Ftp server via 3g network - G2 and Desire Z General

I setup a ftpserver using port 1024 on one android. Using a second android, I use andftp to log into it...well I try and fail. Are ftp servers being blocked? Wifi works fine through a router btw.

I haven't tried this specifically on the G2 but I have on a couple other phones and have never been able to get it to work.

thanks for the info. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Then again, I'm not glad.

vpn client?

hey guys,
am trying to connect to my office's VPN with my vario II. the default software provided does not seem sufficient. for one, i have one of those security key ring things which means my password changes every time i want to connect.
my pc uses cisco's vpn client...
any ideas? right now i'm just synching my exchange server with my pda using activesync, but wouldnt' midn having it on the go! there's no "external" access as such for the exchange server - it does have a web front end but its highly customized and isn't as easy as just configuring it as an external data source on my pda...
This one works perfect for me..

We use AnthaVPN at my university and it's supposed to work quite well with Cisco concentrator gateways, but be warned, if you have the latest 3.3 aku, you might run into problems like I did regarding loosing 3g internet connectivity on your hermes. However it could have just been a fluke as I didn't bother trying a fresh install of antha after a hard reset or anything since 3g is just as fast as my universities wireless internet anyways
Hope this helps
You can also try Bluefire. They have a 30 day fully functional trial version.

I have installed this but can't see any way of configuring the VPN connection. How did you configure it?
You have to use the PC client in order to create a configuration file and then transfer the file to your device
duh!
thanks!
bluefire is amazing. i bought it.
I came close to getting bluefire to work on our Cisco network... But once connected it would not transfer data.
I read on a seperate post here that alledgely the medianet unlimited plan uses the wap.cingular access point. That point is NAT based and some vpn clients do not like that... So they refuse the connection based on changing ip addresses.
I am not a networking expert so I do not know if this is in fact the case.
I do know I tried every freakin setting for bluefile and could not get a vpn tunnel from my phone to our Cisco vpn... So I gave up!
NCP
Could I get more specific infos about bluefire? They wanted a 5 page survey before they would send me a (business) trial.
Well, NCP Secure Entry VPN Client works perfect for me with Lancom and other standard firewalls. And yes, configuration is made with a Win XP Desktop Application. Nice about this: They got a Desktop VPN client as well which will be configured exactly the same way. So if you got a working setting for your Laptop you can manually copy the settings and they will work on the PPC as well - thats what I did.

VPN-Client????

Hey Guys,
is there a free VPN-Client for our Diamond, that works together with an Open VPN Server? Or is there another way to get a VPN Connection?
Chears Marco
Or a free client that works with Cisco vpn service?
If there is no free clients what are the other choices?
I use OpenVPN Client for PPC, works fine !

go here: http://openvpn.net/index.php/documentation/howto.html
..after reading that, you will know enough for setting up your own OpenVPN connection, but my OpenVPN in TouchPro is not working ..and I'm using the same config for PPC and PC...

Which clients works for Cisco VPN? Anyone of those free?
I tried to run OpenVPN on my touch pro, but it just appeared to open but didn't display itself. I did a soft reset and it still wouldn't work. Any ideas?
Try to disable the TF3D plugin, there is an icon on Today Screen

Cisco IPSec VPN Solution

I have sucessfully connected to a cisco asa ipsec firewall using froyo 2.2 on a htc evo 4g supersonic.
pics or stfu
I have successfully connected my Android 2.2 EVO to a Cisco ASA 5520's Remote Access IPSEC VPN many times using VPNC. The problem comes when you actually try and route traffic thru the tunnel. . . Is everything working? eg, DNS lookups via the tunnel?
If it is, would you mind sharing HOW?
"Vpn connections" search for it

I'd sure would like to know how you connected to Cisco's ASA via ipsec VPN. In my case DNS would not be critical as making a RDP connection to my servers or workstations via ip address is all I need. Could please share your solution. Assume you are using Group Authentication?
Thanks in advance!
I used VPNC version 07 and have transfered files from my corporate SMB Server and established RDC/RDP sessions with corporate computers while at my home. It works with MIUI 11.19 and cm6snap kernel version 8.1

Hey thanks for the quick reply. New to this Android stuff - love it though. Just got my EVO about 2 weeks ago. So just to clarify. When you say -" It works with MIUI 11.19 and cm6snap kernel version 8.1", I'm assuming this is a rooted phone with that specific image. So probably won't work with stock EVO right?
You are very welcome and thank you for your interest and well thoughtout questions/comments. I have only had my evo about 5 weeks. I found it difficult to use at first, even a a IT administrator for a national hotel chain. Hang in there it will get easier.
Your device must be rooted. Use unrevoked. Dude you must root. If you don't, you are not using the device as t was intended by the designers. I will be glad to walk you through the process

Name:
Type: PPTP (default)
PPP encryption (MPPE)
DNS search domains
DNS servers (eg 8.8.8.8)
Forwarding routes (eg 10.0.0.0/8)
Honestly i don't know what to fill in those boxes

Getting VPN client to work

Hey guys. Got a nexus player a few weeks ago and was able to sideload TorGuard on there. I can enter in my credentials and it authenticates, but when it goes to establish a connection it fails. Does anyone know how to get it to establish? On most recent stock OTA and not rooted. Also the bootloader is still locked.
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
I just got my NP today and am having the same problem getting TorGuard to run. I got it sideloaded OK and it seems to authenticate fine, but never establishes a connection. Were you able to figure this out? Any assistance would be enormously appreciated.
Thanks!
Vpn
I read a web site that suggested loading openvpn installer and openvpn settings for the fire tv do you think it would work on the nexus player? ??
SOLVED!
You simply need to have TorGuard change your 'username' to something other than an email address --- the email address format (e.g. '@' '.com') screws things up on the Nexus Player. However, if you simply have a traditional 'text' username, everything authenticates fine. Simply contact TorGuard support and they can make this change for you in a couple of minutes.

Is it possible to use other vpns than torguard? ??
If it runs on 5.1.1 or 6 it should work for Us

Since we're running either v5.1.1 or Android v6, any VPN client certified for either Android system should run on our Nexus Players.
I have a torGuard account and only have experience with that, so far.
Torguard vpn
Ok so I can connect with the vpn but when I exit the app and try a to watch a tv app from the same country as vpn connection it doesn't work. When I go back to the vpn app it says that it is initializing and a new ip address appears. Any ideas? ??
I have this same issue ... the TV app I am trying to load is Netflix and it says it cannot find the netflix servers or connection... Can't seem to find a fix but the TorGuard support are pretty good and helping me at the moment will let you know if a fix is found ... Unless you have a fix already?
I just order a Nexus player hopefully private Internet access works
