Quick question. Has anybody developed the IE scroll for the PPC/WM5? Second has anybody developed the open and close of applications animations?
Thanks in advance.
IE scroll --> don't know
Animate window is in Tweaks2K2 .NET , but I don't know ,is it ok for you , just try
looking for a free app, heard of tweaks2.net but would rather not pay.
actually, something that animates smoothly like the iphone and scroll are available. The one I've just heard about is itask over at the Lakeridge website. It works with wisbar I think. And as for the scrolling effect. It depends. If you just want that in your contacts list, there are a couple here like icontact or contacts manager that has the finger scrolling effect. But if you wanted it in all programs like Internet explorer, you might want to check out the touchflo stuff. Its ripped from the HTC touch device, but they have gotten it working on the wizard already, but it still has its bugs. Try it out and make the decision yourself. Hope that helps
the program PIE has a screen drag for internet explorer
Picture Scroller
Is there anything Like the Iphone Picture scroller available?
Thanks for the replys, I saw itask, im not running wisebar (wanting to see what I can do with freebies for a while). I used Icontact for a while, had some issues scrolling and clicking contacts etc.
I cant find that PIE app (searched google and mainly get..well pies..lol)
im searching out the touchflo now, but not seeing Apache, missing something?

Try searching for 'Pocket Internet Explorer', I believe that is what it is called (although I don't use it. I use picsel browser at the minute with my iPhone theme)
You don't need Wisbar Advance to use iTask. It uses Macromedia Flash 7 and Mort Script to work which is entirely free.
PIE is "Pocket Internet Explorer" which is built into most Pocket PCs today. What you need to look for is PIE Plus which uses PIE and adds tabbed browsing, finger scrolling and lots of other goodies. It's not free but worth it. Wisbar is also worth it for that matter as it is inexpensive
Whatg would you guys say is the most like the Safari browser? I have only used Picsel but have heard of opera mini 4 being like safari, and also deepfish.
iTask is pretty awesome unto it self, (im gunna play with it..lol), but im more looking to use the standard application of the phone and just add the animation when opening or closing windows.
PIE Plus seems to be exactly what I want in regards to the internet apps, but dont want to pay for it..Anybody know of another free app?
^^I'd love the transitions from itask, but on wisbar.

I edited your post...LOL
Why did you do that. I think I would want the same thing delude wants.
I want those iTask transition animations to work on Wisbar Advanced Desktop
Meaning I wouldn't need iTask anymore.

Opera Mobile is a great browser, but I don't think it does so well on the X1.
In landscape mode, the software keyboard should be completely disabled. This would be much less annoying and would also allow interaction with embedded Flash / Flash websites.
Opera also often makes the L and R buttons activate the start menu, rather than their assignments.
EDIT: And if you're typing into Opera's own search box with the hardware keyboard, it doesn't recognise that you are typing and times out - taking the search dialogue away.
Does anyone know if these things can be fixed? I wouldn't mind disabling the keyboard in landscape mode at the OS level (to affect everything), but it's too useful in portrait to disable altogether.
Thanks
Yes i agree about the software keyboard. That is the most annoying thing on the planet it comes up even when ur not in a text input area. I would love to see a tweak to stop this.
"Disabling" the on screen keyboard...
Try this SIP.
It is an onscreenkeyboard but in fact it displays NO keyboard.
You can change it back to a "normal" keyboard via the normal SIP menĂ¼ in the bottom middle of the screen.
Better than nothing, I guess..
Greets !
PS: I found this cab in an Opera 9.5 thread around here.
there is a registry tweak somewhere on here, ill try search for it now
Has anyone noticed that the opera that comes on the xperia only lets you go to mobile sites no matter what the setting in the settings tab indicates?
that not opera but the websites you are visiting.
I don't think so because these webpages have full verisons and its determined by the browser u are using. For instance if i switch to the build from the touch hd i can go to the same webpages and view them as full pages but the one on the xperia will automatically go to the mobile versions. I started up a new thread to discuss this

The webpage you visit is informed of the user agent. Most websites use useragent checks to determine which version to show you. I should know I design websites.
Most likely (but unconfirmed without a test) is that the Xperia build has "Sony Ericsson" in it useragent.
I had the same problem, i was trying to view the full desktop version of youtube.com but it kept redeirecting me to the mobile version, even when i clicked the link at the bottom of the mobile site that said 'View desktop version'. I tried everything to stop it from happening i.e changing user agent settings in registry and opera, but it kept on occuring.
For a reason not connected with my problem I got a new Xperia X1 and now I dont have that problem anymore!

So most likely it has to do with an opera setting. Can anyone post there opera.ini file. I tried to change the user agent based on opera's definitions.

