Does any one know how to get fring to use the FFC... it seems to only wanna goto the back one and I cant find anything in the settings.
I too have this same issue. Any help would be great! Went to their website but no help.

i know... useless... ive been having this issue since i installed a FFC on my vibrant, even changing the build.prop on my vibrant didnt do anything
Same problem here too. I ended up downloading Tango from the market and after about a minute of setup I was making video calls with slightly better quality and the ability to switch cameras on the fly.

Now, I have the Tab and I couldn't help but notice the default camera program only lets you take pics with the front facing camera and not record video with it. So I was wondering if their was like an app for this or some tinkering with the software and what that could be done to get this working?
I think you can do that with the Qik video chat program, but I haven't really tinkered around with it

Trust me I've tried. Every time I hit record it freezes up. I mean first a green screen then complete freeze.
Ya, I actually tried right after posting that's exactly what happened to me. Bahh Humbug.

Yea, it sucks. I mean I don't understand. I mean in theory the Tab's FFC should be able to record video, but this is not the case at all.
I tried the Qik app and it is working for me for front-facing recording. I had the T-Mo version when I first got my Tab that sometimes froze, but went to the Qik site and got an update that worked much better. Haven't had any problems with it yet.

What update?
Hello everyone,
I flashed over to update-cm-7.0.0-RC1-glacier-signed and love it. However, there is no camcorder/video recorder. I tried searching the market but really could not find anything.
Can someone please help me on this problem. Thanks so much

Video recorder is with the camera. Open the camera app and yheres a switch to change it to video recording. There is no separate icon for it.
Duh...I knew that. I was just testing the techs here, Lol.
All kidding aside...thanks for the tip. Now that I know how to use the camcorder, let me ask this. Do they make a better app for recorder video?
Example...They make better apps for just taking snap shots...so thought maybe they make a better app just for video.
Before someone says..."why dont you just search the market"...I did that, and could not really find anything.
Thanks again for the help,
BK
BUMP....Please help guys, thanks

And what exactly is the same problem? Going back to stock won't make a magical camcorder app appear in the market...
what kernels are you guys using.. ?

+1. I would like to know this too. I've searched high and low but just can't seem to find anything and I would like to blame it on my lack of searching ability rather than face the harsh reality that no one has made a better camcorder app than stock.

may not make a better app appear in the market, but you can use the better Sense Camcorder app

But you would have to keep flipping your phone over to see the other person which kind of defeats the object of video calls. I'm surprised the camera works because the phone models Skype have introduced the video calling for are having problems and the desire wasn't included in the roll-out because of the fact it doesn't have front-facing camera.
would you be kind enough to post the apk?
thanks

Desire was rolled out in the official Skype release today. Screenshot from the market attached.
I'm still on your train of thought though, pretty pointless having a Skype video conversation when you have to stand in front of a mirror to do it.

Hmmm, another pointless addition to Skype. I use Skype daily and stick to an older version (1.0.0.983) because it's the most stable and the UI is the most user friendly. It was the last version released prior to the video calling releases but it's still not perfect. Since Microsoft took over Skype they appear to be doing some ridiculous things...like adding video calling to phones that don't have front facing cameras
the update doesn't have video for me...running miui latest version which is GB

I got a Desire with Cyanogenmod 7.1 (Gingerbread). When i start the video I got a blank (black) screen on my side and on my caller's side as well (at least he can see his camera, the phone doesn't show even that)... :/
Sometimes I got also a FClose and one time my phone self rebooted...
doesn't work for me neither. Can't find the option to enable it.

I enjoy having the option of video calling different people different uses I guess... maybe you are on vacation and want to show someone the view from your hotel room.
Skype still feels heavy though and I keep turning it off when I'm not using it. Hopefully after a while it will be as light as google talk and viber, and it can be kept up and running all the time
...or even better - hopefully google talk will be good enough to replace Skype. hope google releases google voice for the rest of us not-Americans soon too...
the app "stop Skype" broke with the latest update btw. too bad, was great easy way to exit Skype.

hi wonder if anyone used video on skype with ther mobile network(not wifi) wondered if you have good quality tmobile uk doesnt seem to work
tested and works fine on my Desire. Rooted with cm7 . i enjoy this option, even without a front facing camera, because i only used videocalls for broadcasting "what i see" to other connected collegues.
works like a charm
i don't have video calling with the new Skype and when i try phone call the signal is very bad

Saw a thread on this a few days ago but nobody responded..... On many of the rom's including the D3 camera or even if i flash the Stock Atrix camera , my front camera images are upside down. I never noticed this until i was using Qik for Video Chat and a few people said i was upside down. Any ideas How to correct this?

Switch from portrait to landscape view by turning the phone by 90 degrees. That's the only solution that I am aware of right now.

this used to be a problem for me when I ran the hktw GB build, but after going to the att one it went away. try running the other non-atrix version of qik and see if it's still bad.
So I am not usually the guy to post new threads. Most everything I need I can find already. But after I was video recording my son at the park today and missed yet another video due to FC issues I guess it's time to finally ask. I have had my HD2 running some android rom or another for almost 2 years. I presently have CM7 Tytung v 3.8.5-MAGLDR. The reason I am asking this here and not in that thread is because it has always been an issue regardless of the ROM I am running at the time. The video recorder force closes. It's that simple. It works intermittently and then it will inevitably force close and can not be re-opened. The only fix is to reboot the phone. I have tried about every camera/video app in the Play store. I have flashed different cameras. My wife also has an HD2 Tmobile the exact phone as me and has the exact same issue as me. The video recorder force closes. I have to wonder if I am just missing something simple? Is there an app or something to flash differently? I recently had WP7 on my HD2 and the camera was AWESOME ! WP7 just doesn't do what Droid does.I am open to suggestions. Is this a known issue I am just forced to deal with on my HD2? How can I make my Iphone buddies stop laughing at my force closing Android HD2?

Youre not alone, same thing happens to me :/ no matter the ROM, i remember reading a thread about it but what i read didnt really help. It said something about not using the fix because most newer ROMs have the fix installed. So i didnt bother downloading it and cant find the thread anymore. Im gonna go look fo rit. hope others can help us both!
I found this earlier today here on the XDA site "props to whomever it came from " I just did a random search and found it. I was using my phone so I'm not sure the page exactly. Never the less I unistalled the stock camera via Titanium Backup and flashed this through CM Recovery. It has a video feature and a decent camera interface. So far no lock ups. Only this afternoon though. Time will tell. I've been running test to try and fool it. Using lots of memory, taking multiple shots switching back and forth, rebooting etc. So far its worked. Try it out, lemme know if it works.
Well, I had been using a CM7 Nightly neared build with a few mods that jar never failed me with camera and camcorder- it was so dependable that I have it on my old, some-hard-keys-dont-work HD2 because am using ICS primarily nowadays.
I'll post what changes I make later, and can post the ROM itself here if anyone wants to try...

<OT> Whoa bro! Go eay on smilies and ......... - it makes your post pretty hard to read, especially on the XDA app!</OT>
*Update* So after almost two years of agony I may have finally found a fix. The .zip file I posted earlier has worked so far. I fooled around with it all day yesterday and last night as well as this morning. I tried everything I know to make it crash from running multiple apps, opening a camera during a call, playing music then opening the camera etc. Rebooted a couple of times. Still not crash. I'll keep posting here with status updates. I found this yesterday on the XDA site. I just did a Google search. I am not sure who originaly posted this .zip file. If it continues to work I will give them a hug
