Hi everyone, long time reader, first time threader. I've been reading alot about the Nexus One and without going into a ****load of detail, as you all know, the forums do attract alot of negative reviews, only because, obviously, the masses of people out there who are happy with their shiny new handset are sitting back, playing with their gadget, probably laughing at the world.
My phone arrives tomorrow, so I thought it would be interesting to start a thread that everyone can post their positive, satisfied testimonials in. If this thread fails I will take that as a fail over all.
Nothing negative here, if you're happy with your new Nexus let everyone know here. Over 9,000 pages.

Mine is awesome. I have none of the issues everyone is talking about. In particular, I like the battery life compared to my last htc, and how easy it was to pair to my 3 cars.

As a mover from WinMo to the N1 I am very happy. I still have plenty of learning to do about Android and will root when I think the community has enough tools to make it really worth it, but my first impressions are that this is a good quality handset that feels good in the hand and is very responsive.
I have been using it for 10 days and wouldn't consider any of the small challenges I've had anything more than an ignorance of what Android is possible of.

I've been a long time iPhone (jailbroken) user and have just got into the Android scene with my Nexus One.
I must say,...I'm absolutely loving the device,..my 3GS feels dated in comparison! I'd still say the iPhone OS has more polish then the current iteration of Android 2.1, but know that won't be for too much longer.
Loving the Android community too!

I would like to say that I am very happy with the phone having played about with it for the last 3 days. It is everything I expected it to be and the more apps/widgets I add the more impressed I am with it.
Being a smart/internet phone it heavily relies on a good connection. On 3g/WIFI it is easily the best phone I have used and in terms of ease of use and speed it matches the iphone.
I had to set up the APN settings after I got the phone and ever since then the connection has been fine. Please note that on GPRS the speed is not that great - which is not a fault of the phone.
It surpasses the iphone in terms of customizability and the fact that you can have a number of apps running at the same time without ANY slowing down! ON a Jail broken iphone everything bugged down due to multiple apps being used.
I only need a decent case now as it has slipped out of my hand several times due to its slick design!
Overall - very impressed, very happy, absolutely no regrets about not getting the iphone which was the only other alternative I was considering.

I went from having a G1 since February last year over to getting the nexus last monday (ordered it a couple of hours after the press conference). All i can say is... wow!!!
Well, actually i can say some more things ;-) This piece of aluminium and glass is lightning quick. It's slim, it has the best phone-screen that i have ever seen, Android 2.1 looks extremely nice (like what they replaced the drawer with). Not having physical buttons is no problem since it have tactile feedback (takes a couple of minutes to get used to but after that you don't really reflect over it).
My friend has the IXXXXX 3gs and we have compared web loading speed. Let me just say that the NE is always faster when it comes to loading the entire page. Sometimes it is twice as fast (we tried several urls of which neither of us had visited before - they were not cached). When you flipped the G1 over to the side, it sometimes took several seconds for the image to flip with it. On the NE it is instantanious.
As for the problems you guys have had with 3g->2g and back, i can't really say i've had these issues. Where i live (Sweden) it have worked rock solid since the beginning.
There exists one issue with the screen on the NE right now, but since is the praise-thread where we are all positive, i will save that for another thread

I've been a long time WinMo and Blackberry user here, and the N1 is my first Android device.
I'd have to say, I'm definitely impressed. The hardware is slick and fast, I've had absolutely no issues with the phone other people have had (except no 3g coverage when I'm at work, but life goes on). Pictures are good for a phone, everything is just nice.
Once an N1 with a hardware keyboard comes out, I'll give the current N1 to the boyfriend as he's smitten with it and -hates- hardware keyboard, whereas I have to have a device with a hardware keyboard (work-related, I send emails like a fiend).
It plays Pokemon Ruby perfectly. And...it just works.
On a positive note as well, yesterday in my office with had a Blackberry (Tour), WinMo (Imagio), WebOS (Pre), iPhone (3gs) and of course my Nexus One. iPhone, WinMo and Blackberry users were aaall jealous (especially the iPhone user). The Pre guy likes it a lot as well, but not quite smitten.

Again - I have absolutely no complains about the nexus at all. It is the device that I have been waiting for so long, and it does not disappoint in any way. Had it for 2 weeks now and still can't stop playing with it. Can't think of any other bit of tech where the novelty hasn't worn off after a couple of days
So I received the phone 10 hours ago, and only let it out of my hand because I had to go to the toilet and eat.
Its fantastic.

