MDJ's builds work perfectly for me, 3g, WiFi, Navigation & Camera all work for me.
They all worked on Darkstone's too for me.
My advice would be stick with WinMo if you're not happy with what's on offer
Get mattc's 1.8 and hastarin 8.1. With Chucky ROMs this runs smooth like butter. And everything is working.
sounds like force close issues due to trying to restore data from other builds? or leftover data being picked up off the card causeing corupted files.
all the builds you mentioned are pretty reliable builds, that leads me to belive issues lie on your end.
if it was me?
id do a full format, not the quick format in windows. better yet, do it in gparted! a linux machine will do a much better/cleaner job.

Ok...well I'm not talking about gsensor freezes and data freezes....
But I've noticed that after running android for a while ...sometimed after I take it out of sleepp...thephone becomes sluggish and basically unresponsive ...I'm using chuckysrom and 2.12 radio...swiping thru screens produces lag....could it be the micro SD? I'm using the 16 gig that came with the phone...all suggestions are wellcome
Just try a fresh build, rom flash, radio flash, task 29.
I think these minor problems here and there are a result of community developed android on a windows mobile handset. Every build has somebody with any one of the few issues. For example one of the above posters said he had issues with shubCRAFT where I have had no problems with that build.
I am looking for a clean useable ROM.
I have tried a few now and cannot find one that works well enough to use day to day, the nearest i have had to a useable rom is mdeejay_froyo_HDv.3.4.1, however typing is useless and all over the place. I logged it but go no answer or fix suggested so I had to ditch it.
I have tried other roms who dont have problems with typing but they have all got there own issues, for instance, some dont pickup you sim contacts, some dont have internet configureable, some just are just too darn ugly to use.
dont suppose anyone can recommend anything for elegancia GTX wwe - 11/6/2010 - radio 2.10
I'm using hyperdroid without any problems. My requirements were a CM-based ROM, with a decent or good-looking theme and low lcd density (240 makes everything waaay too big imo), and hyperdroid has all this. Not too much bloatware either.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
The closest I've come so far is HyperDroid 1.6. It's ALMOST there. Occasionally, it falls asleep and needs a power cycle (pop out the battery) to bring it back to life. It also seems to persistently have trouble working with my bluetooth radio in the car. Playing audio works great, but it simply hangs if I get an incoming call or attempt to make an outgoing call.
Bluetooth is also somewhat dodgy with WinMo 6.5 so it might not even be Android's fault. The hardware is really nice so I'm hoping things will get better in a future release.
I have tried these, I cannot get any internet, doesn't seem to autosetup.
Try FroyoStone Sense v3.1, it works really well. I use VBNROM (minimal) and Radio 2.15.50 and it works just like a native android phone. Great Battery life too. Oh and you have to enter APN stuff manually, just google it.
I'm having quite good luck with Bangsters 1.5
Had to switch to rmnet because ppp connections were bloody useless. still having some slight data reception issues, but even with that a MUCH better experience than with my old cliq.
I've been using FroyoStone v3.1 with great success for a little while now, easily my most favourite and most reliable build I've found to date. Everything works, apart from the camera flash delay but that's pretty much universal on most recent (non-evo based) builds.
I'm testing Froyo HD at the moment and really quite like it, only problems I seem to be having could well be my fault (Titanium Backup might have replaced a couple of critical HTC components by accident)
shubcraft 1.5 is about as stable and complete as you are going to get. theres another 2.2 stock cm6 floating around too. however you would have to do something i know you hate. SEARCHING
FroyoStone 3.1 worked much better than others and seemed to be almost perfect for over a week. However, despite DarkStone's claims, by the end of the second week the screen freezes gradually came back, rendering the phone barely usable when walking. The PPP started getting stuck on upload more and more, adding to the problems list.
I should admit there's still no build that has all the functionality working flawlessly, unless you're willing to sacrifice some features, like camera, flash, G-sensor, PPP, music player, etc...
DARKSTONE=perfection

Mccm 2.5 SE . EVEEYTHING works and most important, it never freezes for me, data is stable like the hulk

cheers for all the advice everyone, managed to get FroyoStone Sense v3.1 working pretty well, still no camcorder though which is a shame.
