Froyo) that is making it crash.
I used the version from the market if that helps. Other than that I have a bone stock CM7 build 8 Vibrant.

Well, the netflix app has always worked on CM7. It looks like Froyo builds just crash on sign in. This sucks so much.

No, I'm running stock because I soft-bricked my phone (no idea how), and don't feel like running CM7.
I'm going to leave my sig like this. False Advertising ftw.
GUYS it only works on 2.3.

Device check was removed. It doesn't give us "Your device is not supported", it just randomly crashes.
yup yup yup. uninstalled the hacked one and downloaded the newest from the market and it works fine on cm7 (8).

...
yes.
Because it only works in Gingerbread.
They removed the warning that it wouldn't work, and they're just letting it crash instead.

Hmm....
Sneaky bastards.
It worked on Bi-Winning V2 for like 2 hours, then started crashing again.
Oh well. :/
The new market version doesn't work on NextGen V2 (overclocked 1.4 kernel). It crashes as soon as you sign in.
The older mod2 version would at least let you log in and let you do things, but then just give you that 1005 error about the server.
It works fine on my ROM which is CM7, not sure if it'll work on the Evo which is running stock, what's dumb enough is that I can't get the application from the market (dumb Sprint)
Netflix doesn't require Gingerbread on its own, just GB on Vibrant. I use Netflix on my Archos 101 (stock, non rooted) tablet all the time, and that's on Froyo (and unlike Vibrant will likely never get Gingerbread)

Does Archos 101 has a snapdragon processor? I am starting to think something about hummingbird is not letting netflix run on 2.2.
