I'm so annoyed that my girlfriends HTC Tattoo from Orange has had the Google Mail app removed that I am tempted to flash the ROM to the stock one from HTC. Is this possible? If so is it easy to do and could someone please direct me to some instructions.
Thanks in advance
Anyone know if this is even being worked on?
I've seen this :
http://androidforums.com/htc-tattoo/20498-unlocking-htc-tattoo-orange-uk.html
But did not try it myself for now... I have the same issue with my girlfriend's tattoo and I am really disappointed...
How Orange could ever do that... so stupid...
Hope that help, I will try it myself this evening...
Cheers,
Dave'
Funny how it seems everyone who has posted about this issue is someone who's girlfriend has the Tattoo!
I'm tempted to try it but as a few people failed and a few were successful i'm not confident! I haven't even rooted my Magic yet!
yeah... I do not feel really confident too but I will give it a try anyway....
will post if any success...
But yep, that's pretty funny that we end up trying to flash girlfriend's tattooo's..
Cheers !
It works perfectly , I've change the rom, but the handset still locked. Anyway now I can use Google apps.

Erm, that's not true. My SD Card is a sandisk and worked perfectly for making a goldcard.

Rooting the Magic is easy. Go to Cyanogen's wiki at www.cyanogenmod.com and read the instructions there on how to do it. It's easiest if your phone isn't a locked one. Here in New Zealand, no one sells locked phones so all this stuff is pretty easy.

2.) If i want my hd2 can able to read and write chinese what program or rom i should put it in?
3.) If i want to put rom into my hd2 the first thing is to install hspl and then the bootloader is that right?
please HELP!!!
OS 5.2.21889
Manila 2.5.20121412.1
rom ver 2.10.531.1
radio 2.08.50.08_2
ram size 576mb
flash size 1024mb
I am having that same problem too, I feel like throwing the phone at the wall am getting really pissed about this.
I got this from the Tmobile forums
After talking with some phone tech friends of mine.... unfortunately cant say which company in Austin, TX they work for..... I found out that the first batch of HD2s that were sent out had a corrupt file in them that was causing all kinds of freez ups and other issues. They told me about how to tell if mine was in the first flawed batch or the the batches that were sent after that been fixed by HTC prior to shipping them to tmobile. Here's how to tell:
If you remove the back battery cover and look for the factory reset button which is located below the battery to the left near the left edge where the cover snaps in place, you will be able to see that it is colored. If the color of the button is red, it is part of the first flawed batch that came out. If the button is yellow or any other color then it is part of the batches that had the problem fixed before they were sent out by HTC.
I am not sure if this info has been posted yet or not but if it hasn't then I hope this may give some insight to thoes who have been having some problems with their HD2. I am just guessing that if you were to sent your HD2 back for a new updated one, that tmobile would honor this issue and exchange it for you.
Thanks for all the info that ya'll post on here, it has come in handy!

help
is there any more people can give me some more advise ? Cause my phone still like that keeps on freezing every single day , can someone please help . Thank you
I got a new HD2 last evening from my Tmobile store. The soft reset button on my firsrt one was red, it had HORRIBLE problems, a freakin headache. This new one has a yellow soft reset button and it crashed really bad last night after I turn it off and on. SENSI UI didn't load for like 10mins and it was glitching from Start Menu to the Sense UI menu. Ive only had the phone for 7hours, stock ROM too. This is fustrating.
mine got a red dot but it's not freezing for the past month.
I've had mine 7 days. Yellow reset button. Stock Rom.
No freezing at all. Battery sucks. I turned off a few things in Sense UI yesterday and the seems to have improved.
From what I've read, most of the freezing problems are due to the slow MicroSD or with large number op SMS or Music files.
Try taking out your card for a few hours and see if its still freezing. If it is, ask for a new card.
Do yourself a favor return the phone your still with in the 14 day period. All of these problems are Sense U.I related and only custom roms can be fixed but your warranty will be voided..I wish i didnt buy this from Ebay and bought it from a corp store, so i could have returned it..
even with custom ROM.. less freezing but yes.. usually on the texting.. i think htc just released a new tmo rom the 26

That one is for Tmo in europe, not the US, won't work on the US model. (just wanted to be clear )

I called HTC and was told they know about the freezing issues. It uss with T-MOBILE HD2 only and they are working ona firmware fix. I have yellow reset button and lots of freezes. wondering off I should return this and get the Incredible from Verizon. Its Android so much better?

