In case you need to revert for warranty service or just for fun.
Taken from a never before booted unmodified unit. Enjoy!
http://www.4shared.com/file/T0ekY2XN/mytouch_slide_factory_nandroid.html
Note: These instructions assume a certain level of technical skill considering if you have the need to revert you have already rooted and flashed your devices at least once. Ensure you have flashed the factory version of the radio and splash1 partition prior to returning to this image for everything to be factory (note: splash1 can currently be nothing other than factory as there is not an SPL with security off at this time).
1) Unpack these files to your phones sdcard in to a directory named: clockworkmod/backup/factory
2) Boot in a ClockworkMod Recovery
3) Select wipe data/factory reset
4) Select nandroid; restore; select the directory named factory ; wait for restore to complete
5) Reboot
thanks for this. but noob question here: if i ever root & go flashin roms all willy-nilly, how would i apply this?
Nice. Thanks.
Thanks man, I'm gonna keep this saved on me PC for that "just in case" moment you might need it haha. Appeciate it.
Curious if anyone has performed a nandroid restore with the Slide via the stock/clockwork recovery method. My thinking here is if a nandroid restore is possible, with this backup we can return the phone to an absolute un-rooted stock state. Is that correct? Any insight is appreciated.

If you flashed the engineering rom make sure you apply the Newest_Slide_Radio.zip that ChiefzReloaded posted, that is the stock radio. The nandroid backup does not contain the radio.
Interesting, 3 posts asking for clarification and the OP provides unsolicited clarification for someone simply posting a thanks.
Thanks for posting the Nandroid files.
Im going to try and do a nandroid backup using this, but not until tuesday of this coming week (when i will be returning the phone to Best Buy ;-) )

Are you giving up the Slide or are you exchanging? If you're moving on to another device and won't be around much anymore just wanted to say thanks for your contributions while you were testing out the Slide.

Sorry, i've been busy today. I do have time for quick comments but i haven't had time to explain things in detail. If no one steps in to answer i'll answer the detailed questions tomorrow.
Update.zip?
How do i restore this backup, rename it to update and flash from the normal recovery, i have a mix of the original rom and the engineering rom preventing root (lost clockwork by not installing the SU.apk during the Eng flash). i need to take it back, anyone out there???

I did a restore on my engineering flashed unit this morning with this image and clockwork recovery. Everything is back the way it should be, boots right up in to a never before used phone with all version numbers the way they should be.
Now I have to root the thing again!

You need to get in to clockwork recovery, which is currently loaded by the update.zip you use to root your phone. Once you are in there you select nandroid and restore, then flash these backup images to your phone.
If you get to the point you need to do it I would be happy to provide more detailed instructions!

You need to get in to the Clockwork Recovery to restore this. Follow the directions in the root how-to, when you apply that provided update.zip that is what gets you in to clockwork recovery.
Copy these files on to your sdcard (first, before anything else), get in to Clockwork Recovery, select nandroid, select restore, and point it to these images.
ok this sounds totally noob but I'm not sure what you mean by "point it to these images"

Thanks for your efforts. Definitely appreciate your research and testing.
I have perm root with S OFF but have come in to quite a problem. I am having problems with the screen flickering on and off and need to exchange the device. The problem is, the nandroid backup that I made is inaccessible, and I have removed most of the stock apps off the phone.
The SD card I created the backup on seems to be corrupt, I cant even get it to mount anymore on my PC. Is there anyone that created a full nandroid back that can point me to the file (be willing to share)?
I have searched everywhere and can't seem to locate one.
Thanks for the help!
why don't you just use the "Downgrade ROM and Radio from OTA to Stock" thread?
Edit: Oh, and this is the wrong place for your thread also. Prob should go in general or Q&A.
The downgrade rom won't work w/ S-Off I don't believe. I would also a appriciate a nand backup, just the system.img if anyone has one to share.

Also, the OTA update will not be received again if you do the downgrade.

Are you asking for a NAND backup of the 2.2.1 stock rom?
If so, I'll see if I can't make one for you tonight when I get home. My work's internet connection is pretty crappy and it would take forever and a day to upload.

Take a look at this thread. It has the link to the official RUU and the install instructions.
This should get you back to stock, although I have not tried it yet. I grabbed it just in case I would need it.

And as mentioned in that thread, nobody who has followed that process has received the OTA update after having reverted back to stock.

unremarked - If you could upload the NAND backup that would be great. Thanks in advance!
As you should know if he's returning his phone he doesn't need to receive the OTA anymore. Just follow that thread. I had a rooted white one restored and took it back to get a black one. That's much easier then trying to use someone else's backup.