Hello, i have attempted using the search function of this forum to see if anybody else has the same problem that i am having, so forgive me if this has already been discussed. If it has, please point me in the direction to a thread. If it has not been discussed, then any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
My HD 2 is running the latest energy rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784&highlight=energy+rom) and the version of android i run is MooMoo's rom based of Froyostone 3.2. My radio is 2.07.50.27_2.
I have no complaints with this combination. There is no robot voice, picture messages come in clear, everything is great. The problem i have discovered however is that whenever i try and use Launcher Pro (also tried ADW launcher), i get the sleep of death. If i uninstall these launchers, the phone works great. No SOD's whatsoever. If i reinstall and use one of these launchers, then the sleeps occur again.
Does anybody know what the problem could be? I like the way LauncherPro looks, its smooth as silk and i prefer it over the Sense UI, and if it were at all possible, i would prefer to use that launcher. If not, no big deal, ill just use sense, but if anybody could shed some light i would be greatful.
I have Energy 3.14 based GTX 2.5 WinMo ROM and Radio 2.15.50.xx. Before that I had 2.08 radio version with stock tmobile and my battery life in android sucked; than I switched to known good 2.12.50 radio - which was not that good for me; anyhow, I finally got all updates in and now my hyperdroid is running s m o o t h like no android phone on the market. Constant 3-6mA in stand-by which if changes, I uninstall apps I just installed as I found that news readers and power settings widgets, etc eat battery alive ... also, I do NOT have SetCPU installed.
HyperDroid 1.7 version I have is using mychprima's kernel that's OCd and UVd and it works like a charm. Never experienced SOD with or without using G-Sensor (which was known issue for older kernels I guess).
LauncherPro - well I do not think is the main reason for your SODs. I suggest that you get Energy ROM, Radio 2.15, Clean Froyo (not sense build) like shubcraft, hyperdroid 1.7, etc - and test it out then. Before you do all this DO FORMAT the SD card ... than post results here.
PS no worries this should take you about 45 minutes to do all this - and you are all set. I have been on my Android for weeks now without single force close or reboot
I have little doubt that your radio is to blame. Up the radio, freezes be gone.
J
well im attempting to use the hyperdroid as per your suggestion and i like it alot, but i have a gripe with the screen resolution. everything is too tiny, i would prefer to have everything back to stock size. how can i go about changing the resolution? i cant find a solution
EDIT:
Okay i figured out a way to change the screen resolution. Ill try to use this android build and the radio you have recommended and let you know how things are working out for me. thanks a lot
well so far so good. I am using your combination of rom/radio/android build and i havent had a single SOD. Using launcher pro also and it works like a dream. Although occasionally the touch screen will lag...which is kind of annoying, but not annoying enough to fully break using it. Thanks for the help!
Hey guys.. I love Android. I've ran so many different rom's and CM6 Nightly's n such on my Nexus One and I really love the phone. I love this HD2 also tho.
I've been using the HD2 with DarkStone FroYo for the last 10 Days or so. I must say I LOVE the HD2. It's a great phone, I love the screen and it's size, but hard buttons all being one piece of plastic was a bad move but thats about it.
Basically here's my issue. I have screen freezes that are a few seconds, or up to 10 allll day long. sometimes it will freeze and wont go into sleep mode for up to a minute (at least a few times a day) I lose my Data signal at least 10 times a day also. Sometimes it comes back, other times I need to Toggle Airplane on/off and my signal will come back.. Basically it's very smooth and awesome, then just craps. and this is extremely often and very random and it's starting to get very irritating. I wanna go back to my Nexus. I've also tried SkinnyEVO and had similar problems.. Are there any ROM's that are smoother and more stable, screen freezes and data drop-outs are really starting to irritate me knowing I wouldn't have these issues on my N1.
Should I wait for Nand to get going, should I try a few more ROM's. Is there fixes for these issues? Any info or suggestions would be great. I'd love to use this for a Daily phone, but in the current state it's a hard call.
