How come in the mt4g we have to flash an updated recovery in order to flash a gingerbread rom and the g1 and evo users don't they can just flush any rom using always the same recovery?

Because the mt4g and the g2 are totally different from the old htc phones internally. Someone might Wanna go into more detail, but that's the bare fact

Currently there is no official support for the Shift from Koush (the guy who does CWM). Apparently it is in the works however.
YOu can use ROM managers, but you can't use it to directly install a recovery. There are some hurdles to jump over and hoops to jump through in order to do that.
See this post for directions to use it to flash recovery (but this is only AFTER perm-rooting the phone)

Do a search for pd15img.zip.

Look in the development section. There are a ton of step by step guides if you search.

To revert back all you need to is flash the original tmobile rom that is in the rom development and it will take u back to the original state without root

Find the above file, have it saved to root of sdcard, boot into bootloader, bootloader will find the file on the card and prompt to install the stock image... follow prompts and done.
Nandroid first but really is easy.

I first flashed the 2.2.1 OTA. Then I flashed the stock recovery. Afterwards, flashed the stock radio. That's what I did. All are available in the Development section.

You could have used pd15img.zip to do all of that in one flash via hboot.
It's safer to flash back to the stock radio first to avoid getting stuck in a limbo situation in which attempting to flash back to stock results in "Main version older" with radio s-on rather than do it all in one step.

This guide should solve your problem. It involves hex editing the misc.img among other things to allow you to successfully flash back to stock.

If you used the gfree method of rooting, the following guide is pretty good:

Hope this helps.

+Request+ MT4G (leaked / official) RUU exe not zip.

anyone got official or non official MT4G RUU exe file not zip. 911htc had that but before i get that it went offline.
even the leaked GB Mytouch RUU if in exe is welcome.
This shouldnt be in dev section. Anyway check this thread for panache leak-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1074355
This is the older build. I uploaded the latest build here-
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27089286/RU...60.25_26.09.04.26_M_release_188466_signed.exe
no i want glacier MT4G RUU.exe not panache's.
official RUU -> froyo mytouch ROMs
non-officvial -> Gingerbread leaked mysense ROM.
What do exes of these do? Do you plug your phone in and run them?

I haven't seen that exe. There is a pd15img which you can flash through bootloader and it will overwrite everything (radio, bootloader, recovery, Rom etc).

but also i think it make you go from higher ver ROM to Lower version ROM unlike the bootloader type flashing as someone told me here you cant go back to lower version if u have no root or S-off.
(saying this cause i have done it in past on my windows mobile days.)
Anyone ever get this?
Really want the RUU EXE for the myTouch 4g

[Q] Do I have to update my my touch 4g to flash a rom?

Because I'm running on a rooted 2.2.1 phone. I followed gfree's ultimate root and now I want to flash a mod , so do I have to update my software?
Anyone ?...........
You can just start flashing. You're already set. Just make sure you boot into recovery and make nandroid of your current rom. Might want to update recovery through rom manager before anything though.

This page should have all your answers. If you're looking to use sense ROMs, I recommend changing to the DZ hboot as it is necessary to run newer Sense ROMs (3+ i think).

Assuming you know adb well...
Yes, you have to downgrade it first then root it. I suggest you using these guides here at cyanogen for downgrade and root
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread)
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Rooting
Reason: The web page it self is a heck shorter than the one at XDA.
Just please click the thing it read it, it's short.
Once you have done these things you should have rooted Froyo with CWM Recovery 3. While it's an adequate version I suggest you update it first (Play Market to the rescue) then do an Nandroid backup, just in case.
One thing you need to know: When you're in CWM Recovery, you need to press the trackpad to select options.
Now you have to get a Desire Z Hboot. I recommend this guide
http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
Once you have the Desire Z Hboot, you can use Sense ROMs. Stable ROMs would be any GB ROMs (the Desire Z/ G2 is pretty well-supported here), like this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401560
Hope this helps.
Thank u very muuch. Ill be doing this in an hour. And are there any other sense roms??

There is a whole development section for you to look through here.
For someone who has 1500 posts you really want your hand held.