He said he was returning the phone, so receiving the OTA is not really necessary.
Those instructions explain how to get it back to stock, as requested.
OEM stock is 2.2. Post first OTA update is 2.2.1
I would not mind getting a hold of that, as it would make it easier to possible get the 2nd OTA (about which I have read nothing about what it does).
Also wondering if anyone has lost root and rerooted after the 2nd update.
So I am absolutely fail.
On my first device, I guess I had just froze the bloatware apps rather than deleted them because they were restored after a factory reset before I returned it to the store.
On this one, I actually deleted the bloatware apps and they are permanently gone, factory reset doesn't bring them back, and I didn't do a Titanium backup until after I had deleted them off. ><

I did the same thing. I hope someone will post the factory rom with all the .apk files that I could install. The only one i've found is the rom without the OTA.
I actually need a 2.2.1 nandroid as well. Could someone please post one?

Hey guys, about a week or two ago, I went to a T-Mobile store to upgrade to 2.3.4. I have been looking into rooting and loading CM7, but im not sure how to do it and what is the best way. I was thinking about doing it with ADB, but im just too chicken to try it. I can't afford to break this phone, so i have to be really careful. If you have any other better ideas as to how I could root 2.3.4, that would be awesome. Also, if you have found any way to unbrick it if it gets bricked somehow in the process, that would be great too. I am an experienced hacker, and am working on starting to develop apps for Android and Apple. Thanks guys, I really need your help.
There is no root for 2.3.4 yet

Just want to note that that guide is not the solution for all Gingerglaciers. Some devices (mine included) cannot make it past the first step due to 'permission denied'.
Who else is in the waiting line for rootage?

This says nothing about the quality of the solution, but rather means that you're not executing the guide correctly.

Just in case you all start getting condescending about people not pulling through successful with Ultimate Guide Deluxe. I am not doing it wrong and chances are I know a tad more about this process than you.
There are always chances. On the other hand, chances often lie. Read this:

From post 62 downwards.
Then you can count your chances again, or post here about how you and some others missed the obvious.

I am. I'm not well versed enough to do the downgrade-via-ADB thing. All I want to do is temproot, freeze the bloatware on the stock 2.3.4. I'm not interested in flashing a ROM or having permanent root. From what I understand, this isn't possible without downgrading.

No, it isn't possible. You have to downgrade and install pre-rooted 2.3.4.
It's not really that hard. You could start by trying to set up ADB, and if you get a working environment - you'll know that you're good to go with the guide.
Sorry to raise a dead thread, but I was just wondering if anyone had come across a 2.3.4 root method. I am trying to root my fiancee's device and seem to be getting nowhere.
Apologies also if this has already been addressed.
Thanks guys =]
The rooting method for 2.3.4 involves downgrading to 2.2.1. That's the way it has been, that's most probably the way it'll stay, for a long time, possibly indefinitely.

Hi guys,
I'm freaking out. Rooted my Xperia Arc (didn't unlock bootloader) and after following the guides, decided to remove a few apks from the system/app folder, and moved them to the SD card.
After playing around, decided to hit factory reset... big mistake. The phone is almost fully functional, but home button isn't working and there's no lockscreen.
I figured I just had to get the files back to the initial place, right?
I finally managed to get them back on system/apps... but even after that, when I factory reset it again, it still not working. It looks like the "factory reset rom" got screwed and won't go back to normal.
I'm lost, what should I do? I've had the phone for like, 3 days. I don't really feel like unlocking the bootloader or getting another room.
What can I do?

And do I need an unlocked bootloader for that?
THANK GOD!!
I made it work!!
The problem was in the permissions: the permissions on the files that I had copied were different than all the others.
I just ticked the permissions for all the itens, did yet another factory reset and it worked!
Thanks a lot!!
you dont have to unlock.
just download sony ericsson update service (SEUS), follow on screen instructions, and reflash it.
and download cwm recovery and make backup before doing anything with your system file.
So first off im gonna start off and say that I dont really care about being rooted in the first place. I thought id be flashing a lot more stuff but It turns out that I never flashed anything. So on my phone as of now I just have root and I have twrp installed onto it. I did that process to take off the custom recovery status from using motochopper as well. Now my problem is that every time i try to take the ota I get booted right into twrp and then i am unable to take the update. I even downloaded the zip file and tried flashing it and I just get a failed message. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Or point me into the right direction so i can uninstall twrp so I can take the update?

Like axman said, flashing with Odin to stock nothing gets deleted. If you do a factory wipe, everything gets deleted.
You could also try to update with kies instead of ota. Maybe that will work.
The problem is not that you removed root you still are using a custom recovery you need to get back to full stock use odin to get the phone back to full stockso you'll have a stock recovery
