I just got the new OTA update. If we use the tethering or the wifi spot will we be charged extra?

To the people having this problem I had to go to sprint repair center to get it to work again I tried everthing and thought fudge it I guess I need a replacement after being with tech support about an hour... but when I went to the sprint store they fixed it and now I can update my prl and profile..

PRL, update errors on both our Epics. Also get no prl found.
So I've had this problem talked to about 5 reps and 2 repair centers later it seems that in order to get this fix we gotta pay $100 bucks or to get a replacemnt atleast :\ sprint is blaming eb13 on this but this started for me during the dk28 days

i actually think its EB13. i was having this same problem with my epic once i upgraded and rooted...then i swapped out my phone (thanks sprint) thinking it was the problem and i was able to update profile/prl without a problem. upgraded to EB13 and rooted again and now i have the internal or unknown error. so like someone on this thread said, "fudge it"
Happens on my rooted DI18 as well. I'd guess the problem is on Sprint's end--60677 is available but brand spankin' new.
My phone automatically updated the prl yesterday...it was weird. Never had that happen before.

still cannot update no matter the signal strength
I had the HTC HD2 with Tmobile and would wifi tether all the time. Heck, I was using it to wifi tether just last week.
Now I just got the Mytouch 4G and it doesnt work. I called Tmobile and they said I have to pay $15 a month. WTF? I am new to this phone so I wanted to know if anyone has a work around for this. I DO NOT want to flash a custom rom. I rooted and I'm happy, just need to wifi tether.
Thanks
They did this months ago. Just takes while to get busted. Mine still works. Theres a sticky some where here for a work around. Would give you a link but I'm using my phone to post.

Root and use the tether app at Google labs

Thought they blocked by detecting something in the data being sent/received? If what you posted works thats cool was just wondering because I'll be using it once I'm blocked

Have a work around. Wifi thether for root users. Its an app that works great and have been using it for over an hour now.

Have you ever been blocked? I know when I had my cliq xt using this app I was fine for about a month and they started redirecting me to the sign up data tethering page. There is something in settings you can change to avoid that page. The steps were here on xda but can find it now.
Let us know how it goes.

I've been using it for the past five hours with no problems

Did some reading. Guess there going off of usage. Like when I was using it with my cliq(thinking it was still free) I was a heavy user for a month got a text from tmobile saying it could be blocked with the right plan. 2 days later is when I got redirected to the sign up page.
So think as long as we don't over use it we can get away with not having to get the 15 add on.

Its been know that once you get over 5gb you get throttled and possibly forced to pay the 15 bucks I think

Barnacle wifi tether in the market if you are rooted. Works great. Use it every day.

I found a fix if that helps

I have a rooted mt4g and wifi tether was not working. Instead of istalling the new beta versions, install the old version for htc's only and it should work.
I'm just wondering, I am currently using the MT4G on the ATT network, but i'm wondering why they didn't detect its a smartphone and add the smartphone data plan. Is it because its rooted and S=off?
My sister has the Nexus One, which isn't rooted, S=on.
When she uses the internet, ATT detects she has the smartphone and adds the dataplan.
I'm using the internet every single day and they haven't detected anything so far.
Nice screw at&t

I'm using at&t also its been a month so far... no smartphone data plan yet... but I think it has to do with the imei number for your phone... I'm assuming at&t doesn't have tmobile mytouch imei's in the database.

I am new here to Aria and ATT. I was wondering if ATT can detect tethering on all Cusom Roms?
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
Yes... It's where the data terminates is how they can detect it. That and packet inspection.
I guess no one has figured out a way to stop detection like the devs on the cdma carriers.

ClockworkMod's new Tethering app is supposed to be undetectable -- although the app itself is not free (you can use it for a few weeks as a trial though) and it only supports USB tethering. Still might be worth a look: https://plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/1Yy1jb9z4TA
You won't find it on the Market though because AT&T has blocked it. You'd have to sideload it.
Thanks. Pda supposedly has a stealth mode. I wonder how good that is compared to clockwork?

my HTC Aria rooted and using CY7 (nightlies) tethered to a laptop and to an HTC tablet with AT&T service. Didn't do it much, but did use it on several occasions, never had an AT&T problem..

I just purchased a samsung galaxy s4 from the HTC EVO where I use to have the cyanogen 7.1.
Very nice upgrade if I don't say so myself.
I noticed in the wifi settings that there's the enable hotspot .
Is this free from sprint or is this something that I'll get charged from?
Regards