1 week old for me, moved from a Symbian. This is much better. Sorted out the sync process for my emails and calender (from Outlook - I love the fact I don't need to connect the phone to my PC to sync, I know it may well be days before I need to turn the PC on with this phone). No manufacture issues. Lots of looks from iphone droids (incl my gf!). Loads of Apps.
Can't wait for flash, because when that arrive, there will be no beating this sweet bit of kit - oh yes, and the price, for a SIM free, £360 delivered (subject to possible VAT) is an awesome price!
I can't praise this enough! I simply see it as a HTC with a google ad/logo on it!! Nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

I use mine on the toilet! (I know; that is grody.) It is that hard to part from the phone. I'm coming from a rooted G1 that I spent a lot of time playing around with.
In comparison to the iPhone, Android + Nexus One hardware makes it far superior. Not saying the iPhone isn't a great piece of hardware in its own respect, I just think the marketing that went behind it has implanted the idea that it is the most superior phone out there. To me, the Nexus One has disproved that. I can actually have a phone with a background (live wallpapers, FTW) and not populated with a bunch of squares (widgets, FTW). I can actually view all my notifications and have quick access to them via simple swipe of the notification bar.
I use text-to-speech on this phone as I did on my G1. SayMyName is quite useful (despite some bugs on the N1, it reads the contact number not the name). On my G1, SayMyName would slow my calls down and it would ring 4-5 times before actually giving me a chance to pick up. Not so much on the N1. It is instant.
Camera takes nice pictures. Navigation works great (used it on the G1, but should be same on the N1, just faster). The screen is pretty, very pretty. Simply put, this phone is awesome!
I apologize for my ramblings; I've been getting a lot of flak from iPhone users. I hope everyone enjoys their Nexus One as much as I do.
I've used WinMo devices for the past five years or so (Since O2 XDA). Latest one was a HTC Touch Diamond.
I've been using my Nexus One now for a week and it never stops to amaze me. I thought my Touch Diamond was pretty neat, but compared to the speed and ease-of-use of Android on this blazingly fast N1... it's just awesome. And (unlike my Touch Diamond) it doesn't need soft resets three times a day....
Mine is really awesome. I have none of the issues some are talking about. In particular, I like the Speed, UI, Design, Flexability, Customizing, etc...Did I mention Fast
Got mine ~4 hours ago. After reading through these forums the past day to see what problems I might expect, the only issue I saw, but was prepared for, was one edge of the screen wasn't sealed. Turned the hairdryer on it for ~30 seconds, pressed down and the screen stuck. No dust was under the screen straight out of the plastic protector. No 3G swapping issues (T-Mobile).
Impressive piece of kit, especially coming from a Dash where some keys weren't working and sound quality had gone to crap.
Compared to my wife's MyTouch 3G, the Android keyboard is waaaay easier to get keys on the outer edge to register. It usually takes me a few tries on the wife's, but the N1 keys register on the first try.
Very happy ~4 hours in.
Had it around a week and a half now. Absolutely love it! After spending so many years with WinMo I can't describe the difference. Such a great piece of hardware too.
how is the battery life?
is the phone stable on AT&T?
i'm coming from an SE X10. the phone is eye candy. and other than the camera, it ain't all that.
looks like nexus one is getting ALL the goodies. so i'm thinking about picking one up.

