Yea, pretty much all black screen. I was able to figure it out though. It had something to do with my extsdcard. I just pulled it out and then pulled battery and then it booted up fine. It was a scary experience .

Yea, kind of. I've never had to use it before but I've been able to connect to it before just to see if it recognized my phone. I tried it during my scare and it wouldn't read it.

It happened again! I realize now that it happens when i try to get into recovery from clockwork!

NO it just stays there and hangs :-( I went to rom manager and then it started to reboot and went to that screen where i get the errors and find update packages or whatever.

I've done it countless of times before. I'm using the Vibrant AOSP ish JK2 1.1 Official FROYO. This only happens when i try to go into recovery
Have you done it using that Rom before successfully. It might b an issue with the Rom. Try posting this in the roms thread and if anyone has this issue

Anybody got an update.zip i can flash from recovery...I tried to flash a ROM over Ryans lag fix and my phone got bricked. I wiped everything, tried to flash update.zip and its giving me an error Installation aborted....WTF!!! Im about to fly this phone up against my living room wall...any help would be much appreciated!!

Sounds to me like it's time to break out Odin and the stock ROM installer. If the ZIP you have won't apply, it's not likely anything else we make will either.

Chill dude. I know it's frustrating, I messed up my phone too. Can you get the phone into download mode?
So you can't boot into recovery?
Just boot into the samsung recovery and reinstall packages then do a nandroid restore.....

I got it into download mode but its been in that mode for about an hr now..and I can get into stock recovery..but i dont have the update.zip file..Maybe if someone could link me that ZIP file, I could flash it through recovery.
Odin wont load anything for me, it says 0 suceed/ 0 failed..
Reinstall packages from recovery and see if that helps.

I am new to power using with phones. I had went to install syndicate and my phone had crashed, i finally got it up and running with oden once, Tried it again, this time i can't seem to get oden to work. At one point my phone wasn't even turning on or doing anything until i had taken it to a sprint store hoping my insurance would cover it.
I can get into clockwork.
I can get into download mode.
Oden is not working.
and Installing from zip is not working.
I could really use some help with this.

Try another USB cable and also make sure it is plugged into the same USB port as before.

Did u convert to ext4 before u tried to flash srf? Also srf didn't come with a kernel u need to flash a kernel right after the rom

If there would be something wrong with the boot, is there a way to fix this? After using odin or installing from zip it goes right back into clockwork every time.

What recovery are u using?? I would say try to really install the drivers on your computer and use Odin to go back to stock and start fresh.

Thanks everyone for the help anyways, I found a .tar file that was a full install for odin and now i have it up and running.
I also figured out what i was originally doing, rooting and installing syndicate.

He didn't install a kernel.
0.00 internal storage and the external reads 0. I have flashed every Odin file I could find, tried the heimdall one click. Nothing is working. Any ideas? I promised the phone to my father in law and he is in town for the weekend.

Try "eugenes froyo that doesn't brick" for the 60th time.
On ODIN put a check mark next to Re-Partition, but you said that had no effect.
Hmmmmmm, I bet eugene knows the answer. I feel like there is a thread somewhere that discusses this issue.

I was on cm7. No voodoo. I didn't have a SD in the phone and plugged it in for mass storage. Upon realizing that, I popped one in with the phone still connected. That's when I noticed the problem. I haven't been using my phone. I Odin'd from cm7 weeks ago and didn't touch the phone until I plugged it in for mass storage.

I had the same issue when I was coming back to a froyo rom from CM 7.1, I did everything you did flashed froyo that didn't brick and nothing so this is what I did I used Odin JI6 file from this thread ODIN JI6 and the zip comes with ODIN 1.3, 512 PIT,T959UVJI6.TAR. I used that version of odin 1.3 to flash JI6 tar and pit files and checked re partition, when it rebooted it was stuck at the factory recovery so I pulled the battery, held vol up vol down and plugged in the usb cord to get back into download mode. Now I opened ODIN 1.7(DL LINK) and flashed froyo that doesn't brick also check re partition when it re boots it will go into a boot loop you know this, so THEN yes one more odin I kept the same version of odin open 1.7 and I flashed Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.zip also with re partition checked. After all this I was still having issues with market then I cleared market catch installed trigger rom and now I can install apps again I would like to tell you the three odins was unnecessary but it wasn't until odin with JI6 that now my phone work right as for CM roms I never have one issue flashing then but if I want to revert back to a 2.2 rom it's a all day event hope this helps

Also noticed that when I flash JFD, I get no errors(datadata, sd card, mmcblk0) in recovery after it boots from odin. The catch is, it goes black after the boot animation. Only the soft keys will light up. Really super stumped. Adb wont see my phone, so its making it really hard to manually repartition the internal storage. I have never been a adb wiz.

