Evo market, Sync issues all day... - EVO 4G General

On my evo all day i have had market and gmail sync issues...killing my battery...Anyone else? I also cannot access appbrain by signing in...

No issues here. I have been able to sign in to gmail, check mail, download stuff from the marketplace and access appbrain.

Just wiped phone and now gmail doesnt import contacts...cant connect to server

I have had the same problems even facebook was not loading right. I am in Ohio dont know about you.

I'm having issues loading websites and everything data related. Sluggish and all.
I called sprint and supposedly HTC released a statement about issues with the Evo they are currently working on (maybe some validation/sync server issues?).
However, I couldn't coorolate why HTC issues is causing problems with the evo connections, but they got an email saying this.

i loaded a new rom today and had the same issue with the Market, it stopped downloads half way. But it fixed itself after a few minutes of letting it sit idle.
how long have u been having the issue? if not for too long, i would just let it sit for a few minutes.

You all aren't the only ones. I've been experiencing this all day in Kentucky. Girlfriend has the Pre and hasn't been seeing the issues. I thought it was just my phone because I flashed last night's Cyanogen nightly. Hopefully they fix this soon.

Ahh crap I thought it was because I flashed the new .35 cm6.1 kernel.
Browser been slow, having sync issue...everything is funky

Same problems here in South Florida all day!

EVO data is down for mobile or is spotty(per sprint)...I just used WIFI to download all of my stuff.

When it finally did work I noticed that the EULA for the market changed today. I am guessing Google is getting prepared for the GingerBread launch and changes will be coming to the Market

But I Call Sprint They Was Talking Bout That last Update They Its Not Playing Nice With Evo Messing Up Hope This Is Fix Soon

I know it isn't your Rom Myn. I'm on it. Data is still down though... spotty in south Fla

I haven't had any issues - Orlando, Fl :dunno:

I've been having issues the past two days. Market is extremely spotty, mobile data as well and I haven't even tried facebook but I'm guessing its the same.

Talked to a Sprint rep here in South Florida. He said there is an issue with all Android devices. I'm still having this issue. Anybody else?

no such issues to report here in Atlanta. this must be either isolated to certain locations or a combination of custom roms and location?
i briefly experienced problems with the market right after flashing the sprint lovers rom, but that only lasted a few minutes. have not had any problem since.
anybody else in the ATL area having issues with the market?

No Google on TMO USA GPRS?

For some reason, I cant get to ANY google website when I am using GPRS/EDGE on the Tmobile USA network.
No Google Search, Gmail, Maps etc.. Nothing. Any other website works. When I try to access a google site, it locates, and then stalls on "opening". It happens in PIE, Opera, MiniMo.
When I use Wifi, I have no problems. It only doesnt work when using GPRS.
This is on the Tmobile USA network, with a vario and stock tmo rom (1.8.10.2)
WTF?
Try this link, does it work?
http://www.google.nl/pda
I have the exact same problem. It's very weird and VERY annoying.
Sorry, for some reason this double posted. Good way to start my posting here on this forum
I've had my Tmo MDA for a month now & never have gotten anymore than "page cannot be loaded" with google. WiFi works same as yours.
Dont know if it helps but..
* I can get to google using the phone as a modem for my laptop.
* If I use the MSN proxy (go to vista live beta, search for google, choose the mobile version) this works
* I wonder what other sites dont work but should
* rom is what the unit shipped with. Registry unchanged exept for bumping the cache in a few places for speed.
lastly, check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...ghlight=&sid=494a2df12b48a1e8fdca8ae0e7bfb752
I have the same problem. The thing is it worked for the first week or so. I bought my MDA the day it was available on Feb 21. Would T-Mobile have somehow blocked it a few weeks later? I will say I am running the Custom 2.17 ROM, but I have had this problem before and after the ROM upgrade.
Tried google.nl
I actually got to the google page, but searches dont work. Either does gmail, image search etc.. etc.. etc..
This is really annoying. I use gmail for all of my mail, and google for ALOT of stuff, without it. I am lost
I have had my KJam since November, used google.com/pda in the past many of times especially the GPRS, but I mainly work from home on my wifi. Today I noticed I could not get any thing to come-up on google while using the GPRS, with a timed-out error message. It sounds like we may all need to inundate tmo's wireless group with calls to get them to fix something on their network end of things.
Before we storm the castle
What locations are you in? Could it be a timing issue with whatever your access point/tower is and Google itself?
I just tried from the Eastgate neighborhood in Bellevue, WA using my T-Mobile MDA and was able to do a couple of quick test searches on Google (using the www.google.com/xhtml and /pda URLs) and completed each search successfully.