Dropped calls are a network issue, not a hardware issue

No issues I know of with the phone. OP, no one likes dropped calls. Mine works fine - in this area. Your mileage may vary.
I can go a day, but not two with a single charge most of the time, unless I am using turn by turn nav, and then I am charging while driving. Radios eat batteries. Run only those you need, and keep good widgets handy to manage them.
I've had the Nexus One for AT&T for close to a month, and I live in the DC area. Take my unscientific, layman's review for what it is.
The phone is very nice. It's easily the best phone I've ever had, but I cannot say that it's a superphone without adding certain things to consider. I've been on this forum for a long time, since I bought an 8525 and was blown away to find through Google searches that people were customizing their phones to speed them up.
I really thought my days of modding the phone to death and waiting for the latest dev release to speed my phone up would be over with a 1Ghz phone with 512 MB of RAM running Android. Sadly enough, that's just not true. I figured the phone would fly out of the box. In a lot of ways it does, but I found the stock ROM to not be aesthetically smooth. The scrolling on the default launcher is borderline painful considering the hardware. Third party launchers like LauncherPro are essential (to me) for a smooth user experience.
I'm also disappointed by the browsing experience. Many sites feature choppy scrolling, another thing I thought would be behind me with a phone so powerful. Considering how the iPhone 3G my girlfriend has regularly puts up a smoother scrolling experience than the Nexus One particularly hits home.
But, after some tweaking (Cyanogen Mod, a 1.1 Ghz Kernel, and some third party apps from the Market), I am really, really enjoying the phone. The camera is very high quality, better than I expected, and the flash works much better than I anticipated. I find myself rarely using my desktop or laptop because everything I'd do on there I can accomplish on my phone. It's become rather integral to my day to day activity.
I'm probably a heavier user than most people, so my battery life is rather flimsy. I can drain the battery easily in half a day, but I keep push on, keep the brightest relatively high, and am always tinkering around with it. I bought this pack of 2 batteries and an external charger for about 20 bucks off of eBay, so I'm never without a fresh battery so it's not a big deal for me, but it would have been nice to have better battery life.
One of the biggest glaring faults is the touch screen sensor used in this phone. When I see the term superphone, I don't expect to find out that previous generation, inexpensive components are used. As it stands now, the sensor gets confused when two touches are put on within 15mm along the same axis. What this means is that for games where say a virtual stick and buttons are along the same axis you will have input issues because it'll read as one straight line rather than you moving the stick up while pressing fire.
It's something you can look up on the internet or youtube. It's been talked about quite extensively. It's definitely the biggest detractor for me. It's fine for browsing and pinching, but if you game keep that in mind. You'll also occasionally find some weird inputs in general at random, especially if there are a lot of finger prints on the screen, or if you're holding the phone with one hand and you try to reach across the screen with your thumb. All in all it's poor form to use such a lame sensor, especially considering that phones generations before this one have better hardware.
But, I love the phone. It being a Google phone almost guarantees that it will be first in line for Android updates (Froyo?).
The pro's outweigh the con's, in my opinion, and it's a very nice phone. Froyo will make it an even better phone. As far as 3G, I don't have any problems. I've gotten at as high as ~2900kbps, which is a lot faster than I ever got on my iPhone or Tilt 2.
The only phone I'd take over this is the Evo 4G, because of the screen and the 4G. But from what I read the camera's actually better on the Nexus One.
Don't do it! Nexus is all hype. Keep looking, there are better phones on the market. I love my nexus, but it annoys me. It has stupid little quirks. I can't wait until my next phone.
With that said, if you still want it. Battery life is impressive and AT&T connectivity is decent in my area.
I just dumped my iPhone 3g for the Nexus one.
The out of the box Rom is crap, particularly if you need Exchange sync full support.
You need to unlock the bootloader and put a better rom on.
Once I switched to Modaco's R21 Rom and now trying some different Kernels, it does everything I need.
It is fast, stable, my coverage on ATT is still the same, no difference.
Maybe look at getting the HTC Desire, that will run on ATT right? There are versions out there you can get that will run 3G I thought.
Nexus is not all hype... obviously no phone is perfect but I didn't regret spending $560+ for this phone... if you root or not froyo will make this phone a great buy.

i guess the thing about nexus one is that it's going to be getting all the updates firsthand and a lot faster than almost all the phones out there. flash and the allegedly 450% boost in speed is something that i seriously consider.
i like the evo but i'm not sure if it would work with ATT's network.

I think the Nexus is the least hyped phone if you compare it to iPhone forexample. Especially since it's the Google phone.. you would belive it was hyped up and donw, but there was little publicity about it in my opinion. Just rumor talk and it suddenly was out for sale..

If all goes well, i'm ordering my nexus one tomorrow. You bet i'm excited. I believe the EVO only works for sprint.. but I may be wrong about that.

i'm really thinking about getting the nexus one. google store is closing down so i guess i have to make my decision real soon.
right now it's all about the software. i think x10 has a better overall hardware but the software is outdated and there are apps that do not support 1.6. plus flash is coming out for android and nexus one rooted or not will get it regardless. so the hardware for my x10 is impressive but without the software to make advantage of the x10 is kinda leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth. plus no multi-touch for x10, ever. another drawback...