Well damn. Have you tried different versions of Odin? What about a Voodoo kernel and conversion, any difference? There is something I remember reading a while back about an issue like this, I don't remember exactly what it said, but I'll try to find it for you.

I can't find the thread I was thinking of, sorry. I was thinking that your issue here sounds very similar to when people had done the partitioning via rom manager/cwm. Perhaps fixes for that will lead you in the right direction.

Still no luck. But after screwing with it, it now says I have a damaged internal SD, doest say blank internal SD anymore. I think that the phone is all done : (

Sure does. Im going to jump on the new T-Mobile pre-paid plan. $70 a month for unlimited everything with 5gb of 4g speed before they throttle you. Use my old ass G1 until I either get a sgs2 or a prime.
I was reading a thread about the storage issue(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957615), and Im 300% sure that the phone is ****ed. I think I roasted the internal storage completely. A true brick. Do I get a cookie for bricking the un-brickable?
For the life of me, I cannot get either version to flash. I've read, and reread this thread (I'm a reader) as well as everything in general - the wiki (I'm a reader). Just need 2 say that before JC is brought up in any response I get. At any rate, I boot into cw, wipe and flash. Each time and I've tried 4 times now, I get stuck at the Samsung screen. I'm on EL30, also have the modem and I'm rooted...I've done this many times bu cannot get this ROM to work for me....and I oh so wanna buy the dev a beer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am on ClockworkMod 5.0.2.7
Tried downloading 4 different times
First tried flashing BML - twice
stuck on Samsung screen
nandroided back
Tried flashing MTD
stuck on Samsung screen
Tried one last time to flash BML - had to nandroid back again.
I've read a lot, a whole lot and I still cannot figure it out.
OK, try reflashing CWM 5.0.2.7 first. then do a Factory Data reset in CWM then flash the ROM right after. Don't use ROM Manager. See how that works. If you tried the MTD version then use that one. You may want to Odin back to BML with repartition checked if you want to try that one.

Ok....tried that with high hopes and got:

going to nandroid back again...if that works
Did try redownloading the rom &reflashing it?
Your problem seems to be a bad download. I had a problem with MTD because of ACS recovery, then i had a bad download

Looks like you are getting bad downloads or your sd card is corrupted. You may need to backup and reformat your sd card.

I'm beginning to think this download (second MTD download) is bad. I totally removed my card - put all the info on my computer, inserted a new card, flashed and got the same error. Gonna delete the download and try again.

WinRAR is your friend. To test the integrity of a ROM zip file, open with WinRAR, click on Commands > Test archived files and it should come back with "no errors found" if it's a good download.

very helpful information. I have read a lot about people having issues with bad downloads. Nice to know you can check them like that. I have noticed in flashing various roms that I have come across some random glitches. Perhaps this could be the culprit. Thanks again.
Users should ALWAYS verify the integrity of ROM downloads using the md5 sums posted by the developer. If you download directly to your phone you can use the "properties" view in Root Explorer. If you've got it on your PC you can use the utilities found here - http://www.winmd5.com/
Not sure exactly what happened. I was using the tablet and all of a sudden the bottom three buttons disappeared as well as the top bar. The system kept getting force closes. I rebooted and it just sat in the reboot mode. I tried to recover from the system but that is not working. I cant seem to get the system to mount via usb now. I am in clockwork mod v5.8.0.2 and do not see an option. If I could mount it I could put an img file back on and get it to work. Any help would be great.

You could try to flash back the stock software to see if that helps? Look here for some help.
Are you running a custom ROM or anything else? ALSO, once you do manage to get everything fixed, I would upgrade your CWM to the most current version 6.0.1.0 by flashing this in the older (5.8.0.2) version.
Sounds like it might be permission related, you could try a 'fix permissions' in recovery

I keep getting the message "error: cannot load 'bootloader-grouper-3.34.img' . It seems like something is wrong with the file. Is there a way I could just flash another Rom on this way or even update the clockwork mod using adb?

Did you download the nakasi file from the google site? You shouldn't have an issue with that. And you can update CWM using ADB, just check over in the Android Development section.
A lot of people have been having problems with the nexus 7, best bet is return it and get a new one

similar issue with TWRP.. I did temp root thru nexus root/recovery app (thanks dev) Then pushed cwm recovery to data/media.. Booted back into temp cwm from above and flashed up to date cwm.. will stick with cwm for now..
