has anyone tried this yet? im really wanting to run the Sense rom.
I'm wondering too. The new sense looks awesome

Yeah, I'd love to try sense out until Cyanogen cooks us something. I'm just gonna wait for someone to modify it, cause I'm guessing if we go ahead and use their .img file, it'll overwrite our radio and that's when **** hits the fan.

Sense on the g2 would be very awesome to try. But for me vanilla android ftw

idk if we can right now. The senes roms r signed but idk if thry will flash on the vision recovery. But once we get a custom recovery we are all good to go

You won't, the update doesn't exist on Google's servers anymore. Download the 1.6 package. Google is your friend.

Anyone?

Just do it manually. 1.6 has 2 parts, then you'll be ready for 2.2
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using XDA App
By manually do you mean root again? I found a thread on xda for the stock mt3g 1.6 rom and when I loaded it the phone showed model number 'T-Mobile G1' which obviously won't work for the 2.2 update.

No u don't have to root its for stock

How come in the mt4g we have to flash an updated recovery in order to flash a gingerbread rom and the g1 and evo users don't they can just flush any rom using always the same recovery?

Because the mt4g and the g2 are totally different from the old htc phones internally. Someone might Wanna go into more detail, but that's the bare fact
I'm having trouble finding - is there a "pure as possible", pre-rooted only, repack of the Panache ROM for custom recovery? Over at HoFo there are some Mobilicity users who bought an MT4G because it's cheaper, and they want the same experience as the Panache. I figured the best way for them is to get Radio S-OFF on the MT4G first, and then flash the Panache ROM from custom recovery.
RoyalPanache 1.2.

Seems like that one has still been tinkered with, and includes apps not very useful to CDNs like Netflix, T-Mo Wifi calling. Is there just a pure repack with as close as possible to NO mods at all except pre-root?
So your looking for unbranded sense? RoyalPanache is as close as you'll get. If your that picky you can just go in and delete the apks from the system/app or data/app directory. Not trying to be a douche or anything just don't really feel like elaborating haha

I'm looking for a repacked version that is 100% the same as the Panache RUU, except it's an update.zip instead of a RUU. I don't see any technical reason why that should be impossible, but it could be that nobody has thought to make it yet.

yeah yehh i know what you mean im using a stock panache rom but iv used the RUU. but i think a user has posted a stock rooted ROM. search the forum

Help?

This page should have all your answers. If you're looking to use sense ROMs, I recommend changing to the DZ hboot as it is necessary to run newer Sense ROMs (3+ i think).

Assuming you know adb well...
Yes, you have to downgrade it first then root it. I suggest you using these guides here at cyanogen for downgrade and root
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread)
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Rooting
Reason: The web page it self is a heck shorter than the one at XDA.
Just please click the thing it read it, it's short.
Once you have done these things you should have rooted Froyo with CWM Recovery 3. While it's an adequate version I suggest you update it first (Play Market to the rescue) then do an Nandroid backup, just in case.
One thing you need to know: When you're in CWM Recovery, you need to press the trackpad to select options.
Now you have to get a Desire Z Hboot. I recommend this guide
http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
Once you have the Desire Z Hboot, you can use Sense ROMs. Stable ROMs would be any GB ROMs (the Desire Z/ G2 is pretty well-supported here), like this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401560
Hope this helps.
Thank u very muuch. Ill be doing this in an hour. And are there any other sense roms??

There is a whole development section for you to look through here.
For someone who has 1500 posts you really want your hand held.

There is not much need to install another ROM really. I mean, I too love custom ROMs but to he honest, the ROM that comes in with the G2 is really good, lighting fast, smooth and customizable.
The only thing you'll need to do will be to remove any bloatware Verizon has pre-installed.
On the T-Mobile version there's only one custom ROM (basically a clean version of the stock)
There has been not much dev activity yet, but I hope to see improvements soon, specially once the N5 comes out. So they say.
Cheers!
I have the AT&T G2, but I highly recommend TWRP recovery. I had always used CWM prior to this device, too, but I'm not sure if you have to add the Loki exploit to bypass the bootloader with CWM. TWRP has the exploit built in as best I can tell.