I've been very very happy with my N1, much happier than my friends were with their iPhones when they first came out.
Im fine with mine. I can make it through the day on a battery although just barely on heavier usage days. This is all I have got out of any recent smartphone so charging nightly is situation normal to me. Mine has had no issues. Personally I have been quite happy with the N1, its been a pleasure to use and I have no problem with hanging on to it till the next thing comes along.
First off, I love T-mobile, had them since the Shadow came out, and moved up to the G1 when it was launched. They have the best customer service and most reasonable, and most clearly stated rates and bills. My employer recently offered to provide me with a smartphone from verizon, so my wife and I left T-mobile and our vibrants.
She hated her vibrant since day one, so I was always trying to defend the sammy phone and tweak/flash hers to make her happy. We settled on the most recent TW rom and continued battling the annoyances that comes with owning a vibrant. The phone has some great things going for it. It's very thin, and light (some call this "cheap" feeling, I love it personally). It has an awesome screen and will play a wider range of media formats than anything I've ever ran across. However, the lag, various different "lag fixes", random force closes, dropped data and voice signal, freezing and even random shutdowns were difficult to deal with.
I now have a Thunderbolt. It's big, heavy and thick. I don't have 4g in my area, so that's no gain, but it works. It works great, right out of the box. Then with a little effort (the rooting method is pretty lengthy) it screams. It has made me realize how much I was rationalizing my satisfaction with the vibrant.
On paper, the Vibrant should be better in my situation/location. Better GPU, smaller form factor, better screen (I still think 4" is the perfect size for a phone. 4.3" is pretty large in your front pocket), but truth is, it isn't. My advice is to sell it while you still can, and move on to something else. I have no personal experience with the G2, or MT4G, but they're both HTC phones, with plenty of support. My guess is they would do the same for you as my thunderbolt has for me.
Just to clarify, I have the upmost respect, and appreciation for the devs and contributors here. I appreciate their efforts, and do not intend to belittle any products they released or efforts they have made. My opinion, the Vibrant was crippled from the start, and they've done an outstanding job enhancing it. Thank you.
I feel you, if it wasn't superamoled i'd have sold mine already, I'll get a G2x maybe. Unbelievable how Samsung is not acknowledging hardware issue with gps
While I agree that the phone has its problems, neither I nor anyone else I know with a SGS variant (vibrant, fascinate, etc.) has THAT many issues. I waited about a month to flash this phone and while I was on stock the only problem I had that you mentioned was lag. After I rooted it got better but I never truly got a lag free experience until bionix 1.3.1. I'm guess you sold your vibrant before TW came out with that ROM, but in all seriousness it handles better than my cousin's Evo with CM7 on it.
The latest MIUI ROM is also quick as lightning to which I found very surprising considering its a.) a port and b.) non AOSP
I will admit though that Samsung has created an enigma with this phone. On paper this phone is easily the best single core smartphone on the market yet, on stock, it is much slower than the likes of older HTC phones. So for awhile I regretted not waiting for the MT4G, but the recent ROMs and kernels have really stepped this phone up to the next level.
bionix v1.3.1 is very laggy. that is the reason i switched to trigger. trigger was much ,ore stable and consistant. edt has greate roms personally.

If you still had your Vibrant, you would see how fast these new ROM's are.
I've used CM7 for a while, and considering that it's still buggy, it's AMAZINGLY fast. Only problem is, I need a stable ROM, and that's where Trigger 2.8.1 came in. I though it was horrible, but I installed it last night, and it's nothing but amazing. I can't wait to flash 2.9, it's supposed to be faster.
Bionix 1.3.1 is not laggy on my phone. Thanks to that rom I really love my vibrant now. People that have the same phone with stock software are left with their mouth open after I show them what their phones is cappable of doing.

I've loved my vibrant ever since I had gotten it. I may have stayed on stock for all of 3 hrs (literally) before I flashed my first ROM (Nero) and I've never looked back. I've never experienced lag and my gps (assisted, ofc) was always on point. I don't know if it had to do with my manufacturing date (10/10) or what but my phone has never given me issues (that I didn't cause it to give me and even then, those were easy to fix).
My husband got a good look at how fast and glitch free my phone on a ROM was running. After a few months of random reboots, complete crashes & a host of other problems running stock decided to give up and joined me in flashing a Bionix ROM and he's never looked back either. I will admit that his gps was a bit wonky too but that also changed when he installed Bionix. Now it does see birds but locks on just a little slower than my gps does which really isn't a biggie anyhow.
It really sucks that we have to put custom roms on our phones for them to really be powerful. I love my vibrant, but the constant problems it was giving would have made me sold it if it wasn't for Team Whiskey and other developers. I have Bionix 1.3.1 and Ive done the hardware GPS fix and now my vibrant is running the way it should have when I first opened the box. This wouldn't be so bad if Samsung would just support their devices a little more.
Im ready to move on. I have had a good time with my vibrant.
My wife has had a so so but she loves it.
Still we both have decided to leave tmobile as well and are excited to see the many options coming in may to june. When we plan to switch carriers.
I like sprint. Im not sure if verizon compares in price.
If it does I love the nfl and that may entice me to verizon.
I dont want the thunderbolt.
Im just waiting for the dual core nvidia phones.
I like the galaxy s2 and with the nfl...whew.
Im really going to look at the cost of the s2 on verizon lte. Im really intrested in that combo as well.
Still ive had alot of good times with my galaxy s.
But the signal has been completely unreliable since day one.
As where my was always very solid.
I dont know what I'll do with my galaxy s.
I have some kids who love media players.
I wonder what it would take to make a rom that would allow me to disable calling and let them just use it for that.