I'm in NYC.
Try Mobile Leap at http://mobileleap.net/mobile. It's a simple interface to a bunch of search engines and I was able to get a return from google using it via the phone.
Great idea markgamber! That works great!
Mine works ok. Im in Florida, usa. Thanks for the search site though...
Click the thread in BryanP's post in this thread and look on page 2. there are a few fixes you can try there.
In DC metro area and can only hit the .pda site. Called TMO and they said that it is a known issue and are trying to figure it out. It affects most google services. Call TMO and *****.. lets get this resolved.
Wow this is really an Issue, this is crazy I have to go thru all this trouble to get to goole and my gmail. Im in NYC and I have the same problem I cant get to the gmail or google, well it hits google.com/pda but it doesnt search for anything. I have to use netfront with proxy set to getmorespeed.voicestream.com:8080 to get to the sites anyone has any other solutions for this ?
Google time out issue
This time out behavior happens to me in Philadelphia and in New Orleans but works in Florida.
I actually called T-Mobile yesterday about this. I got upto a level 3 tech who exclusivly deals w/ MDA and other devices. He said this is an issue they know about and they're working on it. There was no ETA though, but he said they're seeing what the deal is.
I got 100 free minutes for complaining. Oh well.
maybe I should call too and get few hundreth minutes as I just got the service.
Something I noticed is that when I was visiting Detroit, Michigan I could not access google at all, but all other sites worked. As soon as I touched down back in Los Angeles, CA google was working just fine again.. weird but maybe something to look into?

[Q] Anyone having problems connecting to any Google sites over 3G?

This evening over 3G I have been getting either no connection or VERY slow connections to anything Google, such as the Market, Google's homepage and the Gmail app. Other sites seem to load fine.. Is it just me?
I'm having the same issue - have a friend with this problem too. Started for me last night. Like you said just google sites over 3g.
Same issues here, 4G I believe also. REALLY cost me some time on my commute having to try over and over again to get some directions to a customer's house... Eventually nav did work (even maps was lagging badly), speed tests were 'ok'. Wierd thing is, both 3G and 4G SEEM to be affected, yet if I wifi to my clear connection at home its just fine (and clear blows, usually I'm using my phone on mobile AP to pay bills because comed doesn't work on clear's dirt-cheap chinese ip's). What's up sprint, why GOOGLE, an integral part of the OS would you throttle for god sakes. All speech-to-text operations fail as well as they timeout.
Are you all stock?
stock rom, but rooted
Yeah same problems here I thought it was juat me
I've got the same issue, Can't download anything from market and can't log into any google services such as gtalk however I do have access to gmail.
I've rooted my phone and running xtreme kernel and epic experience and this has been happening since yesterday.
I can tell you it doesn't seem to just be the epic. I was on my friend's droid and it just seemed butt slow. Well then again, it's a verizon droid too...
I did have a problem with gmail earlier- had to clear out gmail storage/cache and re sync, which fixed it.. Or it just came back by then...
I'm surprised to see this post because I thought my browser was f'd up also. But I guess its just something wrong network wise.
r0cky.Da.3v0.SU
Still can't load Google.com but other sites (such as this one, I'm responding via the phone on 3G now) are fine. I can't pin point if its just stock people, rooted people, Epic or EVO people either.. a stock EVO next to me has no problems connecting to Google services. Very strange..
Looks like its not just me either. Maybe Sprint is upgrading their towers or something? I wish they'd tell us these things so we don't go through ridiculous troubleshooting measures for nothing on our phones..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832866
Sprint often seems to have connectivity issues specific to Google services. Couple weeks back when I still had my Evo... I was having issues signing in to google talk. I proved it was on Sprint's end by using Connectbot to create a proxy to mtalk.google.com:5228 and adding an entry for it in /etc/hosts. This fixed the issue completely. Sprint wouldn't admit anything.
Looks like we're back here in Kentucky - it was a data problem on the Sprint side! I'm glad THAT debacle is over, heh.

