Anybody got an update.zip i can flash from recovery...I tried to flash a ROM over Ryans lag fix and my phone got bricked. I wiped everything, tried to flash update.zip and its giving me an error Installation aborted....WTF!!! Im about to fly this phone up against my living room wall...any help would be much appreciated!!

Sounds to me like it's time to break out Odin and the stock ROM installer. If the ZIP you have won't apply, it's not likely anything else we make will either.

Chill dude. I know it's frustrating, I messed up my phone too. Can you get the phone into download mode?
So you can't boot into recovery?
Just boot into the samsung recovery and reinstall packages then do a nandroid restore.....

I got it into download mode but its been in that mode for about an hr now..and I can get into stock recovery..but i dont have the update.zip file..Maybe if someone could link me that ZIP file, I could flash it through recovery.
Odin wont load anything for me, it says 0 suceed/ 0 failed..
Reinstall packages from recovery and see if that helps.

Yea, pretty much all black screen. I was able to figure it out though. It had something to do with my extsdcard. I just pulled it out and then pulled battery and then it booted up fine. It was a scary experience .

Yea, kind of. I've never had to use it before but I've been able to connect to it before just to see if it recognized my phone. I tried it during my scare and it wouldn't read it.

It happened again! I realize now that it happens when i try to get into recovery from clockwork!

NO it just stays there and hangs :-( I went to rom manager and then it started to reboot and went to that screen where i get the errors and find update packages or whatever.

I've done it countless of times before. I'm using the Vibrant AOSP ish JK2 1.1 Official FROYO. This only happens when i try to go into recovery
Have you done it using that Rom before successfully. It might b an issue with the Rom. Try posting this in the roms thread and if anyone has this issue

But odin works for me...
I am new to power using with phones. I had went to install syndicate and my phone had crashed, i finally got it up and running with oden once, Tried it again, this time i can't seem to get oden to work. At one point my phone wasn't even turning on or doing anything until i had taken it to a sprint store hoping my insurance would cover it.
I can get into clockwork.
I can get into download mode.
Oden is not working.
and Installing from zip is not working.
I could really use some help with this.

Try another USB cable and also make sure it is plugged into the same USB port as before.

Did u convert to ext4 before u tried to flash srf? Also srf didn't come with a kernel u need to flash a kernel right after the rom

If there would be something wrong with the boot, is there a way to fix this? After using odin or installing from zip it goes right back into clockwork every time.

What recovery are u using?? I would say try to really install the drivers on your computer and use Odin to go back to stock and start fresh.

Thanks everyone for the help anyways, I found a .tar file that was a full install for odin and now i have it up and running.
I also figured out what i was originally doing, rooting and installing syndicate.

i installed BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid v2.4.zip from recovery mode..wen trying to reboot with new rom..the phone freeZes on the tmobile mytouch4g logo..
i factory reset the phone again.. and then reboot it..but still the same error!!
any suggestions?? help me!

you cant get into recovery? with the device off power on holding volume down and power button then go to recovery and boot into it manually that way

there is a option that says recovery you go to that one and it should boot you into recovery

you need to flash another rom something is bad with the one you flashed wiping wont fix anything if the system is corrupt somewhere restore via nandroid or flash a completely different rom thats your only choices.

flash through recovery go into the bootloader (bootloader=phone off volume down hold power) use the volume rockers and go to recovery and boot into CLOCKWORKMOD recovery which is what you said you have then do a full wipe and install rom normally. if you cant do this then no offense but you really shouldnt be messing with your phone... if all else fails download the stock rom and flash through the bootloader

download the ROMNAME.zip put it on your sdcard where you can find it then go into clockworkmod recovery and go to install zip from sdcard choose zip from sdcard navigate to where you saved your ROMNAME.zip select it and it will install use virtuous sense and stick with that cause if anything happens you seem new and i dont think you will know how to fix it...
and wiping isn't gonna magically fix the fact that your operating system is f'd up but you should wipe before flashing a new rom cause it will screw up the new rom flashed

If you look in the thread for blisssense, there are several posts where people complained about the same thing with 2.4. Zfreak has released 3.1 which is the one you would want.