Over the span of 8 months I started with the Vibrant then sold it for the myTouch 4G only to selling it and buy the HD2 at bargin. But, in the end I sold the HD2 and found a Vibrant on craigslist for cheap.
I really liked the myTouch 4G it is fast and very functional, but the screen size was just too small. Plus there was a batch of myTouch 4G units that had washed out screens; I was fortunate to end up with a good screen. The HD2 is the most versatile being that you can run so many roms from a variety of OS's on it including a very stable gingerbread 2.3.3 running from the NAND. Plus the 4.3" screen is great for browsing. I would still have the HD2 today if it wasn't for the At&T buyout of t-mobile. I fetched such a great price on my HD2 and found a vibrant for sale for $200; I jumped on it. Why? The vibrant will work next year on at&t's network so I won't be forced into contract with at&t by needing to buy a new phone to work with their networks. I don't like at&t (nasty customer service & dropped calls) and I really hope the buyout is blocked.
Which leaves me with no clear choice of carrier. Verizon has expensive plans and lots of unexpected costs. Sprint is trying hard to be CDMA version of t-mobile and have my interest, but will they be able to survive with at&t and verizon? Currently, I am no longer under contact so having the vibrant will provide me some time before deciding to commit to a carrier while testing the waters with merger.
So if my thoughts resonate with you maybe holding on to the vibrant won't be such a loss.

I agree that every phone will have a few lemons. However, with my wife, we had 2, which we both had replaced with new ones. I kept my wife's on what I thought was the most stable roms (mostly TW, Eugenes, Master's and toward the end trigger) while I flashed mine almost daily. Still they both exibited the same flaws, reguardless on what rom they were on. I always wanted to try CM7, but I have to use my phone's GPS for work (construction, so I'm always traveling) so that and MIUI was out for me. If you like your vibrant, then I'm happy for you, it's got great potential. But if you were like me, and TRYING to like it, my advice is to sell it and move on. You'll be very happy you did.
The Vibrant is an interesting device (or rather, the Galaxy S series).
The Hardware is good. As a phone, they are perfect: GREAT reception/signal strength, and great sound in the earpiece/speakerphone.
For media they are good. The screen is nice and the speaker on the Vibrant is superior to any other phone I've ever owned.
However, the GPS and Software Performance/Stability issues just make it not worth it. Flashing a phone every day? Sorry, you are too patient.
The battery life also leaves much to be desired, and swings a bit too wildly.
The Lack of an LED Notification Light also became an issue (something the HD2/HD7 has), as well as the lack of a Camera Flash since I found the Vibrant not worth using to take pictures in some areas without great lighting (rinks, etc.). I also found it's 720p video recording produced grainy videos (which looked like watercolor paintings a bit on larger screens).
As a secondary device it's perfect, though. I just had to brush it aside and get something else to use as my daily driver.
After using a 4.3" screen so much, 4" just seems so small. I can hardly type on the Vibrant because I'm used to the better WP7 keyboard and larger screen size. Browsing is noticeably easier and the Vibrant's browser tends to lag on a lot of pages, anyways so that was a good change. A 4.3" phone is hardly much bigger than a Vibrant.
If you can barely fit a Vibrant into your pocket, then either you're severely obese or wear skinny jeans.
My next phone will be a sgs2. Currently im bored out of my mind so I just picked up a dell streak. Uusally when I flash a new rom it works nice for the first 2 weeks but as I add my usually apps it eventually becomes laggy. Trigger rom has givin me great battery life. After work im between 50-60% now(8-5) before with bionix I barely could make it home before dying. But my god has the lag become very noticeable. Im currently using the default launcher pro with only pure widget calender, dolphings bookmark manager, and extended power control on the homescreens.
Ive been flashing roms since Winmo and I find it fun. Going to a hd7 for a short period of time showed me how good an os can be. I love android but these manufacturers are killing the os. I dont know to the extent when I heard google is putting some locks on the OS, I said good for them. As much as people dont like HTC Sense, its the only launcher thats implemented well.
I love my vibrant. why even make these kind of negative threads, just move on and stop bringing down the forum....
I had a hd2, hated it... But didn't go there and dog it...
I think of these threads as eulogizing, rather than *****ing: the Vibrant, how great it could've been - shame it ended up the way it did (i.e. a poorly executed & supported product)....

After rooting and running Bionix 1.3.1 and Overstock 2.2.1 kernel, my battery life has gone through the roof, I haven't noticed any lag, and it runs better than ever. I do still have slight issues with GPS (it locks but then after a few navigation instructions she forgets where I am and starts giving me different directions) I couldn't be happier with the phone. I guess YMMV depending on what you use the phone for. I'm sorry for the people that have had poor experiences with this device because the SAMoled is just stunning.