New faster? What does that mean? Are you saying to get a new 1GB microSD instead of using the 16GB microSDHC card that came with the phone?
A card isn't "fast", the thing that determines the speed of which a card can be "read" is the size of the card (32GB would be "slower" than 16GB).

Actually the speed that an SD card can be read at is rated by "class" (2, 4, 6, 8, and even some at 10 now)....the higher the class, the faster it can be read from. Unfortunately, HTC saw fit to provide us with a class-2 16GB from the factory, which can contribute to a number of issues, so even a class-4 card of any size would provide better performance than that
I upgraded to a class 6 8 gb micro sd and all freezing issues have ended except for sms freezing. I hope tmobile comes up with a firmware fix for it
the ugly truth is...
HTC did not do a lot to upgrade the ROM they sent to the US. Even with having a 6 month start and KNOWING the issues and complaints they were receiving overseas. Yes, you can flash, yes there are multiple tweaks, yes the people here are great at helping. However, the basic functionality that "should" but, did not come with the phone (sms lags, music skipping, sytem crashes when using proprietary sense UI) is really quite bad. Everone does not have these problems but there are more and more people asking the same questions.
I am going to wait until T-mo and htc get their @$$e$ in gear and release a fix. No timetable yet for it, but they have heard and earfull and are doing something . Then I will flash after all the manufacturers cures are applied.

I too just purchased mine. Class 2 file transfer for a 16 gig card is ridiculous. For this phone anyway. Also waiting for that sms freezing fix. It is definitely swype related and for some reason, swype (unlike any other input format) needs all messages loaded prior to being able to function. Blah...these are the ONLY issues I am having with the phone. Have had it since March 25th.

hey guys,
i have a lot of questions...
i tried android on my hd a lot of times....
the first times it worked finde but the latest roms are all crashed after a while
after deep sleep they are all freezing...
so the first question, is it an issue of my rom i´m using?
which one are you using for android? especially the devs which one are you using to try youre andrid?
i think its the best way if evertybody is using the same one to find out whick´h errors are comin from the windows rom or from android?
okay next question...
why is it not possible to install the cab on the main storage of the hd? a lot of errors are issued by the slow spped of the sd card? in my opinion it would fix a lot of probs if we can install android on the main storage, it would imrpove speed and saves sd card?
i´m not a dev so i don´t know if there is any possibility or not, its just a question for my understanding
i´m really looking forward to see a android rom for he hd bur i know its hard work for our devs here...
maybe we can make a bonus, everybody who wants a rom for android will pay 10 euros or dollar in jackpot and the guy who make a rom working will win the pot ;-)
thanxs for your answers and sorry for that bad german english
best wishes from germany
tom
is there really nobody who lnwos any answers?
it's just useless to reply because it has already been explained 10.000 times all over. If you at least 'd take the time to read
where is it explained which rom each dev is using? is ther any thread? if yes pls show me, cause i read a lot of time here.
and where is exaxtly written why we definitly canßt use the mainstorage?
We still need windows to initialize a lot of the hardware before launching android, for the moment.
At the moment, we cannot figure out the way to initialize it before booting android, this is why there's no android ROM ready.
Besides, there's still a lot more urgent/important things to do before (Deep sleep causing crashes, HW3D not working on Blackstone, and battery life, for example)

It's explain, countless time.
READ
then read again.
It's in the virtually all the main FAQ's.
AND this isn't a f**king ROM... THAT is explained in the FAQ's too.
oh i think you got me wrong. i don't want to install it like a rom. my questiin was about installing the cab on the mainstorage instead of the sd card. cause the reading time of the sd will be the biggest ussue which makes android slow and will causetbe problem of the waiting for... problems.

Please, there's no need to be rude, even if those questions were already asked and answered countless time, you're just losing your own time.