Internet connectivity issues?

I've been having this problem for a few days now. All of this has happened over a cell connection.
Occasionally, when surfing the net, searching, or clicking a link, I will get a page not found error. It will happen clicking links from pages, trying to launch google.com, or using the search key on the phone.
During the times the net isn't working, the phone reports full connectivity. Also, some apps like Facebook will still work. Some bookmarks will still work.
I was initially getting this on a stock rooted rom, but switched to CM7 and it still happens.
I've tried to force roaming, it still happens.
I also tried to do a profile update when on the stock rom, but I have NEVER, on any of the 3 Shifts I've owned, been able to get it to work
Is anyone else on sprint getting this? My girlfriend (stock rooted evo) has had the same issue, but not nearly as bad.
EVO Shift and XDA app
glad u said this, cuz i've been having the same issues the past few days. specifcally, i'll use voice search which should pull up google but it gives a page not found error. but then i'll just go to another webpage and it works fine. then i'll go back to google and search for something but get a page not found error, even tho 3g is connected. gotta be something with sprints service currently...
also had some issues with texting too, over the same course of time that this 'page not found' issue has been going on, not sure if it's the service or my rom, but i'd send one person a message and it would show in a thread of a different person i'm texting
Well I just talked to a friend who works in sprint intl tech, he said there is a nationwide text outage. So that may be that problem.
EVO Shift and XDA app
Sprint's network is having problems alright. No official word yet but check out this link from Engadget addressing this problem...

*EDIT* It looks like the SMS problem has been resolved. Check the link above once again...

Friend who works for Sprint said it's because they're trying to upgrade the Network. But also, some issues. Didn't specify.
Well I've noticed that since last fall (we finally got evdo) the network seems to be going right down the tubes. I used to be able to get around 700kbps, but now I'm lucky if I get 100. No exaggeration.
Sprint needs to get their **** together.
EVO Shift and XDA app
because sprint sucks
This is really getting frustrating. I can open a window in the browser, go to a bookmark and browse just fine. Facebook, weatherbug and xda work. Meanwhile, the google+ app can't connect and if I open a new window in the browser, I cannot get anything to load.
Any suggestions?
I've already done a full wipe, reflashed everything and started over not using any backups.

Market stuck "Downloading"