On the software side TMO and Samsung fail, but then that's why there is XDA. Since the Frankin Twiz rom in Sept 10 there has been a great performing, stable rom. And, Since Nov there has not been battery life issues,

Ehh same here, I get bored easily, and the lag does become quite noticeable at times, switched to miui, and loved it for about a week, then got bored again.. currently attempting to trade my Vibrant for an hd2+100 on craigs ;] I'll surely miss it though!
Bionix was mentioned as being laggy. I've been running it for a week with no lag. Its been one of (if not the best) roms I've ever used.

Ya, the Sensation has some nice eye candy and naturally evolved features built in that currently require 3rd party apps on the N1, but it just didn't have that "Wow" factor for me.
Makes me proud to have a Sexy Nexy. It may be rare (I've yet to see another), a few years old and not as big as some of the others, but she's still got life, my friends!
The encouraging part for me, is the fact, I've yet to have the balls too root. So there's still a lot to look forward too for me.
You know what I'm gonna miss most about the Sensation? IT'S GOT TEETER!!haha, I'm serious. I love that little game.
wow if you returned to the n1, and on top of that you have not even rooted your n1, then wait till you actually root this thing! it becomes an entirely new device with a good ROM on it.

I just sold my MT4G after getting it to replace my semi-broken N1. Back to using the N1
I sold it because I wanted to get the Sensation, but now I'm not so sure after reading this thread and others in the MT4G and Sensation forums.
What to do? I cant rotate my screen or use camera with my broken proximity sensor, camera and led. so i am hurting and would like a new phone.
What would you guys do?
I tried replacing my N1 a few times before (MT4G, G2x) but they didn't quite cut it. The Mt4G just wasn't... better enough. I went through multiple G2x and none of them worked right.
I grabbed the Sensation and I am entirely happy with it. No issues so far after 2 weeks, and it does everything my N1 could do and more. Minus rooted things, which I do really miss. If I could just get SetCPU on the Sensation like my N1 I'm sure I'd have amazing battery life.
I had the Sensation for about a week, but just returned it today. Each device had one minor issue, which was just enough for me to go back to the Nexus. The performance increase wasn't really there, either, though I'm sure once they have root that'll be fixed.
I was on the Atrix but now I'm back to the Nexus One. I love this phone and the trackball. Nothing else seems to cut it. It's like a bad drug habit. Can't seem to let it go. Lol

Same here, I wiped my atrix and it boot looped. Unfortunately I don't have a PC and couldn't sbf flash. I'm gonna sell it as soon as soon the n3 comes out. Nexus for life

You other guys, have given me pause too. Atrix back to N1.. wow. I'm starting so see where you guys are coming from about wanting to go back to the n1 after selling this mt4g for a loss. Maybe it isnt too bad to buy a new N1 of ebay for $298 vs a more expensive phone.

No, no external contacts, but it does automatically go into a dock mode in the car dock, from what I've heard. People have said it responds to magnets, but I haven't experienced it personally. I haven't picked up a car dock yet cause I really can't find a good place in my car to put it. Same issue I had with my N1's dock, lol.