The clockworkmod method doesn't always work.
Mine right now is doing this same problem and when I go into recovery Clockworkmod only gives me the red triangle of death. And yes, all my recoveries are flashed with the correct versions. (I know what I'm doing)
Sometimes there's just a series of things that all goes wrong in the perfect order.
:crying:I am rooted using cf auto, i had twrp 2.6, but just now i put 2.5.0.2 zip on my sd card to flash, bc i was having problems with 2.6, i was about to flash my first custom rom, but i wanted to revert back to 2.5.0.2 first, so when i went to flash 2.5.0.2, i went into goomanager to boot into recovery, which was fine, then i went into my sd card to install 2.5.0.2, i swiped to install, then is said install successful, so i hit reboot, NOW i am STUCK IN DOWNLOAD MODE...i cant get out! please help...i took battery out, i dont know what else to do...:crying: :crying:
So when you put the battery back in the phone it automatically boots into download mode?
If not then hold power+home+volume down to boot into recovery.

That does not work either....ive tried volume up down sideways, home button, no home button...every which way takes me to download mode...there has to be another way...
If all it does is go into download mode. Then you are lucky in a way because you can Odin back to stock which fixes almost all issues. This will delete you data, more than likely. Which is only apps, messages, calls, not your pictures on internal storage.

It sucks. But stuff like this happens. And being rooted you have to know the risks of flashing and modding your phone. And its not that bad. Its exactly the same as wiping your phone to install a new ROM. You delete all the same stuff. Not hard to get back up and running.

No do not do this! Just go to tarp site and get the twrp tar file for the version you want. Then use Odin to load twrp recovery. This way you won't lose everything. Also to boot to recovery you can just use power and volume up. More than likely twrp didn't flash correctly so you have no recovery. Flashing it with Odin may solve the problem.

He specifically stated he didn't want to wipe. Plus why return completely to stock if there is no need. You SPARKY need to settle down and try to give useful information for a persons particular problem. Running around like a chicken with its head cut off for a simple recovery missflash. Then to try and bash me because I actually helped him not to have to set everything up again. What if he didn't have a proper nandroid or hadn't ran a recent TB backup. Then he would have lost all data. Now all is well. Check post 7 if you missed the part where he is asking for a better way.

He didn't say he didn't want to wipe until after. He didn't say that when I told him to Odin back to stock. I am settled. Lol. At the time that was the only way I knew we to resolve this so I gave him that option. It was good that you guys knew about the tar version of the recovery.

Im on AT&T i337 MK2 and all I did was reboot it so a new transition when opening apps would apply when it tried rebboting it go stuck on the samsung logo

Have you tried rebooting it again and do you have a backup of your phone. I'm sure we can get it working again but to do that it might wipe your device.

I have tried rebooting it multiple times and it wont work. Yes I have a backup. By the way my phone is also rooted.

I would try a factory reset in recovery, you'll lose root so you'll have to re-root afterwards.

Ok I did it three times and when I reboot its still doing it but on top of it all its still rooted cause when I reboot it still says Samsung Custom and shows a lock symbol.

That's not a good sign that it's not working. The next thing to try is to flash the factory firmware. See the attached. You'll want to download the all in one file and flash that in odin.

You'll download a .rar file, use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that file in the PDA slot in odin.

Download Odin and the all in one onto your computer. You'll run Odin from your computer. Boot your phone into download mode then plug it into your usb cable. Odin should show that your device is connected.

Start it up. You'll see a PDA slot where you can browse for a file. Browse to where the.tar.md5 file you downloaded is. Then boot your phone into download mode and plug the usb cable into it. Odin should have a com in the upper left hand corner turn yellow or blue, it depends on the Odin version you're using. Once you see that your phone is being recognized by Odin and you can hit start. If everything goes right it should take about 10 minutes for it to do its thing. If it's successful boot into recovery and do a factory reset

I don't want to steal your thunder JD. Sketchy do you live near a BestBuy? If so some have a Samsung Experience Shop which they can do that for you if you are unsure how to use Odin. Tell them Kies broke your phone and ask them to reflash it. Its free. Try not to show them the custom logo.