Hi, I just got a brand new Xperia Play and am loving it so far, aside from one infuriating issue.
When I'm on WIFI I simply cannot download anything from the market, I've been messing with this for the past 2 hours, things I've tried:
Clearing app cache of several apps related to downloading
Toggling WIFI / 3G
Restarting phone
Updating to latest firmware
Reset to factory settings
Play with router wireless settings
Reinstall router firmware
The only thing that did something is clearing the cache of the download manager, after I did that I was able to install one thing from the market. But it only worked once, it's not working anymore.
I'm also unable to play youtube video's when using wifi.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? My phone is brand new, so it can't be something I did with it.
Also, up till today I had an HTC Magic, which did not have the problem on the same wireless network. It did have occasional "download starting" hiccups, but nothing like this.
Any advice?
Thanks!
Edit: Solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17359553&postcount=4
Edit2: False alarm, still not working.. seems to come and go
You have the weirdest problem.. Did you check your router to see if it's generating enough ip addresses for all your wireless devices?
What is the distance between you and your router and what kind of router is it? I believe the play has a weaker wifi radio, so it might be dcing too often to stream and download.. Try standing closer to the router to see if there is a difference first.
Sent from my XPlay using XDA App.
I'm right next to the router and the web interface shows a full signal, so it can't be that. I can also see in the web interface that an ip address was assigned.
I've tried setting the phone as the DMZ and disabling the router firewall. No luck with that either.
I also tried upgrading my router firmware from Tomato to DD-WRT and doing a factory reset, but again .. no luck.
I'm running out of ideas, it seems the problem originates from Android and not my router, but I can't think of anything else I could try. Could it be an issue with the Android network in my location?
Omfg.. 3/4 hours later I finally got it, and this one wasn't suggested anywhere else so hopefully this will help some others in the future.
I had to go into wireless settings on my phone, click menu, go to advanced and then manually configure the network connection. Make sure your router has reserved an ip for you and use that one, otherwise you might end up trying to use one that is already in use.
After that it all seems to be working for me (so far). Fingers crossed that it won't stop working again.
Yea you couldn't find the answer anywhere else because it seemed like it was an isolated incident. Gratz for figuring it out though.
Sent from my XPlay using XDA App.
Next day, working fine in the morning. Couple hours later and it's back to getting stuck on "Downloading". Tried toggling static ip with no luck.
God this is incredibly annoying. I'm guessing it'll magically start working again at some point, and then stop working again later.
From what I've found through google this bug has been around since the very first version and not a single solution has been offered by google. Seriously this is ridiculous
Hi,
I'm having exactly the same issues.... Normal browsing, etc works fine on WIFI but market just wont work on WIFI.
I dont even see the device hitting my router when I try to download thru the market. Other network connections are seen by my router.
I wonder if it might be linked to the the fact that I'm running a UK rom on my device. When I'm using my data connection off Rogers, it actually does a RMNET to the British government... So we are seen as downloading from the UK.. Just an idea...
It's annoying as hell....
I was going to say download speedtest.net app when you can and see what it yields... but I see you've got it figured out. Nice!

Interesting, so you're saying that google somehow classifies us as UK users, which causes problems when switching to WIFI, which is not classified as a UK connection?
It would make sense, seeing as it seems to start working again after a while.. which could mean that whatever info google is caching on us is expired and it finally adopts the WIFI connection info.
Still, I have doubts about that.. I mean wouldn't a LOT more Rogers users be complaining about this?
The only persons that would be complaining are people like us running UK roms but our WIFI is coming from a canadian provider. In my case Videotron.
So when i<m using 3g data, i'm seen as coming from the UK because of the RMNET connection and when using WIFI i'm seen as Canadian... with a uk rom.
I've read that the market DOES have regions... might not be 100% correct on that but it might be part of my issue.
Mine BTW, never works anymore even after clearing cache, FC the market, etc...
lol i got the opposite problem i have trouble downloading stuff from the market using 3g but works perfect using wifi
not really an issue since im not an app whore
Its not a issue on play all phones has that. Simply log in to your Talk app then try again. (launch Gtalk app and login)
Thanks, but i had already tried that.
Reinstalled the UK rom yesterday, and even after a clean install market still doesnt work on WIFI even tho my WIFI works for browsing, accessing my computer thru RDP, etc.