I have a G2x and love it. Running CM7.1 RC1 which was basically the same as what I was running on the Nexus One. The G2x does have some software bugs but CM7 fixed most of those.
Would I go back? Tough choice. I LOVED my N1. If I lost or killed my G2x and someone gave me a N1, I would use it without question and it would probably subdue me for a while.
The G2x is a pretty good upgrade from the N1. Tegra games are amazing and the touchscreen recognizes 10 inputs.
The trackball is missed when correcting typing but CM has a kernel based hack to light up our touch buttons for notifications.
I can see, using CM7 on N1 to CM7 on G2x, that the upgrade may seem dismal. I do, however, use the HDMI out and bluetooth gamepad for gaming.
If gaming isn't your thing then the Nexus One is still perfect.
Everyone who is returning the Sensation seems to not be giving any real tangible reasons for doing so. The OP lists not getting "wow'ed", but obviously that will always be subjective from person to person. downey_ryan had three devices each with a "minor issue" but won't list what they were.
For those of you downing on the Sensation, I challenge you to find some tangible reasons why the N1 is better than the Sensation. I'm not saying none exist; I just want to discuss them, rather than a "I hate the Sensation but won't say why" thread.
Anyway, a week and a half ago I sold my N1 and picked up a Sensation from Amazon. And you can tell by my signature, that this was NOT an easy decision! I've been a member of the XDA N1 community for quite some time
All throughout this time I have been absolutely dying for a larger screened phone (the Sensation is T-Mobile's first 4.3" Android), and the jump from 3.7" to 4.3" is already a HUGE enough reason for me to make the switch.
With the N1 having a larger bezel due to the trackball and HTC really minimizing the bezel on the Sensation, the total difference in pocketable device size is minimal. And compared to the benefit of such a larger screen, it is amazing. I can actually read a lot of text comfortably, and certain apps display a lot more content at once due to the qHD screen.
And this is not to mention the Sensation is even thinner than the N1 anyway. It's so thin and light that my coworker held it and said "You should put a case on it to protect it", and I already have a case on it (This one if anyone's interested.)
As I said, the screen size (and thinness, and lightness) is already a big enough reason but the lack of a trackball is actually quite nice. I thought I would miss it more, but the lack of a trackball makes the phone look sleeker, and makes it easier to put a screen protector on it to protect the entire face of the phone, buttons and all. Selecting text without a trackball is a bit more difficult, but the combination of Gingerbread's text selection tool and the qHD screen make it a non-issue. (And trackballs are a thing of the past anyway. Not a single new Android phone coming out has one, so it's best to used get used to not having one anyway.)
I admittedly missed trackball LED notifications for a few days. But then installed NoLED and instantly forgot all about them. It's much better because it displays notifications using the entire screen, which is more noticeable from far away (can configure to turn off via proximity sensor when in pockets etc to save battery), as well as repeated vibration/audio reminders (extremely helpful). If I had to switch back to the N1, I'd still use NoLED in a heartbeat.
Another huge issue is fixed as well, and that is that I can finally use multitouch everywhere without having the axes get flipped and sticking. And not to mention I can finally play all the games I couldn't play on my N1 with the much-increased processing power.
Sense 3.0 is very beautiful. Every person I've shown my phone to is instantly in awe in the first 5 seconds in just unlocking the screen, with the bouncing circle unlock and the carousel homescreen animations. I've had no issues at all so far with Sense, and I'm loving the Sense widgets, namely the photo album widget. I purchased LauncherPro Plus a long time ago, but I actually like Sense better so I have not yet had the need to use LP+ even though I paid money for it.
Speaking of paying, I sold my N1 for $200 (after the buyer's downward haggling) on Craigslist and bought the Sensation on wireless.amazon.com for $179, no tax, free shipping. So the cost was a no-brainer -- I actually made money
I would encourage everyone to make the switch. You would be surprised how fast the N1 sells on Craigslist. I literally posted in the morning, found a buyer hours later, and sold it right after work the same day. It's still a great device, and I probably could have gotten more for it (the buyer haggled down), but since I already profited from the switch and it sold so ridiculously fast, I didn't care too much.
Anyway, all in all, I am extremely satisfied with my upgrade. When the Hercules is finally announced (if ever!), I'll check into it , but for now I love my Sensation and the N1 before it. The funny thing is that I had a G1 before that. All three are HTC devices, so I guess no matter what device you pick, HTC has been good to me

1.5 years old and still keeping up with the big boys.
It'll be a while before anything really impresses us again. The fact is, the Nexus One was a well-thought-out device and includes most all of the features one needs in a very practical and elegant package. I don't want a bigger phone or another cpu core. 4G would have been enticing if the carriers didn't start capping the data plans and NFC will hopefully become accepted and I can quit carrying a wallet around, but until then I'm in love with this device.
One last thing, even with everything Google & HTC put into this phone, it wouldn't be half as great without the wonderful support from the community. Thanks guys!
I love my N1. I have a Defy, and a Desire HD also, but keep going back to the N1. Just the overall use, feel, and sexyness of it makes me want to use it. Plus it has the best call quality I have ever used. I like the Sensation's look/features. Reminds me of a bigger brother to the N1, but I just can't pull the trigger. My N1 does everything I need it to do, and I'm sure it can do a lot more, so no reason to stop using it. If anyone is looking for a new one here are some places to get one. All are T-Mo bands. The ebay ones are cheaper by a lot, but welectronics is a safe reliable place to buy. All are new in box. I bought an extra just to have. For $260 it's cheaper than my original insurance with $150 deductible and $10 a month payments over the life of the phone.