He is right. Go to a site like IPChicken.com and look at the Browser string under the 'Advanced' section and you'll see what Opera is reporting to each site you visit. Opera has a way to 'spoof' the User Agent to be like Firefox or IE 6 for example. Type in: about:config in the address bar, and scroll all the way down to User Agent and try 2 and 3 (Firefox & IE, respectively).

Thank You!!!! That fixed my problem. I'm going to post in the thread i made for this problem. If you don't mind that is
zooming by dpad is a good thing.
for scrolling, the finger cam is perfect.
and scrolling by g-sensor would be a good thing
(i hope the x1 will have one, like ohter htc devs)

Zooming with the dpad is what I miss most from my touch pro. It's scroll wheel works very well for dynamic zoom but it would be nice to try something similar with the xperia optical stick.
one thing that i would like to change in opera is that new tabs open up in the background, is there a way to do this?

i've updated the user agent in opera but i'm still being directed to mobile versions of sites. anyone else having this problem ? any ideas ?
thanks in advance ...
are you surfing over Wifi or your mobile networks connect. Website use a series of tricks to workout which version of their site they think is best for your device.
Almost all of these sites however should provide a link which allows you to visit the full site, which you may need to bookmark to aviod repeating the steps each time.

i'm surfing over my provider's network. this wasn't an issue when i was using the non-bundled version of opera. most of the websites i have gone to either don't do browser sniffing or have used the user agent rather which has meant that i've been browsing the full sites.
since switching to the bundled version of opera i'm not constantly getting the mobile versions ...

Well you know the volume buttons do zoom in and out, right?
It's not as convenient as on the Diamond/Touch Pro, but does the trick.
Is it possible to install IE, I couldn't find it there. Although Opera is good for many things some sites do not display well in it (eg www.livedepartureboards.co.uk) whereas in IE they display a special low-res version automatically?
I installed TomTom and was configuring it when it asked me if I'd like to download some more maps. I clicked on yes and it brought up Internet Explorer. So it must be hidden away somewhere maybe?

Hi, there is something called a "user agent" that you can specify. It's a string, that some websites are set up for (like google).
It's either that the webpage desides to send you the full or mobile version of the site depending on the user agent of your browser, or the site site has information and links for your browser to choose, depending on your user agent.
In short, you can change the user agent string of your browser (pie or opera) to match that of a browser on your xp or vista desktop, making sure your mobile browser allways loads the full page. Or you can choose not to.
Opera tends to load full pages anyway, even if the user agent is set to a kind of mobile browser, because of the zooming capabilities (pretty darn selfrightious
pie is not that smart.
google user agent for more info.

alternatively, it's there in the 'All Programs' list in the bottom left corner when on the Programs slide in TF3D.
I just added it into one of the empty slots on that screen for ease of access
(Opera doesn't seem to like my works frame based webmail, but IE copes with it ok)
Netfront browser is another very good alternative. I find that it renders some website more accurately than Opera Browser. An example include cnn.com and smh.com.au.
Prefer TouchFlo3D to the Xperia's panels interface although both have their benefits. It would however be nice to add customised tabs to TF3D the way the panels interface allows. Has anyone managed to do this yet? Take it that it would probably involve using a customised ROM. Would love to have custom tabs like the Google and Facebook panels as well as further ones for things like Live Messenger, Twitter, and Flickr.
Bump. Great idea

Yeah me too, I saw a video on Youtube the showed many other tabs, so someone has managed to do it. I just wish I could switch between them without so much trouble.
Good idea, would be nice!
Looks like T-mobile Germany have got something similar in mind:
http://www.theunwired.net/?item=int...opera-to-introduce-widgets-for-windows-mobile
I assume though that adding more tabs might possibly slow down TF3D?
there are a couple tabs located somewhere around, but it's not like you can add any tab you like. default tabs are 11, there are 15-tabs packages which add calendar, sound, comm manager and calls list. you can search here for 15 tabs and you'll find them.
and yes, to my experience the 15tabs slow down tf3d (but at boot time mainly, browsing through them is still fluid)
So there's no custom ones out there then? Shame HTC don't open up the code to encourage custom built tabs.
because we all have different needs for applications and programs on our phones, i was curious to see what everyone has installed and uses most often on your HD2. i myself haven't done much installing, but what i DO have proves to be extremely useful. here's my list and what each program does:
palringo - multi protocol IM program, i had this when i had an HD1...love it
facebook 1.1.0.17 - a deent update to the og app, use this over touch.facebook.com now...
shazam - recognizes nearly any song playing when allowing your phone to 'listen'.
bsb tweaks - many useful tweaks
total commander - use it for registry things and as a better file explorer
gui:
co0kie's home tab - love the 4x4 quick links and the amount you can have
mini hd2 lock screen - haven't tried s2u2 yet, but this is simple and clean
that's about all i have for now. interested to see what other apps, games, and gui tweaks everyone else has. screenshots would be nice, too, if you have them.