This only works for some people.
My market has been working for a day now (I didn't do anything to fix it), I'm expecting it to stop working any moment. Fingers crossed.
Edit: Aaand there we go.. stopped working again. Sigh.
Got the same issue both on my Nexus S (Videotron) and (which is strange), on My Motorola Xoom Tablet which only has wifi, no 3g !!
Edit: If I connect my tablet thru my cell phone (wifi tethering) I have no problem with market
ok so me and mobidoy are both on Videotron...
Naatan I see you are in quebec... Videotron also?
Starting to believe it migh be an issue with them
hey
im in videotron too and since 4 days i cant watch youtube on youtube app and my download on market stay stuck in green bar!! i have a toshiba thrive android 3.1!!!!!
when i connect with a 3g router or on the wi fi in my city everything work again
so it clear that videotron is the problem!!!!
Had the same problems
First time hard reset fixed it.
Second time by magic, sorry. I was about to send the phone to repairs
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?
I've been having the exact same problem as you and can't seem to find a way to solve this. I just purchased a Galaxy Tab 10.1, WIFI only, and at home nothing will download from the Android market. It just gets stuck. Youtube videos also dont work via the app.I tried it out at a friends and everything worked flawlessly.
At home, I also have Videotron internet. I just called them, and tried to explain to their customer service but obviously they were quick to blame it on anything else they could. They said they did not block any ports either.
I read a thread about some vodafone users in the UK having a similar problem than us:
Edit: It wont let me post an external link because I'm a new user, but the post is on androidforums.com and is titled "ANDROID MARKET download/update problem via WiFi"
It seems their problem was fixed after calling Vodafone.
I'm also inclined to point fingers at Videotron since its odd we are all customers of theirs.
Just called Videotron technical support, they have an open ticket about it since yesterday morning and are actualy working on the issue !! There is hope !!

speedy won't work at home rooted running CM7.1

My phone works every but at home, I can't make a call or send a text from home. If I'm anywhere else it works fine. I can't seem to be able talk to the tower, if i use the open signal app it sees the tower and acts like I'm connected.
I'm running CM 7.1.0 speedy, I updated to 7.2 but had issues so i downgraded but that was weeks ago and it worked fine afterdown grageding.
It stopped working on 7-4, I live in the detorit area.
anybody run in to this before or know how to fix it???
*****updated
upgraded the radio, still no luck, flashed back to the stock ROM and still not working after updating the PRL. Called Sprint and the tech had me go though a bunch of resets and reprogramming. He still could not get it to work.
He said there was a issue at thee tower and they were working on it. He finally gave me a $15 credit on the account.
Is there a way to make you phone connect to a different tower?
You can force it to roam.
I believe the setting is under mobile network.
Its usually set to automatic, home is sprint network I believe, and I forgot what the other one is, but that one is roaming.
If you continue to have bad service at home, call Sprint. Then explain what's going on, and remind them that no service at home is grounds for being able to legally break contract. They will most likely offer you an AirWave. Just make sure it's free of charge. Lastly when you call make sure your on a Sense Rom.

Do a Nand of your current Rom. Then flash a Sense Rom, update PRL / Profile. See if that resolves the issue. If not call Sprint while your still on a Sense Rom. Ask them to reset your Data / Profile on their end.

Yes I know your Sense Rom runs with Zero issues, I have tried it . But he has some other weirdness going on.
I have three different people at Sprint reset my profile, none of it worked. I called on they way home and they are sending me the Air Wave, it is suppose to be free; we will see.
Oddly enough it was worked since I got home, I'm sure it will be out again in the morning. the thing about this problem I don't get is that it isn't just my phone acting up, it's almost like someone is hijacking the signal or cloned my phone or something and the network will not let two phones exist on the same number or address or what ever you want to call it.
Well I'm glad they're at the very least sending you an AirWave. Yes it's supposed to be free if your signal is non-existent at your home. The reason they do that is to keep you as a customer. Just keep an eye on your Bill . As for your phone being cloned, well it's possible. But very unlikely. If someone did it they would need access to your device for a good bit of time. I just noticed your in Detroit . How the hell are you having this issue in Detroit ???
I'm really not sure how one phone will work and one won't. I also really don't get how my phoe won't work since I'm less than a 1/2 mile from the closest tower, according to the Open signal app.
My house is aluminum sided, so I don't know if that is wreaking havoc on the new devices or not. I had a issue in the last year where my wireless router would drop out and I would lose connection with it. After repeat service calls I finally got a tech out that knew what he was doing and sugested that I switch routers or channels. After scanning for wifi for a few days I picked up on about 3 other people being on the same channel. I changed the channel and the problem went away.