Like the title says, I'm ready to upgrade and I want to hear from those of you that came from the Evo LTE. Do you have any regrets? Is the phone a beast? What roms do you recommend? I've been a long time MeanBean user all the way back to the Evo 3d and would love to find a rom similar to Mikeyxda's style. I almost jumped ship to Verizon but LTE is getting more common in my area so I will stick it out with Sprint for one more contract. Anyway, if you have any advice for someone that has had an HTC phone for the past 8 years that will help with the transition to a Samsung device fire away!
Me! Also had the EVO and 3D.
Not really too bad of a transition... The first thing you'll notice : the screen is much dimmer. I'd venture to say half as bright with auto. Touchwiz doesn't take much getting used to. Cartoony as hell, but you'll appreciate the little things, such as a robust music player, alarm and quick settings. Lightflow is my new favorite app. Customizable vibration intensity and a robust notification light are nice.
I did! The things I realized are that:
- HTC's camera app is SO much better. Burst mode is much more robust on the Evo
- The low-light on the Evo is better
- Build quality on the Evo is once again better, and I miss that kickstand. The phone felt much better.
- And as stated before, I'm gonna miss the IPS screen, it was much brighter.
Other than that, I really do like the S4, but I don't think it was THAT much of an upgrade from the Evo LTE.
I had the EVO3d for two years, then the EVO4gLTE for two years, and now the S4 for for one month.
Im not picky with a lot of things, and just want great usage out of a phone. I like being able to listen to music, watch movies, internet,
phone, storage, play a few games, text and take everyday pictures.
The S4 was a piece of cake to root and rom compared to my HTCs. The bigger screen is great, and I think its just a clear and bright as my
HTCs were. Ive already got about 20gbs of stuff on my ext sdcard, and Im glad I dont have to worry about not having a slot, like the HTC One. PIctures are clear and crisp, but I do think low light stuff isnt great, but its fine for my use. Build quality doesnt matter to me, as I have had a hard slim case on it and it hasnt come off one time, so I dont think b/q matters. I do miss the kickstand to watch movies. Battery life is all day and Im getting at least 3 hours of screen time during that. It is fast. I have dropped it once, from a height of about 2 feet, and besides a nick in the side nothing broke. Videos play fine and look fine. Sound is loud, and although the One is definately better, the S4 is still really good.
I am completely satisfied with it.
Another from the 4GLTE here, and a long line of HTC phones before it. Wife's S3 convinced me to try Samsung as it constantly dusted my Evo for ANY kind of data connection. And I've not been disappointed. Blows the HTC out of the water for crisp, clear pictures. And no more HTC tint!!
I am really impressed with how it always gets the job done, and very quickly. No more long waits for data to load, and on the same networks. It's so nice to finally own a phone that does what it's suppose to do, everytime.
I came from the EvoLTE...I also had the OG Evo from day one also. This is my first ever Samsung phone..I didn't really like it at first, I almost traded in back in and got the the htc one but I thought i was being too premature. I have noticed that the lighting on this like said before is a lot more dimmer so that takes some getting use to and a little bit harder to see when your outside in the sun.
This does have a lot of nice features and the camera is 5star to me. I just really wanted to try something different. I'm not dissatisfied with the phone but I'm sure I won't be fully happy until the development gets really up and going and there are tons of new mods and roms to try out. It has been slow starting out but Im keeping my fingers crossed it picks up!
I too came from the LTE. I think, overall, the S4 is much more snappier than any HTC I've owned out the box with minimal tweaks. The build quality isn't as bad as some are making it out to be. It feels good in the hand and once you throw a TPU case on it, it has the same feel as an LTE with much more under the hood. The Devs for this device are well known in the Samsung community and they've pretty much cracked every issue we've had to date, which was only with the current update. As far as a Rom like MeanBean, I haven't flashed any yet. I've just rooted, flashed a custom Recovery and been running the stock Rom. I haven't found a rom that offers what I want just yet but there are a few to choose from. Trust me you won't regret this purchase. The camera and video camera blow the EVO out the water and I SWORE by that thing.
Haven't gotten it yet, but I will be this weekend. My main reason is the sd card and better signal. I can't stand the fact that my wife's viper gets better lte than my flagship EVO. The plastic doesn't matter because I always have a case on it and there are a good amount of options for cases and screen covers. With listening to bluetooth music all day it will be nice to have spare battery to pop in. Hopefully the bt signal will be much better than my EVO as well. I'm kind of excited for a change as well I've had the Hero, EVO, 3d and lte.

im thinking of switching from the LTE to the s4 but i love viper roms customization too much, seems like their currentlty arnt many rom options for the s4, and yes i know it hasnt been out long and thats one of the reasons
I came from the evo LTE also.
Been real happy with the S4. I get 4G much more reliably at my house with it.
My only complaint is that the USB connection to my computer seems much less reliable. With the evo, you could leave it plugged in and go to recovery/bootloader/back to system, wherever, and it would always be connected. Frequently with the S4, I have to unplug it and plug it back in for the computer to recognize the phone again. Not a big deal though. Seems to be worse on my XP laptop vs. my Windows 8 desktop.
My screen doesn't seem that much dimmer, never really have a problem seeing it outside.
And lastly, there is not a whole lot of rom development yet, but it is ramping up :good:

Well, I did it! My shiny new S4 is rooted and TWRP 2.5.03 is installed. I'm going to play with it for a while before I install a custom rom. Right now I'm waiting for my stock rooted backup to complete so I have a starting point if I run into problems.