Man Try MCCM 1.6 with updating kernel hastarin 8.5
it doesn't freeze at all.
everything work no bugs at all.
camera with zoom , face detection.
it is an awesome build
which radio u have and wim mobile u got ?
Darkstone has not updated his build for quite some time. Definitely try an updated build with latest kernels before giving up on the ole HD2. The touchscreen freeze has been eliminated with the newer kernels. I've been using the Motodroid build which has very good performance with the best working camera; no green tint, full 5 mp with working wide screen mode and shutter sound is selectable (which I have not found in any other build).
I don't know what MinMo build. I'll check, but I have the latest Kernel for the HD2. Kernel 2.15.50
I'll check what WinMo after work. Thanks for posts. I'll report back later
Do try a newer build, like the others said. I upgraded mine to hdone and replaced the kernels and i have yet to have my phone screen freeze. When i was using every other build with the old kernals, it froze all the time. Don't give up on your hd2 yet!
I think you have hit on 2 major issues the first screen freezes has been pretty much solved with the latest kernels with the g sensor fix. So try Hastarins 8.5 or mdeejays latest.
Second the data problems still exist but has been much improved with Letamas Ril Wrapper and other ppp tweaks ,see Letamas thread. if you try one of the newer roms they might have all above already in, so worth a try before going back to nexus.
I've been following Android on HD2 since August, and I've gone from all your problems and more to almost none (touch wood: my phone has begun to freeze today after three weeks of no problems - I'm hoping it's an installed app issue).
They are getting better and better and it's only battery life which remains an issue (for me).
Everyone's going to have different results depending on Radio/Location/Operator, but personally the MDeeJay Sense Revolutions (both types - Froyo and his other one), have worked very well for me, on Energy ROMS (currently the barebones one).
I can't promise Android on HD2 will always be flawless, but your two biggest gripes are certainly solvable on the right combination. (I hope!)
Change your SD card to a Class 6 and let us know.
Give up on the HD2, go back to the Nexus, send me your HD2
Scan my signature for my setup - I find it the best after changing at least 15 builds, 7 WinMo ROMs and 4 different radio combinations.
PS I am really stubborn guy, so that tells you that I've tried all possible combinations with above count of builds, roms, radios - and so far this one gives me what I want: HD2 with the Build that is smoothest and more stable than any Android phone I played around with so far... including nexus one
Thanks for all the information posted here guys. I appreciate it. I'll try mdeejay's latest and see how things go. (all of mdeejay's are Sense UI) I want stock Froyo
Another question. Can I copy everything from my Android Folder, to a New Android Folder for the new ROM I'm about to try, and have everything be exactly how it is now on DarkStone, or will that not work?

Titanium backup is your friend there. google for the wiki and read up on how to backup and restore.
Oh and if you don't like Sense, that's fine, just install whatever launcher you want, press the home button and it will ask you what launcher to use, tick the box for "use this by default" and sense won't come back to bug you. You can also remove the lockscreen slide by deleting the "HTCLockScreen.apk" via adb.
Just also to backup what others are saying, later builds like the one in my sig are far more reliable and useable, I get no data drops or any of the other problems you experience currently.
I know how titanium and all that works, thanks for trying to help though.
I just figured since everything is in the Android Folder, couldn't I copy it to another Android1 folder and boot to that build, and everything be there. but if not. It's ok. I'll just titanium backup everything instead.
I'm thinking about trying out BiffMod 1.2

You need to change you're SD card. I had gone through the same problem with A-Data class 4 sd card...but large waking times randomly spoiled the whole android experience....so much so that I gave up android...
But ever since I went back to replacement 16GB samsung SD card (which is ironically class 2) things have improved...and the phone wakes up instantly..
Also upgrade the kernel to hastarin v8.5.1 of ur build..it just solved all Data issues for me..maybe it will work for you too
I'm using the stock 16GB Class 2 Samsung that it came with. I have a 16GB Class 10 in my Nexus if we want to compare. but I'm not sure how large the SD class will really change things. Maybe a little.
I came to the HD2 from a Nexus.
I love my nexus... but wanted a larger screen.
Originally I had all the issues you commented... Id already sold my N1 so I really had to work on the HD2 working how I wanted it.