For the moment, we don't have access to the mainstorage from android, only the sdcard, if I remember correctly.
Alright people!
I am the developer of the SenseHERO rom for the HTC Hero (http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698281). I have recently obtained a HTC Touch HD so I will begin developing for you when I get some spare time.
Has anybody yet been successfully in getting tinboot working from NAND yet? If not then I may have to get my hands dirty and see what I can achieve just for experimental purposes obviously with the full awareness that alot of work will be needed to get hardware properly initialized.
If we get stuck the best person to get info for this would be DZO who made android from NAND a reality for the Vogue/Kaiser who are now running it on their Devices as stable & fast as the Native Android Phones..
Best Regards,

Hey guys!
So, I finally have two HD2s here, and I'm an idiot so I want a run through of a few things to start off here.
Well, I had a bricked T-Mobile HD2, and I just of recent put a new motherboard in, and it now charges, so I know it works. But thing is, it has had a task29 on the motherboard so I have no clue as to what to do next.
I also have a cracked European HD2 that I bought off a friend for $50. Just has a crack under the glass, and a few dead pixels around the crack. It is running an Android rom of some sort, but I'm wanting to know something.
I want to install either Pdaitejam or Yuki [Back to the Future] Windows Phone 7 builds on both of the HD2s. Now, I wish to be able to do this without bricking either of them LOL.
I need a runthrough of the exact HardSPL and radio, how to install them plus Magldr, and more, so I can hopefully get them running Windows Phone. I already have two live activation codes so I'm good to go.
Thanks,
CJ

Hi.
The best advice i can gine is to go to the Pdaitejam rom thread and watch the video posted in the first post. Works a treat.
only other things i would recommend are. ( certainly in your case)
Flash a stock WM6.5 rom first to make sure all hard ware ( BT WiFi etc) is working OK. Loads of people have got into problems when "throwing" on a WP rom then having issues and not knowing if its hard or software causing them.
Also make sure your SD cards are squeaky clean and formatted.
There are plenty of posts on the order in which to do things . Use the search Luke
Good luck

Hello guys and gals,
I've been reading this forum for a few years now and really appreciate the community. I've learned so much from everyone I wish I could repay you all somehow. Thanks in advance for the assistance, I'm a little rusty so please bare with me.
I've got my HTC Leo working with CyanogenMod-6.1.0-Nightly-HD2(AndroidMediaUltimate) on top of CoreCell (unsure of the version at the moment, will edit soon)
The phone has been running a little wonky lately and freezing like crazy when the accellorometer changes states or when I'm using the camera. I also have some odd issues with WiFi dropping out and then giving an error... it's just time to reflash I think.
My question is, where do I start? LOL It's all changed since I initially flashed and I don't know if either SD or NAND has benefit over the other. I also want to stick to the Cyanogen build as it's been my favorite, but are there any others that are seriously worth testing? I don't have a lot of time on my hands as I'm busy with work and kids around, etc.
Are there any helpful souls out there who are willing to point me in the right direction? I don't need my hand held, I just need to get on the path and I can figure out the rest. Thank you again for reading and hopefully the assist!
you should try NativeSD where you install your ROM's ( you can have as many as you like depending on the size of the EXT4) in SD which is almost as fast as NAND & you'll have lot's of space for apps to install.
which loader are you using? MAGLDR or CLK?
try this link so that you'll have an idea
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31414628#post31414628
BTW No need to flash radio & use task29 & if ever you will flash radio be careful w/ Tmo's as some radio version can brick it.
Thank you Mengfei! I'm using the Haret loader, afaik? I haven't loaded into CoreCell in so long I just don't remember off the top of my head.
Also, I've switched to AT&T GoPhone service. I moved to the UK a couple years ago and had my phone unlocked when they were still handing out the codes. I'm hoping that I can spoof the APN and get my data service as it's inoperable at the moment. The radio I'm on is really solid, I switched it when I was in the UK for the o2 network. It seems to work on the cingular/AT&T network well, so I'll probably leave it for the time being.
Is there a specific build, rom/loader/etc, that you prefer for the Leo? -edit- After reading some of your posts, I've also gained some curiosity if WP7 has any benefit opposed to WinMo6.5? I don't use the windows side at all of the phone, so unless it's quicker to boot or more stable, is there any real need?

If you don't use Windows at all then there's really no point to using SD, just flash NAND. Some people say that NativeSD is faster than NAND but that really depends on your SD card whilst NAND will always be fairly fast. Follow the guide in my sig and you should be fine.

Try this rom, CyanogenMod 7. Works great. Fast, Stable. Ive been using it for about 4 months, no issues til now