After flashing different roms, radio's, androids and kernels Ive finally landed where I am happy and in just the recent weeks with the tweaks the devs have done to their kernels my phone is rocketing and would never go back...
Only thing I do miss is the trackball and its colored notifications.
OP, you asked about overwriting your files, here's what I did...
I backed up my whole SD Card to my PC, so that I had my full working phone backed up just in case.
I then overwrite the contents of my old Android build with my new Android build, ignoring the data.img file.
Then re-booted, and Voila! EVERYTHING (apps, settings, wallpapers etc) came back, but my ROM was faster and smoother and upgraded.
This was switching from one ROM-maker to an entireley different one (both were Android 2.2 though).
If this had failed, I could have wiped my SD card, and made a choice between trying a fresh new Android, or using my SD Card back-up. If I'd had to go fresh, I'd know my Google Account would hold my contacts and purchased app settings. The AppBrain app is also useful in this regard.
Have fun!
im in a similar situation. i got me a secondhand nexus one, to try how android runs on a native device. i walked around with it for some days now, and i think im soon going back to my hd2, cause I CANT GET USED TO THE SMALL SCREEN ON THE NEXUS XD
really. not.
android on the hd2 runs almost as smooth as on the nexus one, i dont even cared in choosing the right build for my hd2, i just picked froyostone, and thats it xD
so yea, in the end, the only thing i really love on the nexus one is the awsome trackball, with its different colours :3 omg i want that on my hd2... ;(
i was having the freezing problem when i was using energy rom with the stock sd card when i flashed to the newest tmobile rom all of my freezing went away so if you have that problem try the newest tmobile rom it worked for me
Ok, so ive been using android since around july from the stock nexus one builds, and then found my sweetspot with the Froyostone series with darkstone, after trying several Desire builds(which all worked very well). But after reading about all the advantages of the desire HD builds i went ahead and tried MDJs Froyo HD build. After booting into android, it worked well for about 30 seconds, untill it completely lagged up and was barely usable, so i continued with the setup anyway and got to the home screen (which took about 20 mins), then restarted, but this did not help at all.
Hoping that it was just this ROM, i tried several others, MCCM SE v3.4 and phiremod ACE, all with the same problem.
I never had these issues with any previous builds, any help would be greatly appreciated!
(Also has this happened to anyone else? I didnt see any other posts..)
UPDATE: I changed my radio from 2.15.50.14 to 2.12.50.02_2 and it seems to be running a lot smoother. Will report back, if this is a proper fix...
Did you create a HTC Sense account?
If yes, then your phone will be synced with HTC Sense (means: all your settings like games, apps, whatever will be backupped).
This can take a while and causes lags on your HD2. Otherwise you can disable it in the sync-settings.
Try it. I use the Desire HD build and its the smoothest i ever had.
Yeah I used the sense account on the first desire hd build i tried, then on the second, i skipped all the sync settings, still really laggy
On the m-deejay build I noticed that my cpu was at 100% constantly....
I've seen that RADIO version makes a difference. I am not sure what it is though as it isn't consistent and related probably to RIL version.
Right now I am back to 2.15.50.14 with MCCM 1.2b3 and it's been playing nice.

thnaks for the heads up, im gonna try this radio
After a night of testing, and a radio change, its still REALLY laggy, i really have no clue what is wrong, because using that radio which you are using, "2.15.50.14" it is pretty much unusable.
I never had this problem with the regular desire builds,
I'm on duttys V8 WM rom if that helps? Whould that affect it in anyway?
try with defragmenting your mem.card..
try with Restore Factory Data from SD & Storage menu (it will not erase your data actualy)
format your sd card with SLOW formatting, 32kb clusters
install & boot android
when on lock screen, dont touch the phone for 10 minutes
reboot
when on lock screen, wait 5 minutes, then unlock and do the wizard
after the wizard dont touch the phone for 10 minutes
reboot
when on lock screen, wait 5 minutes, then unlock and wait 10 minutes
reboot
when on lock screen, wait 5 minutes, then unlock, wait 10 minutes and then.. enjoy your fast android.
Yes, it takes time, but it works.
